We purchased a new reclaim energy Co2 Heat pump to replace a gas instantaneous system in Feb of 2026 and found that it performs better than we expected and the unit is very quiet We had this unit with an "Earthworker" stainless steel tank which is manufactured here in Victoria which enabled us to qualify for the local content Rebate from Vic… Read more
Gov. We did have a problem with the controller from the initial startup, although we had hot water it was doing some strange things. We contacted Reclaim energy and they sorted the issue out and sent a serviceman out the same day as we contacted them, He replaced the controller and we haven't looked back
We purchased a Reclaim Heat Pump V2 for our new build after reading all the good reviews. It’s super quiet and efficient. Can’t thank Richard from Reclaim Energy enough for coming out and fixing an issue with the hot water system at the last minute. Your willingness to go above and beyond did not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated. Show details
Glad to switch to this Reclaim system. Had this installed a month ago by Atomic Hot Water in Sydney. We are a family of 3 and purchased the 315 litre stainless steel tank V2 heat pump. We have it programmed From 10.00am to 4pm as we have solar panels. Works like a dream with plenty of hot water. We expect significant savings as we now have switched off the gas as this was the last item connected to gas. Show details

A very professional removal of old electric hot water system and installation of new heat pump hot water system. Arrived on time and cleaned up after. Show details
In May 2025 I purchased a Reclaim REHP-CO2-315SST-V2 (315L). It was installed by O'Brien Electrical & Plumbing Rowville Victoria. It replaced a Gas AquaMAX 390L which was 15 years old and working very well but costs out of control. The Reclaim unit has been operating for 4 months now and is far more efficient and the app is simple to use and… Read more
allows for proper management of functions and costs as you would expect. Reclaim is one of the more expensive solutions but very reliable and definitely value for money given I expect it to last as long as the gas unit it replaced. O'Brien Electrical's installation of the unit looks great as you can see in photo.
Super quiet. Wi-fi connection is easy to use and very helpful. Can already see the difference in energy usage on our solar panel/electricity monitoring app thingy. New heat pump was installed including new electrical connections all by mid-morning. We had hot water that night. Couldn't be happier with JR Gas and Water and their friendly, professional service. Highly recommend Reclaim for efficiency and customer support – I highly recommend this system. Extremely efficient and when we had a problem due to our plumber their support was on the phone and helped us figure it out within an hour. Show details

The best thing I have bought when it comes to a hot water service. This replaced a solarhart solar system. Which just did not cut it on cloudy days when my electric solar system was producing 3kw hours of power in winter. Since the Reclaim has been… Read more
installed Apr2025 I have not used any grid power to heat the 315lt tank vs the Solarhart which was boosting at night and using 3-5 kw/h of power. Great system and highly recommended.
Follow-up · Well six months has passed and I am amazed how well it works. I do have 13kw of solar on my roof. The Hot water temperature at the shower head is consistent as well as the tank temperature. We have 5 people in the house and so far have not had to boost the tank at night. and hot water pump installs. The cost is also because we did not get any Vic solar rebates, as we have a dual income household. My God this is a quality system - and so it should be, by far the most expensive on the market, but this is one of the few products it seems you get what you pay for. Check out some of the reviews for example (years down the line) for other alternatives, such as Sanden...compared to Reclaim.. Whisper quiet outside. Installed only at 250L size but this is more than enough for a 3 bedroom townhouse, copes well with simultaneous hot water usage. Perhaps if you have 4 people showering, get the 315L or above size tank instead. I like the idea of the compressor being separate from the pump, rather than an ''all-in-one'' system, should there be problems later. Also, one of the few systems out there (version 2), of a good app that connects to Wifi well (e.g. compare this to the Emerald all-in-one pump - terrible Wi fi app). NOTE - even with this high quality hot water pump, you will find in peak ice cold Melbourne winter, takes longer for tap water to turn really hot compared to pure gas, and you will be turning taps a bit more 'far left', to get maximal hot compared to potent gas; but still very good hot water max with Reclaim Hot water pump. This may also relate to this plumber rule that all hot water systems now have to have a ''temperature reduction valve'' installed, setting max output heat at 50 degrees to prevent scalding; but we don't have any elderly or young kids in our house. Our previous pure gas Dux Prodigy IV system didn't have a TRV at all when installed back in 2014. Hot water pumps don't really need this TRV it seems as never as scalding hot as pure gas. So tip - after installation, experimemt with turning the temp reduction valve secretly a few more multiple turns to the 'right' to set the potential output above 50 degrees, if you are finding with some taps peak hot could go hotter. Note pump tower made in Australia; compressor made in Japan; longest warranty on market, even if pro rata. Yet to see what effect this hot water pump will have on gas bill (who knows if electricity/water bill will be higher?), but we are pleased at any rate in using less fossil fuel for the planet. We are not connected to solar. Make sure you also use a great installer company like we did, that specialises in installing Reclaim Pumps. It seems many plumbers haven't even heard of the Reclaim system, and only draw on bad experiences of cheaper all in one pumps, so how can they install it really well. Both electrician and plumber required on the day to disconnect and re-wire a previous pure gas system, hence expect installation costs compared to a simple gas replacement to be higher and take longer..
Follow-up · You can actually adjust the temp reduction valve yourself after plumber leaves. Just turn full 360 degree turns to the right towards the “+” orientation then recheck the taps. Adjust accordingly until you get the required level of hot

I am very impressed – We purchased the Reclaim Energy Hot Water Service with a 250 litre tank from Ureco approximately 9 months ago. I am very impressed by the system. I have patents in refrigeration and temperature control, so I have a good idea of what I am looking at. The COP of 5 for the Reclaim's CO2 refrigerant based systems is just amazing, one of the best… Read more
COP's I've seen. The system is very quiet, and we have it programmed to heat between 10AM and 4PM daily - while the sun is up, and while our PV solar panels are generating at their maximum. So, basically all the hot water is free - besides the cost of the system. I've watched the system and it generally finishes it's heating cycle by 11:30AM. We have not run out of hot water yet, although I gave the system a "Boost" a couple of times during the middle of winter, just before bedtime.
The Reclaim compressor is remarkably quiet, I haven't measured it, but you are basically unaware of it running unless you stop and listen for it.
Our WA gas bill has dropped by $60 per billing period and the most expensive part of the bill is the "connection" fee. So, we'll be going to a fully electric house soon.
Dealling with Ureco was easy, and their installer was very competent. It's a very tidy install, and I have experience in that area too. So, all up it's an impressive system and I look forward to having it running for a long time.
BEWARE tank location and outside air temperature !!!! – Beware if you plan on locating the heated water storage tank LOWER than the heat pump unit( Install Manual x2.0 "heat pump can be under or above the level of tank"). I located the 315 litre storage tank in a basement with the heat pump located at ground level and set the heating cycle to day time to maximise heating efficiency using maximum air… Read more
temperature with minimum power ( NOTE: Reclaim Energy claim of "80% less energy when compared to traditional energy" is based on an ambient air temperature of 32 Deg C ). My problem was that the temperature of the stored hot water evaporated by thermal syphoning ( reverse circulation) of the hot water back through the heat pump , cooling with the cold night air and giving cold showers in the morning. Reclaim Energy's Australian design engineer advised a heat trap should have been installed, this made no observable difference when fitted. After further communication he advised what I described was" not new" and " I do not see a problem to solve ..." and " it is representative of thermocline region" and refused to specify a one way valve as it would compromise the system, advising he was unable to help any more, referring me to sales. Sales arranged for a non-return valve to be fitted to the system which solved the problem (AMAZING) but this is in contradiction to Install Manual x2.0 stating "any restrictive valves....will void warranty". It only took 2 months to achieve a solution. My take: if you are not concerned about achieving maximum running efficiency from this unit and minimising power usage costs, leave the time control setting at Option 1 -- "on demand" heating for when the water temperature drops to reheat. It's a great product when used smartly, so read the small print and consider how its going to work in your situation.
With so many Heat Pumps on the market: Which do you choose? – We *had* an Edwards rooftop solar unit that eventually stopped working (18+ yo) and the process started of either replacing it or going Heat Pump. The bloke I called to look at the rooftop solar indicated that a Heat Pump was a better way to go as they're on the ground and can be super efficient. I would have considered replacing the Edwards with… Read more
Edwards but they had been bought out and I wasn't interested in handing over money to the company that bought them.
Heat Pumps.... LOTS of them... LOTS of reviews.... LOTS of opinions... Which do you choose? I'll make the statement here and now that I received NO benefit for doing this review.
For us, I read all levels of reviews with focus on the bad ones as many people will write a bad review before they write a good one. This points out where the failings may be and if they are corrected and addressed by the companies involved.
In the end, it came down to two to choose from.... now to source them and get prepared for the disgusting freight costs of moving things around this country since everything seems to be based in Melbourne nowadays.
A chat with the bloke who looked at the rooftop unit and he said he keeps some in stock ready to go and I was stunned that out of the two I had selected to enquire about was one that he stocked ready to go.
So, down to the things that matter: The good: * It's a split system and not an all-in-one with the power unit being crammed on top of the HWS. Some may like the all-in-one thing but I see it as a negative in being more difficult to service and needing specialised parts should anything go wrong in future. * It is SUPER QUIET. You have to walk over to the unit to see if the fan is on because it is not apparent if you happen to be even 3 metres away. * It is easy to select an operation plan for the unit through the panel should you decide to have it able to run all the time; some of the time; or daytime hours to suit drawing power from solar panels. * Hot water comes through in less than a quarter of the time over having the unit on the roof. A major consideration when on tank water. * The unit itself has a sticker on it indicating when to replace the anode in order to extend life. A great idea that is far better than having it break down a year after the anode goes only to be told that it should have been replaced a year earlier. * First run of the unit in turning on, water was at a usable temperature within an hour - and it just kept getting better after that. * This last bit is in relation to the installer: The plumbing work he did is like a work of art. No garbage or rough bends with everything covered with insulation material. He left the site spotless and ensured that all legislative requirements were adhered to.
The Bad: * Seriously, the unit and the installation cannot be faulted from my perspective - and I have spend a LOT of times over the years having to fix the mistakes of lazy tradies for many people. * If there is anything that I have to look for to criticise: It would be the website of Reclaim Energy. There is a lot of information missing from it that could answer questions for people. Some will just look to another supplier that does provide the information required. Thankfully I made the effort to ask and the information was returned within 24 hours from a very friendly support person.
Considerations: * More expensive than other units. I could have bought any number of similar sized units for $1,000 - $1,500 - even $2,000 less without any problem at all (freight to Queensland would have taken most of that though). I chose this unit because of the stellar reviews. * Government rebates are going down all the time and it isn't as much rebate for a Heat Pump as a rooftop solar. I say that the power saving for not needing to use the booster on cloudy days will balance it out. * Reclaim do tanks that are stainless steel or glass-lined tanks. Glass-lined is the cheaper option and examination of the longer warranty for stainless really doesn't give that much benefit.
I hope the info helps someone else in the future :)

I cannot speak more highly about the Recalim heat pump system. A super efficient system that is so quiet - low speed fan and pump, so designed to last; I also like the fact that the storge tank is seperate from the heat pump. URECO SOLAR HOT WATER did the installation here in Perth. Again I'm very pleased with their work. Very professional and helpful.
Although not the cheapest heat pump system, if the system reliability and service life is anything like its great design, I trust I'm up for many years of free trouble free hot water. Now to get rid of the gas cooktop!

Reclaim your money through saying on gas bills – The Reclaim Energy Heat Pump is a great appliance. It replaced my gas hot water system and is a terrific saving on my gas bill. I always have enough hot water for showers and laundry. The system compressor runs off my roof top solar during the day. The customer service is responsive and helpful. Thank you. (This is a genuine review from an actual customer in Geelong, Victoria. I have not been offered incentives to post the review.)
Cheap to run – Great hot water system very quiet operation that heats the water in 2 hours and uses just 4 kWh of power. We have it programmed to start when the solar panels are in full sun and they easily provide the power to run the unit. One improvement I would suggest is to allow the operator to choose the start time rather than one general program from 10am… Read more
to 4 pm. This would allow people like us to program the start time for when the sun hits our solar panels, In winter the sun hits our panels from 12pm to 2.30pm but the units program starts it at 10am so it draws power from the grid where it would power the unit if it started later.

Satisfied Reclaim Heat Pump User – Installed a 315l Reclaim unit 9 months ago. It just sits outside and does its thing. Its very quiet, drawing power for about 90min each day (fed covered by solar) and keeps the water between 40 and 60 deg. Bad product and bad warranty – Edit 03JAN2025: Eventually after well over 4 weeks I was given a replacement compressor and this time the unit is quiet and produces very hot and consistent water. compressor also let's out a loud bang as it kicks out. It's been over a week and there has not been a Reclaim technician come to the property yet to investigate. They insted wanted the plumber who installed it to troubleshoot the compressor. This is outside of the scope of work for the plumber. My opinion so far is to avoid this brand as it is unreliable and the warranty process is bad.

This hot water system is awesome – Got this installed just over a year ago. I needed a tank that could be installed inside but the reverse cycle unit outside, so this ticked the boxes. Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump Hot Water System – Excellent choice when coupled with a solar roof top array. Minimal grid import costs estimated over the last nine months at about 350 to 500 watts per day. our old gas storage hot water system failed as we are saving over $300 per gas billing period. I estimate the new system will pay for itself in around four years.
Hotwater you cant do without it – The system is working as intended. Brilliant. It's a little noisy but its outside and comparable to an air conditioner unit. It heats water at a fraction the cost of a standard electric unit. Couple this with a PV system on your roof and you're not paying anything at all for hot water if your set the timer correctly. Expense (6k) is the only downside, but it does eventually pay for itself. Show details

reason I haven't given it 5 stars is due to an issue with our temperature sensor where it wasn't being held tight in the tank meaning there was some unnecessary heating cycles - that was easily resolved though with some tape to bulk up the cable, but it should have been done during the installation.
