Sunbeam Caffe Bellissimo EM9300

Perfect product if you are able to follow manual – Coffee is perfect and I can make decaf as well (by using decaf grounds). It doesn't have any fancy features, everything designed to the minimum that functions. All fully automatic coffee machines require maintenance. This one's maintenance requires that you have the manual because it points to the page number on the menu whenever it needs care.… Read more
This is not a problem for me. In fact it is perfect, because I don't want to spend extra money for extra functions amending the lack of capacity to read a manual. The function to make 2 coffee in one go is a time saver!
Terrible - Died a few weeks after end of warranty Never again Sunbeam – Purchased it in April 2016 from Catch of the day, at the start the coffee was pretty decent, not very hot but i was able to life with it. Around 10 months after buying it the milk wasn't as good as it was at the start, two weeks later there was hardly any milk coming out. Now there isn't even coffee coming out and all of that just a few weeks… Read more
after the warranty expired.
I will never again waste my money on a Sunbeam product, there seem to be to many reviews pointing towards the same issue. Not sure if it isn't worth a shot to escalate this matter since this seems to be a very common problem with this specific model.
Great crema coffee and functional design – I have used this machine exclusively for medium black coffee and produces a brilliant crema and no bitter aftertaste which is usually caused by incorrect temperature. It took a while to adjust the grinder without error messages. The only inconvenience is the sensitivity of the water storage tank that needs replenishing
A great machine, we love it – We love the machine, it's so simple to use and make fresh coffee quickly. We did experience the issue that many people complained, the LCD shows error 1 or error 10. After reading the booklet, we found the issue is cause by brewing unit locked. So there is no ground coffee in the right place and system provide the error 10 - coffee is too fine,… Read more · 1
yes, nothing but air is really too fine to make coffee.
After we know where the issue is, we tried to adjust the brewing unit. Push the toothed opening on the measuring spoon onto the pin turn it till the brewing unit fully opened.
Now the machine is working perfectly.
Further more, I haven't got any the heating issue, coffee is hot enough and the hot water can make tea as well.
Hope this helps.
Still going strong – Years later and it is still giving us great mornings. Yes it has to be cleaned regularly or you get mouldy coffee taste, but it is easily fixed by using baking soda in the cleaning cycle. We don't use the milk anymore, but love fresh grinder coffee in the morning. I like the half cup option, if you haven't got time for a full cup. Show reply
Makes good coffee, but reliability a concern – This machine makes good coffee, is easy to use and clean and is reasonably quiet. It has heaps of customisation options and settings which allow you to fine tune and get a really good tasting coffee. But there are issues: when you switch the machine on it always defaults to a milk-based coffee rather than the last-used espresso, which is… Read more · 3
quite annoying. I don't generally use the milk attachment with this machine (too much messing around to set it up and clean it up afterwards), so I wish it would remember what coffee type it last made.
But the really concerning aspect of this machine is the fact it has already thrown up an Error 1 code ("brewing unit blocked" according to the owner's manual) twice. Once on the third cup of coffee ever made, and then again about 3 or 4 cups later.
I have had this machine for a grand total of 2 days. This is very worrying.
If it continues to present this error I'll contact Sunbeam for a replacement and I'll update this review over the coming days and weeks with the outcome.
no luck at all with this product – Was excited to purchase this machine and when i got it, i could wait to use it.....set it up ready to go and a error message. Supplier replaced it straight away. A week later and it has stopped working....it sounds like the machine is struggling to grind the coffee beans and only water comes out...not happy at all
Bad – The Sunbeam Caffe Bellisimo was our first foray into coffee machines. I was adamant that I wanted an automatic machine because I had no interest in being a Barista, I just wanted my damn coffee in the morning without all the stuffing around. However automatic coffee machines are expensive. Enter this Sunbeam Caffe Bellisimo that was from… Read more
memory on clearance at Retra Vision for $299. Insanity for an automatic coffee machine. Ok, it didn’t have the swanky looks of the faux-stainless steel high end brands, but it didn’t have the swanky price to match either…
When unpacking it and setting it up we noted that there was coffee residue inside the machine. The Sunbeam blurb that came with it explained that the machines were tested in the factory to ensure they could grind, tamp, froth and generally make a cup of coffee. That was refreshing, we thought, making sure it works before letting it loose. There was also a convenient little holder at the back of the unit to store the instructions and user guide for future reference. Saved rummaging around in the kitchen drawer looking for long lost instructions many a time.
In terms of making an actual cup of coffee, it did a reasonable job. The controls were easy to navigate, and it never really stuffed a cup of coffee up. However despite our fiddling with the settings, it could never put out milk at a temperature that was warm enough. The power button appeared to be a bit dodgy at times, and from memory we lamented that the water tank wasn’t a bit bigger given the cleaning cycles it was always going through.
And then, after a few months of ownership, it started to let us know it wasn’t happy.
Error 10. Error 2. Error 3. Error…something else. No matter how much we cleaned it, the error messages persisted. Until one day, the unit just decided to stop putting out hot water or coffee. It would still deal with the milk ok, but no dice on the coffee. So it was returned to Retra Vision, who said that this was a repair job, not a refund, and sent it off to be repaired.
Then the repairer got in touch with us and said that it was uneconomical to repair the machine, and we’d be given a brand new one. Ok, fine.
The new machine sounded a little different to the first, and the power button worked as it should on this one, which gave us some confidence that the first machine was just one of those ‘Friday’ machines. But after a matter of weeks, this second machine started throwing up error messages and refused to make coffee. So we took it back and demanded a refund. Whilst at first Retra Vision stated they couldn’t give us a refund on this machine (there must be some bizarre arrangement between Sunbeam and Retra Vision about refunds), they offered $299 off a new coffee machine of our choice. With a bit more haggling by wifey, we walked out with a new De Longhi unit for an outrageous price, and have never looked back. Top marks to Retra Vision Cannington for that.
The machine itself (the Sunbeam) appears on the outside to be well made, but as per other Sunbeam products the internal components are questionable or R&D testing isn’t good enough to prove the reliability of the appliance. Shame really, they could have hit a home run with this machine and delivered a cheap automatic coffee machine to the masses that could stand the test of time.
On the basis of the unreliable nature of this model, I can’t recommend it. Not unless Sunbeam fix its innards.
Mixed results love the coffee but the machine keeps breaking down – Machine not yet two years old, replaced with a fault at 11 months, the same fault occurred 12 months later. it was repaired at the time but going through the extended warranty was a real pain as the machine was away over two weeks. Low and behold a new year days and on the weekend it has a major failure and will not turn on. Back into the cycle of… Read more
dealing with extended warranty company.
I love the coffee it produces though and other than the faults I would give it 6 out of 5
No more 7-eleven coffees – Easy to assemble, quickly and quietly makes the perfect latte with the bean hopper, too bad I can only get a long black when using pre ground coffee. Compared to going to cafes with the price I paid this machine and the number of coffees I have every day it will pay for itself in less than a month already programmed for cup size cant make a latte using pre ground in one touch
Do not purchase! – Do not buy this! The coffee is not hot enough and the machine is very unreliable. During the first six months the machine had many issues, displaying 1 and 10 errors repeatedly during this time. After being replaced by warranty, the new machine only lasted 4 months displaying the same errors! Bad warranty service

Unreliable – I bought one early this year. It ran very well for three months and made excellent coffee. Unfortunately it stopped drawing milk. It was under warranty so we replaced it with another. The replacement didn't even last a week before the pump began playing up and making very loud noises. We have since sent it back for a full refund. We miss the machine but it was totally unreliable Made excellent coffee - when it worked faulty pump
Great... for only 3 months! Highly frustrating since! – I made the final decision to buy this after reading the early posts here. Well, I must be the unluckiest person to have bought this machine (except K.K in the questions section posted 23rd sept.2012). I have used mine for about three months and have used only beans with it (no preground coffee), at the middle grind setting, over the last 4 weeks… Read more
it has been a hit and miss, it delivers very little coffee, more of a sporadic trickle really, it then displays error 10, so I put the grind to the coarsest setting as advised.
I have also gone further and cleaned and regulated with the tool provided (3 clockwise turns, as per backpage of book), and still playing up, i have not had the time to return to the store, but I think I will try to get my money back.
I paid just under $700 (down from $900!), so I wish i had only paid what Rick H in Sydney Paid!...(Unfortunately, I didn't re-visit the site to see that price, so I purchased it not knowing how cheap it can be had for).
I guess in my case i got what i paid for, I had a Krups automatic machine prior to this which never gave me trouble for well over 5 years (cost me just under 3k). However it had twice the footprint, so I loved the size and price of this when I went to purchase it (HN).
I would NOT recommend this machine (I think this has been around for a good couple of years now), hopefully Sunbeam can work out the Gremlins and put out a new model as it has a lot of potential. I wish it had continued to work for more than 3 months for me! The look, small footprint, price point with grinder and auto froth. Playing up after only 3-4 months of use. Has taken up to three switching on/offs before extracting one cup of coffee!

Know better, choose better.
Absolutely Great Machine – I purchased this for my Work Staff Room. I bought it mainly for the price but once I found out how easy it was to use, clean and maintain I was amazed. We have had it fo about 8 months and it makes an average of 15-20 cups a day and we have never had a problem (not one) It is so good I have just sold my beloved Delonghi Prima Donna (worth $2499) I… Read more

amazing – just got this machine and it is amazing, so easy to use, so many functions i will be using it everyday. i would recommend to anyone who wants a coffee machine minus the effort, it makes cafe style beverages in a quiet and fast manor. No joke it is really quiet. Only 1 problem so far, does anyone know how to put the quick start guide back in its… Read more
slot on the back of the machine? mine wont go back in, it just seems to hit something and i don't want to force it. Quiet, Fast, easy, cheap, better coffee than most cafes I've been to. the quick guide start wont go back into the back.
Great Automatic Coffee Machine – Have had this coffee machine for about 12 months now and find it really great. I have it in my office at work and it's great when anyone drops in that there is a coffee ready to go. There's no mess from coffee grounds, no pods, no separate milk frothing, just great coffee. I read up on this before I got it and the one downside seemed to be people… Read more
saying the coffee wasn't hot enough. Have had a few people try straight Espresso and they say it's quite hot. Found that by playing with the settings you can get the milk based coffees hotter [the more coffee/less milk the hotter the coffee] I run 55% coffee, 45% milk and if you warm the cup as well the coffee is hotter than standard factory settings. Of course you can adjust the strength of the coffee grind too. I have the Sunbeam Café Series Espresso machine at home and I will admit that this coffee machine (manual) still makes a better coffee than the Bellissimo automatic at work, but then it is automatic and so easy to make a nice coffee. I have had no complaints from anyone, people have actually commented how it is so easy to use and now 2 staff at work have since bought this machine as well. Simple to use, no mess, easy clean.
AWESOME – Got this machine recently absolutely love it. Easy to use, easy to clean and best of all so much cheaper than paying thousands of dollars for a similiar machine. Love the fact that you can taylor make coffee to each person's individual taste. Awesome that it is adjustable for different cup sizes also. Very happy customer :D :D self cleaning, price nil Show 2 replies
Sunbeam Cafe Bellissimo a cut above the rest – Fantastic machine, you can set the temperature to whatever you want. It is fully automatic and cleans itself, easy to clean. Different settings for a small cup or large cup (grande latte). No need to froth the milk yourself, does it all for you. Makes a lovely coffee. Great price as well - got it half price at the Good Guys for $324.00.… Read more · 2
Cheapest on the market for what it is. Ease of use and fully automatic - coffee in a breeze took a while to work out how to set the temperature.
Not a bad machine but a bit pricey for what it does – It isnt a bad coffee machine just doesnt make the coffee very hot even after adjusting the settings :( takes a while to get used to all the different variations as to what you can do which is good :) It makes great coffee :) Doesnt froth the milk enough, uses too much water to clean the milk straw.
Good machine if you don't mind having to reheat the coffee once you make it – This is a good machine and easy to use once you understand how it works. The main issue with the machine seems to be that, even at the highest temperature setting, the coffee, if made on milk, is just not hot enough. If you don't mind having to microwave the coffee for 20 seconds after making it, then no real problems. I can't comment on the… Read more
temperature of non milk coffees though as I didn't try these options. I was able to purchase for $348 on special at the Good Guys - I wouldn't recommend the machine if you had to pay full price - am sure there are better options for the recommended retail price of nearly a grand. On the advice of Sunbeam, I am taking my machine back to the store as there is just no way to make the coffee settings any hotter (without having to microwave it once made) This is a shame as it makes a very nice coffee and the machine has plenty of options and settings to make coffee just the way you like it. Plenty of options to make the coffee just the way you like it. The machine makes warmish (milk based) coffee at best, even on the highest termperature setting.
Which good guys did you purchase it from?
It gives a whole new meaning to the word 'instant coffee' – Oh My God! I love this machine, easy to use, it pretty much looks after itself and when you do have to clean it, instructions are easy to understand and carry out. My 8yo old daughter can even operate it. It does it all, my husband and I had looked at the more expensive brands and were almost going to buy one until we found this one. So glad we… Read more · 1
did. Does everything that the more expensive ones do. You may bounce of walls due to drinking too much good coffee.
