Don't ever buy this product – Hi I would like to make an official complaint about the quality of my Sunbeam Cafe Series blender. We bought this product after doing a fair bit of research and believed we were buying a quality blender. We were happy to spend $300 knowing we would have a blender that will last us a while. Well, I was wrong. I take very good care of my… Read more

appliances. I have never placed the blender in the dishwasher, and I cleaned the jug thoroughly after each use. We have only used it for smoothies, and were using it about 1-3 times a fortnight on average. About 2 months ago now, I noticed a leakage of rusty residue from the base of the blender. We threw out the smoothie; I took the blade and parts apart from the jug, washed each piece well, and allowed to dry completely. I then tried again putting clear liquid in the blender and running it again. The rust residue started again, and appeared to be leaking into the jug! I am extremely disappointed, angry and feel let down by Sunbeam. Obviously we are past the 12 month warranty period, and when I spoke with "customer service" (who were not very friendly/helpful and had no idea about customer service), the man I spoke to didn't apologise or express any king of empathy, just gave me a phone number for our local office to order new parts. When I called this office, I was advised the "blade assembly" would not be available until March 2019 and will cost up a ripping $55! We should not even need to buy a new blade after less than 2 years use! Not only that, I am required for diet reasons to start the day with a particular green smoothie, so now I have to go out and purchase another blender! In the meantime I have researched online and realised this has been a problem from other consumers and seems like a fault of the Sunbeam blender - some going back to 2016. I feel completely ripped off and let down by sunbeam. I used to trust the quality of Sunbeam products, but now I will not be buying Sunbeam again. And if I don't hear a response, I will be taking this complaint further and will not recommend your products to any of my family or friends, not just for product quality, but also for customer service quality.

Update: I still havent been contacted by Sunbeam about this. So disappointing :( and as mentioned wouldnt recommend. I feel like I've lost trust in the Sunbeam brand.

Excellent Blender – I bought this blender 3 months ago to prepare Oatmilk that I use daily. I use it 3 to 4 times a week each time for about 25 seconds on highest speed, making 1.7 litres of oatmilk. So far I have had no problems with it's operation. It is more than powerful enough to blend the oatmilk to a smooth shake each time. I have had no leaks so far and… Read more

the bearings are as tight as the day I first bought it.

I was considering a Vitamix blender but as they are 3 times the price here and even the parts for it nearly cost as much as this blender to buy new.

So far I am very satisfied and would recommend it. Powerful motor, Large size jug, Reliable, Looks great, Good value, Good warranty, Spares parts availability and cheap. So far nothing to complain about.

Great! – We bought this about a month ago and I use it twice everyday. The motor on it is extremely powerful. I prefer a plastic jug, the glass ones are too heavy even before you have anything in them! I like how you can control the speed intensity with the dial, and it has a pulse button. Reasonably easy to clean. Not too loud either. High power

No spare jug – I Agee with other reviews . They are correct .I have this problem brown rusty leakage . Today I made melon smoothly at first and After a while time the its colour changed to brown and I found the jug had leakage. The biggest problem is you can not find spare jug . Good Motor Let Down By Awful Plastic Jug – Perhaps this review should be called "how small things ruin good things." The motor is strong and almost as good as the one on the Thermomix. The blades are strong and good, able to slice ice with ease. The pulse button is handy and the little spatula you put down the lid to jiggle food about whilst whizzing is excellent. So why, Sunbeam,… Read more

why did you scrimp on rubbish plastic jugs that fail on a regular basis? I'm on my second jug and, frankly, last one. Small things. Stupid savings of pennies that can cost a company it's good reputation.

I'll bet Sunbeam saved no more than a few pennies a jug by using cheaper plastic. It's a bean counter decision that only works in the short term by trashing a good reputation in the long term.

Disappointing – Bought this believing it was a good quality machine that would go the distance. The jug scratched up from day one, now I have the awful stinky brown sludge leak that others speak of. I am horrified to realize that our children and myself have been drinking this!!! Quality failure. Now that I see this is a common issue, I will be looking at replacing it with another brand. This should have been recalled a long time ago.

Short life span, rusty liquid & leaks – I loved this powerful large blender but less than 12 months later the jug began to leak a brown toxic residue into my smoothies and mixtures. Replacing the jug is pricey so unfortunately we have a very expensive unusable appliance. Being time poor I never got around to replacing the jug and now they seem to be unavailable or ridiculously expensive. I doubt I'll purchase anything from Sunbeam again!

Disappointing product – This blender has a good powerful motor. The plastic jug gets old and frosty very quickly and I was very careful and gentle with cleaning. Great Blender, shame about the plastic jug! – I have had this blender for quite a few years and the second jug has now cracked. Cracked – Have replaced jug twice. have not put ice in it or hot soup. it has not been in the dish washer. both jugs cracked with minimal usage. I waited 2 years before purchasing another jug. Within 6 months of buying new jug it cracked. i like sunbeam but they do not help when it comes to there faulty products. The sales staff at DJ's informed me that it was the single biggest complaint from customers. Its a good machine Jug not compatible with engine.

Disappointed – Initially happy with our purchase but like others, fluid would leak into the bearings creating rust and became unusuable. We had the item for a little over two years and was used to make the occasional smoothie. Would have expected better life out of a blender that was not a cheap item. Will steer clear from Sunbeam products in the future. Powerful motor Faulty seal

Blade assembly leaks – Very happy with the blender and how it works, but after less than 2 years the blade assembly started to leak and obviously had been for a while as the brown sludgey liquid appeared, obviously rusted bearings(hopefully I have not been drinking any of this!!) A replacement blade assembly was more expensive than a new cheap blender!! It was used once or twice a week for smoothies! Powerful and easy clean Blade assembly leaks, replacement expensive

Terrible – I purchased this along with a Sunbeam mix master 6 months ago and have had ongoing problems with both and Sunbeam don't appear to want to deal with this issue. OK back to the blender. this thread the plastic jug has cracks forming around the base. Also when the jug is nearly full the lid does not seal therefore when the pulse is used liquids leak from the lid. I am very frustrated as I purchased this ~$200 blender as my previous $60 blender only lasted 18 months .... go figure.

I used to love Sunbeam products but must say that the ongoing issues with both products is more than a coincidence. I think they have compromised quality and reliability in their quest to reduce costs. very powerful when it did work Its a Sunbeam

Terrible – This is a follow-up on my previous review. I took the product back to the store where I bought it and asked for a refund. instructions. I pointed out that the issue at hand was that the blender was not of merchantable quality, the claim that the jug was 20x stronger than glass was clearly false, and there were other reports of this cracking problem on the internet. Under these circumstances a consumer is entitled to a refund under their statutory rights. They made faces at me, but accepted the blender back and gave me a full refund.

I suggest than anyone who has jug cracking problems does that same I as I have done and then goes shopping for another blender. You'll feel better about the whole thing :-)

Terrible – Already replaced 1 jug due to the jug leaking each time I used it. It also leaked a rusty substance onto the interior of the base of the jug. so rude and unwilling to help. I live in Townsville and she told me the nearest service department is in Ayr (about 1 and a half hours drive away)The manager finally called me back after about 3 days. After lots of convincing she finally agreed to send me a new jug! That was in July 2009 and I had not even had the blender a year by that point. It is now January 2010 and it looks like I will need another replacement as I am experiencing the same issues all over again. I am going to try and get my money back. This is shocking that so many other people are having this same issue. I have the 2000 watt model and paid about $210.00 so I am not at all happy. I think anyone considering buying this should avoid it completely and get another brand. I doubt I will ever buy Sunbeam again. it is a shame as the motor seems like it would go forever it is just the jug and the crap customer service that is letting it down! I bought this appliance based on the fact that the jug was meant to be 20 times stronger than glass - what a crock of crap!! I think my cheap target crockery would be stronger than this Sunbeam jug. Very poor form Sunbeam!! After reading all of these reviews and seeing that other people are having the same issues I want my money back!!! The look of it is stylish. The high 2000 watts. Several things!!! Leaking jug, cracks in plastic jug. Rusty substance leaking from blade! Extremely bad customer service from Sunbeam!! Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced.

Terrible – Piece of garbage, don't buy one. No customer service. Inferior product sold with no quality assurance. The bearing in the middle of the blade assembly comes lose after use and leaks through to the rubber seal on the motor. Initially purchased this product because of the 2000W motor. IT is the noisiest machine ever. There is a design fault with the blade assembly. I am on my third cafe series blender and it is ready for the bin.

Terrible – The motor itself runs smooth and quiet, but as soon as the jug is on its as noisy as a WW2 Plane. Someone got the blade design very wrong as this is a common problem. 3 months of light use and the bearings in the blade has completely worn out and seeps rust. I wasted $250.00 on a faulty pice of equipment, pays to check out reviews before purchasing. Great power, nice sytle The blade assembly is faulty.

it was cheaper than Vitamix blender (~$1,100), and more powerful than the range of blenders usually on sale at the big department and electrical stores. It looks stylish and i like the stainless steel body and large jug. Rusty liquid seeped from the bottom, i had to replace the drive shaft that cost me $40 (and no one told me it had a five year warranty! And now the motor won't turn the blades!!! there doesn't seem to be an obstruction, but the same repairer told me it'll cost me $25 for a quote to tell me how much they'll fix it for!!! Sunbeam also was very rude to me when i had problems with the rust: they said you shouldn't immerse the blades in water....but HELLO! you blend liquids with it, and you wash it in the sink....so how can you avoid immersing them in water? In short, she told me it was my fault.

Powerful... but disappointing and easy to breakdown – Was trying to research comparisons between the now obsolete (12 Oct 2010) 2000W PB9600 and this 1200W PB9500 model when I came across all these complaints about the 2000W model and felt I had to put in my 2 cents worth. It was a gift for me and was chosen for it's powerful 2000W motor. I was pretty impressed by the marketing specs - including a 5… Read more

YEAR WARRANTY - which was probably necessary as the motor conked out in it's 2nd week (only used twice)!

Sunbeam replaced it with the 1200W PB9500 model, informing me that the 2000W model was no longer in production. Feel somewhat cheated that my dad paid for the 2000W model and we got it replaced after 2 weeks with the lower powered 1200W model. The only consolation is that we kept the jug so that we ended up with a spare jug.

2018 Update [for anyone still researching these models for any reason]: This is regarding the 1200W PB9500 model. In 2014, 4 years later, it conked out - just suddenly stopped working.

Turns out if it's a blown fuse, it's not covered by their fabulous 5 year warranty on the motor. Furthermore, the fuse is not user-changeable. It's soldered into the circuit board. The authorised repairer didn't have the exact same fuse with terminals to solder onto the board - so I bought a cheap fuse from him, and with his suggestion, soldered it back piggy-back style onto the existing blown fuse! It continues to work to this day in March 2018!

HOWEVER... as can be seen in some of the other criticisms here, the blade assembly leaked lubricant oil into our smoothies! First few times I tasted it, I assumed it was just something I wasn't used to - like that weird taste when you drink something after brushing your teeth with toothpaste. But then I experimented just blending plain, filtered water and to my horror, the water changed colour each time!

Fortunately I kept the spare jug with a new blade assembly from the warranty replacement. Fast forward a few years, and now we're experiencing all this rusty brown liquid leaking out of the blade assembly as reported by others.

We only use it occasionally in summer, so as robust as the marketing makes it out to be, unfortunately that has not been our experience.

I can see some repairers sell the blade assembly for around $45. The motor is still strong and powerful (which is its only saving grace - if you don't blow a fuse) so I'm tempted... but I expect the same problem will happen again a few years from now. Perhaps it's time I wake up and change brands before I ingest more rusty liquid and bearing oil! (Comments regarding the obsolete 2000W PB9600 model) All the marketing blurb on the packaging - commercial strength, heavy duty 2000W motor, 5 year warranty. 12 month's REPLACEMENT warranty The PB9600 2000W model died on it's 3rd use, within 2 weeks!

They are going to replace it with a different model - hopefully not the PB9500 going by these reviews. Will work the new one hard, so hopefully it will show it's 'true colours' while still under warranty..... Expected more for such an expensive blender.
