Telstra T-Hub 2

Excellent when it works – I can't ignore the large number of reviews saying it is unreliable. I bought two knowing they are no longer supported. So far so good and I think they are excellent. Android 4.0.2 tablet still able to run many apps. DECT phone works very well as a speakerphone. Able to play youtube with browser. Sound is good especially on stand. It has Wi-Fi and bluetooth. Ideal kitchen buddy. If you can find a working one at a good price buy it. Show details
Not Good When Hubby Works for Emergency Services – We were told that our existing hand sets would not be compatible with NBN. We got these appalling phones for FREE and gave away our perfectly good Panasonic phones to a mate. We have had constant phone failures since. Only found this out when hubby's response centre was trying to ring him and getting a constant engaged signal. WE SHOULD NOT… Read more
HAVE TO RESET PHONES ON A REGULAR BASIS TO GET THEM TO WORK TELSTRA!!!! Worst thing is that our mate just moved in up the road and our old phones work perfectly for him!!!
Would Not Recommend! – I have had the T-Hub 2 for 2 years, it worked for the first 6 months! The 2 handsets don't hold charge, die when a call comes through, don't sit on the base to charge correctly and the tablet is slow and full but I can't clear it. I have now plugged my old cord landline in and would like to throw this piece of rubbish at the person who recommended it to me!!
Waste of Money – my main problem is the sound quality. I have to keep adjusting the volume so I can hear and sound is fuzzy. Wish I had not been talked into buying. I wonder what I can replace it wth?? Batteries keep failing . Can anyone recommend a suitable mobile which is good value?
Absolute crap – The t-hub is okay as a phone that is it. I can't download anything, my memory is always full, and when I went to the Telstra shop to help me with getting more memory, I was told don't know how to do it. You have to ring India they know how. But. I couldn't understand them. What a waste of time and money.
very slow tablet phone stuffs up – this T Hub 2 is not good, the phone stuffs up regularly and battery is charging even not in use overnight have put my old cordless phone back works over well lots better quality. This Tablet is very slow and don't get much use in a full charge I am sure the phone is very thirsty on electricity with lights going off and charging incessantly.
Just threw mine in the bin after 9 months - totally useless from day 2! – The most useless phone ever!! No wonder they gave us the Thub2 for free... screen went on day 2. Doesn't keep the date and time, poor sound quality, keeps ringing itself and the list goes on. Tablet is bulky, non responsive and crashes. Both now in the bin! Don't buy.
It's worse than one star. Not even worth rating really – Phone dies when you answere it. Phone doesn't charge properly or clear missed calls when checked. Tablet freezes all the time hardly any storage and throws you out of apps constantly. I have now given it to my 7yr old even he hates it. Tablet is extremely slow and very bulky
Waste of money – The Hub 2 tablet work fine for a year now you struggle to hear on it or you make a call and you can hear the person your calling but they can't hear you. The cordless you can't hear or be heard on it and it's always flat as it doesn't sit on the base properly to recharge!!!!! Load of rubbish!!!!!
On my way to purchase another cordless phone – I have had my THub2 for only 8 months. I have had problems such as not being able to call out and or receive calls. The phone rings and then dies when I answer it. I am done with this. I certainly would not recommend this product to anyone. I am off mow to purchase another cordless phone.
Pathetic – We have the phone plus tablet, both are terrible. The tablet is bulky and very slow, battery life poor. The phone only charges after jiggling in the charger to get the connection to work. I would say it is possibly the worst phone we have ever owned. The worst part about this is we haven't even finished paying for it.
Just 12 months on and the T-Hub 2 Handset has crashed! – Unable to get a dial tone contacted Telstra faults, told a technician would need to physically check lines into and outside of residence. 1 week later Tech checked and advised to go to Telstra store for a new T-Hub package - do not under any circumstances do this!!! They are useless, do not stock any home line products and told me to go home and… Read more
phone Telstra ...from home...from a home line I haven't got. I used one of their phones and queued for approx 1 hour only to be told they would call me on my mobile between 6-8pm. Of course this did not happen..
After a frustrating 2 weeks of waiting & another visit to the Telstra shop, someone finally listened and placed an order for a replacement T-Hub, now sitting there as a useless piece of equipment which I haved argued with Telstra about paying for. It has now been 6 weeks since we placed the original call to Telstra Faults. If anyone from Telstra does actually read this....where is my replacement T-Hub with a wireless Handset?
2 stars for the faulty equipment. Zero, Nada, Zilch stars for Telstra assistance!
thub 2 has never worked properly, phone has died abd been replaced and now dead AGAIN – Thub2 does not work, can use weather app only. When phone rings, the phone dies, and you can only answer call on thin which the sound is poor quality. Thub gets flashes of red around the frame constantly and becomes unresponsive. Thub1 was working great, thub2 IS is a useless dust collector. Not happy, can't ring out because phone is dead again

Would give zero stars if it was an option – The handset is cheap and flimsy. Mine would turn off every time I took it off the cradle. After getting it replaced I finally managed to get it working - but I had to stuff paper into the battery compartment. There is no headphone jack - which I absolutely need for handsfree operation. The tablet is heavy and clunky and although you can take calls… Read more
on it - the sound quality is so bad is not practical. The whole kit now sits in a bag in my garage.
Poor quality – We changed our Bigpond package as our kids had moved out and we did not need as large a internet package. Talked into another T Box, has one already and no issues, and also this heap of poor quality rubbish know as T HUB 2. The tablet is just heavy and really has no benefit over our Ipad and Galaxy 10.1. The phones are just poor quality rubbish.… Read more
Sound is poor, glow brightly at night along with stand (in our bedroom like a disco), buttons on phone like poor quality, sharp edged plastic and overall rubbish. Just chucked the tablet, two phones and all bits into a box in the garage. Replaced it with our previously used Uniden cordless phones. Great quality and don't have to push the phone into my ear to hear calls. And yes we did have the call volume as high as it could go. Just a nasty experience and don't waste your money Can't think of anything other than ring tone a bit louder than the Uniden Poor quality plastic, phones have poor call volume, annoying flashing lights which are far too bright for a bedroom
Telstra T hub 2 a bit of a dog? – Telstra gave me a T hub 2 and a wireless DECT telephone when I took up one of their plans when I connected to the NBN. The telephone is working well although it is a bit fiddly at times and you don't get an instruction book. The T hub 2 worked well for about a month and then the touch screen became unresponsive. From the outset, it wouldn't hold… Read more
its location on the weather widget. I would restart the T hub to my site, but the next morning it would always default to Sydney. Everything preloaded on it links to Google or News Corp content. You can remove content. I was streaming radio when I found that I couldn't turn it off. I turned off the modem. When I restarted it, the T hub 2 was still connecting and the radio was still on!. I opened the casing and removed the battery and then reinserted it and reassembled the casing. It connected OK and the main screen came up but I couldn't turn it off and the touch screen was still unresponsive. I chucked it in the bin but had second thoughts and retrieved it and reassembled it again. It worked and connected to the modem but the touch screen was no good. Checked Telstra website for available assistance but decided that it wasn't going to be of any use and so put a hammer though it to avoid further temptation and chucked it back into the bin. T hub 2 like most stuff is made in China and I have to say that I am glad that I didn't pay for it as I would be complaining loudly. As it is, I am not wasting my time by playing with it. Ability to view e mail and social network platforms without having to turn on my computer Didn't last very long at all. Locked into Google and News Corp sites, Poor reliability.
UPGRADE FROM THUB 1 TO THUB 2 - DONT THINK SO! – Had a THUB 1 for a few years but handsets started falling apart. Thought I'd upgrade to THUB 2. Process wasn't as simple as Telstra shop manager advised. But got new equipment and that was a plus - the only one! I thought it reasonable to think the technology would be updated from THUB 1 but not so. While the contacts synchronized between the… Read more
tablet and the handsets that was it. Ring tones on the tablet are different to the ones on the handsets. You have to turn the ringtone on the tablet to 'silent' otherwise you create quite a cacophony of sounds. Now found the time on the tablet doesn't sync. So much for technological advancement. I'm told they two different systems, android and something else. Not my problem. Looks good.
Just OK – Had it for well over a year now. Telstra talked us into buying one since it included 500Gb /month B'band and unlimited Aussie calls land and mobile. The handset was replaced by our older Telstra units, since we were used to them and they sounded better & my wife is tech challenged!. They also upgraded us (no cost) to the integrated gateway but… Read more
lied about the fast broadband. Fact, it IS NOT avai;able here. But the built in modem = less clutter.
Tablet is poor but functions primarily as a phone, and is better than a handset when using speaker function. Love the Tune In radio app, weather widgets. Don't like the memory, I bought a larger sd card thinking I could expand it, alas it only means more room for pictures, NOT apps or upgrades. Playing games quickly lost it's appeal when none could upgrade, I had to delete them all and reboot to get it to improve memory & functionality. Preloaded apps should be removable to free up memory. Overall it has a lot of room for improvement and I would recommend it at HALF the cost! Speaker phone, weather widget, Tune In radio App, reliable so far, good battery life Can't expand memory, cost, can't remove preloaded apps to gain memory
Bad product / Bad customer relations – The product did not work within a day of setting it up - telephone kept dropping out. The problem with base station occurred continuously. Took the T Hub 2 back to Telstra shop and they refused to give our money back for what they called a "change of mind purchase". Manager of store refused to accept that it could be faulty and was very unpleasant… Read more
and sarcastic, virtually calling us liars. He offered to send our brand new product off for repairs, leaving us without a phone for perhaps weeks. We took our complaint to the Ombudsman for telecommunications and after a few days the store manager had a "change of heart"and we got our refund. Not cheap but had some good tablet features, however, if the phone does not work the rest is pointless. Base for charging phone did not work - kept cutting out which meant no incoming calls or messages recorded.
Rubbish phone with a tablet that is a little bit better – The phone part of this package is SHAMEFUL! No stars for you !! The tablet is OK (if you are being kind), 2 stars, works as a digital radio and basic internet page viewer. Doesn't play most types of video. Package total 1 star.........and that is being generous. Battery life is good on tablet, totally random on the phone. The touch screen is… Read more
not as reliably accurate with your swipes and presses, unlike an iPad etc.
The only value here is if you get a new T-Hub 2 pack for 20.....maximum 25% of the retail price. Then throw the phone part out. I'm struggling here to be honest !! The phone is an insult !! The tablet is very limited.
Absolutely hopeless – This has to be on the cheapest nastiest tablet/phone in the world. There are so many issues like.. *it freezes *it can't make or play any videos after 2 weeks *every time you turn it off you have to shut down It is a complete rip off for what you are paying for this. And they expect you to set the service yourself. I would recommend the Samsung galaxy tab 3 which I'm using to type this. the battery lasts a while expensive and cheap quality.
Pathetic tablet, phone line quality extremely poor. Do yourself a favour and dont buy this.
worst Telstra T hub 2 tablet in the world – In the modern world of I pads and galaxy tab 3. telstra T hub 2 is a big bad joke.oh my god how can people write reviews on them as only 12 of us bought in whole Australia we Are the unlucky ones to experience worlds worst tablet ever made.

Telstra t-hub 2 is wase of good money should not be on the maret crap product – I just cannot believe that telstra sell to there customers this piece of junk that does not even download simple you tube , it is not my fault but if you cancel the order you have to pay over 300 dollar, this is call day light robbery .Every one should get a refund back from Telstra. word to say about the T-Hub that i met so far.So come on Telstra start lesion to your customers, soon you would not have any for business.
The worse mistake i made so far.
Useless t-hub 2 – This piece of [censored word removed] should be recalled and all users refunded. it is so unreliable it makes a great beer coaster. it continually hangs then dials after a long pause. the missed call register dates everything back by at least 8 months. thought the t-hub 2 would be better than the first one but not so. my friends who bought it also… Read more
hate it. updates are non-existent. and certainly don't address the issue.
Not worth the price. hard to navigate and add names & numbers. try to call a number and it hangs causing a reboot of system
Extremely Poor Memory, Very unuseful – Excellent idea, loved it when I received the first one, which lasted 2 weeks before it decided it was not going to connect to the internet for more than a few seconds. I sent this back to Telstra several times, who insist that there is nothing wrong with it. Eventually I cancelled this one (Although Telstra still sent it back and I still have it)… Read more
and replaced with another one.
The second THub 2 connects perfectly, after 1 month of use, I have no memory and it has a mind of its own. The incoming calls are silent although my settings suggest otherwise. I miss many calls because of this.
Again, loved the idea, a great tool for the home, but has not been useful at all. Love the YouTube and Radio App 'Tunein' and it has great sound. Lovely and loud when using speaker phone. Not enough memory.... I have removed everything I possibly can except contacts. It doesn't ring for incoming calls. Is too sensative and has a mind of its own. Apps start and stop whenever it feels like it, alarm sets itself, the call log only works in EST times (I live in WA). Seems great when you first get it.... wait a couple of weeks until you have NO MEMORY
bad product. insufficient memory to make it useable – Do not buy this product. It does not have enough memory to load any more apps than what comes pre loaded. It only has 300 megabytes and even struggles to update the pre loaded apps. You canot remove unused preloaded apps. A complete waste of my money im glad i got it as part of a plan. nothing no memory
T hub 2 – I know there is many bad reviews here of the hub 2, but my experience has been flawless, all integrated without issue, phone works perfect set up the tablet and love the Internet radio tune in, better speaker than t 1, not a single issue. Maybe a few need to read the manual. Show 2 replies
OK but only just – The T-Hub 2 is in 2 parts & both have pros & cons. The handset is fairly poor as a basic cordless handset with lousy sound quality & feels "tinny" but a plus is the fact it transfers all your contacts from the Tablet (which if you have a Google/Gmail account will synch your entire contact list). I still do not understand why the handset base… Read more
station needs to be connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable to your modem/router - updating the time & an occasional software update seem the only reason so mine is disconnected most of the time.
The Tablet itself is again fairly poor in terms of being a basic 7" Android tablet with very limited memory. If you are after a basic tablet for Internet access while watching TV, etc then go buy a Google Nexus 7 or similar which is less expensive & infinitely better at this task. The T-Hub 2 Tablet is, by comparison, heavy & not very comfortable to hold. The screen quality is adequate but not great. An important point is that it is limited in the number of compatible applications but has such limited memory you won't be able to install many anyway.
I've also found the Tablet suffers from a lot of software freezes, resets & sometimes it will lock up totally or reboot itself for no reason, especially while using the default Internet browser. This is very frustrating so one app you probably should get is an alternative browser (I use Opera which works reliably). One other annoyance is that the call log on the Tablet uses the time on the Handset for the date/time of calls - this is bewildering when the Tablet keeps perfect time itself. As I mentioned above, Telstra wants you to keep the Handset base station connected to the Internet all the time & one reason is to keep the time up to date but I find it more convenient to just set the date/time on the handset menu so my Tablet call log is accurate. Unlike others here report, I had no issues at all setting mine up but it helps that I've been an Android phone user for several years since in reality it's just a big (non-)mobile phone.
It is its use as a phone on a standard landline that is the redeeming feature of the Tablet in the way it integrates with Telstra services. It's a cordless speaker phone, can send/receive sms (1c texts... very nice), will show/play/delete your voicemail messages - these are things your regular Android tablet cannot do. On its charger dock it will even play streamed radio or music with reasonable sound quality. You can also connect it to your TV via HDMI to watch videos (I've viewed many live sports events via YouTube like this).
I can't say I'd recommend this product at the price Telstra is charging but it does have some useful features that might have sufficient appeal to some to justify the cost. Integrates Telstra landline call features onto Tablet device. Very ordinary handsey quality & there are better value, more functional Android tablets.
Don't bother buying this product. It does not have any memory for more apps than what is preloaded… Read more
Another Bad Telstra Product, But Not As Bad As Their T-Box – My main issue with this product is the lack of internal storage: 352mb internal memory 1GB internal SD card my apps that can't be transfer to the internal SD card take up 216mb leaving only 41.18mb free, I keep getting errors when i try to do updates of these apps. Handset very poor sound quality, my cheap Uniden cordless phone way out… Read more

Talked to Telstra 2 weeks ago & still waiting. Finding it hard to be positive with this product Storage
THUB 2 – Originally had THUB 1 which we all know was disastrous and foolishly upgraded to THUB 2. Expensive mistake and has failed in all respects. Intended concept is good but can't handle even the basic of requirements. Had to "power off" on many occassions to reset. Mine is going in the bin and I have purchased a Uniden 6135BTU system. Nothing Can't sync contacts, can't take messages, fails to record missed calls.
Better than T Hub 1....just – T Hub 2 is certainly a improvement on version 1. The Hub itself is pretty good, it has a base station that acts as a dock, so internet radio has a great sound. Apps are OK, but slowish processor. The Hub would be 4/5 stars. You can SMS from the Hub too. The Handset is simply terrible. When the phone rings, if you answer the handset, the Hub… Read more
continues to ring very very loudly. The hand set echoes and has no backlit numeral pad, so is difficult to see in low light let alone the dark. The handset ruins what could be a reasonable product. As for price? Overpriced. The unit is $360. It should be $250 tops. To summerise, this is an expensive internet radio, but I use it daily......not as a phone though. Great sound from Dock, easy to use, Google Apps, youtube Hanset is the wors ever!!!!

my phone are not supported by the T-Hub 2 including Telstra's own MOG Music Streming Application. I contacted Telstra to arrange to return my device but they would not allow a return as I had unpacked and used the device but Telstra did agree to simply give me a $120.00 credit on my next bill then give me a $10.00 credit on every bill for the next 24 months so basiclly I giot my money back and still able to keep the unit. I doubt we will use the T-Hub 2. We will stick with our current Android devices and iPad/iPad's. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Nice clock Poor application support, Supplied apps poor, difficult to setup handset, Poor range of handset. No POP email support.
Rubbish handset - never works! – I have had Telstra on phone several times with fixing my handset when they talk me through fiddling with the phone line and resetting etc, it works! would be more convienient if they can fix this probelm as it is in a central location and handy to use as a phone. I need to clear the cache often and switch it off then on again so the tablet doesn't freeze up. And I'm paying monthly for this rubbish. What a wasteof money! Telstra - before you release a product, test it properly first! From the product description it sounds like a good and useful product Constant problems with handset and T Hub as a phone is very poor sound quality.
Not sure – Im not a huge fan. I find this a really tricky product to use and still trying to link with our account. We have issues with it connecting and installing. The apps are great and its handy for the kids to play with. Hoping to have connected with voicemail and email and then my opinion may be more postive Great size software issues and tricky to use
T-Hub 2, is it better than T-Hub 1? – I was unfortunate enough to buy a T-Hub 1 on a 2 year plan last month. After 3 weeks of trying to get it to work as per the instructions and countless calls to their "help" desk (that is a joke) they finally agreed to swap it for the new model, the T-Hub 2. Is it better overall, not really, whilst the tablet is far better with the Android… Read more
operating system it has so many irritating features that worked better on the first version. As for the handset, it is the cheapest and nastiest piece of junk you can imagine. I have had the new device for a week now and still cannot get all of my contacts set up on both the handset and the table. I am a reasonably tech savvy person so I really pity anyone who is not computer literate that buys one of these, they would never be able to get it to function properly. Build quality of the tablet, screen resolution and apps Handset: very poor build quality, buttons hard to use, screen resolution poor and too small, contact do not sync with tablet
I too found contact will not sync with tablet. After approx 10 hours of tech support from people who cannot speak English!! I too am over this.
