I agree "App is a disaster" and "trash" as per Finn Peacock from Solar Quotes having used a Sungrow Battery storage system for 1 year. Slow and unreliable since installation. After a recent software upgrade it stopped using the storage battery which had 50% and instead charged our EV form the grid costing us $$$. Now it's only using the grid with… Read more
100% battery storage available. Installer is getting the run around with solutions - suggesting a restart hoping it will fix. Sungrow FIX your app.
In August 2025, our business completed installation of a substantial Sungrow solar and battery system comprising 89.82 kW of solar PV, 50 kWh of battery storage, a Sungrow SH20T hybrid inverter and a Sungrow SG50CX inverter. Unfortunately, our experience with Sungrow since commissioning has been very disappointing. From the outset, the system… Read more
has displayed abnormal consumption data through the iCloud monitoring app, including impossible negative consumption values. These errors indicate that the system has not been correctly configured, undermining confidence in the monitoring platform's accuracy and making it difficult to assess energy usage and system performance properly.
The most frustrating aspect has been the lack of effective customer support. We've repeatedly reached out to Sungrow to investigate and correct the configuration issues, but we haven't received a satisfactory resolution. More than nine months after installation, the monitoring data is still inaccurate, and the underlying configuration issues remain unaddressed.
The hardware itself appears capable, but reliable monitoring and responsive technical support are critical components of any solar and battery investment. Based on our experience, Sungrow's after-sales support has not met expectations.
Sungrow needs to take ownership of this issue and proactively resolve it. At this stage, I'm not able to recommend Sungrow based on the customer support we have received.
I had a Sunny Boy 3kw inverter which worked perfectly for 13 years. Unfortunately we decided to update to a Sungrow 3kw inverter to go with our new solar panels. After 6 months the inverter stopped working. I had the solar installers come back twice to look at the inverter which they said needed to be replaced. I have spent hours on the phone to… Read more
Sungrow head office which disputed the warranty claim. First they wanted to update the firmware, when that didn't work they said that the problem was our "poor internet service", then they wanted to send me a new dongle to see if that would work. I told them that the solar installers had informed me that the inverter needed to be replaced as it was showing the error code E208 and was making a loud humming noice. After multiple phone calls and emails Sungrow accepted the warranty claim and I was told that the process will take 1 or 2 weeks. Today I contacted Sungrow again and they informed me that they don't have any inverters in the country and none will be arriving for at least another month at the earliest. Avoid this company as this is the worst warranty claim I have ever had!

I had 5kw inverter installed and after around 6 months it became very noisy, i tried to contact supplier but they had gone out of business (wonder why). I tried the 1800 number that put me on hold as number 1 call next in line, after numerous attempts waiting over 1hour 40 minutes i cancelled call. i tried many times over the next year without… Read more
success. I tried to call the other number listed which was answered by someone with a broad English voice with the same result - nothing. I had also tried to place warranty claim by email but could not as it was indicated the serial number did not exist. For 2 1/2 years I have tried to contact this bogus company without luck. I had a brain flash and called all solar installers on the east coast of Australia and luckily found one in Melbourne who had contact details different than all published ones. After I explained the issue the receptionist said she could not pass on their phone number but would contact sungrow and let them know they have a customer issue. The receptionist call me back after a few days to check if I had a call and I told her that I hadn't and she contacted them again, I did then get a call from Sungrow. They sent me an email outlining why electronics get noisy and a link to download a sound measuring program, I tried to install program but it asked for a $52 charge to install the program. I called Sungrow back and let them know that it was not my job to try to install program, pay for program when it is their product that is under warranty and is faulty. I also let them know that I was 70 years old and did not have a very smart phone. They then sent me an email outlining that I have to go through the procedure to find fault and sent another copy of why electronics get noisy, I now have 3 copies of why electronics get noisy. I intimated to them that as the inverter is under warranty they are obliged to repair or replace unit. It seemed that this goes against their rules and was told that basically not their problem. I intimated that there was an ACCC australian warranty legistration in place and I was informed that it does not apply to SUNGROW. This is not an isolated fault and I have read other customers with the same problem. I contacted the Tasmanian office of Fair Trading and tried to lodge a complaint but because The seller has closed his doors it was very hard for them to do anything, they suggested the NSW Office of Fair Trading but ran into the same problem. I am about to contact the ACCC re the Aust guarantee and warranty
*******WARNING****** I would suggest that anyone thinking of using SUNGROW thinks very carefully about your choice and make sure you purchase from a reputable company, something that this company is not
Just so you know the problem is that the inverter hums and vibrates through the whole house and can be heard in my nextdoor neighbors house, houses on the other side of the street and over 30metres away at my back fence.

Uninterrupted power in a blackout! – I purchased two Sungrow solar batteries in 2021 and since that time they have not missed a beat. I know this as I can track my solar usage and see how much (or how little) of the grid I use and how much credit I am accumulating sending excess electricity to the grid. There have been two local blackouts in that time and on both occasions I have not… Read more
experienced any disruptions to my power, unlike my neighbours whose Telsa solar batteries are reliant on being connected to the grid and therefore do not work in blackouts. I definitely recommend Sungrow.
Very difficult to connect and poor support – Bought the eShow Wi-Fi product, has very poor directions to install or troubleshoot. Contacted support & got silly unhelpful response, with primary questions not answered! This Wi-Fi model seems to lose Wi-Fi connection easily.

pros-and cons between competing systems and types.
Personally, I have zero problems with the Sungrow. I like the monitoring software, I like the instruction manuals, and I like being able to dial into it and configure it from the phone app or online. As the other two systems age and get upgrades, I will have no objection (so far) to replacing with Sungrow products. I don't rate them any less than the other two brands.
My installer made a couple of screw-ups upon install, CT's the wrong way around, causing the Sungrow to spaz-out, but you need to get onto your installer immediately, or preferably, teach yourself how your system works so that you don't need them. Knowledge = err...power... pardon the pun.
Sungrow online support has been excellent. Don't call them up, send them an email. When you have problems with things, you put it in writing. Sungrow can't be blamed for crappy installs. I had a good installer and they still made a couple of errors that I diagnosed and fixed all on my own.
Follow-up · Still performing excellent. I’ve since enhanced the battery stack to about 18kw. Did it myself it was so easy to add more battery cells and program the software to deplete the stack to the right voltage for the new cell. Just scan bar codes and follow the instructions. Sungrow are great. Cloudy weather performance is a product of the panels, or going to micro inverters. Bifacial cells are the way forward with that too.
We have a sungrow but it is always disconnecting from the internet. It has been terrible from day one. Also so hard to setup. I do not recommend them. Customer support was no help I tried to get help hooking it up to ethernet so it might work better but after 4 times contacting them they then told me it won't hook up to ethernet.
Follow-up · Still no help from Sungrow all I can say is stay away. They are not concerned with small customers anymore

to do with no success. They have no customer support. There warranty means nothing. I cannot get them to even check the inverter. Always talking to overseas no Australians. It is only 3 years old I have requested for it to be fixed or replaced with no success.
Follow-up · There could not be a worse company to deal with. they have done nothing for me to fix the inverter that is only 3 years old. They helped do a factory rest from there end which did nothing. I am going to replace it with a Fronius for I have been told by supplier that they are much better quality and service. that is a expense I should not have to incur. no customer service with Sungrow.

Before you even think about writing a review, make sure you’ve done your homework. I did—and trust me, you really need to put in the time. I lost nearly a year figuring things out, and I’m still fine-tuning my setup. This is especially for South African users: you need to learn how to manage your panels and battery properly. Honestly, once you… Read more
understand it, it’s straightforward—arguably simpler than learning to drive a car. The panels themselves are easy; the key is understanding your high and low tariff periods and planning around them.
The SUNGROW app isn’t the most intuitive at first, but the real trick is learning how to “drive” the system to your advantage.
For example, my system switches on at midnight to charge from the grid during the off-peak tariff. It then waits until 5:30 a.m., when it powers the coffee machine and the rest of the house until about 9:30 a.m., when the solar panels take over. If there’s remaining capacity in the battery, the panels top it up to full. During the day, the house runs purely on solar, with no grid usage during peak rates.
When we get home around 5:30 p.m., the battery kicks in again, and we use the electricity we purchased earlier at off-peak rates. Then the cycle repeats.
The SUNGROW app allows two settings for workdays and two for non-workdays, which gives you flexibility. The key is to choose an electricity plan with the lowest off-peak tariff and the lowest daily supply charge. Your goal should be to operate the battery in a way that avoids peak tariffs as much as possible—it’s almost like playing a strategy game.
So please, learn how to use the system before leaving a review.
I’ve also found SUNGROW’s support to be excellent. They even called me proactively to inform me that my battery was showing a fault. I was told that if it couldn’t be fixed remotely, a replacement would be installed quickly. In the end, the issue resolved itself, and the system has been running perfectly ever since.
Now, if I can just add another 30 kW, I might be ready to say goodbye to the grid altogether
i'm starting to suspect this operation is an elaborate scam ... next to useless support (evasive at best) quoted one size system and installed another ... which it turns out supplies far more than the grid here accepts so it's actually useless to me, not much benefit to the power company ... but good for Sungrow and their installers the installers… Read more
destroyed several sections of laser-light on my roof by taking a shortcut (saves them costs ... plus repair and replacement costs on me) based on the almost zero net effect on my power bill (and i'm in the tropics and can hear the thing roaring for many hours every day) i'm beginning to wonder whether there is a secret scam going on where the power i return to the grid is credited somewhere other than to me and for the couple of people in these reviews who say "i dont know what everyone is complaining about" ... do you think we are making this up ??? really ... when you say that you sound like you are paid for comment ... why would that many people bother to make stuff up ??? maybe you got lucky ... or maybe ... you just might not realise you were scammed yet - i hope for you the former
I am extremely dissatisfied with the solar installation service I have received so far. Despite changing my energy retailer twice, the solar grid has never been set up for export or sale. It has now been over three months, and the issue clearly appears to be related to the installation process carried out by Solargrow. Show details

their backup support. They have been far more helpful than the installers. Inverter and battery has not missed a beat.

Love my Sungrow system, 10kW hybrid inverter which hasn't really missed a beat. Regular firmware updates add new functionality, and yes initially it needed some more features, but does and always has done everything we have wanted. the negative feedback is due to dodgey installs and poor installer support not Sungrow. Whenever we have a question we contact our installer, they contact sungrow and we generally have a quick response. Admittedly they are not that keen to respond to the general public questions, although they did to mine, because think about it, the general public is stupid and lazy and will ask dumb time wasting questions. I wouldn't want to respond to them quickly either.
Sungrow poor service – Installed Sungrow 3 phase x 10 kw inverter 24 Dec 2024 and still at 24 January 2025 still not getting much more than a few KW. Solar Miner the installer says they are trying to fix but Sungrow phone keeps disconnection to speak to anyone. Told Sungrow was good after sales service by Solar Miner compared to Fronius but they are absolutly terible. My old Arora 3 Kw produced without faults for over 10 years no problem 3 Kw every day.
No customer service support and poor product – App disconnected during a storm weeks ago and still won't reconnect despite following the user manual instructions multiple times. Left waiting in a queue on the phone for 20mins only to be directed to leave a message and the call ended. Poor customer service and poor product
Gave up on Sungrow product – The app worked well for a number of years then 12 months ago the inverter went offline. Sungrow support eventually said my wifi dongle was faulty. I bought a new one and even with Sungrow support, the system continues to be offline. I am so disillusioned with Sungrow that I now have to live with no isolarcloud monitoring. Extremely poor customer service. Suggest ultimate caution with anything to do with Sungrow. Show details
Don’t waste your money or time on Sungrow – Don’t honour their warranty on their defective products. Don’t even ask them to fix, won’t happen. Worst company. It’s Chinese, probably state owned, total crap product. I’m taking them to court for their defective product and buying a Inverter not made in China. I wish I could give less than 1 star. Bad customer support – We have a sungrow inverter it has been putting power back to the grid instead of the battery since February. Tech support doesn’t have a clue we will be ripping it out soon & cutting our losses. Stay away from sungrow throw your your money to the gutter at least you can see were it went. Show details

2018 SG5KD inverter (24 panels) cost $7,400 and lasted 5 years – Very disappointed in Sungrows SG5KD 6.6 system inverter I bought in 2018. It is 2024 and it has error code 038. inverter. Then I was told I only had a 5 year warranty. So $5,200 dollars and 5 years later makes a saving of....zilch. Our electricity has cost us over $1,000 a year.
When problems happens they vanish – We have a system installed last November. The WiFi dongle was hacked as anyone can enter the sytem. There is no protection as it should be. know their own product or they shield with subcontracted "help desks" that know nothing ? Couldn't they escalate, are there any chain of efficiencies in getting info back to a customer who has put money and bought their product but they have PDF with the official company logo with the answers but they do not know they exist ? What kind of joke is this ?
Rubbish – Absolute piece of crap this sungrow inverters, i am a solar retailer and lately we have almost 30% sungrow inverters has nothing but issues, support from sungrow gets 0/10 as no one will answer your phone, We have tried reaching out wholesaler but could not get much help either. Sungrow will encourage you to open a chat and wait their forever and answer you get is we will look into it shortly.
Worst Product ever Manufactured – We had a 10.5kw system installed with 2 Sungrow inverters, of which one is a hybrid for charging the battery. We've had the system just over 2 years now and are on the 3rd set of dongles now. They failed again for the 3rd time 3 months ago and a warranty claim was submitted. 3 Months and still no answer. system or view any faults. We were quoted $600 to replace the 2 dongles and hardware the system after the last fail, so forget about a warranty as they now expect us to pay for something that should be covered under warranty. Very poor form from Sungrow and would not recommend.
Let down by clueless support personnel – It took six months, three inverters and two batteries before finally a Sungrow technician was able to identify some issues with the configuration of the inverter. The system would go into standby mode for hours with no faults indicated. The system would also remain in standby mode for hours even after a fault had cleared. Once we found a… Read more

there is zero after sales service. Maybe they can't keep up with demand or they can't be bothered. Either way, we would've bought a different inverter if we'd known fixing faults would be this difficult.
Avoid! - Absolutely no customer service – - At the time of writing, their Google review is somehow 4.6 stars with 2,500 reviews. - No one answers their 1800 number... Absolutely no aftermarket service – We have had solar installed for a while now - definitely under one year ago. Hubby has made several phone calls to get the sales consultant to come to our house as we need a few things sorted out. We are given a day and he fails to show up.
