We’ve had our tempur mattress now for a month and I’d say it’s a bit meh. Nothing bad about it but given the steep price, even at discount for $8000 at Harvey Norman, with hindsight in mind, I wouldn’t expect too much of this mattress. I’d say it’s just a mattress. The first few nights are horrendous, you will hate it, and then you get used to… Read more
it, but I’d say don’t expect any magic after that, I wouldn’t still say our old IKEA memory foam mattress was way more comfortable and allows you to sleep better on any side. Because the tempur tends to mould the most where you’re the heaviest, stomach sleepers might find lower back pain as it arches your back downwards putting pressure on your lower back, so you’ll find that before you fall asleep, you’ll naturally try to fall asleep on your side or back, however if you like me turn around at night, you’ll wake up with lower back pain.
I’d say if you’re out there looking for a new mattress, don’t get too caught up in the parents and ‘tech’ of this mattress, thinking the price tag gives you the best, you’ll probably find yourself disappointed, so you’re better off looking at mattresses that are way cheaper. I must say that I do regret the purchase given how much money it is.
I purchased a TEMPUR mattress from David Jones in December 2023, expecting a premium product. Unfortunately, within less than a year of normal household use (with a mattress protector, in a ventilated room), the mattress developed serious mould issues on both the cover and foam. When I raised a warranty claim, TEMPUR’s international claims team… Read more
rejected it, alleging “exposure to liquids,” even though the mattress has never been soaked or exposed to any spills. A mattress protector was always used, and another mattress in similar conditions (different brand) has had no issues.
TEMPUR’s response has been extremely disappointing. Instead of standing by their so-called quality guarantee, they pushed responsibility back onto me, ignoring the fact that under Australian Consumer Law, products must be of acceptable quality, safe, and durable. A mattress that grows mould within a year clearly does not meet these standards.
The mattress was ok in the first year of use, however after that time it began to get softer and softer until it was no longer suitable to sleep on. We simply didn't have enough support to have a comfortable sleep. At this stage Harvey Norman and Tempur have refused any refund and claim the mattress is ok. Show details

Absolute waste of money & time trying to get support for the product – We purchased a supposedly high quality Tempur adjustable base & Tempur Liberty Support Queen Bed firm mattress from Bedshed Aspley in June 2016. For the first the first three years we could not have been happier but as the mattress aged we felt the spots we slept in were getting softer & had an indentation feel. At first we thought it was just our… Read more
perception but as time progressed it became more evident & noticeable to the point the mattress was not giving us adequate support. We approached the retailer & were advised that they would contact Tempur & expected we would get a replacement mattress as this was the normal situation with the manufacturer. After three weeks of calls & advice that they had handed it over to Tempur & could do no more we contacted Tempur directly only to be told they had no record of our warranty claim. A few calls & email communications transpired over the period of a week with sales receipts being provided etc & we waited another few weeks with no response before we again contacted Tempur only to be told the person we were dealing with no longer worked there. More phone calls & emails again providing the same information & asking us to obtain measurements of the across the bed of any deformities etc all was supplied as asked for. During this time we were asked to give serial number information on the mattress under the zip on cover & when doing this we found the mattress was in fact just over one year old when we received delivery of our "New Mattress". At this stage we believe we had been sold floor stock which was not what we had been told about or had agreed to purchase. Tempur also from our measurements noted (as we had) that when the base was in the flat position it was in fact slightly convex & not flat. I advised them this was hardly relevant as we never slept with the bed in a flat position & always had the head & leg area razed for medical reasons. They insisted on passing the claim on to Ergo motion the base department for assessment, more phone calls & more weeks passed with information pictures & emails & then again no communication for two weeks before we went back to the initial Tempur product support number. Finally they agreed to send someone out to do what we thought would be an evaluation of the mattress. The person did exactly what we had already been requested to do with measuring the permanent compression in the sleeping areas across the bed & did not check the resilience of the foam mattress in any way. Six days later we received an email advising that the mattress was in their expected tolerances & no further action would be taken at this time. From start to finish the process took three months, from the beginning of May 2022 to the 11th August 2022, during this time as the bed was not providing the adequate support we purchased a new bed & mattress that was delivered last week & are now sleeping well with appropriate support. We will never purchase a Tempur product again. In the process of trying to get a resolution on a mattress that when purchased stated a fifteen years warranty we have just been passed on from one area to another in an effort to discourage us & hope we went away. If you are considering a Tempur please evaluate the above. If I could give a zero star rating I would. Their actions & the lack of addressing the issue made a bad situation even worse by drawing it out for us. A bed that fails & does not give you adequate support is not worth having hence our purchase of an alternative option.
Mattress cover fabric – We have similar issues with our mattress or may be only with the fabric of the mattress cover. We purchased our mattress 4 years ago. I loved it from the first minute, but it took a while for my partner to get used to it. He felt like sinking. Now we both like the feel and find very comfortable to sleep on it, except that we need to smooth out the… Read more
fitted mattress protector and fitted sheet daily and adjust them back to place since they keep wrinkling while shifting to the left. We tried to rotate the mattress to see if this stops, but it didn’t, only the shifting changed direction; everything moved to the right. We are up to the point when we cannot put up with this adjusting any more. Recently we got a heated mattress protector, which also started to wrinkle and shift, which, for safety reasons, cannot be left wrinkled at any time. I learned that, this product is discontinued, and currently they are using different fabric for the zip-on cover. So please don't be put off buying Tempur mattresses because, otherwise, they are excellent to sleep on.
Amazing mattress, no idea how we’ve slept without one! – I wanted to wait some time, purchased in 2016, before actually writing a review. Many things are great the first year, especially something with a price like this; but it has been worth every cent. I have spinal issues and chronic pain, and this has helped so much and allowed me to actually lay in bed watching Tv and sleeping with no pressure or… Read more
sore points anywhere.
The mattress is firm, which my partner and I wanted and had been extremely consistent with this. The exception, is if the heat is not on in winter, and the room is extremely cold, it’s a bit firmer, but nothing that would distract from sleep or comfort.
He quality is excellent and didn’t have any of that “plastic” smell when it was delivered. We also purchased a base however the base didn’t fit up and around the stairs to our room, and sadly the retailer “lost” it before we could actually have it moved to storage. So that is on the shoulders of Domayne not in anyway Tempur.
I’d suggest to try a few different mattresses, from the firm Tempur to the softer “cloud” ones. Spend ample amount of time so the mattress can conform to your body to determine how it feels. And take it acccount that the mattress is flexible so should be easy to fit around corners and such, but the bases are not.
Great warranty of replacement if anything should have an issue. Which I’ve never heard of anyone having an issue with them. My parents have been using them for over 20 years and would never switch to another. Same with us.
Just extremely comfortable, very high quality made in Denmark, and zero issues in the last two years; and I expect this to be the case for the next 10 at least. Works great on floor or on a slatted base. Firmess can differ depending on the “stiffness” of slats you may have. So if you get it home and it’s too soft, even being a firm mattress, change the slats or try a solid base. It’s not the mattress that is the issue, it’s more of what’s supporting it.
I’d highly recommend Tempur mattresses; I’ve had several other brands like Sealy, King Koil and others and nothing comes close. Awesome bed!! However, their pillows do leave something to be desired, as ours are totally flat and cannot find the tax invoice so guess that’s a loss. But that’s another review!!

My wife and I bought an adjustable Tempur king-size split bed with 'firm' mattresses and some pillows about five years back, and we couldn't be happier with them. We'll be staying with Tempur from here on and will certainly never go back to spring mattresses! When I see comments about mattresses being too firm or too soft, I suspect those buyers… Read more · 1
might not have spent enough time finding the best fit for them or reviewing the unique characteristics of the mattress. On top of the fantastic quality, Tempur's after-sales service has been outstanding. A big thank you to Althea and Adrianne from their customer support team.
So comfortable – I’ve had my Tempur mattress for 9 years and I still love it. There is a permanent indent where we sleep but doesn’t affect our sleep, still extremely comfortable. Got mine on a half price special at Domayne for around $3200 (just for mattress)and bought the 4 drawer Tempur base too. Very happy with it. Show details · 1
Very comfortable – We bought these long singles on a zero gravity base, we thought after a couple of weeks that we had thrown our money away. After a month of being uncomfortable my husband read that you need to get all the air pockets out of the mattress too soften it. So we crawled all over them digging in our knees in hope to soften. It worked, that same… Read more · 3

Tempur mattresses are like buying a used car that has been done up by the dealer. They look and feel the goods in store, but when you get it home, you immediately notice priblems and get buyers remorse. They are too hard and too soft at the same time. They are so expensive. You can get much better mattresses for 3 times less. The only positive… Read more
thing I can say about it is low partner disturbance. My 5 year old mattress is about to be rehomed and I can't wait to see it go
Designed to be used in Space not on earth – Price out of this world because 'The only mattress and pillow recognised by NASA and certified by the Space Foundation'. Nowadays, the quality of all products is questionable, but what gets one company to stand out compared to the rest is the post-sale service. Tempur is not the one to deliver quality or after-sales service. , Stay away people

Tempur Carina Prima Contour Firm King Mattress – Tempur Carina Prima Contour Firm King Mattress, I paid big bucks for this mattress, for the first 4 years the matress was perfect, then on year 5 the mattress lost its firmness and integrity properties, the warranty its meant to be for 10 years but after two attempts the manufacturer refuses to cover the matress, first of all its impossible to… Read more
find a metal stick long enough and comply with their instructions to take the perfect warranty pictures, the entire experience was a total epic fail with this considering I paid nealry 10 grand between the bed frame and the mattress. Do not waste your hard earned money with this company, they are crooks. 10 Year unlimited warranty yeah right? The company rather not comply with a warranty, even bother sending someone to witness how bad the mattress lost its properties and rather deal with a bad review and degraded reputation as a result.

Overpriced under achieving – Our mattress is 6 years old and we have the adjustable bases to suit. The mattress sags down with weight where your bum goes and causes back pain. Tempur warranty is worthless and they wipe there hands of the problem. We think it is because of where mattress bends for zero gravity function. Very, very disappointed and feel ripped off with the price mattress. Show details
Loved my first Tempur, this one was awful - induced back pain – I purchased a Tempur Original 21 from Snooze Alexandria here in Sydney. I have bought Tempur beds before (once in Australia and once in the US when I lived there) and loved them for over a decade. In fact, they really helped with the back pain I had in my younger days. But then...after buying the Original 21 and sleeping on it for 6 months, I… Read more
ended up with back pain so bad that I had to see doctors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists...and take 3 weeks off of work. Then I stayed at my friend's place and by accident woke up feeling good for the first time in months! I've changed beds and my situation is so much better. I wish I could return this mattress or something, a lot of expense and a lot of pain. This mattress was supposed to be firm from what I understood, but it certainly did not feel this way when it arrived at my home.
Sinking Disappointment – Our second Tempur mattress. First one was great for many years. They have a great comfort feel. But this one has deteriorated after a few years. It sinks way too far causing back pain. Tempur refuse to do anything as the permanent sink is less than 2cm. This misses the point as it has a huge sink when you actually lie on it. They just ignored this complaint and repeat their 2cm policy. We will never buy Tempur again. Show details

I would NEVER recommend a Tempur mattress!! – We have had this extremely expensive mattress for 1 year. There are significant sags in the locations where we sleep. I understand that all mattresses do this over time, however its only been 1 year! They offer a 10 year warranty. But what they don't tell you, is that the mattress has to dip more than 2cm in order to make a claim. Clearly the… Read more
longer we use it, the deeper this will get. We have been using another mattress topper on top of it for the last 3 months. The bed has become quite uncomfortable and therefore we won't be using the mattress anymore and instead are forced to buy another mattress. So I guess I will never be able to make a claim. They are over priced and do not stack up to what they promise!
Love my Tempur mattress – I bought my Tempur mattress several months ago at half price as it was ex floor stock. I could not be happier. Every night when I get into bed feels like bliss.I’m sure I sleep better on this mattress. I also have the base that allows you to raise the head or the feet (came with the deal). I’d highly recommend. Show details
Not worth the gamble, uncomfortable, bad communication, no satisfaction guarantee! – No where near as comfortable as the store display, hasn’t worn in. It’s hot, even with a fancy wool underlay that’s meant to help regulate your temperature... doesn’t breath, even with expensive sheets we were recommended to buy. It’s caused stiffness and back issues. Nothing good to say about the mattress or the brand. We took a gamble and… Read more

Beware the warranty – The snooze salesman banged on about the "excellent" warranty but neither he or the warranty fact sheet he gave me stated that after 5 years you had to pay for part of the mattress if you have a warranty issue depending on how old it is and its based on the overpriced RRP not the price you paid for it. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING. Sleeping duck has a… Read more

Do Not Waste Your Hard Earned Money! – While I cannot fault the comfort of our mattress (although extremely hot to sleep on), our experience with Tempur has been less than satisfactory. Trying to reach a conclusion was the biggest, most time consuming and labour extensive exercise ever. With zero result. I would never recommend this company/brand/product to anyone who values the products they invest in as this one is not worth it.
Tempur Mattress Avoiding Warranty Claim – We purchased this mattress just on 4 years ago from Harvey Norman and chose the firm option. The Company itself, do not honour their warranty claims due to the mattress having to be at least a 2cm impression. This does not apparently include the fact that the support has gone from the mattress whereby no longer firm but soft. I would not… Read more
recommend this product or Tempur due to the fact they do not stand by their warranty or change it to suit themselves if a buyer ends up with a problem. A reputable Company would listen to customers and replace the product within their warranty. Hopeless 10 years warranty when the Tempur Company Dan foam do not honour it. Buyers should buy mattresses with a spring foundation underneath as if and when the Tempur foam fails (gets soft) thats all you have to support you! along with the recommended base. It seems instead of warranting their mattresses, they just discontinue, and bring out a new model!!
Has been great – Our Tempur mattress is 12 years old & now ready for replacing. There was no compression of the foam until about 8years in. I have always loved it, although as it is a high density foam it has been warm on those hot summer nights, something we were anticipating. I will absolutely be replacing it with a Tempur. Worth every penny – I'm so glad I went with my gut instinct and assumed that the majority of people who write on review sites are unhappy. weeks I wake up every morning feeling rested, I don't wake up when my partner rolls over in the night and have even stayed sleeping when he got out of bed. I have struggled with poor sleep quality for a number of years. Who knew that a mattress would solve that.
Very comfortable but terribly hot in summer – We bought our mattress in August last year and it was great until it got hot at night. We wanted to take it back after the first month and then realised that we did not have a waterproof mattress protector per the fine print in the bed shed contract. So we paid nearly $3000 for a dud. do this. Contacted Harvey Norman and Tempur for warranty replacement of mattress as it is only 3 years old .After a month of waiting they refused to honour my warranty because my mattress had a stain on it and this had apparently compromised the integrity of the mattress (I do have kids and a life and accidents do happen ).It is also a big king bed with problems on both sides and believe me when i say the stain did not cover the entire bed . Even though the the dipping had reached 2cm with photographic evidence taken by the tempur representitive they still refused my warranty. So then i tried to email both companies to say this was unfair but neither will even answer any emails now as they consider the case closed.
I am actually in the process of taking this to consumer affairs but i know they will NEVER honour the warranty because it it bogus.
PLEASE read the reviews for this company here and in America and you will see that i am doing what most of these people had to as well ...PUT MY $4000 MATTRESS OUT FOR RUBBISH COLLECTION because that it what it is.

it radiates heat and makes me overly warm and results in me waking up every night when it’s Summer. The mattress is otherwise great - still super comfy. My husband loves it but I can’t sleep on it - even with all cotton lightweight sheets and pjs etc. If you are a warm to hot sleeper I dont recommend Tempur.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: We bought the Tempur 21. Both my husband and I are very light (50kg and 70kg). The mattress in the showroom was so comfy we were hooked straight away. When the mattress arrived (boxed and in plastic wrap), I was expecting it to require a lot of airing out but was happy to discover there was NO SMELL at all! Unfortunately it was really firm and not like the store mattress at all. The first two nights I had a sore back and neck. We put the mattress on the floor and walked all over it many times over the next 4 days and that definitely softened it up so that it was perfect. We love this mattress and are super happy with our purchase! We don’t find it hot at all - in fact it’s a lot cooler than our previous pillow top. We do sleep with cotton blankets though (we always have).
