product issues identified in the reviews. Looks like they are selling defective products with these issues. Even their customer representative diagnosed the problem without me explaining the details. I will complain to the local authorities.

Would not recommend – We had this unit installed in June 2022, at a cost of $1900. It was to replace our previous hot water system (a different brand) which, incredibly has lasted 22 years. no hot water eventually. We contacted a plumber who found the valve to be leaking and commented that he had never seen a valve fail on a system this new. At a cost of $300, he installed a new one for us. Upon contacting Thermann, we tried to make arrangements for the valve to be reimbursed and despite an initial phone call and email from the 'Product Specialist' we have received no further correspondence regarding how to get this new part reimbursed. We do not even know if it will be covered by the warranty, which, not surprisingly, expired 1 month prior to the valve failing. We have had no communication since. Between the poor communication and early failure of the valve on an expensive system, right out of warranty, I do not feel I can give this product more than 1 star and certainly will not be purchasing from this company again.

Works well for my house hold – I had this unit installed January 2022 I didn't look around for certain brand just what my plumber supplied and to date the system has worked very well and has never run out of hot water. power which apart from a bit extra on the power bill is fine. I should also note that in February 2023 the thermostat seal failed causing a small leak and tripping the RCD, I didn't bother calling the warranty mob as for small amount (around $100) the plumber replaced it which was much easier for me at the time. Not sure why the seal failed but in the end its a rubber real and seals fail, it could also be that because the unit is always heating this may have "helped" I will find out next year on that one. But again all in all happy with the system.

Not built to last – This unit was installed when I bought my house 2 years ago. The date of manufacture is 2014 (8 years ago), but already it has rusted through at the bottom and is leaking. Replacing it with something better.

Failure after 2+ years – The unit was installed in early February, 2019 by Nightcliff Plumbing. It worked well until late May, 2021 when the heating failed. Our previous hot water heater lasted 15 years.  Show details

System failure before 5 years – I bought a thermann hot water system on 11/03/2016 which means it is less than 5 years old and it failed this morning. It is a disappointment for a well branded name like yours to fail within that period time. My old system lasted 14 years. I was not expecting that long but at least to last for the first 5 years which it has not. Very disappointed. Was working fine now not producing enough hot water for 4 people – Installed by a licenced plumber and it replaced a 17 yr old Saxon. Less than 5 years on and with regular servicing it's now not producing enough hot water for 2 adults and 2 kids. Have tried to contact them to no avail. I am a plumber and these are my preferred heaters – I replace 5 hot water systems a week on average and I can attest to these heaters being on par with all the big names, if not better. problems related to new hot water systems are installer mistakes, but they won’t tell you that.

By the way. These heaters are made in the same AUSTRALIAN factory as at least 3 other brands. They’re made to a higher specification since Reece have stringent quality control systems in place.

searching high and low for an actual phone number as this company are trying very hard to ensure no one can easily reach them by phone) are saying there is nothing they can do as they go by the original warranty in 2014! If the system was replaced with a brand new one, why wouldn't they go by the date of the new system which is 2017??!?!?!? So in 6 years, Thermann have given me two dodgy systems and are refusing to take any ownership or accountability. So now I have to be out of pocket and ask the installing company to come out and they will charge a call out fee and if they find it is the hot water system that is dodgy (which it is as I have told this recently by the last tradesman who was last here), then I have to pay for a whole new system, when it is the manufacturing company that are in the wrong!!!! I have been telling as many people as possible not to use this company under any circumstance as they are not ethical. I will be taking this matter further as well to relevant authority bodies.

newest model WAS "great". It's not. 1) our old hot water service was only 200 litres. All three of us could have showers, I could do at least two loads of laundry and we'd have enough hot water. With this pump, after two people have showers, the water is tepid. Third person has a cold shower. No hot water for washing... and this is a 300 litre pump! 2) this morning no hot water. I go out to look at the heat pump and the spanner symbol is flashing indicating a service fault. After only 4 or so months? Living in a small country town, getting a plumber takes time. And today is a Sunday, so it's not going to be fixed today. $3000 for this? I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone! If I could give it zero stars I would!

Awful - failed under 3.5 years – Lasted 3.5 years before failure! Called Thermann to get told no warranty on any electrical components after 1 year. If you're happy to spend $1000 on a new hot water system every three years this system is the one for you! Show details

was using less water. Told that it might be due to an element. Called up again, however this time the staff member said this issue is only covered if the unit was installed within a year. Staff member would not put me through to the manager. I told her over and over again that due to conflicting information I wished to speak to the manager. In the end I hung up, but before doing so said that I would be telling other people not to purchase this product and that the assistance was terrible.

Hopeless at every level.

After 2mths failed – Installed a 160l after other one failed to produce much over luke warm. Well over the 6 yrs I've been here so old one was worth it. Failed when just out of warranty – Installed in mid 2015 - 315 litre electric. Worked ok initially. But conveniently failed when just out of warranty. Customer service when a problem arises is poor. I would find another brand.

It does what its supposed to- make water hot – Recently installed a 160L Thermann electric hot water cylinder. Considering some of the Dux reviews ( and I believe Thermann is manufactured by Dux for Reece) I was a little hesitant. to be well constructed and came with all the usual components and documentation. Cant say its better or worse than other brands at this time.

Only time will tell how well it lasts but if I get 7+ years out of the actual cylinder I will be happy. I will update this review in the future.

Poor warranty for the money – We had a 315 Thermann electric storage HWS installed in Dec '14. Fairly woeful considering that it is now malfunctioning at 18 months old and out of warranty. An expensive $1700 lesson!!!

Look very carefully at warranty when buying your HWS.
