Cooktop writing coming off & rust on front panel – We purchased a Westinghouse Cooktop only about 2 yrs ago Model WHG956SA Clicker works spasmodically Writing on top denoting on/off high/low gas is coming off even thou we do not use harsh cleaners, scrubbers or anything like that The knobs are now plastic covered in silver paint and you can see the silver coming off The hobs are rusting even thou… Read more
we do not put them in water and are cleaned of any spills straight away. I think that Westinghouse have gone the way of making things very cheaply so people buy replacements all of the time. This is just not good enough for something that we cook on everyday and only lasts a few years. Why is Westinghouse making things so cheap looking with substandard materials just like most other companies? If its stainless steel it shouldn't rust but ours has. It must be substandard stainless. We had our previous cooktop for over 20yrs, good quality, no problems, no rust and lettering did not come off. Why, why, are thing produced like this now?
Poor Quality – The cook top is less than three years old and all the print around the control knobs and the Westinghouse logo have already all worn off. Seems to me this would be a safety issue as you cant tell if knobs are in on/off or low/high position. May report this to the ACCC. Igniters fail to work intermittently. Very disappointed. Just awful – I've had my cook top for 6 years now. Within the first year or so it started to tarnish and the print and silver colour rubbed off and around the knobs. Worse still, the burners became so rusty in 2 or 3 years that they literally have chunks of rust coming off if you touch them. One of the igniters died a few months back and just keeps sparking… Read more
and clicking (yep, I cleaned it all out, so it's the igniter itself that needs to be replaced by pulling it all apart underneath) so now I have it permanently turned off at the wall and use a match to light the burners. I'd hope when I bought it that I could keep it when I renovate the kitchen, which I'm about to start. The cook top will go on the street in the next council clean up. I contacted Electrolux to say I don't think it's good enough, but they don't care as it's out of warranty. Suffice to say I won't buy Westinghouse cook tops again.
Very disappointed – I purchased the Westinghouse gas cooktop nearly 8 years ago and I am replacing it with a German made brand (Meile) gas cooktop. I have had to continually buy new knobs over the years as the plastic coating on them wears off and makes the kitchen look old and dirty. Now the writing on the actual gas cooktop is coming off. I have never used abrasive… Read more
cleaners or placed the knobs in the dishwasher. The Westinghouse oven which I purchased at the same time is on borrowed time as the markings on it are doing the same as the cooktop. I will never purchase another Westinghouse product again.
The best dishwasher I have had – This dishwasher is silent and has a three areas (shelves). Top shelf is for Knives and Forks and is a pull out shelf with a top spray. The 2nd shelf is for glasses and containers and small plates. The 3rd is for plates and other things. It is by far the best dishwasher I have had, everything comes out sparkling. Well done Westinghouse!!!
Same experience - lettering/markings coming off, knobs also showing black marks – The gas top is only a few years old and shows signs of wear. Worst part is the lettering and markings coming off and the knobs showing black marks. I need to replace the knobs. What can I do about the markings showing temperature, etc. They are almost all gone. Can they be placed back on?
Cheap Finish & Faulty Starter Mechanism – One of the starters would stick on within the first year. Repaired under warranty but all the guy did was spray lubricant in the mechanism. Now the same one is stuck on permanently and it's obvious that the mechanism is faulty. I'd say poor return spring won't hold it up. The black writing on the cook top surface around the controls wore off very… Read more
quickly. Similarly the knobs are same. No abrasives used in cleaning.
All in all, I'm somewhat disappointed with the product. You'd expect it to hold up a bit better than it has. We also bought an oven which has similar issues with the markings. A bit more attention to detail would have made for a much better experience.

Ohhh shiny! – A neat little silver cooktop with a sturdy cast hob. Works very well and am mostly happy with it. We needed a 600mm gas cooker and this looked to be a good middle of the road option. A little disappointed at not being able to fit two large pans/pots on the two left burners at the same time (splash back limits the depth at the back). Also, even… Read more
with only using ENJO products to clean the cooktop, the printed items are still coming off. Compact Can't put two large pans on the left burners at the same time.
Poor build quality – When I was looking to purchase a westinghouse cook top I was thinking I was getting Australian Made quality since they use the label on their ovens, and price the cooktops premium - not the cook tops as I read underneath! I have had mine for about a year now and have found all the colour off the control knobs to have flaked off despite not using… Read more
any harsh chemicals or scrubbers. The cook top has tarnish marks which I have been told is normal. It's not falling apart but my 1 year old cook top looks worse for wear than my 7 year old previous one. Looks good when first purchased Wears very fast

Excellent gas cooktop – This is an excellent product at an excellent price. Easily installed into old 600mm gas cooktop space. The burners put out great heat to allow quick frying. Easy to clean and the cast iron trivets look good and provide great stability for cooking on. Look past the overpriced European name brands and you'll be rewarded with a robust and reliable gas cooktop. Price, heat output from burners, layout of burners. Nothing
Huge improvement on the Blanco! – This cooktop is better in every way than the Blanco I had. For example, I can now fit 2 frypans on the cooktop at the same time because of the better layout of the burners and knobs, the simmer burner keeps things hot without boiling, it cooks steaks and stif-fries beautifully - no "stewing", it is much easier to clean and looks much better (than… Read more
the Blanco). Cooks steaks and stir fries beautifully - you can reall taste the difference, can fit 2 frypans on the cooktop at the same time, simmer burner keeps things hot without boiling them, very easy to clean, when I cook a steak on high the frypan is still fairly easy to clean unlike Blanco, when I cook on the wok burner I don't feel the heat from the burner (with the Blanco I couldn't use the wok burner because the heat was so intense when standing near it to stir the wok), so far have not found anything I don't like about this cooktop. Wish I'd got one sooner. Nothing so far. Have had it about a week.
