Hit and miss with Sunbeam Solus Digital – I have been an avid ironing homemaker for 40+ years - this is the worse iron I have owned. Today I threw the Solus Digital away after it finally died, after approx. 3 years (and this was a replacement due to the previous Solus failing). I will not buy a Sunbeam iron again - Sunbeam has, in the past, been a preferred brand.

No repairs – Have almost always bought Sunbeam irons in the past 36 years and sometimes have had one repaired but went to do the same again and found out this is not done any more. We are just expected to throw it into land fill and buy another. This may be the general attitude of companies but I expected better from a well know company like Sunbeam. The water… Read more

tank is leaking but the rest of the iron is clean and works well. I don't think it is very old but can't find the receipt so I have no choice but to throw it away. They claim it is for safety reasons but the 'no repair'attitude seems to only apply to their cheaper products (irons, toasters etc). Mustn't be a safety issue with repairs to dearer products! Perhaps Sunbeam could make a range of products here in Australia which might be a little more expensive but which have quality manufacture and then I wouldn't need to throw my iron away every year!

Loved it - until the steam trigger button broke :-( – Looking at the below comments, it seems the dud trigger for the steam release on my iron isn't a one off. It's annoying and has me tempted to use the No name $20 iron that hubby bought but I like the length of the cord on this iron. I've been looking for a new good quality iron but am being especially choosy this time and scouring all the reviews before I buy another. Not happy especially given the cost of this iron :-(

Never again – Last Septemer 2013 I purchased the Solus digital resilium which from the start did not iron well in Feb 2014 it stopped working so I had it replace with another, now I find that it peeps all the time and it loses it temp stting. TGoday it decided not to heat up and the light remianed red. I now will return the iron and look for another brand.… Read more

Sunbeam has always been gthe brand I choose in the past but this time I will follow the Coice magazine ans chose their best buy as shown in the March 2014 magazine. The way my hand fitted around the grip It did not steam very well and it kept on peeping, when it peeped it changed the temp setting.

Good Iorn but fragile – Worked well for a year but the tank cracked after dropping to the floor so no longer holds water - seems that the tank plastic is very brittle - Sunbeam may wish to think of a tougher material. Only other comment is inconvenient water fill - other brands can be filled horizontally - the Sunbeam has to be held vertically with fiddly and easily broken cap, temp control and auito off fragile

Perfect! – I've had this iron for over 14 months, I've never had a problem with it, glides easily and irons perfectly! It gets daily use, and I wouldn't hesitate buying another. I have tried other big name brand irons and they were utter junk, nothing compares to my Solus Digital Resilium..Thanks Sunbeam Love the Alarm which beeps if left on!  Show reply

Poor design needs to be recalled – A longtime customer of Sunbeam products, I purchased a Solus Digital Resilium SR7000 but had to return it within weeks. The tip started to emit smoke. I turned it off and after a while back on again but the iron did not heat up, only the amber light worked, and there was no digital temperature control showing anything. The iron was replaced, and… Read more

tonight - after one use - the same thing happened again. I can't believe it, and turned to product reviews to see if this iron has problems. It seems this is the case. When working, eaily glides across clothes. On both irons: Temperature control not working; emits burning smell before going dead; water leaks.

I went through three irons in as many months. After using Sunbeam for 20plus years, I have now bought a Phillips.

Steaming backwards – I've had this model iron a week. The steam functions seem not to work very well and what is the point of a 'large' water reservoir if most of the steam functions don't work once the water level gets down to a quarter of a tank? On full steam setting I get steam but on the lesser steam settings almost nothing - again what is the point? I have to… Read more

fill the steam tank after about six garments so much more often than my previous iron. Doesn't overheat and damage fabrics like last iron. Steam functions do not work as well as previous irons (Sunbeam and other brands). Heavy.

Brilliant – This would have to be iron engineering brilliance. Out of all the sunbeams irons I've had this is the most well designed ever. Love the trigger for steam , so easy to use and easy on your hand. Easy to fill and the extra long cord just tops it off as the best iron ever. Steam trigger position

Not so great – I bought this iron and thought it was great, it didn't leak the steam shots were powerful and then one day a month later the steam trigger broke, so I took it back thinking it was a one off faulty. Then my replacement after just two weeks broke with the same problem, the steam trigger. So having hope I took it back and thought third times the… Read more

charm. I got it home and started using it and the steam trigger moves but no shot of steam comes out... I am very disappointed with this product since my last sunbeam platinum iron lasted over five years with no problems whatsoever. digital screen, temperature indicator. Faulty steam buttons.

Good so far – Smooth action ironing plate. Heats up quickly and has clear display. Steam features are good. Had for about 4 months now, dont do a large amount of ironing but use at least weekly and so far have been pleased with purchase although the features arent of a huge benefit for the extra price outlay. Reliable Maybe a little heavier than other models

Great Iron But Shot Of Steam Trigger Faulty – This iron is a great iron, easy to use and great shot of steam, when it works. Brought 1st iron in December 2011, trigger button broke after a month. Got it exchanged and decided to reduce my shot of steam useage but to no avail, shot of steam button broken in this one too, 28 March 2012. Will be taking this one back . Great, heavy duty iron,… Read more

Will not purchase this model again – Originally purchased and needed to return within one month as the steam trigger button stopped working. I was given a new iron of the same model, have returned it again today (Feb 12) as the same problem occurred. Did not want the same model, so now have a Verve 68. Here's hoping! Good iron whilst it worked Repeated fault. Sunbeam rep accused me of dropping the iron on both occasions, this was definitely not the case
