Unable to remove blades – Minimal usage but unable to remove the blades. Looks like this a common problem with both models of the Sunbeam electric knives. Very disappointing when you think you have bought a quality item.
Very unhappy – I have had this knife a little while but I only use it to make ribbon sandwiches as I prefer manual knives for roast. I am disgusted. I used it on the weekend to make sandwiches and it is locked up just as the other review states. I cannot press the button to release the blades at all. Very disappointing as I like my Sunbeam products! Show details
Blades locked in – Unable to unlock blades from mechanism. Now out of warranty, would be reluctant to purchase an electrical knife again. Unable to date purchase. The whole release mechanism based on a flimsy spring mechanism. Show details
Do not buy this product – I bought this product to carve meat. Could not cut butter with this. The blades just sit on top of the meat, making no incision at all. At this stage, the motor will almost grind to a halt. I will take it back tomorrow Show details
This knife has been grest for our sandwich bar – We have found the carveasy ek3800 the best knife for our sandwiches we do for catering have used them for 20 years plus unfortunately i have just been told they have been replaced by a newer model which i have tried and found it cause a painful indent on my hand when i cut the eject buttons impede good handling because of location. i am very disappointed and will try to source any old stock if i can anywhere please review its design Show details
Woeful product – This knife struggles to cut a loaf of homemade bread and the position of the switch cause pain in the wrist very quickly. I am very disappointed with this product!

micro serrated blades – the blades do not work, unless one moves them forward and backward in a slicing movement they will not cut butter. The on/off switch is so difficult to operate that one gets cramp in the hands after a few minutes of operating.
Hard to find more useless product – We bought a Sunbeam Carveasy EK3800 specifically to slice bread a meat. It failed! The motor is very very weak and the blade design poor. Do not buy one.

Not fit for the purpose – I have used Sunbeam electric knives for 20 years and was very happy with them. After using Carveasy model EK 3800 happily for many years, it was time to replace it when a fault meant the blades could not be removed for washing. Harvey Norman sold me the Carveasy Pro model EK 5600. First use proved it almost useless. It's cutting performance was… Read more
very poor. It tore at the bread, which got between the blades so that they bulged. I then tried to carve ham, but the meat got between the blades and they bulged again. Fortunately the garbage had not been collected and I was able to recover the old EK 3800 from the bin for use until I can go shopping again.
Please dont buy one – Like a fool i binned mine as it was bin day that i had the misfortune to go into target & thought its about time i got a new one , cant think of ,no thats not right there is nothing good about it ,wont even cut bread , crapp
This knife is total rubbish – It cannot cut through a loaf of sourdough bread! Just squashes the loaf! The blades are not sharp at all . It is so bad I resurrected the old Black and Decker it was meant to replace - at least the old B&D actually works, even if its battery takes ages to recharge. I cannot believe how ineffectual, how unfit for purpose, this knife is. And the… Read more
"ergonomic" handle is not comfortable at all for this left hander (which shouldn't make any difference).
Don't waste your money !
Doesn't cut bread. Blades have a very blunt edge. Handle is uncomfortable.

rubbish – This my 2nd one of these. This has the same problem as the first one.The blade release button doesnt work after a while so your stuck with dirty blades. The book says it all.MADE IN CHINA. $60 down the drain. Dont wast your money.use the old knife and fork system. Rubbish item.
Very disappointed – Bought a Sunbeam Carveasy and found it useless for cutting through cooked meat. Will be returning it to the store where I purchased it. Compared to a previous electric knife the teeth on the blades are very small and therefore has to dwell in the cutting position a very long time. Very frustrating. Likewise the two-way switch very stiff to "switch on". Not a user friendly knife to use.
Rubbish – They say this knife is easy to use and ergonimically designed. It is very hard to hold and to keep on . I bought it for my wife. She gave up using it and carved the Christmas ham by hand. I found it difficult to use. It did not slice easily. It was a waste of money. Do not buy this electric knife.
