Delivered more than I expected
Any insurance is a bit of a gamble, and you only ever really know how good any company is until you have to claim. TID came through and more for me. Had 2 issues from a car hire (tyre repair and low speed collision damage). Not excessively large claims. but both paid out in full and within a couple of weeks of claiming. Great service, and would definitely use TID again based on my experience

Don't bother to lodge a claim unless your in hospital
Have been a TID client since 2009 and always trusted on good online ratings.
Now, I tried to claim some medical costs incurred when I had an allergic reaction and had to go see a doctor in New York. The treatment cost about USD 200 (AUD 284), which I claimed. The claim process is tedious and time consuming. The website did not recognise pdf documents and refused to upload them. The system also asks for documents that are not relevant and if you do not upload them you have to explain why you do not upload a document. Overall very time consumin...g. Ultimately TID agreed to pay AUD 84 (after excess which is okay). However, before they pay out the AUD 84, TID wants me to pay another USD 100 (AUD 140) to the doctors surgery for an arguably outstanding amount. This additional USD 100 were not agreed with or communicated by the surgery on the day of the treatment. I pointed this out to TID and asked to either include the additional USD in the claim or juyst pay out the AUD 84. Haven't heard back.

Everything is all good until you put a claim through!!! BEWARE!!!
I have paid for TID travel insurance numerous times and unfortunately I had to make a claim for my last holiday. I was so disappointed. They look for all sorts of small excuses to reject your claim and it feels like I have been giving them my money from previous trips for potentially no reason. I feel they almost operate like a scam whereby they make it so easy for you to pay and buy and insurance and then when comes the time you try to make a claim they run away in the wood. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Now I know why they are competitive because they will never pay your claim!!!
It seems like other people have experience the same treatment.
Note to yourself: I took the annual trip cover so it is not like I paid for a cheap policy.

Twelve months cover good if you don’t want to be away more tha 39 days at a time.
The policy is easy to set up. We have a twelve months cover but found that we could only be away for 39 days at one time so had to buy a further policy for the extra 2 weeks that we were away. The staff were very helpful when we spoke to them about this issue and they gave us a price reduction on the the 12 month policy. i just want people to be mindful of the 39 day time limit,but we were very satisfied with TID and will certainly use them again.
