don't buy this product, very unsafe and at best below average performance – Was very excited to replace my iron with this steamer but what a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Firstly it is very unsafe and to try and effectively do some usual ironing I had to resort to using an oven glove to stop the steam from burning me as I attempted to Iron. Much slower than using a regular iron (even for someone who hates using on Iron). Hot… Read more
water drops regularly onto the floor and the header gets very hot too. Definitely did not find it fit for purpose and a definite safety hazard.
New ~ Worked for first 5 mins, then Stopped – We purchased this steamer a few years ago to help make life easier with an extremely busy lifestyle. Tried it out & it wouldn't start! Put it away and forgot about it because we were so busy. I then pulled it out today in an attempt to give it another go. We followed the instructions and low-and-behold it worked well...... but for only 5… Read more
mins!!!! It then stopped working completely. Seems that the water tank may have a leak which is preventing it from working but am not entirely certain. Anyway, I dont have the receipt anymore so, I guess it's been a waste of money.
Got 5 years usage, then it tried to electrocute me – As per many reviews, mine has started tripping the safety switch too. That said, we had around 5 years usage, which isn't terrible, and these reviews weren't apparent back then. I had begun to notice some apparent calcification dropping out of it in recent months and if I had knocked the unit out more often, it may have lasted longer. I was a fan and far prefer steaming over ironing. Might need to try another brand this time. Show details
Not worth it long term - even if it's on sale – Given this steamers RRP is around $229 the fact that I got it for $150 I thought was amazing. It was good, not incredible, when I first got it. I got it 2 years ago but after about a year of use it started to spit out water, nothing crazy so I thought it was me. Now, it drenches my clothes, me and the floor, I'd like to add that it's hot water.… Read more
I've tried different things to see if it was me, judging by the other comments, it's not.
I don't even have the heart to try and sell it because I don't want to take someones money for this, as well as potentially have them burn themselves. Such a shame.
Power trips causing shutting down the whole house's electricity – Bought this from Myer when on sale. When I first bought it it was ok, but as time goes by, the performance was getting worse and worse and could not get much wrinkles off despite the steam was getting hotter and hotter. I put up with until just after warranty expired, it decided to trip the power of the house. Whenever it was plugged in, the… Read more
whole house's power was shut down and the main power needed to be switch back on.
I thought it was a waste to chuck it so I searched Tefal website to find an official repairer. We called him and he said he stopped repairing Tefal a couple months ago. Called other private repairer , they said it would cost $50 to just inspect it. I assume even if it was repairable it would cost more than purchase price. I only bought it for $99, who wants to spend more in repairing than buying a new one.
What a joke ! Now I have to really throw it away... Would not buy another Tefal product ! !
Quick, smart and reliable – I am one of those ladies that enjoys ironing. So when I came upon the steamer I thought just for a quick item it will suffice. I have been using my steamer a lot more as opposed to my iron. I find the ease of the steamer and quickness of steaming garments very satisfying. True, it takes some getting used to and upon further use you find what is… Read more
good for you and how to make use of the steamer to your ability. The only downer is it’s not suitable for bed sheets, therefore the need of the iron is still in use. I enjoy my steamer and will replace if ever need be.
Beware though, it does excel hot steam and at times may splutter hot water. This is rare, but just be aware.
Love my steamer – I have had my steamer for 3years and today it decided to blow up. I used it twice per week and definitely got good use out of it, plus it worked wonders on my wedding dress. I am trying to find a similar one, maybe even a notch up, any recommendations? Show details
Waste of Money – Just bought this steamer in January sales 2017. Thought I would be more inclined to iron if I didnt have to drag an ironing board out. Used for first time today and it leaked from the bottom all over my floor. Will be taking it back tomorrow. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE!!! Show details
Very pleased indeed – I can at least give a review based on the fact that I had never used a garment prior, that I am fastidious and fussy about ironing and I am one which likes to press just about everything. 1. Dissapointment - no creaser! I want one! First of all I recommend that you appreciate it as a completely different device just as you would an iron… Read more
for the first time. The garment steamer is more of a challenge due to the fact that our parents didn't have one. So this means learning and gaining a skill a little more challenging. If you are like me, super busy with limited time to achieve top class results, you want it all to happen within 30 minutes of getting the garment steamer out of the box.
So not to drag my review out. I absolutely love it! My neighbour came in and saw me use it. She immediately purchased one. The only time I ever use the iron is for bedsheets, pillow cases, tea towels and to achieve a fine crisp crease on business shirts as well as a well ironed collar.
As for suits the steamer is absolutely brilliant. Love it on my delicate blouses, no heat settings required just off you go with results in a few seconds. About 30 seconds to steam a T-shirt! Just love it. Have had it for 15 months. No I will never part with it. Saves so much time! Ironing is a chore. The garment steamer just makes it so much a lighter and easier tast. Just make sure you have a lot of hangers. I keep steamed clothing hung for a while before box folding or placing in the wardrobe just so any condensation or slight dampness is gone.
Just wish they had a creaser!
dont buy! Hot water leak out and burn my hand!!!! – Don't buy don't buy once it heat up the water leak out and often burned on my hand I purchased last year just begin to use it recently can't really refund it!!!!! so regret that I brought it at Bing Lee!!!!!! My hand is still in pain!!!! Keep away from it I'm not kidding!!! WARNING!!!!!
Great Domestic Garment Steamer – I love this steamer as it has a good sized water tank, heats up quickly, doesn't splutter hot water and keeps a steady stream of steam. Keeps my silk shirts, silk sleepwear, wool/cashmere and linens looking great. Silk stays shiny and wool/cashmere stays soft. I now rarely need to wash my wool/cashmere garment as the steamer deodorises and… Read more · 1
sanitises as well as taking wrinkles out. I wouldn't recommend for ironing cotton shirts etc as a flat iron is far quicker and more effective. My husband freshens up his suits with the steamer as it deodorises as well as steams out wrinkles. Would love Tefal to make the adjustable telescopic pole longer so that longer garments can be easily steamed. Recommend highly.
Do not buy – I bought mine for $169 from its original price of $199 thinking that I just got a bargain. I am no good using the traditional iron and thought of using one of these instead. I had high hopes that it will be a breeze to iron my clothes now but it was terrible. It doesn't straighten the creases and doesn't work at all..:( and worse it leaks too. I… Read more
am very disappointed. I'll be returning it tomorrow. I guess I just have to practice using the normal iron then.

Not a fan – I read the reviews before purchase and seen a few water leak issues, I thought I would still give one a chance. I bought it one saturday and returned it the following, water leaks from the base, this may be due to conednsation running back to the base from the hose and takung the path of least resistance.

Water leaking – Setting the steamer was easy. Using it was a different story. Water leaked from the tank. And I noticed the unit was getting hot. I am dissapointed. Will take it straight back.
leaking water – I was very excited about having a steam iron. Easy to move, took up less space than an ironing board. always ready. the boys could use it. Turned it on and it spluttered and leaked. I emptied the catchment. and then it did not work. I will take it back to the shop. leaking water, not heating to steam. not working
Easy to use, quick heating time – This is a great Device for any one who has to wear suits on a daily basis. Saves on dry leaning costs and is better for the suit fabric. Can also be used to steam dresses etc. it is so simple to use and has handy attachments. Also quite stylish Ease of use, price, attachments Bit top heavy
Water leaking from tank – When water is heated by this steamer, water leaked from the intersection of water tank and base. Tried to pull out water tank and re-put the tank in serveral times, and water leaking always occurred. Had to return this item just a few hours after purchasing it. This problem seems to be related to its design, so I'd guess this problem is not just with the item I purchased. Water leaking
