reposting this through my business name as my original review under Maxwell Phillips appears to have been buried. Since speaking out, I’ve been contacted by others with similar experiences.

May 2025 – Refund offered, not honoured The owner Matt Randolph personally offered me a refund in writing. I accepted, sent my bank details, and followed up professionally and clearly. Nothing was paid. They were given every chance to resolve this privately and chose not to respond.

May 2025 – Refund tied to review removal After my first review, the business contacted me offering a refund—but only if I deleted the review. This is not acceptable under Australian Consumer Law, as outlined by the ACCC.

I still sent my bank details in good faith. No refund was made. When I followed up, the owner claimed he wasn’t aware I’d asked for one, despite the full conversation taking place through his personal email and phone number.

Original experience I paid for a custom houseboat design. What I received was almost identical to the free consultation draft, which was created using basic drag-and-drop software. Despite assurances that more detailed design work would follow, nothing else was delivered. It felt like the actual design process never began. After raising my concerns, communication ended entirely.

I’ve since lodged formal complaints with Fair Trading QLD and QCAT.

Ask to see finished builds, speak to past clients directly, and do your research outside of Google. Tiny home forums and Facebook groups have reviews you won’t see here, and they tell a broader story.
