Love the phonebook download function
Being able to download the contact numbers from our mobiles was the key feature in deciding to buy this phone. Plus our ancient old Uniden was getting crackly with age and unreliable.
The manager and I are very happy with the 8355 thus far. We don't need the mobile interconnectability (seems complicated to me) so I disconnected the Bluetooth pairing once we had the phonebooks downloaded. The phone seems very clear and easy to use.
My main complaint (hence 4 stars) is the very limited and polyphonic ringtones. Even our now retired model offered Beethoven's Ninth (which we assigned to family members). With all this in-built tech, how hard would it be to offer more selections?

It's a dud
This phone has all sorts of bells and whistles but fails on the most basic functions - ie it is a cordless phone for home use. I wanted a phone that had a) long range - tick b) answering machine - tick except it requires a university degree to work it out and c) took headphones - NO!. Well, the box says it does, but the Uniden will only take one specific headphone because it uses a smaller plug (2.5) than every other telephonic device in existence, so you can't buy better quality headsets if you are hard of hearing. The headphone it uses had o...nly one earpiece. I only discovered this when my old headset started dying and I needed a replacement. As other reviewers have said, the red charging light flashes all the time and it seems impossible to manage the number of rings before pickup. It also has limited ring tones. This phone has been a waste of money. The only good thing is that it has forced me to use my mobile more often. At least I can use another better quality headset. Don't buy this phone
Every Caller is Unknown and Hangs up
New unit bought due to extra handsets. Set up to Telstra NBN modem, all incoming
calls receive the Voice Alert Unknown Caller and hangs up.
Thought this unit would be good for my aging father due to ability to have a 12 ring pickup
and Message Recording but is currently Useless. Uniden Service 1300 number may have been useful
on Weekends but alas no one home
Flashing charge LED
Bought 8355+1 yesterday. It works well but charge LED flashes. Tried unplugging which works but comes back straight away. Just got NBN . I think that has caused it. Didn't flash before NBN

- XDECT 8355 +2
- Verified purchase
Our old Uniden DSS2475 must have lasted well over ten years until I dropped a handset one too many times. It provided all the facilities we required, including a working handset in our shed which is about 40m from the base station. Replacing it with the XDECT 8335 gave satisfactory results until we had a spot of rain. The shed handset dropped out and, crucially, did not reconnect to the base station when the weather cleared. I had to remove and replace the battery to force it to reconnect and have had to do so many times since. The system has lots of bells and whistles which we don't need but fails to perform its core function as an "extended long range" phone system.
Great little spare handset
I am extremely happy with this because I received this as an extra with the Uniden XDECT 8355+1 so I'll be very happy using it in my lounge room when I move into my unit in June 2020.
Purchased in April 2020.
Great little cordless smart phone
I am extremely happy with this because I can link it to my iPhone via bluetooth and charge my iPhone and my iPad via the USB Charging Port so I don't need any wall chargers also I can import my Phonebook from my iPhone as well so I'll be very happy using it when I move into my unit in June 2020.
Bluetooth Connection Useless
I have paired my mobile... connection fails.. I continually repeat the pairing... shortly pairing fails Uniden phone cannot find mobile... Mobile phone has Uniden listed in Bluetooth connected devices. Sometimes disconnecting Uniden power for a few minutes corrects problem... this Bluetooth connection in a real failure...
Cannot get message service & extended ring time to work
I am a Telstra NBN customer with a home phone/internet. I bought this phone for it's message bank & ability to extend ring time. Despite 3 calls to Uniden & 3 calls to Telstra I can't get it to work properly. Uniden kept saying I have to cancel Telstra message services which I have tried to do ny phone ing and on line. After researching Telstra site it says "message bank on nbn cannot be cancelled". So I will never be able to get the message bank on Uniden to work. I am returning fro a full refund.
Unreliable - Would not buy again nor recommend
I bought this phone because it has bluetooth capability to my mobile phone ,about 4 months ago. The bluetooth keeps dropping out even whilst on a phone call. Sometimes I need to switch off the phone base from the power, restart my mobile and wait for it all to sync again. This takes a good 5 minutes if not longer- not great if you want to make a phone call in a hurry! The worst part is when it drops out during a phone call especially if have just rung a call centre or the like! You will never get back to the same person and have to go throug...h the whole conversation AGAIN! Also, one of my cradle chargers have stopped charging. Very poor quality for Uniden and most disappointing especially as this is not a cheap phone. I have bought many uniden phones in the past - I should have realised to stay clear of them - if they were good quality then i wouldn't be replacing them so frequently. You have definitely lost a long standing customer - I have finally woken up!
Call Block Pro is not what you'd hope.
We bought this phone for the Call Block PRO. But the scammers programatically change the number they call from as fast as you block the last one. It seems there is no way to 100% prevent these calls. The Uniden Call Block PRO might temporarily slow nuisance calls down but it won't stop them.
CID time changes for the Caller ID time.
How does the phone identify the correct time of an incoming call. When I ring the phone it gives a random time, not the actual time of the CID. Is there a setting that needs to change?

we recently purchased this phone because it had the call blocking feature which has proved to be brilliant. Our old Telstra phone wasn't able to block calls and we were being inundated with nuisance calls and we had to resort to not answering the phone which was a pain. But since purchasing this Uniden 8355 + 3 and being able to block calls our lives have gone back to being peaceful. I did have to call Uniden technical assistance to explain a small feature and they were extremely helpful and sorted out the problem straight away.
Great phones ready for NBN
We are about to change over to the NBN and I found that my old Telstra phones won't be any good with VOIP. We purchased these phones in advance and I have them working on the old system until we change. So many great features, Mobile, Bluetooth, USB charging port, amazing product.
PHONES THAT HAVE OUT OF THIS WORLD RANGE AND RELIABILITY
I have had Uniden phones for many years and had to buy a new set when my house got hit by lightning last year and replaced them with a 4 handset Uniden that had a Water Proof handset included. They work almost 500 m up the road from my house and as I have acreage this is really useful and I don't have to worry if it gets wet from the rain. they charge really quickly and have great reception. The answering machine is reliable and I love all the features (haven't worked out all of them yet). Great phones was worth paying $200 for them.
Answer to problems
After nearly 6 months of trying every tip & suggestion posted here + phoning our provider I was still unable to get rid of the red flashing light & envelope until yesterday, again phoned provider twice, then uniden once, then our provider again. 1st I learned that voicemail which is on these phones is actually activated by NBN as part of the changeover plan (it is not your provider) & is at no cost to the individual person. I sincerely hope the steps that I needed to take will help others with the same problem. Firstly (if you don't have your l...egitimate pin number your provider will tell you what it is so you need to have that first) then set up your voicemail by dialing 125101 & follow the prompts, you can then listen to & delete those messages, then the little envelope will disappear & the light will stop flashing, obviously it will start again when you receive another message then just dial 101 to answer it. All of the other suggested methods that I have tried/followed in the past (for the odd ones that worked) they only worked for 20-30 minutes before returning to the same problems, however I do thank everyone for their suggestions. jojo

Worked for 1 week now no power. Useless
Bought it. Set it up. Worked well for a week. Unit now has no power no matter where I plug it in. Doesn’t work at all now Don’t know why.
Purchased in May 2019 for A$208.00.
Bought 8355 + 3 today after researching phones on the internet last night and already set up and working. After reading several reviews was expecting a bit of trouble setting up but was very pleased and surprised how easy it was just followed clear directions in manual. Love how easy to download numbers from mobile and then copy to other phone book and allocate to speed dials just needed a bit of patience. My old phone cut coverage just outside back door but this right to end of long garden with full bars. Fantastic now I can hear and answer my...mobile anywhere before unless in same room or close couldn’t hear it. Can’t think of any negatives good on you Uniden had my other Uniden for about 20 yrs and have been very happy with it hoping for same result.
lacks basic function but has bells and whistles!
Bought this yesterday after much research after having the same Uniden phone for over a decade!! Time to upgrade or so I thought!! Loved all the blue tooth stuff and call blocking feature which I thought would get used a lot. However, during the setup, I was disappointed to read that the voice messaging service works only with landline calls! I couldn't believe such a basic function was missing. Given that my old Uniden takes landline and mobile, no issue. And that the majority of calls today come from mobiles this makes the voice messaging ser...vice redundant!! Even more annoying nowhere does it warn you about this lack of basic feature before you buy it. Not on the box not on the blurb on the website. It's not until you get it home and have spent some time working through the set up that you turn the page in the manual and only there does it say that the messaging works only with landlines. My heart sank. Very disappointed with the waste of time, energy and money. Tomorrow I will be returning it to HN and asking for a refund as the phone fails to deliver on a very basic function. What use is Bluetooth if you can't record incoming calls from mobiles? Have reinstalled my old phone for now. Kerry Amor Golden Square
Far From Easy to Use
I have had system 14 months. I have used Uniden for many years. I saw a reviewer write of the XDECT "Easy to set up & understand functions. Read the manual a couple of times though. Sound quality is very good and display screens are easy to read..."
That's one person's experience. Mine was distinctly different.
Even keeping the manual on my computer desktop for reference, it is hard to follow. Too many bugs in the phone system because it is an attempt to do too many things.
I use it with VOIP. But that is not the source of the errors.

Questions & Answers
How do you keep phone numbers in your uniden handset that you have transferred by blue tooth from your mobile without keeping the mobile paired to the uniden?
Please send through an email to our customer service team on firstname.lastname@example.org who will be able to assist you further.
Once paired with the mobile, use 'Download PB' to download the contacts to the Uniden.
Once downloaded, the mobile can be un-paired.
(If required, the downloaded PB can be deleted and re-installed at any time.)
Contacts downloaded from (say) 'My Phone' will show up as a sub-library named 'My Phone' under the PhoneBook function. You select this to access any of the contacts that were downloaded.
In my case, we have downloaded both 'His' and 'Her' mobiles. So the PB offers 'His' and 'Her' sub-libraries.
Both mobiles have been disconnected since initial downloads were made, but they are retained in the Uniden. Works pretty well we find.
Note: that if a mobile contact has both a mobile & landline number, the downloaded version will show that contact twice, with the landline under the first and their mobile under the second entry.
I receive a call from a number I want to add to Contacts. I can do this by writing down the number, opening Home and selecting Create New. Is there a short cut to add the number from the Call ID list? (I can't work out the keypad steps to do this, or find Manual instructions, but it should be possible.)
