Awesome until it stops working – Had this blanket since May 2020 so just over 2 years. It’s comfy and heats up fast. Love the heat settings and timer on this product. We have had to do a reset on the controllers only once after flashing. All good. original receipt from Harvey Norman and have contacted sunbeam via email to see what our options are as they promote a 36 month warranty on this particular product.
*Update* Stella from Sunbeam was quick to reply to my email regarding the 36 month replacement warranty. Provided a case number (which Harvey Norman didn’t need to validate) and I returned the blanket today for a full refund. Amazing service from both companies!
Absolutely woeful – Bought this about 6 months ago. Turn it on an hour or so before going to bed. Get into bed and it's stone cold. Have to turn it on and off several times to get it to work. When it does work, the heat on it isn't up to par. Cheaper, non-micro controlled blankets warm up much better without any complications. Temperature control is a load of rubbish… Read more

A big thumbs-up to Sunbeam! – This product is well designed with good features and functionality. I have had good use of mine for almost 8 years, but then the controller failed. (Maybe a rare case. Some features aren’t great – The feature for it turning off when you get warm is good in theory but sucks. I’m hot way before it turns off and even though it says it’s temperature sensing, it doesn’t turn back on so I wake up freezing, turn it back on, get hot within a few minutes and suffer with the heat while I try and get back to sleep. Good idea, doesn’t work great that’s the only downfall. Other than that it heats up quick, is very hot.

Not the control, but the blanket itself. It a large $ purchase and very disappointing to have to spend the $ to replace with another brand. Only just out of the warranty period and not able to be replaced.
Bad quality – So far we've gone through 3 of these blankets in the last year. They get warm very quickly but if you forget to turn it off within 12 hrs it WILL BREAK immediately. is flashing because the blanket had been turned on for more than 12 hrs and that's it. It's broken we have to bring it back to get another one under warranty. EDIT: I will say that I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that this happens because of safety reasons but it's ridiculous that the product becomes faulty even on the FIRST time that you forget to turn it off. I've bought a new electric blanket from Woolworths And have been using it for about 3 months now. No problems at all and it was much cheaper than the Sunbeam one.
Absolute rubbish don’t waste your money – Im giving this 2 stars because when it did work it worked well. We bought this blanket June last year from Goodguys. 2 months later it stopped working. Got it replaced. Took it out for use this winter. Worked for 2 weeks and its stopped working again. Hit and miss quality product. Don’t waste your money. Someone called [Name Removed] always replies and says that my electric blanket is not made now and the new model is out of stock but I can have the downgrade as a replacement if I want it. She has offered me this downgrade twice now. She also tells me that it will be another month or 2- every time I email. But when I email again to check the status - it’s still out of stock and I can still have the downgrade. I don’t like to feel the wires in an electric blanket which is why I chose the quilted queen. I was emailing monthly to make sure I received it then was happy to wait for stock, but it’s at a ridiculous point now and after this experience I will be looking for another brand. It’s been a very disappointing experience.

back to Myers and they replaced all 3 blankets for us - Which was very nice (Due to covid19 they extended their policy on returns) So we all got 3 new electric blankets. Well guess what?? All 3 stopped working once again on one side after not even 3 weeks of using them!!
Ridiculous if you ask me!!! Yet again, i returned all 3 to Myers, this time i got a refund on 2 them and silly me exchanged 1 and got a new one just for myself, because Mum and Sis didn't want this brand again.

What do you have to say about this Sunbeam? For an item to continuously stop working , you must obviously be doing something wrong!
Work well as described – Work well as described. Heated up fast with timer but the connector is too obvious when sleep on it, that makes sleeping not quite comfortable. Moreover, quite expensive compared to other brands.
Expensive blanket – Blanket worked perfectly fine so far but one side of the blanket has stopped working. Controllers are ok as I swapped them and they were working fine. So the fault is in the actual blanket. Unfortunately, warranty expired by just one week so unable to get replacement. Quite disappointed. The last one was a fitted Jason brand which didn't even fit properly, prior to that was Goldair which had a failed controller within 4 months. it heats up the bed. That's about it. There's no bells or whistles, it won't make you breakfast in the morning or make the bed for you. Is the price justified? Not in my opinion but if it lasts a few winters then I'll consider it a worthwhile purchase.

Doesn’t work like cheaper brands. felt cool in top half and warmer down towards the bottom anyway it still hasn’t improved wish I hadn’t bought now as 4 cheaper brands to just 1 of these. Also the dial is hard to read being red light that is so bright you can’t see the numbers for heating.

I did, as always have, perform the troubleshooting actions - checking that the blanket was connected to the controller properly, taking the plug from the wall and turning the point on and off and trying again - no go. Today I phoned the Customer Care number on the User Guide - and I got Jeffrey in the Philippines. Jeffrey has repeatedly asked for the receipt, my name, where I live, the fault, and for a photo of the controller - all of which I have supplied repeatedly. I note the User Guide states replacment guarantee for 3 years. Well, still waiting. Come on Jeffrey!!! It is winter here and we could do with a functioning blanket replacement NOW. So Sunbeam writing any reply stating "contract our service centre" thus far to me, has been absolutely useless.

Expensive blanket, poor quality controllers – One controller stopped working during the first winter, so have been using the other for 3 years. This one failed last week. I now find that I can replace one controller for $47.50 on ebay, but the 758 sold already from just one seller tells me not to waste my money. Excellent in every way but only lasted 3 seasons – My partner and I have enjoyed our blanket for three seasons but now one sides handset is now longer working. It warms the bed in 10 mins saving on our power bill and even quicker - like one minute if you are in bed. There are no cold patches. The attachment to the bed is not in the way and it fits our bed well - even with a memory foam topping.… Read more
You can set it for 75min - which is all we usually need - as we are sufficiently warm. Of the 9 settings we only use number 7. There is an option to set for 12 hrs. An option I’ve only used once when I had the flu.
We will buy another given the poor reviews on the Breville option.

first fault in 2015 was most likely a loose contact in the timer as it would work if turned upside down. The blanket is now well out of warranty and a new controller is in the vicinity of $65, so what is the choice, a new controller for a five year old blanket or a new blanket? if the latter what brand.

Warranty – I was told that my King fitted electric blanket BL5174 by Sunbeam Customer Service was out of warranty (response no.00694568).I used for the first time in 2018 and now the element was faulty. I am very disappointed with the product and felt that it was unfair for me. It was supplied to the shop in 2015 but it was sold to me in 2017. Controls just flash and don't turn on, happened on both sides of the bed and one of them didnt even make it halfway through first winter of use!! Worked perfectly for 2 years – Have never had any issues with this for just over 2 years but now it is dead on both sides, no lights no nothing and David Jones says “out of warranty” which is a shame I mean I don’t know many people who use it in summer so it could have broken months ago! Good warranty period – First bought this electric blanket in 2017 and it worked a treat. Went to turn it on in winter of 2018 and it didn't work. Customer service at Sunbeam was fantastic and blanket was replaced at Harvey Norman where it was purchased.
