DAB radio has started glitching on commercial digital radio stations – Approximately a month ago the digital audio radio stations started glitching or getting bad signal to the point where I can't use the DAB radio function on the car. Has anyone else experienced these issues as both of my camry's are experiencing the same problem? This problem fixed itself on both my cars and is no longer a problem. Show details
Totally reliable – While still working my last cars were all fancy Europeans - Saab, BMW & Audi. But I had serious problems with all of them, including breakdowns requiring towing, not to mention the high servicing costs. So on retiring I bought a 2013 (last year made in Australia?) Camry, as I had heard they were reliable. After 9 years the Camry still drives like… Read more
new – not one problem, not even a squeak or rattle, and just an annual service. For its price range I would score it good/excellent at everything. It’s unlikely I will ever need another car, but based on my experience if I do it would only ever be a Toyota, & probably a Camry.
This is without a doubt the best car that I have owned – Being retired I use the car for local and city driving, as well as long distance for holidays. I use the car , on average 5 times per week. I get the car serviced on a regular basis as per the log book. Show details
Stylish, economical and great to drive – I use my car for everyday driving like school, shopping and going to work. It's very reliable and great to drive short and long distances. The seats are comfortable and I love the extras including the electric blind on the back window which helps keep the sun off my daughter's car seat. It's the best car I've owned and will be keeping it for as long as possible. Show details
Reliability with that O what a feeling! – 2013 atara sl. Great car very reliable with lots of power. Fuel economy on long trips excellent & in town average to a little high. Cheap to keep on the road. Comfy when on trips l drive it all day and get up and drive it all day again and for someone with arthritis & back issues that says a lot for a cars comfort. Sure a Merc would be nicer but l… Read more
paid less than 15k for my Camry with less than 40,000km on the clock. I test drove lots of petrol sedans & SUV's including (Mazda which came a close second) but when l discovered that the 2013- 2014 Camry atara sl was the best car and best value for money l kept looking until l found the one l wanted. $200 per year service cost (15,000km) with my mechanic who trained under Toyota dealership and now runs his own business. He loves my Camry as much as l do. O' don't worry about updating the gps use your phone & google maps. If l had a negative with this car its that when you fold down the back seats the opening through to the boot is to small due to the design.
It's very nice car with 100% no problem – Very nice and comfortable car, no problems at all. I have atara sl 2017 very economic Safe on roads , only the Toyota application is old otherwise everything is working perfectly. Thanks Show details
Excellent sporty family car! – I have had my Camry for almost three years and I LOVE it! It is reliable car which has got a very powerful engine and the options on the Atara SL model are great and can please everyone. I can't really fault the car however when I took the car for service they told me that updating the GPS costs about $300 every time which I think is absurd! Therefore I had to buy a Garmin for $200 with free lifetime updates. Show details
Very Economical – Toyota Camry Atara SL Hybrid Very Economical at 6.5L/100km in the real world (better than a corolla) Very quiet! Comfortable no nonsense interior. Great to have advanced features such as autonomous emergency braking and radar guided cruise control available in a Camry. Show cased Australian know how in this Australian built car. Radar cruise really makes highway driving more relaxing and comfortable. Show details

Over rated – Having borrowed this car for a week, Pros: Economical, roomy, good acceleration, decent sound system Cons: Road noise, cheap and bland interior, dash gauge functions, Infotainment a nightmare to operate. Not the easiest or most comfortable car to get in to. In general, driving performance is quite good with reasonable handling and plenty… Read more
of power under your foot.
The interior is what lets it down in my opinion. Typical Toyota styling has not changed over the years, so expect cheap plastic everywhere. Sat Nav was a right pain to operate and follow which makes sense considering the rest of the media system not user friendly. Seating was ok but not the most ride friendly either.
Drivetrain wise excellent, interior poor (including dash gauges)........overall I prefer my Honda Accord (nice interior, better handling, comfy ride)
The boring car you just can't live without – Ok lets face it, you aren't looking at a Toyota Camry because it is the most exciting thing you've done since your trip to Disney Land, but you did buy it because you don't want to be stranded on the side of the road or pay through your nose in maintenance fees and this is what Toyotas are very very good at. It drives well, not great… Read more
acceleration, not splendid fuel efficiency, in fact the interior design looks kinda boring but it is a great machine. If you are looking for something that just goes and goes and you don't mind looking like the 50 other cars on the road then this is the car for you!
Better than i thought – Reluctantly purchased this car after our mazda let us down. Only took it because it had *similar* features to our mazda. Looks nice, drives well, very quiet interior in comparison to our mazda. Has the optional sunroof, 18" wheels, and upgraded suspension. Loads of room in the cabin, and boot. Features that work well- mostly. - The radar cruise… Read more
control is not in the same league as the mazdas, but does its job - just keep the radar clean, or it gets a bit iffy.
- Blind spot works well, probably as good as the caprice we had.
- The auto dimming mirror works great
-The electric rear blind provides excellent protection for those jerks in 4wds, or idiotic people who modify their lights to xennon and aim them too high.
-Electric seats are very quiet and comfy
- We refer to the center console as our in car fridge. It's huge - fits 1.25ltr bottles in it, my 9.7" samsung tablet, & pretty much any snack you want. It keeps it nice and cool, as long as the ac is on.
-The GPS and multi-info touch screen is almost perfect, once updated.
Not so good features -
- The autonomous braking, worked well when we first tested it, and worked everytime. Next time we tested it, it failed everytime.
- The automatic wipers are horrendous and couldn't pick a speed appropriate to the current conditons if it were to save its own life!
- The highbeams wth. Is the car fitted with them, seriously? Toyota get your act together.
- Fuel consumption....you've heard of a thirsty camel, yeah? Well that's nothing compared to how thirsty this thing is. If i drive like a grandma with sore massive bunions, i average around 10-11ltrs. But if you even drive *slightly* enthusiasticly, expect to see those figures in the low 14 to mid 15s. Did someone forget to tell this car it's a 4clyinder...for real. On the highway it is good, around 6.5, which is acceptable for a large petrol car.
- Power, or lack thereof. Now while this car is pushing out fuel figures higher than the ssv redline we had, it's power is more on-par with that of a corolla. To the sad man that wrote a review about it's "powerful & muscular sounding engine" i challenge you to show me where the power is. As for the sound...have you heard smokers cough? Picture that screaming from the engine at anything over 4500rpm.
- Flappy paddles - what the actual .... what is this for? Really....useless, just useless. That is all.
- Lack of all automatic windows on a what is a $45,000 car? Just don't go there.
- Dual zone isn't very Dual. Although the ac does work well
- Auto dipping reverse mirrors, 2 complaints here. 1.They don't dip far enough. 2. They don't dip at all if the button to adjust them is in the middle. Yep, so you have to have it in the left or right position to get them to dip. Which is annoying, you have to move it back after you reverse. And no, it doesn't select a particular mirror to dip, dependant on the switch being in the left or right position. It dips both no matter what...unless you know, it's in the center.
- The brakes. Lordy lord. Put your foot down and here the abs crunching away. The wheels try to lock, it begins to slide like a vilan has shot an oil slick directly onto your tyres...and its all down hill from here. Would it have been out of the question to have them brake even half as graceful or eloquently as its mazda 6 rival... ?
- While we are on the topic of brakes wth is with the park brake. Did i miss something? Is this the 80s? I relive nightmares of my childhood and the brakes failing on our old ford, and needing to use the foot handbrake to stop on the highway - everytime i see it.
- Cruise control on a stick....again, so 80s.
- Don't even get me started on the fuel gauge...range says 38kms, with 1/4 of a tank left...yet getting 450kms to the other 3/4 of a tank. But wait....when range is 0, and the gauage goes from 1/4 to the E line after about 40kms...you fill it up, and would you look at that, theres 15-18ltrs of fuel left, good for almost 300kms on the highway...or a short dash to the shops with a full jerry can in the boot, if your around town.
- Also, where's my heated seat.

No more a Grey Cardigan Car – This is my retirement car after seriously going through an exhaustive list, The Camry Atara SL ticks all the boxes for a medium family sized car. Great value, fantastic safety features, cool gadgets and instrumentation, renowned reliability and trusted brand world wide. Gone are the bland white goods look. Toyota has followed a proven formula… Read more
of trickle down styling from their premium Lexus range, in this instance the ES 250. The Atara SL drives like a dream without the $$$ expected from its Lexus cousin. Noise, Performance and Handling is superb and very driver friendly.
Fully spec with GPS, with full leather and electric front seats. Every safety features at hand, from Lane departure warning, real-time adaptive radar cruise control, collision warning and braking at low and high speed, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors all round including cross traffic reverse warning.
The only things that are missing are heated front seats, adaptive cornering headlights, head up display, autonomous reverse parking and stop-start fuel saving. Hey at least there is something for the next model to aspire to.
Reliability and running costs are non issue as Camry has been around for more than 30 years. With the capped price servicing @$140 for the first 5 services or 4 years or 75K kms whichever occurs first, you cannot go wrong.
It is a no more a Grey Cardigan Car, but an honest good value vehicle without the pretensions of grandeur.
You know what you are getting and it does not fail to exceed your expectations.
Mine was a demo with low kms and $10K off the listed price. What is there not to like?
Get's the job done – Very/Extremely smooth (Hybrid Model) Lots of power on tap from down low - thanks to electric motor. Excellent on fuel. Reliable. Comfortable. Just a tad little boring on the interior compared to other brands. But for the price they charge you can't complain. Comes with capped price service for 3 years so makes maintaining this car VERY affordable. Show details · 2
Coukd have been 5 stars if not for – This is my second Camry Atara (had 2013 R and now have 2015 Atara Sl new shape) and overall im happy with both cars. The SL is much smoother ride and i feel is great value for money(got toyota company car 1 yr old both times from dealer ) compared to other similar spec level cars i researched. Its my first keyless car with push button start… Read more
and i love it. No more fumbling for keys with hands full shopping . Fuel economy is great for city and country driving considering its a large car. Toyota could have revamped the dash on newer model but i dont mind the layout as its functional. Ok so reason for missing out on 5 star is the GPS. Its probably because im comparing it to my voice activated garmin so mighr not be fair but surely a toyota could have got something better especially for a top of the line model. I cant see how this system is worth 2k if you wanted it as an extra ? The digital radio and Bluetooth fumctions as well as others apps are great just GPS is the let down for me anyway . Im dreading upgrade tome for maps as ive heard its expensive. Overall i love the safety features , ample power for a 2.5 and comfort and room of this car.
very nice – The car is a 2012 Toyota Camry Atara SL and it looks cool and is nice to sit in, there are huge rear blind spots which make changing lanes risky. The car feels well powered but the automatic transission feels sluggish and hessitant. I would recommend this car however but not the Altise I would recommend getting a model with reverse camera or… Read more
parking sensors to make the car better but other than that it is pretty comfortable to sit in and a huge roomy boot.
Solid reliable & quiet with decent ride – Camry Atara SL 2013, magic stereo a 10 speaker JBL, NO CD PLAYER on Atara SL...go figure? Seats very comfortable and solid, quality leather. The two memory settings is fabulous for two regular drivers! Acres of space, no rocket sled but certainly capable of sub 6L per 100 km on open road if driven gently. Engine refinement; eerily quiet. An… Read more · 2
examination of dyno results for the car show an amazingly flat torque curve to 5000 rpm, and a slow taper thereafter...good work Toyota, the variable cam timing on both inlet and exhaust cams paying dividends here. Plastics a bit squeaky on poor roads, plenty around here! Very satisfied owner thus far, servicing value was as key purchase determinant.
2013 Toyota Camry SL – Quiet car to drive, traded in a 2007 Honda Civic for this. Honda's dashboard was awesome compared to this. Finding this car too big for suburbia driving ie. zooming in and out of places. Turning is a lot harder, especially parking. But a beautiful car to drive long distance, great boot space and roomy inside. Chews up more petrol of course,… Read more
compared to the Civic. Excellent Salesman at Toyota, not pushy, gave you space to consider your purchase and down to earth. All staff there came across as genuine. Boot space, reversing camera, leather seats, reliability, beautiful and smooth to drive, interior space. Seatbelt sensor on front passenger seat, does not allow you to put a handbag on it and not adjustable by Toyota, dashboard layout ordinary, no sunroof for price you pay.
Great car – Had a Ford Falcon Ghia and just took possession of 2013 Camry Atara SL. So far I like it, it has all the fruit of a much more expensive car and yes, it is a 'cardigan car' but I don't care. It's roomy, comfortable and has all I need in a car. All the fruit Show details
As expected – Have a 2012 SL. What I expected. Leather seats bad design and mark easily and getting aftermarket parts is impossible. Car Is slow and noisy. But is everything I expected. It;s also cheap to run. But fuel tank seems small and only 500k before fuel light turns on. Hit my head twice when boot lid falls back down. Handling was a surprise and love all the equipment Good on fuel, looks, equipment, cheap Leather seats, boot hinges, aftermarket parts Show details
