Ridiculously poor customer service and average product
Purchased a SWDVK-849804B2D in May 2019 and got it installed professionally. A few months later, 1 camera failed. I sent Swann an email but never heard back and I forgot to follow up.
Fast forward to August 2020, my family noticed that the cameras stopped recording - we could only view a live feed. Submitted a ticket enquiry #00384219 to see if there’s any solution but I have yet to hear back.
Just last month, the HDD unit started making a ticking noise and I sent an email again to Swann for help.
No prizes for guessing but I haven’t hear...d back from Swann at all. The product is average, does the job but not worth the hassle when trying to deal with customer service. Wish I had taken the advice of others to invest in a slightly better CCTV system. Hate to admit it but unfortunately the saying “Buy cheap buy twice” is accurate here. Doubt my issue will get resolved so to anyone reading this, please take your business elsewhere.

This is now my 3rd SWANN security system (2 for me, 1x for family member) all 3 have died within 2 years.
I am never buying swann again!
Firstly the harddrives do not last, all 3 have had a HDD issues and needed to be replaced.
My current home I have a DVR8-4780 unit with 6 cameras.
First the HDD died. As it was not a huge priority financially I left it for a few months. When I decided to change the HDD the picture from the HDD to monitor looked like it had shifted around 30% left(off the screen) I put it in the too hard basket again.
Avoid this brand at al cost.
I have a SWIFI-SPOTCAM that cant show me live play or recordings. This is my third camera. After the original purchase, Swann did an untested firmware update that rendered the camera unuseable and so they replaced it. Last Sept they had an outage and again my camera wouldn't work. They've sent me another and this one doesnt work either. Techs try their best, but they're hamstrung by an inferior product.
Best to give Swann cameras a miss and save the frustration.

Overall this does not work as advertised and until SWANN updates the software it is almost useless. The SWANN support line team are patient and helpful but they seem to me to be working with defective product and without up to date information.
The cameras 4K images are excellent once the camera LAN cables are upgraded. I used cat 7 and Cat 8 LAN leads.
I discarded the LAN camera leads supplied by Swann as they significantly degraded the image but not as badly as the Cat 6 lead from Jaycar I tried even though it was half the length.
I tried several versions of Swann desktop remote control software provided by their help line. ...A couple of versions did not register the NVR at all and none of the others synchronized with all the features of the NVR control box software. One version crashed by closing whenever one of the features was selected. I tried the Web Browser App that Customer Support referred me to and that also did not work fully enough to be of practical use. This App no longer installed on the latest web browsers at all and was only installable on that heritage browser, Internet Explorer. After hours and hours trialing a number of different help line suggestions and watching support line workers remotely access my desktop I was finally escalated to first level Tech who explained that none of the remote control software has worked since the NVR firmware was updated. In short - the remote software no longer works and a very limited phone App does work but does not access enough functions to be of much practical use. I have been told by two level 2 help line tech support consultants that Swann Security VMS P2P 2.1.96_2020.05 will be updated to work with the latest NVR firmware but they did not know when. I asked tech support for a link to a place on their website where updates to this software will be announced or where can I sign up for Email updates of new software version releases. I was given a couple of suggestions that did not seem searchable so I wrote the request on the Support page and received the reply that the remote control software would work on my computer. I asked for an answer to my question and am awaiting a reply. After an earlier request I sent on the support page I get regular Emails repeating that my message has been deleted unread. The cameras (model NHD 885MSB) need additional illumination to produce forensically useful images. As far as I can judge the camera LEDs emit a large proportion of light in the visible spectrum and perhaps not enough in the infra red spectrum. • They advertise the position of the cameras at night to intruders. • In most of my installations they don’t provide enough illumination at night to provide useful images • They attract flying insects which attract spiders and spider webs. • The insects and moving webs can trigger false alarms. • In some situations the LEDs cause halos of light on images. On most of my camera installations I need to be able to disable the red LED lights and provide alternative illumination to avoid these adverse consequences. I wrote asking for this disabling function to be written into future versions of the NVR firmware or alternatively for a repair manual or even parts diagrams or wiring diagrams to help me disconnect the LEDs and to repair the cameras in case of future failure. I received a reply saying that night vision did not work without the LEDs. I repeated that it did not work well enough without external illumination anyway. I asked for a reply to my question. I am awaiting a reply.
Swann One Smart Hub - Made Redundant - No support -do NOT buy (Swann Support Enquiry - 00689894)
I bought a Swann One Smart Hub about 4 years ago and it worked okay, not great or even good, but just okay (less than average and less than what I expected). I then sold the house and stored the security system for 3 years. Now (2021) I went to install it again just to find that the Swann One system is no longer support and that we have to upgrade. You have to be kidding me. I'm not that stupid that I would be hooked in to another system that they may stop supporting. I would not ever install another Swann One system.
So I bought a WiFi wireless camera. Easy to set up but would not record. Spent 1/2 a day on line or a phone call with the help line. They sent a replacement that is even worse.
Will not record even if I try record manually. Will not turn on quick enough. You could break into the car and be in the next suburb before it turns on.
Will take it back and ask for my money back as it is not fit for purpose.
Won’t buy these again
I purchased two wire free security cameras from Harvey Norman in January this year (2021).
Setting the cameras up was easy enough and picture quality is good. Naturally, another source of lighting is required to get night vision, ie sensor lights.
The cameras are motion activated and here is the first short coming. There appears to be a significant delay between obvious motion and recording. It is not unusual to just get a glimpse of a person that is already out of range of the camera. It is also not uncommon for the camera not to detect moveme...
Broke right out of 1 year warrenty - just avoid
Camera unable to function right after 1 year warrenty.
Had to say the supports are actually pretty responsive - they did response to emails and are answering calls.
But they are just telling you: It broke, nothing we can do, too bad it is out of warrenty.
The cameras itself are not expansive, probably one of cheapest on the market, but this a product about security, you definately dont want to find it broke randomly. And it's also pricey in Australia to set it up - wiring up etc.
Even if you are diying - you dont want to having to randomly clim...

I bought two of the latest tech home cameras & Both my home cameras have stopped functioning, after service is pathetic and i am sick of companies not backing up their products.
DO NOT BUY SWANN security anything, cheap crap that doesn't last 6 months.

Great system but needs improved phone app
I have installed the Swann wire-free camera this morning. While the installation was in line with the setup of similar systems, for non tech people it might be a little difficult. I have installed the camera around 70 meters away from my house to monitor my driveway. I have an outside wifi antenna in line of sight of the camera. While the setup is working as expected, time will reveal it's durability. I do find the phone app aesthetically acceptable and traversable, but the underlying code has not been thoroughly tested. This shows in the way of small glitches when adjusting settings and deleting recorded videos. That said it is livable to work with. More work on the phone app and maybe the release of a web interface would be great.
This product is total crap. Dont buy it.

We’ve had a Swann Security wifi camera for less than 2 years and during that time have rarely been able to view livestream or playback recordings via the app - so what’s the point? We persevered though as occasionally, the app did what it was supposed to do. However, last week the camera went “offline”, yet again. We’ve usually been able to go through the painful process of setting everything up again from scratch. But this time we couldn’t move past the error message: “There is a misconfiguration of the device”. After two frustrating hours we...determined that the wifi network SSID the app was trying to connect to was different to the wifi network SSID being transmitted by the actual camera - therefore impossible to connect. We spent over an hour on the phone with technical support and they were useless. While the technician understood the issue, they couldn’t offer a solution. Basically it was “sorry, can’t help you”, then end of call. Not even an offer to replace our camera or at least offer a discount on a new one.
Avoid. Useless wifi camera due to app
Every time on opening app the firmware upgrade starts resulting in a disconnected camera. The firmware upgrade freezes the camera and the app and nothing happens (update in progress still showing after 38hours)
Big waste of time and money
Bought a pair of cameras, one of them had metal shaving in the camera lens and required the receiver to be 1-2 meters away to get a wifi signal over 50kbps, the other camera works fine
tech support took 20 minutes to tell me to plug my internet cables in then abandoned then support chat
so far, i'm honestly really disgusted these guys sell faulty products then treat new customers with such rudeness i dont see anything left to do but get a refund and never buy the from swann again
the App is also pretty unresponsive, and the "talk" feature doesnt work at all
Unreliable and a waste of money
Bought camera The mobile apps was dropping off the date and time was behind . Been reset several times still the same and play back take forever . The recording not working properly . I regretted of spending big money to buy this product. I reckon you pay for the looks but not performance. Hopefully can upgrade soon with different product.

Not Worth The Cost
I bought a Swann dvr8-4580v in March 2019. Installed it myself and it was fine enough to use. Had initial teething issues, but i got used to it. The unit has recently stopped working, it just sits there stuck on a blue loading screen and never progressing. I didnt change any settings, there was no apparent reason as to why it stopped working - it just decided that it had enough of being useful. I called Swann for assistance and after running me through exactly the same steps i found on the internet, i got the usual, "your out of warranty, take it to a repairer".... Now at least i have an $800 paper weight and several dummy camera scattered about my eaves.
Biggest piece of crap i have ever seen
Well, what can i say, sometimes we make mistakes and this was one of them.Made the fatal mistake of purchasing the Swann SWIFI-SPOTCAM-GL 1080p WiFi Spotlight Outdoor Security Camera.From the word go it was a disaster.Would not connect to wifi no matter what i tried.Hard wired it and now works but will not record at all on any motion detection.Absoloutley useless.Smashed it and went and bought a ring one.Works perfectly.
Bought 4 swaan cameras and after the upgrade of the app they will no longer connect, got sent out 4 née ones but explained to them they will not work but they assured me they will so now waiting for a call back regarding this, I am going to ask to upgrade the cameras as it’s the same price as I paid for these ones and hope a different version works I’m so disappointed as I have no security at the moment and had to go buy a security camera for Bunnings whilst I wait for this issue to be sorted !

I have 4K DVR Colour night vision camera’s with no spotlights.
My problem is I would like to know what type of bulb would I need to have in my security lights (I have seperate to the cameras) to make the cameras record in colour at night? I have noticed they do record in colour when I have my door open and the interior light shines out at night. I had another problem and asked this question at the time but the person could not help me, that was enquire #00668161
