Thermann Small Electric Storage 50L

Don't buy one – Died after 2 years. Cost about $300 to repair as while the unit had some sort of warranty, Thermann warranties are about as useful as toilet paper as apparently they don't cover the actual heating element. I've had no other electrical issues at my house before or after. The Thermann unit was purchased to replace a 16 year old unit that had rusted and leaked. When it dies again I'll replace with another brand and never touch this brand. Show details
Died just after 7 years – Tank rusted just after the 7 year warranty and stopped working. I definitely expect better life out of a hot water system.

Shoddy! Ripoff! – New Thermann installed by a Thermann authorised tradie in Melbourne inner suburb in September 2019. Stuffed already! Today I found out that the warranty covers a water leak only. Cost of replacing parts - Thermostat & Element replacement and call out = $1681.80. !!!!! This is a small unit for a small apartment! Can’t believe the new parts on the new Thermann (all installed together) were only good for 34 months. What a joke! Show details

Quality is rubbish, unit failed within 2 years – Bought and installed in June 2019, and it died last week. The plumber who put it in suggested the heating element may have failed and asked me to contact Thermann for warranty. Rang the 1300 number and was told no warranty on any electrical components after 1 year, which was absolutely rubbish. Questioned the poor quality of the unit only last less than 2 years, even the operator sounded awkward and didn't deny it. Show details

Will never buy Thermann again – My plumber installed my first Thermann unit four years ago, when the 14 year old system I had died. After just two years, the cylinder burst. My plumber followed it up with Thermann to discover there was a known manufacturing fault with the batch, but they did not bother with a recall. The unit was replaced under warranty but now, two years later,… Read more
it isn't producing hot water. Unfortunately it's no longer under warranty, as the warranty only applies to the original, faulty-batch unit. It's completely unacceptable that two units in four years have both had faults, and now I have to bear the cost of labour and parts. Had my plumber asked, I'd have chosen Rheem. I'll never buy this brand again. Their quality is poor and buying one of their units is a money pit.
