Don’t Listen to the negative reviews – Great little charcoal bbq & totally worth the small price. Don’t listen to the people who say that it goes out - They obviously don’t know what they are doing. Cooking with charcoal takes a bit of getting used to. I’ve been grilling and doing long slow 8 hr cooks on this thing with great results for a couple of years now. Super efficient on charcoal and very portable. Show details ·  1

Not a closed grill BBQ – Unfortunately, this is not a closed grill BBQ by any means. Once the lid is on, the coals immediately suffocate and the heat will immediately start declining, regardless of whether the vents are all fully open and regardless of whether there is sufficient airflow going through the vents (I tried using fans to no avail). For some reason, the air… Read more

just does not flow efficiently through the kettle. This means your coals will be dead in about 10-15 minutes. I am not the only one to have this issues, dozens of people have.

Now that you know this, you now know to cook with the lid off, like a standard charcoal grill which is super disappointing, because I love long indirect closed grilling for thick steaks, roasts, fish...etc. Which is why I had purchased this little kettle.

If you want to get better use from your bbq, pay a little more for the Smokey Joe with the bottom vents and ash catcher. I cooked 2 inch steaks indirectly on a mates one for 15-20 minutes then open grilled directly to sear them. They were unbelievable! The side vents on this little one are just hopeless.

I have just purchased the Weber Go-Anywhere grill to replace my Smokey Joe, so watch this space for my review on that.

Very cute sized bbq – The size & portability of the BBQ is very user friendly. However, it seems like it takes a long time to heat up food with the coal as it is so far away from the grill. When you try to cook the food by putting the lid on, the fire just goes out. We tried to use it once but it took so long we ended up taking the food back to cook on the pan in the kitchen. We have yet to use it again. Show details

Love it! – Love my Smokey Joe. We moved from the country to a small city apartment and I missed BBQ's soooo much, the stove top just isn't the same. This is so easy to use for basic snags and burgers and my partner has smoked some amazing meats using this. We only have a very small balcony but Smokey Joe has allowed us to be able to BBQ regardless of living in a small apartment with no back yard.  Show details

Love This BBQ – This completely suits me as I have limited space and I love traditional barbecues. I can get the juiciest most perfectly cooked steaks on this. I just cant see how a gas one could ever come close. I enjoy the routine of getting the charcoal fired up and relaxing with a coldie until the temperature is just right. It is small and packs away neatly when i am done. Top little barbie.  Show details

This is perfect – This product is really too good. It is not a big barbecue, but it doesn't bother to use it lightly with my friends. Others don't know, but it's hard to clean the glass plate, so I buy the glass plate in Daiso and use it and throw it away.^^ I want to use a new one, but it's a secret that it's not broken.  Show details

Great, but expensive – Bought a jumbo joe as a gift and will now buy one for myself. Good construction, small enough to easily move/store/clean, but big enough to do roasts on. Handy that the lid can rest in the handle while cooking as a sort of wind shield. Weber are really the only choice for (decent) charcoal cookers in Australia which I guess is why they are hideously overpriced  Show details

Good for travelling – Having owned the larger 22” one for a long time I wanted to have a smaller one that I could use when grilling just for me and this is perfect. In fact assembly is a breeze took minutes to put together. I’m able to use less charcoal with a little less depth between the charcoal grate and the grillling surface I can get away with 12-16 briquettes… Read more

rather than 25-30 built into a hefty mound and it is small enough and light enough to allow it to be easily transported. The only flaw is the grilling rack doesn’t have any handle to lift it on and off but it is minor.

Pretty good compact size BBQ – Great for two people sized meals, easy enough to carry around. Great smokey flavour on meat, enough space for a decent sized BBQ for a couple. Easy enough to use for the average Joe, just make sure you have e a chimney starter. Cleaning is a pain however, needs a bit of scrubbing  Show details

So portable and easy to use – Had this bbq for a few years and it’s a great size for 2-4 people. It’s also easily transportable and portable as it can easily fit in the boot. We love using charcoal for the taste but other bbqs are hard to clean but the 2 layer trays make it very simple to just put it in the dishwasher.  Show details ·  1

Weber Jumbo Joe – Three months into ownership of the Weber Jumbo Joe and so far it has done every asked of it. Philosophy behind purchase of the Jumbo was we still wanted to be able to cater for 4 of us and maybe 6 in a pinch with roasting but also not have the BBQ sitting outdoors or taking up to much precious shed space. Big ticks on both counts, one review we… Read more ·  1

read stated that large chickens will foul on the lid "excuse the pun" but I have had no such problem and have even roasted 6 kilo beef rolls without problem. When used as an open charcoal BBQ you will take care of a footy team and their friends no worries if you keep it hot and fast.

So far have only used charcoal which is as Weber intended, will do everything the same as a full size kettle. In my opinion if you aren't over catering this little gem will accommodate you and yours with honors.

Compact & TASTY – Bought this a few years ago for the size as we wanted a mini portable charcoal grill. This is great as its small and can still do the job. Webers are amazing if you know how to use them. Make sure you read reviews of how to use and you'll learn so much and its heaps of fun. It's all about experimenting with the BBQ and knowing the limits and your… Read more ·  1

surroundings. Loved it so much we bought a full size Webber Kettle and use that regularly to smoke, BBQ steak, Oysters, Fish, Beef Brisket (Slow Cooked), Beer can Chicken. I've even seen people cook waffles on this. GET ONE.

Excellent – I got this bbq as a christmas present last year. It's one of the best presents i have ever gotten. It is perfect to take to picnics. You get amazing tasting sausages and meat using coal! This thing is such a gem. It's easy to set up, easy to cook with, easy to clean. I like that it is sturdy despite the small size. The size would make it suitable… Read more ·  1
