Poor Reliability and Hopeless Battery life – Had to return to Uniden after about 6 months because it stopped working. Now the battery has stopped working after about a year and a half, last about an hour once taken off charge, and getting shorter and shorter. Not what i was expecting for the price. Show details
Doesn’t turn screen on when my baby cries – I was gifted this unit at my baby shower and I always thought it was strange how the screen wouldn’t come on when my baby cries but thought it was my settings being incorrect but I’m sure it’s the monitor not working correctly. I can hear him cry so I then press the button to check on him and then I can hear him and see him on the monitor.… Read more
Shouldn’t it come on automatically when he is crying? It’s been like this since I set it up and don’t want to waste money buying a new one.

Absoloutely horrified at what could have been. I use this monitor mostly at night for my 3 kids and I woke up to find it nearly started a fire. See pics attached. Do not recommend! Too scared to continue using it now. What a waste of money. Show details

Very Disappointing – Battery life disappears within months of using it. We had to get a replacement as the battery stopped working. The new unit did the same thing. The alarm to let you know if the room was too hot or cold based on your entry stopped working in a couple of months. We sent the unit back twice to get fixed. 3 years later and the unit has completely… Read more
stopped working. We wanted to buy newer uniden product and asked Uniden if they would provide any sort of compensation/credit since our experience with not one but two devices was so terrible and inconsistent however they declined. Disappointing response.
I gave up trying to connect it to my phone so we just used the portable monitor which always had to be plugged in.
Good points were it was easy to get setup for regular use. Screen was reasonably clear in night mode.
Overall considering we only have one child it was a very poor experience and would've expected better quality in this day and age of electronics. And also better customer service/retention.
Uniden did contact me once I posted this review. And offered to replace the camera unit only for $100 which I did do. I feel like they should have just replaced it however its cheaper than buying a whole new unit. It seems to be working ok however its only been a month.

Recommend! – This is a great monitor! Great range and quality of image/ sound and great phone app that links. The only negative is battery. Don’t know why people are saying it’s bad Show details
Great baby monitor – The monitor is easy to use, the pan and tilt feature also works from the mobile app. Even if you accidentally turn the hand held monitor on mute it still beeps when it senses bub move or make a sound. It has the ability to play music, utilise a talk back feature and has a nigh light. The night vision video footage is clear.\ We have only owned… Read more
the product for 5 months so i am unable to speak to the issues some other reviewers have spoken about. I do not like that if someone is logged in watching bub via the app that the monitor does not play sound or beep if bub moves. We have provided access to the footage for the grand parents and if one of them is logged in watching bub when they start to wake up we miss the alerts unless we happen to look at the screen.
Amazing but with some flaws – I haven't found many reviews on this product and I have had it a while so thought I would review it. It has some great qualities and some flaws: Pros: - You can zoom in and out and move the camera around all from the parent unit. - Good day and night vision on the camera - very easy to see baby - Has very good coverage. I can be out at the… Read more
washing line on the other side of the house with no issues.
- You can purchase extra cameras and view them at the same time.
- It shows the temperature and can alert you when it drops below a certain temp
Flaws:
- There is a red light that comes from the camera and can distract baby a little bit.
- Have had issues with intermittent static however the retailer couldn't find what caused the issue.
- You can plug it in to the internet to view remotely from your phone however it only works when the parent monitor is on the base. (I have also heard people can hack into baby monitors when connected to the internet)
- The battery only lasts 3-4 hours on the parent monitor when not plugged into the base.
- It is easy to accidentally knock the music button on the side which plays very loudly through the camera and has woken baby on several occasions - have turned the volume right down on the camera.
Despite the flaws it is a brilliant camera and would definitely recommend to anyone purchasing a baby monitor.

Uniden BW5151R camera and monitor – Not worth the money and Uniden customer service is poor. Two cameras failed within a year of purchase, now the monitor no longer works and it is only two years old. This is not a cheap product, it was one of the more expensive baby monitors on the market advertising great features and I expected much, much more for the price I paid. The first time… Read more
this happened I submitted a request for a refund, it was rejected and instead I was asked to send the camera and monitor in for repair, at my own expense. They said turn over was 5-10 working days, it took much longer. It was a fault with the camera and it was replaced. I thought this was an isolated case but after this happened a second time I realised its obviously a fault with this make and model. Again when I asked for a refund it was rejected and I was asked to call for further assistance and then I was asked to email and not getting anywhere, it was only when I told the person I was corresponding with that I have had enough, that I am going to buy another product and I will be leaving an honest review that he said he will forward my case onto head office to see what they can do. I don't want anyone else buying this product and having to deal with these issues when there are fair better products on the market.
Complete rort – Within months the battery dies, to the point where it lasts a matter of seconds unplugged. Effectively becomes an AC powered device, which I question the safety of given it still has to run via the battery. With a useless 12 month warranty, this device was more useful in the bin. Never again Uniden.
Battery life not good – Battery goes flat within 1 hour of been off dock. I'm going on 3 years of having it and it has to be replaced. Lucky for it to last 10 minutes when not on dock. Have another baby due and looks like ill have to replace the whole thing instead of just buying an additional camera. Will look at other brands now and something that is more durable and long lasting.

The worst battery life - useless warranty – I regret purchasing this product. The features are great BUT the battery only lasts 1 hour off the dock before going flat. I contacted Uniden as it was still in warranty at the time and was told they could replace the battery but I would need to send it to them for repair. If it wasn't an essential device this would not have been a problem. If I… Read more
was able to be without a monitor for an unknown period of time while it was being repaired, then why would I need one at all? We see the advertising of these products suggesting that baby is safer with the use of a baby monitor and it is impressed on expecting parents that monitors are essential, so the thought of having to be without mine was out of the question.

Pointless – The features on this baby monitor are great but are pointless when the monitor itself keeps showing a black screen with an 'out of range' message. Even if I'm standing right at the nursery room door Show details

Terrible battery life – It's great for the first couple of months then you will find it just needs to live on it's charger. Battery life is atrocious. Apart from the battery issue, it is a good unit. into their repair centre for them to replace the battery (so around $100!). Another option is for them to post you a battery for $45 as a DIY option which they don't recommend. Buyer beware. Doesn't meet the advertised battery life from day 1.

Don't buy this – Worst monitor ever. Terrible picture, grainy and flashed out. And the charger now doesn't work after 8 months of use. I have emailed the company and no reply, I also tried to call but was waiting on hold until I gave up. Terrible in every way. What a waste of money! Please buy a different make, my first was Motorola, which was FAR better, but it… Read more
didn't have the option fir 2 cameras. There are other options though, so please stay away from this make and company. Do not recommend. Terrible product and no customer service.
Terrible battery life and charger doesn’t connect well – Purchased for first bub in 2020 as recommended by baby store and whilst it’s clear for viewing the monitor doesn’t charge! As soon as you take it off the dock, after an over night charge, it’s not charged! And whatever is charged doesn’t last. Also, the connection with the charger doesn’t connect. You have to maneuver it to try and get it connected. Frustrating! Show details

Battery is horrible – The battery is shocking. I have to leave it on change all the time because within 10min of taking it off it starts flashing low battery and goes flat! Paid alot of money and now its out of warranty anyway wont ever be recommending such a shame

Terrible reception – The monitor has a very clear picture.. for the 'Out of range' message that is constantly displayed. It will pick up the signal if you are standing at the door of the nursery. BW150R - misleading product - not a baby monitor at all – I bought two of these yesterday because it was labelled as a "smart baby monitor" and had the other feature that I was looking for which was to be able to talk to my kids through it. Once I set it up, I realised that the camera sends alerts to your phone, however it does not automatically let you hear or see your child when noise or motion is… Read more
detected. You have to open the app up. If you are asleep, you are likely to miss the notification because it's one ding that sounds like many other notifications. This is not helpful to parents who want sleep but also peace of mind that if their baby cries they will hear it - without having to check every single notification on their phone.
I considered setting it to an iPad so I could keep the app open so I could hear my children, however as soon as the device (phone or iPad) goes into standby it loses connection with the app.
This is NOT a baby monitor at all. This is an "indoor camera with some baby monitor features but not including the most important one".

Piece of S*#@ – Worked fine for a month. Then stopped connecting to the camera and constantly dropping out. Now there is no sound from the monitor so I can't hear my child or anything for that matter. The app is even worse. Let's hope warranty covers this piece of crap. Show details

TERRIBLE!!!! Don’t waste your money – We bought this monitor about 18 months ago and it’s been terrible from the get go. Several times I found Our baby was screaming and it didn’t pick up the sound. Piece of crap – Easy enough to set up. Picture was of a good quality, when it wasn’t breaking up. Then it stopped working altogether. This is after 1 day. Haven’t even had a chance to try it for the reason it was bought for!!! Poor signal strength, even in the same room. Take my advice, buy something else!!! Show details

Terrible battery life – I havent even had our monitor for 12 months and since the beginning the battery life has been terrible. It will not last more than 2 hours without going dead. I wouldn’t recommend this monitor to anyone Show details
Terrible – Picture quality is good with nice wide angle. Monitor isn't reliable, often disconnects and has to be setup again from scratch. Pairing the device is an absolute nightmare, often doesn't work. And if the device disconnects emits a flashing light guaranteed to wake baby. The orb design makes it difficult for mounting and the usb connection being heavy tends to drag the device one way or another.
Good picture but that’s where it stops – The picture quality is good but that where is stops. This baby monitor is not even worth 1 star. Not happy with this product or the Uniden Customer Service at all. Battery life has been terrible as is the signal and the sound now no longer works. Would not recommend to anyone and will not be purchasing any Uniden products in the future. Show details

Terrible! No signal unless in the same room! – Terrible baby monitor, we bought a few months ago whilst I was pregnant and have only just started using it now. It has no signal 2 bedrooms away. than that there is no signal and it is useless! We are in a small 3 bedroom cottage with plasterboard walls, I would find it understandable if we were in a brick 2 storey or a very large home but we are not! How is this product even produced and sold? If I wanted to sit in the room with the baby monitor, I wouldn’t exactly need to spend the money on a monitor now would I?
Definitely not worth the money – Purchased two years ago and have had a very disappointing experience. The app has never worked, the monitor has switched on and off, the battery life is down to 30seconds. For a unit that costs around 300 it is terrible. I contacted uniden in regards to the battery and they were no help at all. Would not recommend at all and will be avoiding uniden anything in the future. Show details
Not as bad as everyone says but there are better options for the money – I had the BW3451R for one year so I had plenty of time to get to know the pros and cons. I have since moved to the equivalent vtech RM5762 so both reviews are written with the other in mind. Thoughts below in no particular order; Battery: The battery life is OK if you let it go into power save mode when baby is not moving or crying. I was still… Read more
getting 4-5h even after a year of daily use. Charging: It uses a standard USB mini-b plug. We bought extra charger cables off eBay for $2 each so we could have the unit on charge in the living room or kitchen etc. The down side is that the port is on the bottom so you need a right angle plug if you want it to sit up. You could buy multiple caddies but they are $50 each. Picture: Both day and night mode are pretty good but not competitive with more modern 1080p models. Also one super annoying issue was that there is no way to turn off the screen once it detect sound or movement. You have to wait 2min for it to timeout. This is annoying when you are trying to sleep and the screen came on because bubs coughed. Range: I had no issue using it up to about 20m through walls etc. I suspect most people complaining either didn't realise that there is an antenna that can be extended or they have metal sarking in their walls which is blocking the signal. I would often take it out the front of the house to wash the car while bubs was in the back bedroom sleeping. Noise LEDs: This is one of the nice features. You can turn off the sound but look at the LEDs to see if baby is crying. Our bubs would often cry for about 5min when put to bed but then would settle. So it was great if we were watching TV so we could monitor how she was going via the lights. App: The problem is since the unit isn't WiFi, the monitor unit has to be plugged into the caddy and the caddy needs to be connected to your home network via ethernet cable. This is a real problem the only way the app could be useful is if you are willing to not use the monitor and have it permanently docked next to your internet modem. Warranty: One downside of the mini-B plug is that they are known to fail with regular use. After just over a year of being connected multiple times per day the port died and we couldn't charge anymore. We had no issue getting a refund/exchange from Baby Bunting even though it was technically out of warranty by a couple of weeks. I think this unit is OK but once you have used something better, the many little foibles of the BW3451R will stop you from going back.
Worst monitor on the market!! – I purchased a Uniden BW3451R 4.3” Digital Wireless Baby Video Monitor 18 months ago from JBHIFI in Melbourne. I am extremely disappointing with the product. station to keep it on charge to use it. Now I just realised the talk-back sound feature is not functioning which was working from the start. I was not going to worry about all this and just live with it but now I have a baby due in June this year. What am I supposed to do?? Go out and spend another $350 to purchase a new one? Or do I try tell my pregnant wife that we don't need a monitor? Now that we are both unemployed due to the corona virus pandemic. I am stuck. Thankyou very much for making such a useless product.

Terrible – I would give ZERO stars if I could! We have just installed unit and when trying it out as soon as I leave baby's room it drops out (out of range) the walls aren't brick nor concrete. bedroom as it won't work. Can't believe I wasted so much money on this crap piece of technology. Please, if you're thinking of purchasing this product DON'T DO IT!
Great picture quality. Sound is pathetic – Great picture quality but the sound is pathetic. I can hear my son breathing but can not hear him calling. I can't understand the technology. Is the monitor in sleep mode and wakes from a sudden sound but we have missed the initial call. Will the sound only work for a continual cry? Sound is at maximum for camera and monitor. Show details
Do not buy! – I thought this was a good monitor but within 12 months of owning it the monitor stopped working. Customer support were good, I sent it back to them and they sent me brand new replacement monitor. However, the replacement monitor has now stopped working also. My child is only 20 months so I've had two monitors just completely stop working in less than 2 years.
Was going great but 8 months in and issues have arrived – Monitor was working well until 8 month mark. Now is not sensing baby crying at night and lighting up like it previously had. Old technology features that shouldn't still be sold – Terrible battery life, terrible functions and stupid features. Don't waste your money on this ancient piece of crap. One camera has already broken with no vision. The battery last not even 4hours so its pointless and the quality and features of this product would have been acceptable around 10-15 years ago.
