So wanted to like it BUT – I still for some perverse reason still like the worst road bike I have ever had, in the flesh it looks great, to sit on it is great, then sadly for me personally it all falls apart, maybe it is something to do with being exactly the wrong height for the seat ?? I am 1.87 when riding it is without compare the most uncomfortable bike I have ever… Read more
had, I have moved the bars, changed the seat, adjusted the very limited suspension and still it cannot be ridden for more than 50 km at a time before "but burn" sets in ( I have ridden an assortment of bikes round Australia and Europe ) and the America is far and away the worst for comfort bike I have ever had, I am so disappointed as I am at the time in my life when I just want to cruise and I really wanted to do that on a Triumph, additionally it is crying out for a 6th gear and the lights on the tank are a total waste of space, I love it to look at, listen to, and to work on but as for riding it...............
Fantastic Starter Bike or Long Term Cruiser – Triumph America has all the power you need and it's NOT just for around town...that's ridiculous! I bought a 2012 Triumph America used and it had approx. 4K on it (kilometers). I have been loving it totally. At the start of this season (April 2017) it had 17K and as of today, Sept. 2017, after a 670 kilometer ride up to Bruce Peninsula in… Read more
Ontario Canada I am proud to announce 30,700 kilometers to date-and I am far from done before the "white stuff" appears. This is not "just around town"! I get comments from all other riders and yes even Harley D riders. I was thinking of trading up to T Bird, Rocket, and even either a HD Road king or Indian Springfield but I always come back to "what for?". My bike stalled a bit at first and my smart mechanic increased the idle slightly and guess what...no more stalling ever again. Thinking of a real dependable, reliable motorcycle that looks and performs great? Try the America...I love it. IMHO fantastic starter and if your looking for more in future, hey, go for it even if its just a Suzuki. Its all good. Ride safe and enjoy!
UPDATE April 5 2018
It’s a bitter sweet time for me. I’m saying good bye to my 2012 Triumph America and handing it over to the Indian dealership as I pick up my new beauty Indian Springfield. I hope I love and enjoy my Springfield as much as I have my Triumph America. I will write a review after about 5000 kilometres or so. Thinking of a Triumph? Don’t think just get one - you deserve it! Have safe fun and ride free.
Back in the saddle as they say after near 20 years – Since my daughters have graduated time to fulfill a promise I made to myself. To begin riding again. Looked/researched the myriad of bikes out there, found a 2007 Triumph America that I couldn't ignore. The bike is well balanced, nimble, and efficient. Pulls strong throughout the rev band and am sure two up will be no problem. Put several… Read more
100-500mi trips on it and am currently planning a 4 state 3000mi trip this summer. Without a doubt a worthy bike to consider.
Augsut 29th 2016 Update: Update to my previous review of 2007 Triumph America
Just completed my summer road trip. Turned out I hit 4,000 miles starting from Central Ca. running thru Eastern Ore, the Idaho Panhandle, thru Western Montana, Eastern Wa, Southern British Columbia, and back down the Pacific Ocean Hwy 101. Went from 100+ and sea level to 50 degrees at 8,000 ft. Sun and rain, traffic to none, paved freeways to gravel 2 laners, bike performed excellent. Comfortable the entire trip, plenty of power not a hint of problems. Excellent bike!

Triumph America review – Very well balanced bike that handles well in a safe manner good braking and enough power for a pillion passenger by far regards to touring. Mine has done 23,000 Ks since new and it's faultless regards to engine and gearbox. Top buy for the beginner to experienced rider take one for a rest ride and see for yourself. Show details
17 TRIUMPH AMERICA - NICE RIDE -The Last Lonely Eagle ! – I agree that when one knowingly buys a model which is in the process of being discontinued from the dealer/manufacturer - that the SUPPORT should be flowing more as in financial incentive , as opposed to high prices of these parts. That said I love my dealer's slightly used ( 7 K ) 17 Triumph America with floorboards , and hope parts… Read more
remain available for it from Triumph for a long while . Handle's well and has a nice low smooth torque .The OEM seating as on my other past Bonneville's had to be changed so this time immediately went to the Mustang with drivers backrest seat to go from pain to smiling and worth every penny . Completely smiling and lovin my ride on a goodlloking/satisfying/ working machine to tag me thru the hills and valleys of farmlands ribonning.road I have the good fortune to be surrounded by till the winter LOL
My Ride – bought a 2009 efi America in 2016 with 12K miles. It now has 28K on the clock. Had stalling and starting problem that was sorted by a new battery. No other complaints except neutral and high beam and turn indicator lamps are out of site as they sit on the tank. I tend to ride for a couple of hours at a time then stop for a coffee, i am happy to… Read more
ride 500 miles in a day and it does 160 miles to the tank so not too many fuel stops. The bike sits you slightly higher than other cruisers which helps with seeing down the road, but does not effect how it corners.
I am 14 stone and the wife is 12 stone, with both on board the bikes sturdy and you don't notice the pillion too much as the suspension copes well.
I changed tyres from Metzler to Avon and this improved handling in the wet.
All in all im a happy triumph owner.

First cruiser, last Triumph it looks like – Ran good for 25,000 miles. Needed coils, wires, wheel bearings. Rode additional 24,908 miles, won't stay running. Replaced coils again, wires, plugs, Ignitor, cleaned carbs, (3rd time) timed carbs, set air gap, new battery, and now won't stay running. I guess I should have bought an Indian Scout. Sad that things are made to fail, so you keep buying. Show details
Underpowered, noisy engine, stalls – Not a great bike. The engine sounds awful and has stalled several times for no apparent reason, once while going around a tight bend in the mountains. Cruises ok up to 80kph but after that you're looking for a 6 th gear that it doesn't have but desperately needs. Useless for long distance travel. Even a bike shop that sells them told me they are… Read more
only good for around town. Trading mine in after 2200km and picking upon my new Suzuki tomorrow morning. Can't wait to be rid of the Triumph and its problems. Looks nice on the outside but has a tall first gear and struggles to take off from lights with my wife as pillion passenger and she is only a small build. Clunky gearbox too. Buyer beware. Like one bloke said "Chrome won't get you home". Look up common Triumph America problems on google. There are forums discussing the problems with stalling. Worth a read.
Bike and customer service both stink – New bike stalled while riding, would not start at times, bike in shop since May. We can't get a answer as to what is wrong . Last word we got was Triumph is busy working on another big problem. Here is my prob, I am paying a loan on a bike I can not use. Triumph stinks. Do not buy one

Love the Bike...Sad to see it Discontinued – I purchased my 2016 Triumph America in May 2018 with 39 km on the odometer. It is my first bike and although I have not had other bikes to compare against I absolutely love this bike! I was a bit nervous about going with an 865 cc cruiser right out of the gate but if you are a first time rider I would suggest just taking it easy and putting in… Read more
some extra time on a parking lot before you go out on the highway. Make sure in particular that you have your counter steering down because this is not a 125 cc that you can easily muscle around in turns. The bike is awesome...it is just that as a newer rider you need to make sure your skills are there to ride it properly. Also wear a full faced helmet and proper gear all the time. Be safe! That said I have ridden this bike for 2 seasons now and the handling is amazing. It has plenty of get up and go. Although some people complain about the seat, I find the stock seat quite comfortable for a few hours at a stretch. For range I generally go 300 km before I need to fuel up and regular gas does the trick just fine. There is no fuel gauge so I generally set my trip odometer to give me an idea of when I should refuel. There is a warning light when you are close to empty. If I had one complaint it would be the turn signals. They are not auto cancelling and you can't easily confirm that you have cancelled them without hitting the button again (or looking down at the tank which is not a great idea). Still, a minor flaw for an otherwise awesome bike! Update August 2020 Coming up to 3 seasons and just over 9,000 k on the odometer and I still love this bike. No issues whatsoever...I have considered other bikes and perhaps going bigger but at the end of the day there is nothing I need performance or comfort wise that this bike can’t do. Added the stock LT windshield this year. I get a lot of comments on this bike...I meet a lot of people who love the Triumphs (even the Harley riders). I updated the braking to a 5 star as the America brakes beautifully if you use proper technique. ABS is a nice to have if you mess up but it doesn’t entirely take the place of practicing emergency braking. What can I say? No regrets buying this bike even 3 years later. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a middle weight cruiser.
Tracking issues – I Have a 2015 America and have an issue at low speed it dose not want to track straight and when taking off from a standing start it wants to wobble may have something to do with the design of the front wheel being off set Show details
50 years between new triumphs – Purchased a new triumph Bonneville in 1965 {480 pound or $960} This then was regarded as the best money could buy. Beautiful looking bike in pacific blue and silver. No more whining !! – Purchased the blue/white 2007 America this summer...having been a Triumph rider for 40+ years, I will say that this one breaks the trumpet mold for sure...Lots of reviewers try to compare it to a higher-performing 2-wheeler...it was never meant to be that....Triumph still produces a bike with tons of personality, reasonable handling and dependability and a bitchin' design. If you're not happy with this baby, it's time to revamp... Show details
Best purchase I've ever made. I love her ! – Handles great ! I'm 6'0" 240 pounds and it fits me like a glove. Feel like we are one when riding. Won't ever sell it. It's a 2013 865 cc and has great pick up off the start. Handles beautiful in turns. Shifting is smooth and so is the ride. Show details
Mine is the only one in my town – I purchased mine in the spring of 2016… It took a bit to warm up to it but I love it now ...I just wish there was a better selection of aftermarket accessories… I would kill for a drivers backrest that I didn't have to change my seat for.. if I had to say something bad it would have to be how the chrome on the tank reflects off my windscreen and blinds me Show details
Love it – Traded in my 2012 Bonneville on a 2016 America. Best decision I've made. The Bonnie was top heavy and always felt like it was going to slip out from under you. The America has a low center of gravity and is perfectly balanced. It is a joy to ride. Also have a Harley road king and while I love it, it has a tendency to feel heavy and you… Read more
have to work at keeping it balanced. Not a huge engine on the America but big enough for country road riding.
My everyday do everything bike – 60 yo w/ 35 yrs riding. My 2003 America is the bike i would keep if I could only keep one.. the others ( 05 cvo fatboy, 09 guzzi grizo ). My bonni does everything i ask of it without fail or complaint. The exhaust sings happy to me in the upper r's and responds to my steering inputs like we are one, like I know her and she knows me . I have a wonderful year with my Triumph America – One year pass and I have a lot of the experience with my Triumph America, the response in the road is magnificent. The motor 865 cc is it strong and establish in the road that the moment to run. I am very satisfied in brought this motorcycle She is beautiful, the color when the sun illuminate the motorcycle she look fantastic Show details
Excellent – I am a petite 5'2, 60 year old woman and have been riding the 2013 America for 2 years. I just got back from a 2000klm ride and did 1200klm of that in one day, through lots of rain. The bike is perfect and I'm totally happy with it. It is a trifle heavy for me which is great motivation for me to keep fit. Beautiful Bike. Marg
Great quality, solid engine – Bought a 2008 model with 7500km, with madaz pipes and leather panniers. After 30 years of not riding it was a good choice to get back into it. Have upgrade suspension front and back (progressive brand) and custom seats from local trimmer, no regrets. This is a sweet ride with a strong torquey motor which just goes & goes with no issues. really well for a cruiser with good ground clearance. Takes a bit to warm up and you need to use fast idling knob after an hour or so after rest, just shows how efficient it runs.
It has loads of character and great sound from the pipes, it's built solid and really easy to maintain yourself if your a hands on rider.
Definitely a bike to buy if you want to stay away from harleys and japanese crap. Good resale value too.
Love the Triumph America! – had not ridden for twenty years, bought a Honda Shadow 750 to get back into it. Thought I was happy, then my brother took me to the local Triumph dealer and I fell in love with the America! Think I bought a lemon – Bought a new 2014 America LT earlier this year, and it failed the first 800km service. First was an oil leak in the air pipe at front of engine (fixed under Warranty but approval took time), then a failed seal around the manifold was found (warranty approval sought and obtained), now there is a problem with the engine dying and the Triumph dealer… Read more
can't seem to find the problem even with their diagnostics machine. They pulled apart the carb and cleaned it with no change. The bike has been with them for over a month now, and I am not impressed. I want my old Honda Shadow back as I had none of this nonsense. The Honda was also much easier to ride.
Great bike – Its a great bike but I find the seat uncomfortable after a short ride ,tried the optional gel seat but it wasnt any better there is a memory foam mod available.
Mature Triumph lady rider – I purchased my 2007 Triumph America August 2013 with 23,500 km. In 16 months I have added 37,000 kms, some of these kilometres spent travelling from Melbourne to Queensland and back. I live in Tasmania and as most bikers know Tassie has some great country roads to cruise. The only thing I had to change on the bike for a more comfortable ride was… Read more · 2
the seat as I found I could not firmly place my feet on the ground when stationery. I purchased a custom seat from the States which lowered the bike around 2 inches. I am around 60 kgs in weight and find the size and weight of the bike manageable. This is my second bike, starting off on a Hyosung GV250 when I originally learnt to ride several years ago. At the present moment I am an extremely happy Triumph owner and cannot see myself riding anything other than a Triumph for many riding years to come, for style, comfort and reliability its a Triumph all the way for me..
best bike ever – Handles well, performs well, great corner hugger for a cruiser. Pipes could sound better than whats on them. Thats the only complaint. Great head turner. Lots of comments.
Triumph America 2011 – Great bike, purchased her a couple of months ago, blue & white with white wall tyres done 32K now have it on 34K.. Easy to ride , enough power, cheap to run and looks the bit... So many people stop and look , ask questions etc... The main comment I get ... Is that, "She is all class!" Awesome bike for the price, Under rated! :) Very smooth.. Easy to ride.. Inexpensive, value for money. Lovely!
Great fun to ride – I have had my 2013 Triumph America for a month now and love it. My previous bike was a BMW which was great but I am getting on a bit and the lighter weight was perfect. Takes a while to get used to the forward controls, but loving it. With my wife on the back, it still performs really well and is comfortable for both of us. Light, plenty of power and fun.
2013 triumph america – Have just purchased a 2013 america, with 800 Kms and did over 1000kms on the first weekend. I have owned quite a few bikes over the last 40 years and this is the first bike that I feel like just keeping on going and going and going, I don't get stiff or bad back or acheing bum ect. I do use a foam cushion on all my bikes. Handles great, has got enough power and loves the corners. Show reply
2012 America – Bought our cruiser with 750k, fitted new exhaust and panniers. We have done more than 10,000k in 12 months and loved every one. owned japanese bikes, euro, and the big twin HD, apart from my old Moto Guzzi (which is a differernt style, from a different time in life) this bike is by far my fave. Reliable, comfortable, looks cool Chain drive, although I have to admit modern chains are a doddle to service etc.

Triumph America 2007 – Bought this bike 2nd hand, have done roughly 600klms on it -400ks on 1 trip great bike, cruises very well, actually can handle the twisty stuff reallly well which was a pleasant surprise and because of the reasonaby high ground clearance means you can lean it into a corner at a decent angle....(more so than a more conventional cruiser perhaps).… Read more
Love the slightly more retro look it has about it plus the throaty oomph it has from the twin custom exhausts. Doesn't look as flashy as other cruisers which adds appeal for me. Handling, clearance
2011 America – Bought with 800kms on the clock, now 3000. These are very cool bikes, turn heads and you don't look like a drug runner. Triumph extras are way over priced so shop around. Love it! Lots of custom options to give it that 'my isn't look. Black ones are fastest :-) almost the same bike as the Speedmaster. The look...very cool. Seat is hard, new one coming.
Great bike with looks – I have not owned the America for very long, but it is a great bike to ride. It corners better than most other cruisers without dragging bits on the ground. Had the muffler changed before I even picked it up as the stock is hopelessly quiet. I do not like the seat as I get a numb bottom in about 1 hour of riding.
