Twinings Earl Grey

Was a big fan and liked the taste of Earl Grey Tea. But recently the flavours and infusions has gone downhill. Still smells like an Earl Grey Tea but now lacks flavour and depth. Stumbled upon a packet of Lipton's Earl Grey Tea and it literally has me converted now. It has a much stronger and bolder flavour than Twinings brand. Show details
Your Earl Grey loose leaf tea is the worst Earl grey I have ever tried. Weak and tasteless. Have to use 4 scoops just to get some flavour but it still tastes awful. Won't be buying again Show details
Agree with everyone else on here. Twinning Earl Grey has lost its flavour, even Lady Grey is tasteless too. Very disappointing. Have changed to Dilmah Earl Grey. Much more flavour. Show details

You know when a product has been around for so long that you believe that tradition and history holds its place….then you read the fine print that they have to put on the packaging. The big stuff says “By Royal Appointment”, “Twinings of London” and Est 1706…300 years etc… Then in light yellow small print: Blended and Packed in Poland. QE11 would… Read more
not be amused!! Besides never being able to open all those Twinings boxes with 2 quick rips of the strips I am going to boycott this deception and tell my acquaintances. 1706-2025
Contaminated – What is going on with Twinings Earl Grey tea? I haven’t bought it for some time (probably about 2 years). I usually drink a quality Ceylon Pekoe (Broken Orange Pekoe) tea in leaves - and a lot of it. Thought I’d try some Earl Grey again for a change. I opened the loose leaves to put in my tea caddy and Oh My Goodness it’s full of twigs plus tea… Read more
that looks like a mix of chunky and dust fine tea. I’m too scared to even drink it. Who knows what these twigs are in the mix?! Disgraceful and I’ve misplaced my Invoice to return it to the supermarket where I purchased it. Come on Twinings - the box states “A tea fit for an Earl!” I would more likely say “A tea that would give the 2nd Earl Grey of England a fit!!!” Buyer beware!
Can't live without it, something to think about – A September 2019 description is on the box, LIGHT STRENGTH ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Trust Twining's tea tasters. That packet description is accurate, so we must assume, the benchmark for the Australian blend has been altered dramatically to suit certain tea lovers. Mourning the loss of “A sound tea base, bright and brisk, comes through well in balance with… Read more
the bergamot and lemon.”
The United Kingdom appears to have the original in 2019, the image included as an example.

I was shocked to see that most of the big tea Brands treat there Leaf pickers like 3rd class people EG noToilets or drinking water where they pick, They have to carry there heavy loads down steep trails, & if there don't pick 18klgs a day they get 1/2 Pay, totally disgusting, Also there housing that id supplied is only just 3rd world at best, I will not be buying any of these main brands again!!!!!! Why has earl grey changed to some sour cats urine !!!!!!!! Tried to buy some today and all they have is some CITRUSY URINE TASTING GARBAGE!!!!! WHY WOUlD THEY REMOVE the original product and replace it without so much as a by your leave!!! Twinings just lost all our business and between the family we used 4-5 packs of various twinings products, never again!!!!!! Loyalty is absolutely these days!!!! Show details
No more Earl Grey experience – I don’t know what genius at Twinning decided to change the formula of their Earl Grey Tea, but I have stopped buying their Earl Grey. There is no bergamot in their tea and this flavour alone distinguishes Earl Grey from others. I have written to them only to say that they have not changed the recipe. This is total… Read more
trash…. I have been drinking Twinning for over 50 years and they have changed their Earl Grey blend. I now use Dilmah Earl Grey and suggest others to do the same. What a shame Twinnings, driven by cost and not flavour. Remember what happened to Qantas ….!!!
Twinings, you’ve ruined your Earl Grey tea. Can’t taste the Bergamot which is the thing that makes it earl grey! It tastes like nothing. Please give us our tea back! Show details
We used to love having a Twinings Earl Grey before bed. Loose tea made in a pot. It makes sense why it is no longer as enjoyable now I know the recipe has changed. We dislike it so much that we won't be buying it again. Very disappointing. Change it back Twinings! Show details
Twinings Earl Grey is now weak tasting – I agree with most other reviews. Twinings Earl Grey was great until they changed recipe recently. Now it's weak, bland & boring with very little bergamot, citrus or tea flavour. Will now look for a better tasting brand ☹ Show details

Bland, boring and no longer Earl Grey! – Twinings have taken the Earl Grey out of their Earl Grey tea (and their Lady Grey and Vanilla Chai are equally bland and boring)! Honestly, if I did a blindfolded taste test I would not be able to identify it as Earl Grey - and I have a good palate! There's definitely been a product change and I won't be buying Twinings again. BTW, if you're… Read more
looking for a good plain tea, try Taj Mahal black loose tea (in Coles). It's inexpensive and makes a really good cuppa!
It's no longer tea! – This new Twinings Earl Grey recipe is not tea. It's dishwater. I will not be, having bought this tea for over 20 years, be buying it again.
Hate the new Earl Grey Tea – I hate the new Earl Grey tea. Why did they have to change something that everyone liked!!! I won’t buy it anymore, the new one tastes foul. Show details
So disappointing – So disappointing, we love a cup of earl grey...they've definitely taken the aaahhhh factor out.....cant taste the bergamont anymore....reading other comments and yes we agree it tastes like dishwater.
Earl Grey not what it was – Twinings what have you done to your Earl Grey tea?, the tea us now tasteless and you should be prosecuted under the trade descriptions act for labeling this blend as ‘Earl Grey’. Time for me to purchase a better brand.
Weak taste, dreadful flavour – I agree with all these negative reviews .Have been drinking Twinings Earl Grey tea for many years and thought it was my taste buds getting old. Had a cheaper Earl Grey tea at work and it tasted better . Please don’t fix what is not broken. ACT Show details
Twinings broke something that didn't need fixing – I didn't realise they'd changed the recipe, my new box and first teabag had no flavour today. Looked online and realised Twinings broke something that didn't need fixing. My go to cuppa is gone. Show details
New Awful taste – First ever review and am doing so because I don’t have confidence any comment will be paid attention by the company. My first morning cup has been twinnings earl grey for decades. The taste is now bland and unpleasant. I will not be purchasing any more twinnings products unless this is addressed.
Terrible taste – The new tast of earl grey is rather unpleasant not my usual relaxing tea time experience, please bring back the original flavour.. I definitely will go to another brand Show details

Why WHY – I carn't believe that twinnings had changed the flavor of the new Earl grey.. I've been drinking Earl grey for the past 40yrs. I first noticed the box had changed.. Any way I normally buy 5 boxes x100 tea bags at once.. I decided to only buy a 10. Pack.. to try.. Rubbish rubbish.. YOU HAVE LOST ME TWINNINGS WHY WHY WHY .. AS THEY SAY DON'T FIX IT IFS IT'S NO BROKEN Show details
Twinings Earl Grey - You have just lost a life long customer – This review relates to the Twinings Earl Grey 10 pack. I have bought nothing but Twinings Earl Grey Tea for over 40 years & have always enjoyed the aromatic smell & the lovely crisp flavour. Whatever they have done to it recently has wrecked the whole tea exoerience for me. I no longer get that lovely bergamot smell when I open the foil lined… Read more
sachet. In fact the sachet is no longer foil lined.
There is no delicious aroma to greet you & zero flavour compared to what it used to be like in the old packaging.
When I realised the colour of the box had changed I raced around trying to buy up old stock only to find that they are using old boxes with the new teabags inside as well, probably just using up the last of the old boxes, none the less both confusing & dissapointing.
I took the time to email Twinings who said they had abandoned the old packaging in order to become more "sustainable" no explanation about the lack of aroma & flavour, just a fleeting comment on how they would refer my concerns to the quality team.
Twinings you have LOST a customer.
I am now buying Earl Grey loose tea off ebay that is delicious & putting it in empty teabags also purchased off ebay.
It's way more expensive, but a price I am prepared to pay fir a decent cup of tea.
Twinnings Earl Grey teabags with the golden yellow tag have no flavour. Time to change! – So disappointed in this new Twinnings Earl Grey teabag with the golden yellow tag colour. I notice its flavour strength on the box has been changed from 2 out of 5 leaves, to 1 out of 4 leaves. It has no flavour at all, it’s like drinking milky water. I have enjoyed its previous flavour for decades. It’s time to change brands. Someone mentioned T2. I’ll give this a go.
Terrible – Ever since Twinnings updated to a brighter yellow box the taste of the tea bags now is terrible. The Earl Grey tea bags are now flavourless and not anywhere near the quality they were a few months ago. You have lost our household Show details
Taste has changed! – We have been drinking Only Twinings Earl Grey for decades. We've never liked other EG - usually too floral. The recent package we purchased has different colour tabs and a different flavour. We don't like it at all. Can't describe how disappointed we are. Thanks to prior reviewers we'll try Madura and T2. Fingers crossed we'll find a good one.
Dish water – Twinings Eary Grey has changed, tastes awful! Like others, we will try another brand of Earl Grey after 20 years of drinking Twinings. Why "fix" something that aint broke and has strong following? Such a shame Twinings.. please go back to the original mix and keep the bergamot! Very disappointing as we religiously drank TEG every day! I would have put zero stars but this formed wouldnt allow it.
Disgusting will never buy again – I used to buy earl grey all the time but with our last purchase I noticed the taste and smell has changed, it's nothing like it used to be, it's disgusting I will never buy again changed to Madura Earl Grey, yummy
Changed the taste – I have been buying Earl grey for over 20 years and now they have changed the taste. It tastes like Aldi Earl grey. Now I don’t like the new taste. Why have they changed the taste!! Show details
Taste has changed ? – I always bought Twinnings Earl Grey and loved it.But what has happened to it? The tea is like Dust and Tasteless.?? You have lost me to T2 Earl Grey is amazing. Show details
