Stay Away from Travel Insuranz – Warning - do not insure with Travel InsurANZ - they will try anything to get out of paying a claim. I had my suitcase stolen from the 22nd Floor of the Hilton Hotel at Niagarra Falls (Hilton - never staying there again they were terrible). The case getting stolen was not in dispute - but they came up with 3 different reason to deny the claim -… Read more
each reason was wrong. 1st No evidence from the Hilton - there were emails from them attached to the claim - they had just not bothered to check. 2nd (it was cases outside the room for pickup at 6:30am) - The said the case was outside for 30minutes. It was stolen with in 5 minutes - so wrong again (the emails from the Hilton had this info). 3rd - that teh cases where in a public place - wrong again - the floor's were secure - only guests and staff allowed - you had to key card to get access to floors. I took this to AFCA and they promised that they way that Travel InsurANZ handled this would form part of teh determination - yet amazing - they just backed their own and hung me out to dry - not one mention of the way Travel InsurANZ fished for a way to get out of paying. So please hed this waring - stay clear and do not use them (and dont expect to get any help from AFCA - they just look after their own!)
There is no point buying insurance. I had a distressing experience and am left out of pocket hundreds – I had my phone stolen and was distressed as a solo female traveler with 2 days left out of the country due to this. I walked to the police station with my travel friend I had made that day and the police told me to do a claim online. My friend had a very basic plan and we used her email address on the form we pulled up on her phone. I had no way… Read more
of logging into my emails / making a police claim .... as I had no phone obviously. You need your own device to certify it is you when logging in to emails these days, I could thus only get into my emails back in Aus at home on my laptop.
Once back home I purchased a new one to replace the stolen one. I got a nice cheaper second hand one. My claim is still rejected because I "didn't report to the police within 24 hours".
Also on this trip I had my bags delayed by 5 days. This meant I had to pay for a parking ticket at the airport when I went to pick them up which was $30. I claimed this as waiting 5 days without clothes was pretty crap. They denied the claim of course. Why? No idea.
You pay nearly $200 for nothing. I would rather have this money go to a charity, not just disappear into nothing and do nothing to help me when I really need it.
They don’t recognise nothing – Very bad service. My flight was cancelled because of the coronavirus. Unfortunately, I bought the ticket through a travel agency that do not answer the phone and emails. However, if I want to use my insurance, they ask for documents from the airline showing the offer of a refund and also, a document showing the exactly amount the airline is going… Read more
to recognise. The question is... if I have all the documents and the airline is going to recognise a refund.. why I want an Insurance?, the idea of having an insurance is to be protected when a “travel agency” or an airline, do not answer or do not recognise a refund.
Nice Cover – We believe this policy to be of good value. We haven't had to make a claim yet. This is the second time we have used this insurance company. Thank You. Show details
Watch out to many exclusions and bad payout ratio – Don't trust their slogan "Don't Worry, Just Travel" as this insurance has to many exclusions. My experience is that they do not pay out cancellation costs when during your travel a parent/grandparent dies while they are having some of those elderly diseases like dementia or Parkinson disease. Reason that this is a pre-existing medical condition.… Read more
People can live up to 20 years with these diseases. Is this not something you would expect you are insured for and covered by a travel insurance?
Further they suggest they payout well as they state they have arranged travel insurance for 2 million people and paid out 30 million. A simple calculation assuming average insurance fee is 50-75 aud per person per policy that their income is 100-150 million. Paying out 30 million means a payout ratio of only 20-30%.
Last but not least please remove my previous review in which i gave them 5 stars, but that was before i put in any claim. You only really know how good your insurance is when you have a claim.
We are sorry that you are disappointed with the… Read more (+1 reply)
Never Take This Insurance – Shocked I was after reading our claim was denied. How is this possible if your dad and father-in-law deceased and you think you have a travel insurance incl cancellation coverage? That can’t be right and therefore we file this complaint. First of all, the common understanding of the word relative in a dictionary is: “a person who is connected… Read more
with another or others by blood or marriage”. Nobody would ever check in the Definition list if a relative includes your dad with the “minor” detail that this is only for Australian or New Zealand dads… What a discrimination! Your dad is your dad wherever he lives on the planet, that should not matter. This is pure deception to the people who buy the travel insurance because they will never check the Definition of the word relative because everybody would assume (because it is common practice), your dad is covered under the insurance. We were not notified by Travel Insuranz that not being a resident of Australia had some serious consequences on our travel insurance policy / coverage. Travel Insuranz neglected to inform us properly that the cancellation is only applicable for people who have all their relatives living in Australia or NZ.
In a country where 50% of the population is from abroad you should make your customers aware of such a crucial exclusion and don’t hide it away in the Definitions list, that is really unprofessional, unfair and misleading the customers. When we agreed on the policy, Travel Insuranz already knew we were not residents of Australia, and we notified the travel insurance this was the case. Still there was for Travel Insuranz no reason to inform us about any exceptional exclusions in the conditions.
Either way we needed to cancel our trip to Fiji due to the fact my partner was seriously ill because as you can understand, losing both of your parents at the age of 30 with three younger brothers to take care of, this is a sickening situation.
We would appreciate if "this travel insurance" can review our case once more and take our situation into account.
I submitted my complaint a week ago and never heard back from you.
Thank you for your recent review. A key objective… Read more
Complete waste of money – I was covered with premium cover and had additional snow sports cover. On my last day on holidays, I broke my foot snowboarding. After a week of contact with the company and 3 unreturned emails. They have refused to pay any medical expenses as I had the surgery the day I flew into Australia. Also they refused any financial help as I will be out of… Read more
work for 6 weeks from the the surgery, although it was in the contract that they would cover it, the "fine print" states that it is only if I have a perminant disability that refrains me from any time of work for over a year. Worst company I have had to deal with. Don't waste your money!
