Extremely disappointed with my Westinghouse WBE5300WC-R. It completely stopped freezing at just 5 years and 9 months old. The same experience as that by another customer: started beeping in the evening, freezer control lights flashing, but I could not find any reason, so switched it off and then switched on after a few minutes. It then refused to… Read more
freeze, but instead, it heated the fridge. I expected at least a 10-year lifespan, especially since my last Westinghouse lasted much longer. Westinghouse really needs to lift their game. After looking into the experiences of others, I think it’s not worth the effort to get it repaired. I've contacted their service team but have already decided to buy a replacement. This brand and its siblings are off my shopping list.
Was very noisy from the start, then died after 25 months – We bought this in December 2019 as our 20+ year old Whirlpool fridge was too small. We loved that you could adjust the shelving heights in the doors and the good sized freezer drawers. It was quite noisy compared to our old beast which was worrying at times because it gave the impression that it might be dying. This came and went randomly. As… Read more
others have described in these reviews, the thing started beeping in the middle of the night, freezer control lights flashing, defrosting and then death.
Customer support was very nice and organised tech who came out that afternoon. Compressor dead, gas leaked and tech put in claim for store credit (don’t believe them if they tell you no warranty after 2 years - compressor has 5 and you still have your Australian Consumer Law rights).
Long story short, this was over 2 weeks ago now and I had contact with Electrolux a week later who said credit was organised with store 2 days after the fridge died, yet no one let me know and the store had no record when I called. My last email query has gone unanswered after a week and the store which supposedly the credit is, went underwater in the floods. Pretty frustrated, really could use a bigger fridge in the current disaster situation in the Northern Rivers.

Noisy all the time – Received our new Westinghouse fridge today after replacing a 30yr old fridge . Fridge is in a wall cavity and all you can here in the kitchen is the constant fan like noise from the fridge . The door is also incredibly hard to open . Terribly disappointed with the purchase Great layout inside though Show details

Two year lifespan – Our Westinghouse Bottom Mount Fridge was working really well for us until it stopped cooling in the fridge section a month outside the 2 year warranty. The service company recommended by the Company could not fix the problem after call out fees, labour and parts. Show details

Fridge stops cooling and freezing after one month of being in use! – We were very happy with the fridge, however, after a month of using this fridge, it has stopped cooling and freezing. We are disappointed since no one has contact us back! Show details

Bought in an emergency and been going gang-busters ever since! – We had a fridge break-down a few days before moving to Victoria and bought this fridge-freezer as the best option available at short notice. It went through 2 moves [ NSW to Vic. and temporary accommodation then into the permanent home] within 6mths. It never blinked. I fail to understand some of the negative comments about the handles, and a few… Read more
other things. At the time of buying I didn't think it was quite what I would have liked, but it had the name and the price was good - and we had to have one! I have been extremely pleased with how it functions, and it's reliability, so far. Our collective experiences of owning white goods is extensive, and I think that we have never experienced any fridge-freezer that has been better, and a few that have been worse! I do the cleaning of it and although the freezer drawers can be a bit awkward until you get to understand exactly how they latch on to the runners, that's as much up to the operator as the design; look carefully, think logically, and it will become obvious. The ice block runners have iced up a bit at times, but we have NEVER had to defrost the unit manually. We have it set to '3-5' for the fridge, and top-dot on 'zone'. The findings are not sufficient in our experience to warrant a 'demerit' from 5 stars. The interior light gives a good viewing of all areas; the shelves are easy to wipe down, or to remove for a wash-clean. I'm very short and it's an ok height for me to reach to the back of the top shelf. The doors self-close if they are left open within a certain distance, and a handy warning beeper lets you know if they haven't closed, anyway. The exterior is easy to wipe down and keep clean. I can't think of any serious negatives - not bad for a unit that I was a bit dubious about because it wasn't quite what I had in mind when we bought it!
Much noisier than I expected – The first fridge delivered was extremely noisy. It was so noisy that it would wake you up at night when the fan & compressor started. We contacted Westinghouse and they sent a technician out who said that after a week it should be less noisy. He arranged for a replacement. We were told that the replacement fridge would decrease in noise over a day… Read more
or two. It been about a week and while quieter than the first fridge its still much noisier than our old fridge. Apart from the noise its works well.
When I attempted to submit this review on the Westinghouse Web Site it was removed. An email was sent to me saying "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!"
Perfect, quiet – Temperature is great I have set on average the coolest temperature is very cool. Love the size and design of the vegetable chill draw and the ice tray is great. Door seals very well however can be a little hard to open immediately after closing. We purchased this fridge as it is quieter than our previous fridge, Show details
Love it – The perfect fridge for us. Freezer compartment on the bottom definitely provides more room than the alternative. We have owned this fridge for 3 months now and have noticed our power bill drop significantly. Very economical to run. Extremely easy to clean with a damp wipe. Haven’t heard it make any noise so quietness a definite bonus. Very happy with purchase for our small family Show details
Great Fridge – Love my new bottom mount fridge.Plenty of room ,adjustable shelves and the freezers drawers are roomy and so much easier to find things than in a top mount. Large crisper with moveable separator. Keeps everything lovely and cool and is a very quiet fridge.Ice making is so easy. Easy to clean and looks good. Show details
Very pleased – I love the flexibility. Drawers and shelves can be arranged easily and many ways to suit one's needs. It is easy to clean, quiet, and efficient. Loads of space. My only complaint..well, not really a complaint, is the crisper. You can set the humidity for veg or fruit. Sounds great but being a single drawer with a sliding divider, it has an… Read more
expectation that one or the other will be in it. Rather useless to most as I believe most families store both on the crisper.
Great Fridge – We purchased this last year in our move to our own place, and I've been very happy with it. Of course new, and under warranty. The freezer has a good climate control, and it is easy to clean. Most fridges are, but this one is also pretty to look at too. I wouldn't be happy without this lovely fridge. It doesn't make loud noises, at night when trying to sleep...and simply works efficiently. Show details
Good quality – Bought this fridge as it was highly recommended to me. I've had it for 7 years as its as good as new, never needed anything replaced or fixed. Temperature is consistent. Quiet fridge. Easy to take the fruit bins out to clean and glass like shelves are easy to remove to wipe down. Exterior is also easy to wipe down and clean. Show details

Pretty good, few snarls – This is pretty good fridge/freezer combo. It runs quite smoothly and quietly, though it can be a little loud when the motor turns over in the dead of night but I sleep upstairs so can't hear it unless I'm actually in the kitchen. I only have 2 gripes: 1) It haven't been able to switch the doors so they open on the other side but I can work… Read more
around that. 2) anything that touches the bottom of the veg crisper freezes. I have lost so many lettuces. I have the fridge on the lowest setting so I don't even know why.
Other than that it's easy to clean, frost free (apart from the veg drawer), and the outside still looks good even through 2 moves. Well done, Mr Fridge.
Spacious fridge – We bought this fridge around 5 months ago, and are very happy with it so far. It is spacious, keeps an even temperature, and is easy to clean. We like having the freezer at the bottom, as this makes the fridge shelves easier to access. The freezer section is OK, but we find the drawers a bit restrictive. It would be good if the freezer could… Read more
also be used without the drawers, as this could make it easier to store some large items.
Also, the drawers for both the freezer and the veggie compartment tend to hit the inside of the fridge door on their way out. This is a minor issue for us, but I would suggest looking at this issue further if your fridge is going to be located in a corner where the fridge door can't open more than 90 degrees. The fridge door has to be opened as wide as it will go in order to fully extend or remove the freezer drawers or veggie drawer. There is also a useless divider in the veggie drawer that cracked, but this doesn't affect use of the drawer.
Other than those little issues, this has been a great fridge so far.
Excellent – Love the freezer on the bottom as I don't have to bend over to reach the fruit and veg. It self defrosts and is easy to clean. Our freezer has two drawers which makes it easy to find what you're looking for. It's reliable, quiet and the temperature is maintained well. We've had it for about three years and are very happy with it. Show details
Great fridge – My old Westinghouse 520L finally stopped after 18 or so years, I did not have any problems with it over all of the time I had it. I was therefore forced to buy a new fridge and I decided to buy another Westinghouse fridge of about the same size. I really liked the Westinghouse 530L's fridge portion at the top and freezer at the bottom, unlike… Read more
the old one.
This new Westinghouse 530L is really great and the upside feature is much easier to live with.
I have an older Westinghouse 420L beside the new one but it is of a conventional type, freezer at the top and fridge on the bottom.
The Westinghouse 530L maintains the temperature very well even during hot summer days, it is set out very well and it is easy to clean and it is very quite.
The fridges are in a large kitchen area that adjoins a family room and there is no noise from the new Westinghouse 530L.
I have decided when and if it fails I will buy another upside down fridge.
Westinghouse 530L a very good buy.
Great Product – We had for a few years now and have not had any trouble as you would expect. its refreshing when a product lasts more than three to five years ( as it should) but it seems things are not built to last. Would definitely buy Westinghouse again, wouldn't look at the others. Show details
Don't underestimate how important easy-to-clean design is! – I thought the Fisher & Paykel looked better quality inside but we could get a larger Westinghouse for the same price and I'm so glad we did. It's so well designed, works perfectly (the quick chill function is great!), and has turned out to be great quality. Sometimes it's not til you get things home and start using them that you realise the… Read more
important things, like cleaning! This design is so good, the glass shelves are really solid yet easy to slide in & out & wipe clean under the tap & the front panel even unclips the crisper drawer so it's so easy to wash (though tip: I lay a sheet of glad wrap on the inside bottom of the drawer making it even easier to keep clean between monthly cleans!). No fiddly grooves or nooks & crannies, it still looks as good as new with a 15-minute clean every month or so.
I also had wanted a fancy stainless steel one, but the cheaper white actually blends in far better with my kitchen anyway, and this one is a nice simple design anyway.
Fridge on top is great! The rest, not so much – Within a couple of months, the temp controls started acting up. Fixer sent out & fixed. Later, the controls weren't as before (took two taps to alter the settings instead of only one) They sent a "fixer" who said it was okay. I hope so, because Master's is gone. Seems to freeze-burn the veg drawer. I hate a door that must be entirely… Read more
open to get to a freezer drawer-- all of the cold gets out. Sub-zero, as a company, managed to get the fridge into drawers-- why can't the rest do it??
Will be careful next time. Westinghouse is out, for me.
PS: my bad luck to finally buy this fridge a month before the idiots at Woolies dump the chain. FFS!

Great fridge! – After doing months of research both on-line and in shops, we decided that the Westinghouse 530 litre "upside down" fridge was the nicest choice. Six months later, I'm pleased to say that that decision hasn't changed. There were other fridges with lots of fancy (and, when we though about it) unnecessary features, but the Westinghouse was a good,… Read more
simple (as in, less to go wrong) design. It is clean and simple in outer design and very straightforward and practical in the way the interior is laid out.
Our original decision to replace our old fridge was lack of freezer space. It was either fact yet buy a new fridge with more freezer space or buy a separate freezer and put it in the laundry. The design of the Westinghouse enabled us to fit it into the existing space as well as giving us lots more accessible freezer room, by virtue of the fact that the freezer is at the bottom, and instead of having shelves, it has drawers. being able to pull out drawers and look down on them has probably doubled the useable space in our freezer now. It probably has a similar capacity on paper, but we can actually get at what we put in the freezer now. Previously, whatever wasn't at the front of the top freezer tended to be forgotten, as unpacking the whole shelf to see what was at the back was a major irritation.
After six moths we have had not problem with the fridge. It feels solid and well-built. It may have been a little noisier than our previous fridge, but then it was about half the price of the old one too, and now it seems to be as quiet as the old one was anyway. Maybe the motor has settled in.
Either way, we are really happy with the Westinghouse. It's been an excellent choice and we are very happy with it. A great price too.
Affordable fridge – Large room for storage. Separate levels & drawers make it easy to store different food. Large freeze room. Stable temperature to keep food fresh. Nice white color. Price is good. Just energy saving is not idea. Door has storage drawers too, which makes the fridge more room. All in all, it's a nice fridge. Show details

Great Fridge! Really spacious – Very easy to clean up spills and lots of room in drawers for fruit and cheese. Doors have lots of room for bottles of all sizes espcially large milk bottles and champagne bottles. Great fridge for families as it has space for everything. Love the white blends in well with my kitchen. Show details
Have had other brands but this is the best – Happy with the fridge over all. Cannot find any faults what so ever. After having other brands this definitely remains at the top of my list. Would never go without a Westinghouse again. Excellent with being able to see clearly what l have in my fridge. Both fridge & freezer very happy with. well done WESTINGHOUSE. Show details
Warranty – : Temperature is great no problems : Quiet : Easy to clean Warranty: Older brand had problems with the freezer rubber seal not sealing. When the service technician came out he was great and did not take their time fixing it. I received a brand new model under warranty. Westinghouse was very helpful when waiting for fridge to arrive when asking questions. Show details
Great fridge – My new bottom mount fridge was only delivered today and I'm already delighted with it. The temperature is well balanced throughout and it's quiet and doesn't make "klunking" noises like my old fridge. The shelves are very easy to access and easy to clean and I'm more than happy with it. Show details
A Great Value Large Capacity Fridge/Freezer – Fridge: Great Lighting, Access, Temp Control, Shelving, Compartments, Capacity and is reasonably quite... no complaints Freezer: Well Organised compartments. Only minor issue is the ice maker, doesn't really work that well. If you want a no frills unit that looks good, is simple (less to go wrong), with excellent capacity; I believe this is it! Show details
Quiet, large capacity, minor issues – Large capacity, quite fridge, with well thought out configuration. Freezer on bottom, with large draws works well. The inbuilt ice tray keeps getting stuck. The internal plastics are a bit flimsy and have cracked, after accidentally dropping some objects in fridge. Reasonable fridge for the money. Show details
Westinghouse are not what they used to be – Purchased this model 5 weeks ago, having had owned 2 Westinghouse fridges before, I was confident in my purchase. The truth however is that this fridge is incredibly noisy. Another issue is that the doors do not 'self close' even with the fridge inclined to the correct position. Westinghouse customers service is non-existant, with two… Read more

Given the similar reviews on here, perhaps Westinghouse is a brand best avoided.
Update: a technician from Westinghouse attended and told me the noise was within expected levels. I would recommend avoiding this model.
Except for the crisper, and lack of wine rack, though early days very good otherwise – The crisper drawer is useless, jams, falls out easily and then awkward to replace, an absolute pain - perhaps the drawer is too narrow or rails too wide. Have sent complaint to W'House reply will be interesting. Otherwise it quiet, roomy well designed, the freezer compartment works well especially the drawers and rails. The SS model comes with a wine rack ($30 otherwise).
