I had a very disappointing experience with Sunterra. I was clearly told and given written confirmation that my solar system installation was scheduled for 21st April 2026. Based on this, I rearranged both my personal and professional commitments to be available for the installation. However, when I called on the day before to reconfirm, I was… Read more
informed that there was no booking at all in their system for my address. This completely contradicted the confirmation I had already received.
This reflects very poor coordination between their sales and operations teams and shows a lack of reliability and accountability. No customer should have to go through this after being given a confirmed installation date.
Due to this experience, I have lost confidence in the company and decided to cancel my booking.
I would strongly advise others to be cautious and ensure everything is properly confirmed in their system before making any commitments.
Left a deposit and received an automated email to say that it has been received. Then heard nothing for weeks. Called Sunterra only to be met with a very aggressive man on the phone who refused to put me through to Dean Johnstone. Eventually told me my job had been booked (which it had not as there is no evidence of this or confirmation). I… Read more
have tried to ring back multiple times but they are refusing to pick up the phone. Dispute has now been raised with bank to get money back. I would be very wary of using these people. There are many other providers out there. Read the review and be cautious.

Poor Solar Installer – Poor solar installer. I purchased solar system with battery from this company about 15 months ago. After the system activation, I found the substandard works as follows: 1. battery modules stacked not in right alignment. 2. spare DC and data terminals were not covered. 3. cables entering into battery module without protective cover. 4. used… Read more
under size changeover switch. 5. used under size electrical cables inside main switch board. 6. battery DC cabling connection not in accordance with manufacturer's wiring diagram. I am still waiting for Growatt's confirmation regarding the warranty issues because it may be voided. According to Growatt Battery Warranty Card Exclusion of Warranty, the warranty includes defects of design, components and manufacturing, but excludes from the following damage due to: • Failure to observe the user manual, the installation guide, and the maintenance regulations; • Unauthorized Modifications, changes, or attempted repairs; • Incorrect use or inappropriate operation; • Defects or non-conformities which are caused by normal wear and tear
To be fair, Sunterra rectified most of the substandard works after receiving my complaints except item 6 regarding the 10 years battery warranty issue. But if I don't have the above knowledge and find out the substandard issues, I think the substandard works will not be made good.
Highly recommend – Highly recommend company! We had recommendations from our family friend! I am so happy with their professional work. They communicate with me all the time. They did an amazing work! Thank you Tevita, uncle Jamie and our friend from Jordan and new employee from Fiji! Sunterra should be proud to have you! Of course thanks to Graham B! Keep such a good work Show details

Excellent system advice, perfect project execution by a quality team – Feedback Sunterra Team from Sunterra has recently installed a Jinko Hybrid Solar System. and Yang, with the follow up conclusion from Parker. A very complex project with unusually flawless execution - a rare experience of mine. The installation of the 11.44kW system with the inverter, batteries and EPS facility was completed within one day. I have no regrets taking original recommendation of a friend and would have no hesitation to recommend Sunterra to any household. The system has been operating from 28/10/2023 and has since been very reliable efficient throughout day and night time primarily due to the batteries accumulated charge during daylight time, so far showing a little credit on my electricity bill. I wish to thank Sunterra and particularly those mentioned above for delivering the solar project for us. Best wishes from Alex & Marina, West Lakes.
Good Product- just check your roof after they leave – Had Solar Panels and Battery Installed in Jan 2021. Was very happy with the system, so got them to add a second Battery in November 2022 plus an automatic blackout switchover. We noticed our ceiling paint peeling a few months later and discovered their installers had punched holes in our roof installation and left 4 tiles open in our roof, so… Read more

Avoid at all costs if you want a stress-free life! – This has been a long and painful affair for 12 months now and has honestly been the worst experience dealing with a business we’ve ever encountered. Firstly, they were quick to lock in a sale. Wasn't entirely clear the install was being done by a third party (Crowlz) here in Melbourne. Day of install, installer can't install the planned amount of… Read more
panels or in outlined arrangement on roof which causes issues with the quote. After agreeing to a revised setup, the installer proceeds and breaks a number of (flat) roof tiles and without telling us, helps themselves to a small pile of spares in our garden. They also broke a number around various parts of the roof that have now been patch-fixed with silicon. System setup seems to go well, initially. First major down-pour of rain leaks appear across 2 bedrooms causing ceiling swelling and plaster of walls to become loose and hanging off the walls while water drips through. Try to emergency contact Sunterra but they're closed on weekends so no help at all with leaks coming through into the house (panic). A couple days after frantic calls to Sunterra, the installer comes back to try fix the issues. Does their best to fix the areas where the problems appear to be. Installer arranges a plasterer and a painter to repair the interior bedroom damage after multiple follow-up calls to Sunterra about the repairs. Plasterer, patches the areas with no issues. Painter (arranged by Crowlz) was terrible. Couldn't colour match the ceiling and we ended up having him back on 3 different dates due to leaving a patchy, uneven finish. Time to install the battery... leading up to New Years eve and we have a date for Sunterra's guys to do the work. They don't arrive at all on the date and time we were given by customer service team but the day after (without a notification). Battery installers were swearing and unhappy at the work the other installers had done particularly about placement of the inverter. As we purchased the system to monitor it ourselves with the supporting app, the addition of the battery to our system broke our ability to connect properly via wifi and observe our system and usage. I asked them why we can't connect (ShinePhone app & Growatt system) and were told we need to contact customer support which was closed for the next few days. Spent days searching online for ways to get our wifi system account working without success. Finally in contacting support when they re-opened, they advise us that the battery installers were actually at fault as they hadn't disconnected from our account. Yay, we can observe our system again! Couple of months pass and then another leak appears, and then another, and then another. Turns out nearly every single point where the installer has made holes through our tiles has caused leaks (be careful if you have flat tiles apparently). We've also faced multi-week silences in response to fixing the resulting damage. So after constant calls to them, Sunterra finally sent out one of their own technicians to fix a recurring leak point as Crowlz weren't responding to them or I. This technician as part of the work he was doing, took a bunch of our panels offline and left them offline! So we were left for over a week with half of our production not working at all. Cool, after realising what the issue was he came back and turned them back on. Then, another leak appeared through the same spot. Another call out to fix the same spot again. To handle the outstanding interior leak damage on our bedroom ceiling and door frame, Sunterra farmed the work out to tradies through HiPages. This resulted in us having to have 3 people on different occasions come in to our house and assess the damage for quoting. Then, our battery stopped working entirely. So with the battery not charging/discharging, I had to keep calling Sunterra who were back and forth with the manufacturer Growatt. Eventually while on a call with them, I shut down and rebooted our system as instructed. No luck, the battery is still not working. So another booking for the technician to return and he does. Tries a new battery - same issue not working. Tries a new inverter with both batteries - still not working. So has to disconnect our entire system and remove it from our house to be sent back to Growatt for investigation. We’re informed that the models are faulty. Now, we’re really starting to become frustrated. We paid 10k for a system that is not working at all and everything apart from the panels have been removed from our property. The technician scheduled us in for the following Monday morning to return and install a fresh new inverter and battery. Monday morning rolls around after a weekend without solar, and the poor guy has covid. No backup person available to install for us. Calls to Sunterra on Wednesday and Thursday and finally we have someone coming on Friday to do the install. Call from installer on Friday am that he is coming. Late Friday afternoon and no-one has turned up. I’m messaging the installer and Sunterra to which I’m told he can’t make it that day. So here we are, 2 weeks without any system at all - 3 without a functioning battery, a minimum of 30 calls to Sunterra in 12 months, over 20 different occasions we’ve had to make ourselves available at our property and no end to our issues in sight. All with a 5 month old infant in the house. My recommendation is steer clear of Sunterra for your own sanity.
Positive reviews
Sunterra did a very satisfactory job of installing solar storage batteries for me. I would describe their work by using the '3 Es'. EXCELLENCE, EXCEEDING EXPECTATION. The two Sunterra staffers whom I dealt with; Parker and Elaine, were extremely helpful and provided sound advice all along the way. Edwin. Show details
I rarely write reviews but figured this probably warrants one. We had a 6.6kwh solar system and inverter installed by Sunterra back in 2021. Recently for unknown reasons, the Growatt inverter malfunctioned after working perfectly for years. The team at Sunterra very quickly liaised with Growatt, had a replacement under warranty approved within 24… Read more
hours of me providing their requested information, and sent someone out to replace the inverter the very next day, now we are up and working again. I have never had such a quick response to a warranty claim. Not only was the system very competitively priced, it has stood the test of time so far including that when it stopped working, they honoured thier warranty with no argument or fuss at all.
Only thing I will note is that they left a few holes in the roof when they installed back in 2021 which were fixed by them with silicon, but not really ideal, so probably just something to be aware of. Very happy over all.
We recently got our solar system upgraded and added battery through Sunterra, their services were excellent, the installation team was very professional and focused on their work. Show details
Negative reviews
Sunterra were brilliant initially, we purchased a large solar system with a battery, then added extra batteries. Unfortunately our inverter has failed after only 18-19 months of use and Sunterra are dragging their heels on getting a replacement due to it being a warranty claim. Feeling very frustrated after 1.5 weeks of not having our system… Read more

Good quality products, however disgraceful design and service. real disconnect between the company HO and SA office. My system was installed and found to be non-compliant, no fireproof sheet between battery and flammable wall, and Sunterra dodged, delayed and disappointed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. AVOID. We paid our deposit and were met with complete silence. No follow-up, no confirmation — nothing. After a full week of ignoring us, they suddenly tried to shift the blame onto their sales consultant for being off sick, as if it’s our fault he didn’t set an out-of-office message. That alone shows how poorly this… Read more
company is managed.
Then, after ignoring every email we sent, they booked a site inspection for tomorrow… only to follow it up with another email saying management had decided they would not be continuing with our job. No explanation. No accountability. Just a last-minute cancellation after wasting our time.
We had asked multiple times for clarity on the micro-inverters, system layout, finance options, and a proper inspection. All ignored. Three follow-up emails — zero response. The only communication they managed was a condescending “timeline” email and then pulling the pin entirely.
If this is how they treat paying customers before installation, imagine what the rest of the process would look like. And honestly, if management treats Google reviews the same way they treat their customers, that alone is a strong sign to avoid them.
We should have listened to the reviews. We’re now looking elsewhere — and strongly recommend others do the same.

Your organisation was very good and your instructions and your information was clear and spot on. It would be appreciated if this PAT on the back was also conveyed to the installation team that installed our solar today. Thanks again Brenton
Horrible experience from the start, wanted full amount upfront for a battery and day of install, they wanted even more money,.and chinese speaking installer with his sidekick took off without saying a word. There are no words to describe how bad this company is, STAY AWAY from them! Show details

Top company for your solar system – Did my homework regarding which panels, inverter and battery to install and looked for installers who used that equipment. Sunterra came up trumps. definitely worth the effort – I don't write many positive reviews but compared to another company who left us in the lurch , these people are fantastic . they price matched and delivered . Installation by earthed electrical was polite, quick and easy. you have to go local to get peace of mind and these guys at Melrose park SA are impressive . My son drives past every morning and commented on the amount of deliveries they get so must be doing something right. Show details
Terrible customer service with no follow up – Installation was completed, but they forgot to silicone the roof. Anyway, it rained and my ceiling leaked in 3 places. Then my roof leaked again in another spot - the same issue is still not sorted. Look, mistakes happen, and while the company admits liability and has sent trades (eventually) to fix it, the customer service has been TERRIBLE. I'm the one having to chase up what's happening after I've been aggrieved from their mistakes. There is only one person to talk to, no way to escalate issues, and no one gets back to you. I'm so done with this company!!
Great Service!! – I’ve recently taken up a deal which was offered by Sunterra to increase my battery volume. The sales team produced a very good solution and price to match.
