Westinghouse 496L French Door WQE4900BA

Disappointing performance and awkward layout I recently purchased this unit from Harvey Norman, but unfortunately, it hasn't lived up to expectations. The most prominent issue is an intermittent motor noise—sounding like internal flaps opening and closing—that is loud enough to be heard from other rooms. While the overall capacity is decent, the freezer bins are surprisingly small, making it difficult to store larger items like meat. Additionally, the egg storage is split between the two doors (6 on each side), which is more of a daily inconvenience than a functional design. Between the noise levels and the impractical storage layout, I cannot recommend this model.

Useless and poorly designed ice maker – I always buy Westinghouse because of the fixed ice maker, which I have loved on my previous Westinghouse fridges. I was disappointed to see no fixed ice maker on this model, but there was a removable ice making device provided, so decided to give it a go. Worst designed ice making device anyone could think of, and broke on the second use, as it does not release all of the ice fully, and so you need to apply a high amount of force to get any ice to fall out. Additionally there is no visibility to see the ice tray to know whether or not all of the ice has released and also can’t tell when to stop pouring water in until it is overflowing into the bottom tray, which you then need to remove and drain the water out of before you have a slab of ice in the bottom. The fridge itself is ok, apart from weird squealing every now and then which prompts me to start looking for the cat in distress until I realise it’s the fridge. The freezer section could be better designed to create more ‘useable’ freezer space.
