I had one of these irons previously & it lasted years & was fab but the temperature guide broke so purchased a new one. The new model is nowhere near as good a build quality to the point where I questioned if they were now being made in China instead of France. I’ve had my current one 6 months - the steam button has broken & it now decides it’s… Read more

not re-heating mid iron so I have to keep powering off & on again (who knew I had a computer for an iron). Seriously avoid the new models - they’re lighter, less functions & not cheap!

Absolute Disappointment - Updated 8.11.2020 – Due to chronic Health problems my standing time is very limited, so I needed an Iron which accomplished the job as easily and quickly as possible. My current Iron had been a 'cheapie' purchased from a Supermarket 6 years ago, which unfortunately last week, fell off the ironing board and broke. I thought I would replace my Iron with one I had seen… Read more

advertised, which although it was expensive I was sure that it would accomplish the job I wanted. A little under a week after purchasing my new Iron, I was finally in a position to attack my ironing, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Even using the "Turbo Steam" option, it did not remove the creases from my clothing anywhere near as well as my "cheapie iron" had done, which meant in an attempt to get the desired finish, I had to stand for a much longer period of time, repeatedly going over my clothes to try to get rid of the creases. Along with the 'poor job' done by my 'new Iron' I was unimpressed by the short amount of time the Iron could be used for before it had to be 'returned to the Charger'. I had previously owned a 'Cordless Iron' which I bought with me from New Zealand 20 years ago, so I thought I knew what to expect from my new Iron. All in all, I was extremely disappointed with this Iron and I have approached the Company I purchased it from, asking for a refund but regardless of the outcome, I will be purchasing another 'cheapie tomorrow in readiness for my next 'attack on my ironing'.

UPDATED: 8.11.2020 Checking my "Review History" I was reminded of my Review on this Product so am responding to it now. I was never contacted by the Company for any type of "mediation" as I never heard from this Company in regards to this Review, nor do I hear from them in regard to getting a 'Refund" so I would never Purchase any of their Products again. Needless to say due to the fact that it was so useless I didn't even bother using it, after the initial couple of times, instead I purchased a 'real cheapie' which does a much better job and is much easier to use. Of course too long has passed now for this to be dealt with under the Consumer Guarantee Act and I am unable to find the Receipt so I have put the whole bad experience with this Company in the "NEVER AGAIN FILE"!

FAST and FABULOUS! - Perfect Iron for a working Mum of 4 kids: fast, stress-free ironing – I LOVE this Tefal Freemove 2400W cordless iron! My last iron (a top of the range corded Philips 3100) was great for over 10 years until it blew up recently. However, the cord always annoyed me, getting in the way and pulling on my clothes and crushing the fabric after I'd ironed each section unless I held the cord away from the ironing board! But,… Read more ·  1

after ready heaps of bad reviews about the latest corded steam irons and then reading about the Tefal cordless iron, I thought I'd give the Tefal Cordless Free Move a try. I don't understand the bad reviews about this iron. I read them all before I decided to buy this iron and give it a go, and SO GLAD I did! Maybe some people don't iron the way I do or don't read the instructions??? (Actually, the instructions are in diagrammatic form in case you can't read well... but if you don't understand the pictures, the Tefal website has more information and they are contactable for questions.)

The Tefal heats up quickly, produces heaps of steam as long as you have the dial set to one of the steam settings (obviously) and keep the steam trigger button depressed as you go (takes a bit of getting used to, but easy enough as the trigger is under the handle and is easy to squeeze as you iron). Or there is also a Turbo Boost button as well for an extra burst of steam. I have had no problems getting creases out of my very crushed cotton and linen clothes. I never use starch, although I have always found a water spray bottle handy to use on really crushed cottons before I iron them, as none of the irons I have had (including this one) spray enough water (or mist properly) on the clothes to make a difference. I am a working mother of 4 kids and although I iron all their poly/cotton school uniforms and my work clothes all at once on the weekend (in the lounge room in front of the TV), I tend to iron other clothes as needed, so I leave my ironing board set up all the time except when we have visitors, so I don't waste time putting my ironing board up and down etc. However, the whole base and iron lift off the clamp easily so you can put them away and fold your ironing board within seconds. You just leave the clamp attached to your ironing board all the time (it doesn't interfere with folding your ironing board either). Bl**dy clever if you ask me!

I don't have any problem placing the iron back on its base within 30 seconds, (I see that some reviewers complained about this) as I normally iron sections of my clothes and stand my iron up anyway while I re-position the item of clothing, so it's just getting used to lying the iron down on the base instead of standing it up - no biggie! (and it re-heats by the time I've re-positioned the clothes - within seconds!)

My only worry before purchase was that the base might take up too much room on my ironing board (a really old basic ironing board) and that I might need to purchase a new fancy ironing board with a large iron-tray on the end (I see another reviewer said she replaced her ironing board), however the clamp allows you to position the base on the corner edge of the ironing board, and you can swivel the base around on the clamp to face outwards, still allowing room to iron long trousers etc. The base might get in the way of ironing large tablecloths or duvet covers etc. but this is the trade-off for having no cord to get in the way, and the positives far exceed the negatives. I have even thought about mounting the base on a table close-by my ironing board instead so I have full use of the ironing board, but I'll look at that option later when I need to iron a larger item as it is not worrying me at the moment, as I can easily iron long pants, dresses etc without restriction.

The water in the tank lasts longer than my last iron, even when I hold the steam button nearly the whole time that I'm ironing! The bottom of the iron is covered in steam holes (76 altogether I think) compared to 64 on my last iron) so you get a more even distribution of steam. And, I haven't had any problems with water spitting or leaking. Like any iron, you must wait until the iron has heated enough (there is an green "iron ready" indicator light) before you use the steam function, as any iron may spit out water at your clothes or drip if you do not wait. (This iron heats up just as fast as any other iron I have used in the past, so a few seconds to ensure that the temperature "iron ready" light is on before you use it ensures that you will have no problems with water spitting or leaking.) It takes tap water, so will have to review later down the track after it has been used for a while. The booklet instructs regular maintenance as with any iron: (This iron is self-cleaning - Heat the iron, unplug it, remove the anti-calc valve and spray the iron over the sink. • To de-scale: Remove the antiscale valve and soak the valve in a cup of white vinegar one or plain lemon juice for 4 hours).

I don't think I'll ever go back to a corded iron again! If you hate ironing like me and want a fast uncumbersome iron (without a cord that gets in the way), then I would highly recommend this iron!

Fantastic, does exactly what it's designed to – What a fantastic cordless iron. I purchased this iron to use on board my yacht, there is no excuse for not having nicely ironed clothes even when living aboard a yacht. Although I have 240v mains via the marina, I didn't want a cord getting in the way so I purchased a cordless iron. My research led me to this Tefal FV9965. Used the iron today… Read more

and , wow, it's excellent.

The iron took very little time to heat up and then once off the charging cradle and it works as well as any other 'regular' iron I've used. I put the iron back in its charge cradle when I moved the clothes up/down/along the ironing board and that was more than enough time for the really fast charge to work...wow, the iron never lost heat and it took literally seconds to charge.

It was an easy process of replacing the iron into its charging cradle when repositioning or moving clothing.

The steam worked brilliantly when the iron was off the charging cradle

The iron kept excellent heat and I had to reduce heat on occasions for other fabrics

The iron has great steam and no dribbles of water

All in all, I rated it as 5 stars for the above reasons.

Cheers, Pete

Great iron, glides well, annoying cable-free – Whilst the “charging” time initially is a bit of a nuisance, the benefit of having no cord for me is a win that overcomes this. Many complaints about the weight of the iron but actually this helps you reduce the pressure you have to apply on clothes hence making the job actually easier. CORDLESS but gives you RSI – First cordless iron we have bought . Big mistake ... needs to be replaced to reheat every 30 seconds ... makes ironing even longer not shorter. Heavy and contradictory to a lifetime of ironing practices. Totally unsuitable for purpose – I bought the iron, thinking it was a great idea, at Peters of Kensington. No staff were around to discuss the features of the iron. At home, I discovered there was little material to explain the optimal use of the iron - just a sheet of pictures which failed to illustrate answers to any of my questions. be stood on end as with conventional irons. It must be replaced in its charging pod, which is required at more frequent intervals than a conventional iron will remain hot. The only effective way to use the iron and its pod is by screwing the pod onto the end of the ironing board as it is too heavy to wield on a nearby surface and the pod slips around with the frequently repeated return of the iron for recharging unless it is properly anchored. However, one first needs to find an ironing board which will accommodate this attachment. Ha!! Try and find a modern ironing board that does not have all the plastic and wire bits at the end to accommodate a conventional iron. By making a few adaptations to my very old board, it would accept the plastic bolt attachment, but would not collapse for compact storage unless the bolt attachment were removed. How fabulously convenient! To use the new iron, I have first to re-attach the plastic bolt (which is pretty flimsy and of doubtful durability), then remove it before I can store my ironing board in its cupboard. Both the retailer and Tefal have been utterly unhelpful, basically dismissing my concerns as unwarranted. Buyer beware.....

Not as useful as I hoped – I got this for my sewing room so I would have some flexibility but I find myself reaching for my old corded iron as this just doesn't do the job I'd hoped.
