Mis-quoting – Submitted a job for a cctv assessment and received a quote for an assessment of $99. After 4 time re-reschedules they finally a turned only to be told I needed a cctv assessment (exactly what I asked for) then advised there is a cctv fee of $480 and the $99 was for them to tell what I needed to do. I didn’t proceed so then had to pay $99 to be given the aadvice the same advice I have them. Also I think they use an offshore call centre.

They rip you off – I called tuggeranong plumbers to get a pipe blasted they couldn't give me a indication on price over the phone and i said as i cant afford much max $500 they still said nothing. Then when they turned the plumber straight up said they wanted to charged me $989 + gst to clear it and then said there is no promises. If he can look at me and give me a… Read more

price without seeing anything how can they not give me a indication over the phone. I sent them away as I could not afford it and I don't know about u but that prixe is ridiculous. I called another local plumber who is part of the MPA (master plumbers association) and they cleared the pipe quickly and only charged me $350.

Way expensive, do not go with this company – I changed my gas hot water system, called them got a quote of $2900. I tried other called few, found it should be that expensive. Did the job for $1850 with Canberra hot water. Same size, brand and very quality job. If I hadn't clled other I would end of paying $2900. Will never call tuggeranong plumbing for job. Show details

False promises – This company initially seemed professional. A representative appeared on site at the time expected. They prepared a quote - it seemed high however I am prepared to pay more for a job well done in a timely manner. They asked for a 50% deposit for the job that would be completed within the next few weeks. I happily paid $2k promptly in good faith. … Read more

After many calls. emails and false promises three months later someone finally appeared on site but only to measure up. OK I thought better late than never. I asked that the job proceed as soon as possible and if it would not delay things then to please undertake a little more work.... more time, calls, emails, I agreed a quoted price for the extra - they advised the job would be done within the week.

Two weeks later they called around 1pm saying the job would be complete today - the job was several $k worth - I required notice to remove an awning for work to proceed. They were confident the work would be complete so I dropped everything to remove the awning in preparation for them. Then I received an email insisting I pay extra deposit $ before materials would be purchased and work will proceed. Doh!!!

I'll update this review when I get the deposit back or the work is done.

A couple of days after this post the job was done. I didn't pay extra deposit. The sub-contracted roofing team were efficient and did a good job.

don't contact there crooks, part of the local plumbing group, including Canberra blocked drains – this is a multi-named group owned by Mr. khan, refer to access Canberra takes action against your local plumbing group. You find all the names. my problem is with Canberra blocked drains. I contacted them for a drain clean. they claimed there was a major blockage. and broken pipe when they faked and attempted to clean. they scammed me into a excavation. when a real clean was all that was needed. go with a master plumber, its safer. Show details

Only one word of advice: Go Elsewhere – Agree 100% with other reviews. Too many layers of operation: 1. TP = Reception & Admin. 2. Assessor -charged out at $200 for 15minute visit (subcontractor 1) ; 3. actual plumber (sub-sub contractor 2) - job took less than 1 hour to fix but charged by TP at $1100. Deceptive & dishonest quote vs. invoice by TP. Felt thoroughly ripped off. … Read more

Promises of attendance by TP unfulfilled - took 5 days to organise visit after promise of 12 hours. Despite the issues, the actual assessor and plumber were skilled, pleasant and reliable. However, the umbrella company's management and procedures lead to the advice - Go elsewhere!

Save your money and go elsewhere – I wish I read the reviews before I booked here. Our plumber was great but to then be quoted once price and receive another on the invoice is ridiculous! They also charge a 1.5% credit card charge! Absolute rip off.

They left a poo explosion on every surface of my toilet - the floor, the walls, the ceiling the walls – I'm still in a state of shock. I wish I had read the reviews first. The guy blasted water into an outside pipe which literally caused a poo explosion on every surface of my toilet room - the walls, the floor, the ceiling, the door. It looked like something from a horror movie. The plumber would not even go in to look and said that's what happened… Read more

when they used a jet. My daughter had to sit in the car the smell was so bad as i cleaned it up. It cost me $800 for him to do whatever he did but it's not fixed. I am literally gobsmacked by the complete gibberish that came out of this guy's mouth. I feel like i have been totally fleeced. It was a blocked toilet - an emergency when you have little kids and one toilet and they failed to turn up the first day and then came the second. I wish I had never used them. I am a single mum and just feel preyed upon.

If you like false promised arrival time – Promised plumber to arrive between 10 and 12 am. No-one arrived. Then promised 12.30 arrival. No-one arrived. Promised someone would be here at 9.00 the next working day. You guessed it, no-one arrived. Finally we got our quote, but price outrageously high.

Worst service ever – I have used them to unblock my drains, the plumber said he had removed all the blocks and said my drains are in very good condition, but the issue came back again after just one day.

Avoid at all costs! – They won’t give you any idea of costs over the phone. I know an exact quote can’t be given but they must have standard prices for ‘if it’s xxxx we’ll have to xxxx which costs xxxx.’ You have to have someone come and quote you for $50 which will be used towards the cost if you go ahead. They then quote a ridiculous price (3 x my regular plumber!) knowing that most people already feel committed because they’ve already had to pay the quote fee.

Beware – I would encourage anyone needing a plumber to read about the ACT Supreme Court issuing a substantial fine for its business practices to an umbrella company Your Local Plumbing Group Pty Ltd which goes by many other names in Canberra including Tuggeranong Plumbing. If only there was a 'no star' option – Could not accurately identify the location of a drain blockage - they actually were prepared to tear up our yard to fix a blockage that was nowhere near where they said it was. Got someone else out the following day for a second opinion. They charged us half of what Tugg Plumbing charged for the same investigative work. The blockage itself… Read more

turned out to be at the complete opposite side of the yard to where Tugg Plumbing said it was. Useless, rude and aggressive when told we were getting someone else to give a second opinion. They are also part of the 'YLPG' - your local plumbing group. A quick google search (which I wish we had done before engaging this lot) shows their shonky and dishonest business dealings. Lots of info from the ACCC, Fair Trading and Access Canberra on YLPG - steer clear.

are a joke!! no customer service, rude and dishonest – Cannot deliver on there stated contract, unwilling to provide polite customer service. Rude and talk over you. manager and they advised we don't have a manager. Everything must be via email... I sent emails and they still have not responded. No one from the Tuggeranong Plumbing oversaw the job, it was all sub contracted out. Rang them on the day of deliver and they had saved my number and didn't want to answer the phone. All previous contacts I have dealt with where on site or unable to talk. Requested a call back presume that will not come either. Finally got through when I hid my number and as soon as they knew the client was, was rude and hung up on me. Really cannot believe this as occurred. Do Not Use – I wish I could give zero stars... It's a Friday, I called at 2pm, major blockage can't use any facilities, they advised someone would be out within 2 hours. 5 mins to 4pm and I receive a message, office is closing here is plumbers number. I call to confirm, he confirms, never turns up. 10pm no one has shown up, all of my texts and calls go… Read more

Scammers And Thugs -- Don't Touch Them! – We were fed up with a leaking tap in the kitchen and called Tuggeranong Plumbing to give us a quote. $700, they said. You're joking, we said. Then they came the heavy, demanding $450 just to cancel the job (my wife, under duress, had put her signature on the tablet screen thrust at her). Eventually we settled for $150, for no service… Read more

whatsoever, but only after some very nasty exchanges. We called the Master Plumbers Association of the ACT, who told us that Tuggeranong Plumbing were not a member of their association; that they've had a truckload of complaints about this company; and that we shouldn't touch them with a barge-pole (or words to that effect). For a long time now they've been under investigation by the company regulator in the ACT, but so far as we can establish, no action has yet been taken to put them where they belong -- in the clink.

Could not recommend. Will not use again – The plumbers for my VERY basic garden tap x 2 replacement (quote by 1 plumber, then the work by another) were perfectly fine but the office is very difficult to deal with. Because I cancelled a request to also replace a washing machine tap - literally MINUTES after the work was booked - the office claimed they had to charge $80 ‘restocking fee’… Read more

to cover their costs for collecting the tap and returning it to the stockist when unused.

The work was booked in at 3.30pm. I cancelled the washing machine tap at 3.58pm. Plumber arrived to do the work at 8.15pm the next day. Not overly inconvenient even if I hadn’t cancelled.

Tried to speak to someone but all of the office staff answering phones only schedule work. They know nothing of work, accounts, when due dates for payment are (given invoices threaten a penalty of 20% a day) or how cash payments can be made. They offer to help without actually being able to do anything.

The accounts manager can ONLY be contacted via email (ie at her convenience), there is no office premises to attend in person and no surnames are given. It is a very strange and risky environment for a customer.

Ultimately the extra $80 was removed after I sought confirmation that I cancelled directly from the plumber - the office was not going to do that for me even though it would have saved much of the office manager’s time in sorting this out.

The work was V expensive. $567.60 for 2 basic garden tap replacements.

Lying ripoff merchants – My parents got Tuggeranong plumbing out to fix a leaky bathroom tap. I then got a text from my parents saying that it was a closed unit, they couldn't replace the washer and the whole taps would need to be replaced at a cost of $700. This is complete garbage as I have replaced them myself previously. I got home, opened up the "closed" tap unit… Read more

and fixed the problem in under 10 minutes.

When I called to complain, they left me on hold for over 15 minutes before I gave up.

Leaking Hot Water System – Great customer service before, during and after installation of my hot water unit. Could not recommend them highly. Very professional crew, punctual and experienced plumbers. The job was completed quickly and now we have no issues with my hot water unit.

An extremely poor company, they simply did not care! – We could smell gas from under the cooktop and called Tuggeranong Plumming, a person was reasonably prompt with coming and attempting to diagnose the problem, no definite source but maybe it is coming from this problem which resulted in a $600 job (plus call out fee) which my wife booked in for completion that afternoon. This young fellow went away… Read more

with all gas turned off everwhere. The afternoo return revisit did not happen, at bath time that evening, the lack of hotwater was found and due to the gas been off for a few hours, I couldn't get it relit in the dark. Finally the close of the next day, we received another call to say all plummers are sick and it will have to wait till tomorrow. Shelley asked that at least someone come and light the hot water system. No can do. There was not one 'sorry'. My wife asked for her call out fee and deposit to be returned, no can do, she will need to speak to management. Can I speak to management, no can do. Given the number of plummers in the ACT, use someone else. Dave and Shelley

Not recommended – Would not recommend at all. $550 for a jet blast which didn't clear the blockage. They said they would have to dig up a hole to inspect the sewer. $6k to dig 2.4m to a sewer, quoted another $7k to dig up another part of the pipe. Fortunately the $7k was avoided after I asked them to do a jet blasting of the pipe which freed the blockage. But I… Read more

had to suggest this – they didn’t even consider it. I felt like they were only interested in finding ways to charge as much as they could and didn’t spend much effort exploring or trying easier options that could save a lot of money. They ignored me when I asked them for an itemised bill for the $6k invoice. So there is a complete lack of transparency in their pricing. Their quotes don’t appear to be related to the actual work that needs to be done – they appeared to come up with the quotes off the top of their heads without too much thought. Have since talked to another plumber and they were surprised that Tuggeranong Plumbing didn't even try an eel through the sewer which could have avoided the need to dig it up in the first place. So in summary, they fixed the sewer problem but felt like they saw me as just a cash cow rather than a valued customer. In hindsight I should have asked for a quote upfront and shopped around for a better plumber.

Rip Off – Had Tuggeranong Plumbing come and do a quote to replace an inlet valve, cost of a new inlet valve $15-$30 at the most. Half an hour job if that, cost $412 plus gst. Have another plumber coming tomorrow for the same job quarter of the price. Would not recommend this company, maybe they just didn't want the job. But he could of done it there and then easy money. feel really ripped off still paid the call out fee of $49 plus gst.

Take Care – I was quoted over $600 to replace a toilet cistern. Thinking that the cost was a bit excessive I went to Bunnings and purchased a replacement for $154.
