I bought a VIP dog roll and when I opened it it was full of liquid and smelled disgusting. It was nowhere near the use by date but it was definitely off. The smell was so bad I couldn't get rid of it despite cleaning the bench top a number of times and spraying glen 20. I took it straight back to Woolworths Inglewood where I had bought it. Rotten smelling – I bought the beef roll today & it was full of water, also the smell is disgusting everything needs to be cleaned asap including hands as they wreaked. I’ve also purchased the lamb roll in the same product today & if it’s the same both will be going in the rubbish bin. Terrible – As a meat manager for 12 and a half years I used to sell these dog rolls prota 3kg and found the product excellent but in the last 3 to 4 months can’t believe the water content when opening the packaging. Once opened two to three days later the product smelt off. Instead of years gone by the consistency was like the old fashion pelony. Now it’s just a meat paste. Shocking – I have used this for years but now it is shocking!!! I have given it the benefit of the doubt 3 rolls later and all shocking smell!! Watery and makes everything in my fridge smell!!! I even tasted it on the grapes in the fridge so obviously had to throw everything out and scrub my fridge and my hands! Will not be buying again!

Prota changed for worse – I have 5 Rottweilers and have bought this product for years. Not any more! It’s gone bad – Having read through all the reveiws… I now know it is not just my local shops too. It went bad awhile back where we buy it also all the same things mentioned in the above posts. Not good, don’t trust it much anymore which is a shame. Our poor doggies, mean the world to many of us and have no one to protect them.

Very poor quality – I am not sure what has happened to the quality of this food. My dogs used to inhale it but now they are reluctant to eat it. Last few times have had clear liquid ooze out when opening. Last night I opened one and thick white rancid liquid oozed out. The roll was slimy and smelt really revolting and off. Why the drastic decline in quality? – 100% agree with previous comments re drastic decline in quality in last couple of months. Also tried different flavours from different shops. All rolls were slimy, liquid came out of package when opened and the smell was terrible on opening. After just one day opened in fridge smelt absolutely rancid and were thrown out. Poor quality – It's little value for a company to say "ring us" to discuss your negative comments, and then when you do all you get is a recorded message. This product was off or contaminated in some way – Longtime user, the last few times the product was off or contaminated in some way. used to be good now smelly and watery – After using protadog dog food for years it appears they have changed their processes or quality control. I have tried two different rolls , green and orange,in the last two weeks. Both types have a watery feel and smell disgusting. My dogs which eat almost anything have refused to eat it.
