Idle's fine but starts to die off before the head gets to full throttle when I accelerate, then idle – I've had this whipper Snipper for just over two yrs now. It's started & run really well until about 3 weeks ago. It started & Idled well until I'd accelerate when it would labour & not get up to full throttle & it was about to cut out. I would let go of the throttle & it would go back to idling fine. After asking a shop or two I had a blocked… Read more

Carburetor so I brought a new one for $55 with a gasket. After changing it over it fixed the problem & is accelerating really well & after adjusting the small screw behind where the accelerator cable clips in it idles great. It is now running like new & you can get the Carbuertor on eBay for less than $20 if you can wait a few days. So in finishing, I have never experienced the troubles others have written on here in regards to starting it up. I lock in the throttle & make sure the off switch is in the right place. Then 9-10 pumps of the bubble with the choke upwards on cold start & a few pulls on the cord until it half starts. Then put the choke down to the bottom & usually one pull & it's off & running & now I've taken care of the Carbuertor trouble it's running great again.

No problems – My tanaka got stolen and only place open on Sunday was bunnings so purchased this, used 2 yrs commercially then gave to a mate before any problems. It surely ain't no tanaka or honda but it started and ran every time I needed it to. 1 spark plug in 2 yrs was good going  Show details

Soul destroying – Used it twice. Ridiculously hard to start. When I could finally get it to start, it would cut out after a minute. Never has a piece of equipment been able to make me cry, but this won that award. Now have a battery operated trimmer and I enjoy gardening again. Show details

Its made in China now..... expect disappointment – Terrible to start. very bad whipper head design. I needed to change the Carburettor after 4 uses because it wouldn't start anymore. Bunnings wouldn't look at it for warranty. None of the new attachments fit without buying a separate connector which is impossible to find. Save your money and buy a Stihl or Honda. Show details

10/10 Amazing Machine – This is hands down the best machine I’ve had the pleasure of using. It was purchased by my grandfather over 10 years ago and it’s only recently started slowing down. A quick carby clean and she’s running perfectly again. Whoever says they have too much trouble starting it and blame it on the machine don’t know how to look after it. Show details

17 years old and it is still going – I don't normally write reviews on tools. As they are always throw away items after few years. However the original TT I got since 2007 is still going. There is nothing you can do to kill this thing. It has lasted as long as my marriage and going just as strong. Changed the spark only one and that is it. Absolutely bullet proof. Show details

This Victa Trimmer – Lightweight unit. I dont want to use the extensions. Have other tools for that work. No probs at all after 3 years. I look after my tools. Drain the leftover fuel by running it out. If you dont with chainsaws and blowers as well you will create a problem with seals.. Changed to a bump feed even better and so easy to load the feed. Absolute Crap – From day one it has been a shocking machine to start. Persistent problems. Petrol cap leakage, where Victor admitted the problem and replaced. The head for the edge cutter packed it in. The pull cord assembly packed it in. To date I have spent more on the machine than it cost. Victor was a true blue Aussie product and today it is just a cheap… Read more

crappy import. Very sad to see. I would never buy another Victor product in my life time, and I would suggest no one does. They don't even offer any back up or support let alone try to resolve your problem and admit that this machine has had many issues. They just palm you off.

Absolute Grub of a Machine – I purchased this problematic piece of junk about 2 years ago and have had constant problems with it as soon as I bought it home. I went to return it to Bunnings and the guy said he has tonnes of them to look at and I wouldn’t get an answer for about 6 months. He said I’d be better off taking it to a mower shop. to get this model (TS2226 Tornado) thinking I would be saving myself dramas in the long run but how much of a wood duck was I? I had only just purchased it and hate the fact that I had to take it to a mower shop for them to look at. That should not happen. I never leave negative comments or bad reviews about products but this thing has annoyed me that much that I’m giving it 5 thumbs down. I bought my mother a Victa lawn mower so I can do her yards and that is fantastic but this grub of a machine has turned me off Victa for good. It’s Extremely hard and frustrating to start, on the rare occasion you do get it started it runs for a while and as soon as you want to start cutting it stops and won’t start again. Won’t idle for long without quitting. Starter housing stem broke after 2nd use. Ive always used fresh fuel but Removed the carby to See if it was junked up Used New fuel new plugs whatever it doesn’t matter. Tried to get the edger attachment for it which said it was compatible but found I had to purchase an extra adapter piece for that shaft after it wouldn’t connect because of a design change. Was going to buy Victa mower but after the problems with this dirt weak line trimmer I ended up purchasing a Rover Mower instead. The times I’ve been swearing at it and giving it time out compared to successfully using this trimmer is about the same as it’s fuel ratio 25:1. After reading up on this machine I am not alone by the sounds of it.

Next stop is the mower shop to see if they will trade it otherwise it’s going in the bin.

I could complain to Victa but I’ve left it too late. I’ll save myself the headache.

Never again Victa.

Hard to start, unreliable – The manual says it will start after pulling the cord 3 times. It takes like 20 times. Followed the instructions to a T. And for some reason today, while trimming my lawn, the engine just dies when I press the throttle. Was working fine and all of a sudden this happens. Came online to find out what could potentially be the problem and now I see these reviews here. Should have checked....  Show details

Waste of money – It takes for ever to get started, runs extremely hot and then wont start again . The solid spool head is useless as it constantly breaks the cord. I love mine – Had mine since 2015, and have had no problems, starts well runs well and cuts any length grass easily. I mainly bought it to replace my useless bump line trimmer. I also purchased the attachable edger, another great unit. One new spark plug in three years, I recon is pretty good. Must admit, I have to remember not to relax my arm near engine - runs hot, but is good.  Show details

Piece of Crap – Bought new at Bunnings always hard to start and never starts when hot and stops regularly, Fuel cap leaks, replaced the carby and plug and now replacing the coil and it hasn't done hardly any work. Sad to see Victa is now the worst – totally agree. I had to get the edges done quickly over the weekend but couldn't get it started (only a couple of years old) then when I finally got the thing working, I had no time left. It is total garbage and agree with the weird cutting angle thing, overheating and it takes chunks out of the lawn. I was talked into it by a Bunnings employee,… Read more

btw. Two things I now get. No more Victa in my shed and won't be buying equipment like this from Bunnings. It's a shame from this iconic Aussie (or former Aussie, I'm assuming) brand.

CAN live without it! – We bought the trimmer a couple of months ago, I have used it several times to see if I could get use to it, I can't, It is virtually useless for cutting grass, Using it "Flat" is a waste of time and effort...Angle it to the right and it just "lays" the grass down, Angle it to the left and it digs great gouges out of the lawn down to the soil.. heat of the engine on your arm makes it very uncomfortable to use for any length time.

The plus's are, the ease of installing a new cutting line, now all I have to do is find a line that will actually cut!..

The overall quality is good, and is very easy to start.. It fails miserably to do the job we bought it for though..

Buying something because of it's "Name" didn't work this time..

Terrible service – I bought the tts2226 15 months ago thinking victa can't go wrong well it was perfect until it broke the whole gear mechanism stopped and just spun around like a losing a gear or a clutch on a car.took it back to bunnings and I explained what was wrong and that I had a piece of paper with the unit that stated if it was a major defect you could ask… Read more

for refund or a new one. Bunnings did admit it was major and that they had never seen that form before and stated it had to be sent away for assessment . Was told they would get back to me in two days. I didn't here from them and so went back to the store following Friday the lady behind the desk gave me beautiful service and she told me that it takes 10 days. She then called the repairer who was local victa must contract out to mower repairers near there stores . She explained to me again that it would be ready Monday being 10 days then the phone rings and repairer said it could be picked up in an hour . I was then asked do I want to go direct or I could pick it up Saturday morning I said I would go pick it up as it was walking distance to the store . I then rang the repairer and asked if they had a new blade for the unit they did they changed it and and I paid 25.00 so far good service . I picked it up I was told that they had replaced all the shaft between the motor and the section where you connect the implements like your tree hedger or In my case the blade grass trimmer as that is all I used it for. I took it home started using it lasted literally a 3 metre run same problem again took it back to the repairer Saturday morning and said picked this up yesterday has exactly same problem he started it and said it is not connected. I said I know it disengages and stops working I said may be the other pin on the opposite side is gone as well he said no I did the work on this I changed it I said oh well it is not working he gave me a look like I don't know I left not feeling comfortable and they would fix it again . Again a week goes by I turn up on the following Saturday I explained I am here for my trimmer they did not remember me that's fine they see a lot of people they ask for my name find me and am told it is due Monday I said what do you mean he said 10 days I said why he said what do you want us to put you in front of other customers I said yes I waited my 10 days i picked it up it lasted 2 minutes I brought it back so yes I excpect to be first in line as I did all that was asked me the guy behind the computer turns around and said oh your a f wit I start looking around the shop at my 13 year old son who was with me and he said what are you going to throw something at me I said mate just give me the unit I will take it back to bunnings .I said if I wran my business like this I would be broke at the same time he had picked up the phone he then put it on hold and said can you shut the f up as I am on the phone I was stunned that it had even escalated to that we had a few words and He said get the f out and wait outside.I said I will get the f out when you give me the unit he did I was walking out and I heard hey buddy .I stopped and said what he said I was talking to the other guy as I kept going to the same idiot Behind the computer screams out just start it f wit I found it odd I assumed this meant it was fixed so why all the drama I guess some small businesses aren't professional enough to take criticism or do not like being told you did a bad job.Get in the car and my son asked what do we do now dad I said we go to Bunnings and get a refund as I explained that when items go wrong they just esculate so I went back to Bunnings explained what had happen to a lovely man from the mower section he then said we will go over to the mower isle and start it . I thought to my self oh no I am going to look like an idiot now thinking of those lovely parting words that the repairer said to me start it f wit any way he starts it and politely said well it might only disengage when you put in the ground and he then found that the trigger was stuck on full and he could not disengage it l looked at my son and said see this a lesson when things start wrong they end wrong and looked at him and said start it f wit . I then was giving a total refund thanks for nothing victa great repairer and to all you consumers out there I don't believe victa is victa anymore . I have only ever written two reviews in my life so sorry for the length of this. Thanks joe

warranty even though the manufacture date stamped on it was well within the warranty period - apparently the warranty isn't transferable. I had to go back to bunnings with a copy of my EFTPOS statement and they reprinted the receipt (kudos to Bunnings).

Well, after the repair above it worked - until today.

After an hour trying to start it I gave up. It's going out on the hard rubbish collection. What a waste of money. I won't be buying Victa again!

Good reliable unit – Good machine, reliable, the only issue I have had since purchasing the unit and I still have the issue, is the fuel cap leaks. On reading other reviews, everybody has this issue with this model. If you can get a replacement cap, I would recommend buying this model any time. Starts very easy.  Show details

Worst purchase of any product I have ever bought – Had mine for two years and used it maybe twice because all the other times I couldn't start it. This whipper snipper is so hard to start, I just changed fuel and new spark plug used aerostart and tried for 30mins no good. Lucky it's bin day not proud of my actions but it is now in million pieces so you can see my frustrations. Do not buy these line trimmers from bunnings.  Show details

Very very hard to start, hot or cold – When it running, its very powerful and well built but the starting is a show stopper. Reves out very well. But hot or cold the unit is very hard to start any time. I probably get less than half the use i should because i give up trying to start it after 40 to 50 pulls.  Show details

Durable – I have had three trimmers. This is far & away the best. Power, reliable & in my opinion not that hard to start. Too crap – When I purchase domestic grade equipment from Bunnings I expect there to be a certain level of crap. My Masport mower is a bit crap but it's okay, it does the job and is reliable enough. line trimmer my experience.

On start fuel spilt everywhere. I checked connections everywhere, it all seemed solid. It just seems like that's the way it is.

It's a tough start, I mean really tough. By the time I had started it I already suspected I'd be taking it back.

In action the motor seems to struggle, and vibrates much much more than my ancient Stihl fs-44.

The exhaust is positioned in such a way that if you hold the trimmer naturally it blows rather hot air onto the inside of your arm.

The actually cutting.. Well, it's really pretty much hopless, I can't see how anyone could be happy with it's cutting ability. Like I said earlier the motor just seems weak and the trimmer line it comes with doesn't cut well.

So after a round trip around the lawn I bundled it back up and took it back to Bunnings within two hours of purchase.

As I explained to the Bunnings staff(which were helpful and understanding). I expect a certain amount of crap. This line trimmer is just too crap.

Average – Yeah ran alright for a while but then when opening full throttle it does, muffler has now come loose but runs perfectly now, also has an alright exhaust note! The line is fiddly but I do prefer it to bump feed types as they are a pain when they don't work properly!

Carby malfunction, won't honour warranty – Brought 11months ago, ran ok a few times, we have not had much ran so it's spent most of the time in the garage, went to use with new fuel, plug and clean filter, machine fires but dies soon after, took to shop and was told carbie had malfunctioned and was covered under warranty from service Center, once the works was completed, get a call back saying now Briggs won't honour the warranty and I'm up for $80...poor form

Not A Good Purchase – Line too fiddly and time consuming to reload. Too many steps to start the motor. Fuel cap has leaked from soon after purchase and fuel cap seal is distorted beyond use - no spare caps or seals available at Bunnings, where the product was purchased. petty complaint) in the past I have owned much more expensive machines, but for the money I paid today I guess I'm happy with this unit. easy to start, reliable, effective – Very pleased. Most effective when you remove the guard; this enables you to have a wider arc with the trim. Starts easily, very reliable, not too heavy: just right for a big back-yard. Very pleased. Most effective when you remove the guard; this enables you to have a wider arc with the trim.
