Heavy and contradictory to a lifetime of ironing practices. Totally unsuitable for purpose.
I bought the iron, thinking it was a great idea, at Peters of Kensington. No staff were around to discuss the features of the iron. At home, I discovered there was little material to explain the optimal use of the iron - just a sheet of pictures which failed to illustrate answers to any of my questions. The iron is incredibly heavy and cannot be stood on end as with conventional irons. It must be replaced in its charging pod, which is required at more frequent intervals than a conventional iron will remain hot. The only effective way to us...e the iron and its pod is by screwing the pod onto the end of the ironing board as it is too heavy to wield on a nearby surface and the pod slips around with the frequently repeated return of the iron for recharging unless it is properly anchored. However, one first needs to find an ironing board which will accommodate this attachment. Ha!! Try and find a modern ironing board that does not have all the plastic and wire bits at the end to accommodate a conventional iron. By making a few adaptations to my very old board, it would accept the plastic bolt attachment, but would not collapse for compact storage unless the bolt attachment were removed. How fabulously convenient! To use the new iron, I have first to re-attach the plastic bolt (which is pretty flimsy and of doubtful durability), then remove it before I can store my ironing board in its cupboard. Both the retailer and Tefal have been utterly unhelpful, basically dismissing my concerns as unwarranted. Buyer beware.....
Purchased in May 2019.
Best iron ever
I have owned this iron for over 6 years and can’t fault it. I love the freedom of having no cord and the ability to iron quite a lot before it needs a quick 5 second recharge is great. I would never go back to a cordless after using this product.
This is a good item as it does deliver on what it promises. I however dont like where the spout for the water is situated. It seems its in the way. All up though it cut through my ironing in super time and I am happy with this irons results.

I love ironing shirts now!
This one has made my life so easy. It generates huge amounts of steam and Les can be used as a steamer. It’s gentle on all materials and can even be used to own the duvet cover once it’s on the bed. And as the title says shirts pressed in minutes.
This iron is the perfect weight and provides the right amount of heat. I like how fast it heats up. It doesn't stain my clothes. Get wrinkles quickly and easily. This product is highly recommended for any young professional! It works well. Reasonable price. My mother likes it. I love it and I'm happy with my input. I would recommend it to friends. Even my aunt wanted it, and she went home and used it once, and she said it was very good.
I brought this for my 69 year old mother and she swears by it. It makes her get through her ironing so much faster and it is a great product that is easy to use and store out of the way when it is not used. It's even easy to take with you
This is a good product when it works, i find if you are ironing a whole bunch of stuff it does not stay to temp for very long. if you are ironing just 1 piece hear and there it is a godsend and very quick but not practical for a whole load of washing maybe only 15 minutes at a time.
The cordless iron is a godsend
I have been waiting years for one of these to come out as most irons I've owned the power cords have been super short but with the Tefal cordless makes ironing easy! The charger slot is sometimes hard to put the iron into but once it's in you just charge until the light changes. Really it's like any other iron but without a cord! Which I love
Not as useful as I hoped
I got this for my sewing room so I would have some flexibility but I find myself reaching for my old corded iron as this just doesn't do the job I'd hoped. It doesn't seem to get as hot as my other iron and while it's not a huge issue reheating, it does slow things down. I also find the handle very wobbly which makes it feel a bit insecure. I really feel like I've wasted my money with this and can't recommend it at all.
Very fast to iron clothes
I was sceptical at first and not sure where the cordless iron can deliver, but now I am very happy with my purchase. I can use it and sometimes just need a few little strokes and everything is great and wrinkle free. I once had my dress on the hanger while the cordless iron was doing its job. Very highly recommended! The only downside- it is expensive!
Works a treat and makes it so much easier
My iron heats up really quickly and it a pleasure to use. To the point that I had a about 10 customers that would drop off their ironing and I would do all their ironing for them at a small fee, this was a easy and effective way to earn money, plus plenty of potential as not many like to iron, but this iron made it worth it

Excellent - I’m excited about an iron?!!
My trusty iron of 6 years suddenly shorted out so I went to Harvey Norman to get a new one; not a very exciting purchase (who enjoys spending money on an iron?!) I bought this one as I thought cordless could make it more functional and easy to use. Upon checkout I discovered it was discounted by $70 (I paid $99) which was a bonus and has a 2 year warranty. At home, I plugged it in and got started. I had read a few reviews at the shop so already had an idea of how to use it. Keeping the steam trigger held on while ironing is a great rip. And als...o, the silk and lower settings aren’t hot enough, however the hotter settings worked excellently on some delicate fabrics I tested it one (I ended up ironing 10 shirts and dresses and I hate ironing!) This iron made ironing pleasurable! So easy to use, I love the cordless feature, it heats up so quickly after returning it to the charger (2-3 seconds). Big fan of the iron!
Iron is ok, Tefal isn’t!
In July I purchased a Tefal iron with a $30 eftpos cashback offer. I met all the criteria and posted the required documentation to Tefal and never heard back. I sent them two follow up emails to the email on their AU contact page and again, never heard back.
Today I called Tefal (number on AU website) and spoke to an extremely disinterested man. He told me that he was in Europe and couldn’t help me. His solution was telling me to email again!
I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor and was told there was no one else I could speak to. I ...asked how I could lodge a complaint, he told me that I couldn’t. Tefal have failed to follow through with an offer they advertised and demonstrated horrible customer service. I’m really shocked and disappointed with this experience.
A great iron
This is a great iron that has made ironing so much easier without a cord getting in the way. It heats up quickly and has excellent heat and steam. It irons my work shirts really well. It needs to be returned back to its base frequently (about every 30 seconds) and this can take some getting used to, but I find it’s just enough time to iron a section of a shirt before you need to adjust the position of the shirt anyway. I love this iron and would definitely recommend it.

Good iron but.....
So I bought this iron and love it. BUT, there are a few problems. First, this iron is marketed as being designed to take tap water. Please don’t! Despite keeping the ion filter clean, it blows little white chunks out with the steam burst button. Second it is a “no drip” seal. I’m not exactly sure what this refers to but it obviously isn’t what I thought. After I have filled the water canister and close the lid, the spray nozzle has a little squirt! And by using the steam burst button it does also squirt water out of the base so you end up with wet patches on your garments.
That said, it charges fast and having no cord is awesome. The reason I bought it in the first place. It is also a great iron at getting out creases.
Wife loves ironing now
After reading some reviews that the iron was too heavy and taking a long time to re-heat I was a little hesitant about buying this iron.
I'm happy to report that whilst it is a little heavier than our last iron it is not overly heavy, besides, the extra weight adds to the efficiency.
It heats up fast and re-heats to maximum by the time you pick it up after moving or turning the garment being ironed. The steam function is strong and efficient without leaks.
This is the best iron we have ever owned, it makes a monotonous job easier. Now the ironing no longer piles up in the basket.
Very poor design
Heat is low
Takes too long to iron as one has to return it back to base for charge
Cant stand it upright
Water tank is small as well
My old Phillips standard iron was fantastic.....no frills just did what it had to do...IRON without any hassles
I don't think this codeless model will work for me!

FAST and FABULOUS! - Perfect Iron for a working Mum of 4 kids: fast, stress-free ironing
I LOVE this Tefal Freemove 2400W cordless iron! My last iron (a top of the range corded Philips 3100) was great for over 10 years until it blew up recently. However, the cord always annoyed me, getting in the way and pulling on my clothes and crushing the fabric after I'd ironed each section unless I held the cord away from the ironing board! But, after ready heaps of bad reviews about the latest corded steam irons and then reading about the Tefal cordless iron, I thought I'd give the Tefal Cordless Free Move a try. I don't understand the bad r...eviews about this iron. I read them all before I decided to buy this iron and give it a go, and SO GLAD I did! Maybe some people don't iron the way I do or don't read the instructions??? (Actually, the instructions are in diagrammatic form in case you can't read well... but if you don't understand the pictures, the Tefal website has more information and they are contactable for questions.) The Tefal heats up quickly, produces heaps of steam as long as you have the dial set to one of the steam settings (obviously) and keep the steam trigger button depressed as you go (takes a bit of getting used to, but easy enough as the trigger is under the handle and is easy to squeeze as you iron). Or there is also a Turbo Boost button as well for an extra burst of steam. I have had no problems getting creases out of my very crushed cotton and linen clothes. I never use starch, although I have always found a water spray bottle handy to use on really crushed cottons before I iron them, as none of the irons I have had (including this one) spray enough water (or mist properly) on the clothes to make a difference. I am a working mother of 4 kids and although I iron all their poly/cotton school uniforms and my work clothes all at once on the weekend (in the lounge room in front of the TV), I tend to iron other clothes as needed, so I leave my ironing board set up all the time except when we have visitors, so I don't waste time putting my ironing board up and down etc. However, the whole base and iron lift off the clamp easily so you can put them away and fold your ironing board within seconds. You just leave the clamp attached to your ironing board all the time (it doesn't interfere with folding your ironing board either). Bl**dy clever if you ask me! I don't have any problem placing the iron back on its base within 30 seconds, (I see that some reviewers complained about this) as I normally iron sections of my clothes and stand my iron up anyway while I re-position the item of clothing, so it's just getting used to lying the iron down on the base instead of standing it up - no biggie! (and it re-heats by the time I've re-positioned the clothes - within seconds!) My only worry before purchase was that the base might take up too much room on my ironing board (a really old basic ironing board) and that I might need to purchase a new fancy ironing board with a large iron-tray on the end (I see another reviewer said she replaced her ironing board), however the clamp allows you to position the base on the corner edge of the ironing board, and you can swivel the base around on the clamp to face outwards, still allowing room to iron long trousers etc. The base might get in the way of ironing large tablecloths or duvet covers etc. but this is the trade-off for having no cord to get in the way, and the positives far exceed the negatives. I have even thought about mounting the base on a table close-by my ironing board instead so I have full use of the ironing board, but I'll look at that option later when I need to iron a larger item as it is not worrying me at the moment, as I can easily iron long pants, dresses etc without restriction. The water in the tank lasts longer than my last iron, even when I hold the steam button nearly the whole time that I'm ironing! The bottom of the iron is covered in steam holes (76 altogether I think) compared to 64 on my last iron) so you get a more even distribution of steam. And, I haven't had any problems with water spitting or leaking. Like any iron, you must wait until the iron has heated enough (there is an green "iron ready" indicator light) before you use the steam function, as any iron may spit out water at your clothes or drip if you do not wait. (This iron heats up just as fast as any other iron I have used in the past, so a few seconds to ensure that the temperature "iron ready" light is on before you use it ensures that you will have no problems with water spitting or leaking.) It takes tap water, so will have to review later down the track after it has been used for a while. The booklet instructs regular maintenance as with any iron: (This iron is self-cleaning - Heat the iron, unplug it, remove the anti-calc valve and spray the iron over the sink. • To de-scale: Remove the antiscale valve and soak the valve in a cup of white vinegar one or plain lemon juice for 4 hours). I don't think I'll ever go back to a corded iron again! If you hate ironing like me and want a fast uncumbersome iron (without a cord that gets in the way), then I would highly recommend this iron!
Totally CRAP Iron!!!
I have owned many different irons over the years ranging; Sunbeam, Tefal's, and even two versions of the Laura Star.
Without doubt this is the biggest piece of rubbish I have ever used.
The B-I-G downside constant staining. Nothing to do with temperature or the water. Seems to be reaction between sole-plate coating and any spray starch. CRAP!!!
This iron is fantastic - plenty of steam and heat (comparable with a corded iron) and no annoying cord to get in the way. For me, 30 seconds of use before replacing on base is quite adequate, and it only takes two or three seconds to recharge and be ready to go again. The ability to use the steam function with the iron held vertically is great, and the turbo steam fuction delivers a powerful burst of steam. The only issue (which is very minor) is some difficulty in seeing the water level through the purple/blue plastic tank. Overall though, I m...ust say this iron does a great job, is easy to use, and is better than some corded irons I have used. I am intrigued by the anti-calc valve, and looking forward to seeing how effective it is (I've only had the iron a couple of weeks, and the user guide says to clean it monthly, so I'll have to be patient!). I really don't know how anyone could be anything other than pleased with this iron.

Questions & Answers
Could you please tell me the expected life of the battery, in years? Would probably iron a full basket of washing per week.
When I press the steam button under the handle, there doesnt appear to be much steam although this maybe
a fine steam as someone has already mentioned. However, when pressing this button, there is a quiet almost
'rachet' noise from the iron. Is this normal? Thanks in response.
