Fantastic product – I have had this phone for about five years and have never had a problem (other than forgetting to return the handsets to be recharged). The reception is excellent throughout our double story house and garage and I do not experience any interference. I have other Uniden communication equipment and find them quality products.  Show details

Crackling sound – Phone looked good for the price. Had it one month and developed a crackling noise on loud speaker, message record & playback and handset. Annoying when you cannot playback customers messages.  Show details

Very Basic, Subject Quality and Feature Poor, but Ok for the Price – For the price point, the unit offers pretty good value, but don't expect much more then the Basics. The rubber feel of the dialing keypad is good under thumb and back lit, the speakers are loud and good Audio Quality, but thats about where it ends. My unit had a faulty AC adaptor, but Uniden rushed another one our from support at no charge to… Read more

replace. Battery life is reasonable considering the price point, but the menu's and answering machine are not easy to use and very basic in nature. Plastic's of average quality, but considering the price point ok. If you want a set thats going to last a couple of years and throw in the bin, than these will do, but if you want something that will last I would look else where to another model.

Uniden 1636+3 – Have had many attempts to access recording mode for answering message to no avail - there is just no way it can be accessed and uniden want $35 to speak to their technician!!! I cannot return to store as I did'nt think I would need to keep receipt! very disappointing as I have a Car Cam which works fine  Show details

will not connect to answer the main phone – We have persevered with this phone since June 2016. Repeatably you cannot answer an incoming call from the main base station and have to run to the other phone top answer the call. It just will not answer and we are now going to check out the warranty options. Why should we replace a phone that is only just 6mths old. It is not our fault such a faulty product was allowed to continue to market.  Show details

Worst phone I've had – My original Uniden phone was excellent and never missed a beat, that is until a severe electrical storm surge "took it out". I bought a replacement 1635+3 system and had trouble from the start. One unit, would frequently but intermittantly fail to connect,I thought may it have had bad reception so I repositioned the base station and swapped the… Read more

remote sets around. The problem got worse and all stations suffered the same problem. Eventually realising that it was a system fault. Granted it was a cheap unit, but that should only affect it's features not its realibility.

Tomorrow I am going out to buy a Panasonic set, I am not prepared to suffer another Uniden.

Don't buy it – Bad from the word go. People on the other end cannot hear me and it keeps dropping in and out. Totally useless if it's an emergency. Just rang customer service and their own system is down! Person on the other end was very unhelpful. Save your money. This is very disappointing from uniden.  Show details

works great – nice and clear, trouble free, great price. bought yesterday, charged overnight, started using and was fine from the first call.

Out of range – When the phone rings, I pick it up off cradle and press talk. The message connecting" keeps blinking even after pressing talk. The next message presented is "out of range", then the message is "place handset on cradle". By that time you have missed the call and you hear the callers message being left on the machine. At least it was cheap from D.S. That's life!

Answering system – Pretty disappointed with this system, the answering system does not work,, phones work ok but does not pick up incoming calls, have checked everything went on line in January 2016 (to find out how to fix) I am still waiting for a reply now in April 2016 I received this as a gift so I don't have a receipt

Digital answering system – I can not find in the manual how to adjust the time that the message records. For example a customer has left a message on the Monday 7.30 a.m. but it is recorded as Saturday 10pm. The time on the phone handpiece is correct and I can find where to adjust that if necessary, just the digital answering system is faulty.

Keeps resetting to 2 rings – Reception is good, problem is with the answering machine which defaults back to 2 rings - the 'tollsaver' setting. This is a real pain as it is pretty difficult to reach a phone in 2 rings. Yes, you can easily set the rings back to 9 or 12 but you have already missed the call, and it seems to default every time the power is interrupted, and I have… Read more

to look up how to change it each time. Also, if you can't find a handset despite having 4 of them you can't intercept the call at the base station. Very frustrating, 2 major design flaws in what would otherwise be a good phone.

Seems OK So Far, Easy to use Phone Book. No Good for NBN – Basic 1 + 1 cordless phone system purchased for a reasonable price at Big W. This product was purchased on availability, price and the generally good reputation of Uniden products and devices, as well as the need for a replacement unit in a hurry. Our original cordless phone, a Panasonic was excellent but when one key pad wore out it was replaced… Read more

by a Telstra branded unit from JB Hi Fi, which had a lot of problems and became unusable.

The best comment about this new cordless phone is that it is very satisfactory. The sound quality speaker or earpiece is OK but only just. The ring tone is good. It appears to be generally well made and works as intended.

Like most of these devices the programming and set-up can be a little bit tricky, the instruction book is very basic.

I also had to get a special adaptor to get it to plug into our existing (old style) Telstra socket.

EDIT. Come November 2018 this device became unusable. We attempted to replace it with a standard Telsra Telephone, it too was unusable. Voice was breaking up in either direction and NBN modem dropping out. In desperation (A family bereavement had just occurred) I asked my daughter to go to the nearest retailer, this happened to be JB Hi Fi and just buy another phone. The sales assistant at JB suggested that this was happening because we are now on NBN (yes) and it was necessary to get an NBN Compliant Phone. Problem is now solved. This was yet another NBN issue that customers have not been told about.

Not happy! Returned the product – I had to return the phones because only 2 out of 4 handsets worked. The others didn't. The message: "Place handset on base" kept appearing on the screen but the handset WAS placed on the base. The other message that would appear was that the base was too far from the primary base, so apparently it was out of reach. However, I tried them one next to the other and the same sign appeared. Faulty or bodgy phone!

I have been using Uniden forever until I bought the Dect 1635+3 – It cuts out when I am talking, sometimes the sound goes so low it is hard to hear even with the speakers on, sometimes crackles, sometimes still ringing when you pick it up and have to run to another phone not impressed I I was blaming the NBN connection now I am not so sure. Luckily I kept my old Uniden much more solid and easier to put in the holder. Bring back quality please.

Totaly Unreliable – Was ok for first 12 months. In recent months, one handset continually just drops out several times during calls so we just don't use it anymore; the other handset has intermittent crackle which interrupts conversations; sometimes the phone keeps ringing even though you have lifted and answered the handset. New phone coming up and it won't be a Uniden

Good for the first 12 months and then rubbish – I have been having problems with the blinking light on all 4 handsets when there are no messages and have repeatedly ask for advice on there website to see if there is a solution and all I get back is deathly silence. I have given up and will never buy another one.

Absolute rubbish – This is the second one in 3 months and it is absolute rubbish. My callers complain that my voice is fading 'in and out' which was happening with the previous one that's why it was replaced! Have to take it back to JB Hifi AGAIN. Will definitely refuse to have it replaced with the same brand.

Brand new wont work – Charged up, connected to phone line . Won't take incoming calls -callers get engaged tone. No dial tone out. Reconnect old phone and all works fine. Old phone is a Panasonic KX model portable phone. Can't see the problem being with phone line. Does anyone have any ideas what problem could be?

Poor support, too flimsy, no troubleshooter – Seemed great for a couple of months, but then stopped working (would not dial a number from either handset even though the dial tone was present, and dropped incoming calls) So, go to the Uniden website, no customer support, no forum, no FAQ's. Did not keep the receipt (stuff up between me and my wife) so $150 down the drain. Not impressed!!!!

Nice phone – Have had this phone for a few months. Nice to use, I like the answering machine and hands free. Overall, very satisfied as it is well priced. Would recommend it to anyone that needs a good easy to use phone. Also, it looks good and easy to install. Volume is good as well.

Second time around, same problem – We recently returned a Uniden DECT 1635 as it kept telling us we were "out of range", even when standing right next to the base. Also, we would pick up the phone to answer a call, press "talk" to answer, and the phone would just keep ringing. Very frustrating. Also had lots of static problems, callers complaining that they couldn't hear us if we… Read more

moved around the house. So, returned it, got a brand new one, and three days in we are experiencing the same old problems. I am just about to return this one again to Harvey Norman and get a totally different brand. I don't really fancy being taken for a fool three times.

Works well, good price – I bought this to replace my older Uniden cordless phone as I wanted one with a speakerphone in the handset. (Special note to Optus: Your 30 minute+ waiting times is the reason) Works really well, very clear, answering machine is easy to use and configure. Has a handset to handset intercom, if you have more than one you can select which one to… Read more

page or just page all.

I was surprised that the power supply was exactly the same as my older phone, but still its a great design and takes minimal space in a powerboard or wall socket.

Has a great feature where it can use power from the handset battery to make a call in case of a power failure. I haven't used it yet, but it fixes the biggest flaw in cordless phones where you can't make a call without power.

Stored numbers are easy to input and only needs to be done on one handset. The phone book is shared in the system.

It was a bargain when I got it, just $54. Recommended.

Better than I had hoped for – I got the +4 package for the same price ($88 Dick Smith Feb 2015) as the +3 so we now have the house pretty well covered. All we want is an answering service (default setting) and Call/Answer basic facility, but clear tone and loud ring level. We get all that and although I agree the display text is too small it is not something we need very… Read more

often.

It operates from the house down to the shed (colourbond cladding) about 40 metres perfectly.. The keys are large enough for ageing fingers as are the key labelling.

Only had it 2 months but no problems at all. The setting up was easy to read and perform.

Does what it says it should – It's a bit complicated to figure out but once you work through all the details, it is a perfectly okay phone

Don't work in power blackouts – I specifically bought a set for me and one for my father in case of power blackouts. Today was the first time we got to test them during a power outage and they were a big failure.

Screen too small – Bought this phone to replacement a Panasonic cordless phone that we had had for at least five years. Well, the Uniden 1635 is a pain. The handpiece is fine except for the fact that it is almost impossible to read the display due to its size, the shape of the letters and number as well as the brightness and contrast of the screen. The sound from the handpiece and the message bank is fine.

Good phone, good price – Bought this for $64.95 in Dec 2013 but now the 6V power adapter for the base station has stopped working. I bought another on ebay for $20 but if it was the more common 9V one it would have only been $15. The phone itself has been great though

Improved technology – Mains fail safe if a charged hand set is on the base station. All handsets are equal and part of the base so programing is simplified along with intercom and shared call usage. Privacy can still be activated for a call and this self resets at call end. WiFi tolerant and sympathetic. My ADSL Modem is a bit faster now. The handsets feel a… Read more
