This is the worst Westinghouse fridge freezer design of all time... Drawers fall apart continuously! – I have used Westinghouse appliances exclusively my home for 20 years and this freezer drawer arrangement is terrible...when I rang the service department about it they told me I had to buy new drawer runners and put them together myself!!! The drawers fall off the runners and it is very difficult to attach them again...so very disappointed!!! Show details
WESTINGHOUSE FRIDGE – I love this fridge having the freezer drawers on the bottom because there's plenty of room and the fridge shelves can be adjusted for larger items such as roast pork, turkey, etc. Best fridge I've ever had.
Beautiful addition to my home – Easy to clean, very quiet, keeps frozen food at right temperature. I love the ease with which you can remove handles when fridge was delivered, which also allows you to remove to clean under handles. It is an elegant fridge with lots more inside space compared to my 15 year old fridge it replaced Show details
roomy and quiet – A nice sleek, roomy fridge with a big bottom mount freezer. The "secure" medicine compartment is flimsy and useless, but the rest of the fridge is great. I particularly like the glass shelves, and the crispers which have a little switch so you can change the humidity level depending on what you want to store in them. Show details
very practical set up – Everything just where you want it. I had read that it might be noisy but have not noticed this at all. Very spacious and easy access to food crisper. Door holds lots of food and the freezer down the bottom is ideal. 4 shelves leaves lots of room for a lot of food.
Fridge Not Cold Enough – My review is based on model number WBM5100WB – R. Our fridge is only 3 years old and worked well until late last week it when it didn't stay cold enough. We put the thermometer in the fridge for 3 days with the setting on full cold and the temperature has risen to 12C inside the fridge. Three years before a fridge develops problems like this is not good enough. Buyer beware.

Not cold enough!!!! – Nice looking fridge but doesn't get cold enough !!! We think the food has gone off since we bought it in the last 4 days. We had the thermometer in the fridge for 3 days on full cold and it only got to 4.8 degrees. We have had Westinghouse in the past and have been very happy and the one down stairs still works like to trooper except the shelves have broken over the last 20 years.

Can't get it cold enough – I have had my new frige replaced as it didn't get cold enough. The second new fridge they replaced it with is exactly the same. They say no one has complained about it before? I am not happy as I had previously had a bottom mount westing house which lasted over 15 years. Not a problem with that one till it wore out. Not impressed Westinghouse. The place I had purchased it from are doing there best but I'm starting to get the run around.

Love it – WB5100WCR We bought this fridge after much research October 2013 and after 6 months we love it even more. It just works really well for us, keeps perfect temperature. The wide door shelves are very convenient for those fiddley sauce bottles etc. The easy roll freezer shelves make things so convenient to use and during summer the ice trays are… Read more
brilliant and now we are into winter we removed them and made more space for those winter items like bulk stewing steak for winter stews and briskets. It certainly works for us. We love it!!! Excellent spacing, ease of use, so convenient
Westinghouse WBE4300 - awful - would never buy again!! – Have had this fridge for just over two years and over weekend discovered it had hundreds on small rust spots over both doors! Rang Westinghouse customer service to complain and was told that it was out of warranty and I'd have to pay $140 to have someone come out and assess it. Told them I shouldn't be liable for re cost of a technician coming… Read more
out when it was obviously a manufacturing fault. Told me there was nothing they could do. Refused to put me through to a supervisor. Terrible product and terrible customer service. Buyer beware - do not buy this brand!!!
Cheap stainless steel, pathetic customer service

Good When it Worked – As Murphy would have it our 'new' fridge failed on Christmas Eve. It was not cold anymore and the temperature had risen to 16C inside the fridge. With the weekend and public holidays that meant the service guy would not be able to come for 5 days. Bad luck about the timing as Christmas to New Year is not a good time. The good news was that… Read more
this fridge had a 2 year warranty and it packed it in 6 weeks shy of that.
So the service guy comes and looks at it and says the sealed refrigeration system has failed and it has lost gas and the fridge will need to be replaced.
Electrolux ( that's who owns Westinghouse), says we don't have one in stock and we will call you when we do.
A week passes and I call them and they say well still none should be as week. Then another week.
Anyway eventually they ring to say they have got one for me and of course they don't do any deliveriies on a Saturday or after 4pm. If you both work you have to take a day off to take delivery because they can only give you a 3 hour block in which they will turn up.
So after nearly a month without a fridge in the house it arrived. Some things about modern life are taken for granted and not going to the beer fridge in the laundry 10 times a day is one of them.
So fingers crossed that this one will work for a full service life.
The fridge itself is one with freezer on the bottom and pull out drawers which work well.
There are ice trays which you can turn out into an ice cube box which is a good idea if you like having cubed ice on call.
Glass shelves are easy to clean and the thing is not too noisy.
Not a bad fridge when it is working.
By the way if you are waiting for a new fridge under warranty. Ask for a loan fridge because they do have them, and if you don't ask they won't tell you about them. I found that out the hard way. Freezer on the bottom is great. Ice cube maker and ice bucket are really good. Quite running. Glass shelves seem stronger than plastic ones. 2 year warranty. Stopped working just short of 2 years. Prolonged time waiting for stock and delivery. No mention of loan fridge until it was too lated
Westinghouse Fridge Good Guys – First fridge scratched and dented back Second replacement dented back and scratch Third replacement had a dented side. Fourth replacement bubbled paint and over heated and defected areas were sprayed including black feet. Fifth replacement they hit the wall and chipped the corner while delivering. Its not very cold. drinks.
Takes too long to cool things after fridge is opened.
If you are a party person you will need to buy ice.
I paid around $2200, the cost of making this fridge is around $400 maximum.
Why cant they get it right. It seems they are careless.
The tried very very hard to get it right because they knew I would take it to court.
The fridge is ok but not good. Technology seems to be letting this company down.
It's put together fast, pooly finished, bad metal work. Look at the back of the fridge. and the corners.
Wadding poking out of the corners.etc You dont need to be too smart to spot cheaply made goods.
I would rather spend more for better. Saddly this might be best of the worst in the cheaper range.
Crazy that you cant get quality at $2,200 space but thats it. not cold enough, when down the temperature things freeze in the fridge at the top but still dont cool things near the bottom or cool drinks.

Find out how Westinghouse 510L Bottom Mount WBM5100 Series compares to other Bottom Mount Fridges / Refrigerators
Know better, choose better.
Be wary of sealed system warranty – My WBM5100WB has worked well for three years until recently when it didn't stay cold enough/ran too much and ice blocked the freezer fan. Electrolux phone support said it was out of warranty except for parts for the sealed system. The serviceman said the problem was with the sealed system but it was not worth repairing and I needed a replacement… Read more
fridge. The costs of the labour/return freight to service centre/re-gas/fortnight without a fridge all add up to make make the sealed system warranty useless, at least in a rural area. This is a $1900 fridge that's 3 years old! I'm not sure what the statutory warranty deal is but believe a fridge should last longer than 3 years before needing replacement.
Incidentally, my 17 year old Westinghouse cyclic defrost in the shed is still going strong(which is why I bought WH again).
I prefer to buy Australian made but perhaps it's time to rethink. Bottom mount better for knees Sealed system warranty useless.

Not such a good product – After having a Westinghouse bottom mount fridge for 22 years without one problem , i thought why not buy the same style and brand. We bought a WBM5100WBR fridge. Within the first two months the sides of the fridge would get so hot you could hardly touch them and inside the fridge everything was very damp -so much so that we have things like… Read more
onions and carrots going mouldy.
I have never experienced a carrot going mouldy ever in my life. We believe we have a problem with this fridge, however Electrolux who make Westinghouse do not believe this is the case and will not honour their warranty. We paid $1600 for a rubbish product without any customer care whatsoever.
Why would we ask for the fridge to be replaced when it is only 2 months old if there wasn't a problem? If only they had made a product like they used to i would have been very happy.
I would think twice about buyng a Westinghouse given that their warranty and customer care don't hold any value. I don't think the glass shelves help as they don't allow the air to flow freely around the fridge which may be part of the problem. Anyway buyers need to beware of companies that provide warranty but don't see fit to honour it.

But will it out-last an Admiral? – My review is based on model number - WBM5100WB – R. The interior appearance, of the freezer section has no wire baskets, but deep clear plastic bins including 3 ice cube trays and with fruit and vegetable bins equally sized. My purchase of a Westinghouse in 2008 came with much deliberation when my 17 year old Admiral 410L Top Mount fridge… Read more
freezer was looking unsightly from the exterior rust. It was a cosmetic decision rather than through necessity, as it was, and still is working efficiently to date. (Repainted and ready for summer...)
Given there are but two of us which cater for the occasional party (15 Adults), I went up to a 510L Bottom Mount door configuration, vowing never to bend down as much again like with my old model. And upon research I discovered they don’t make these appliances like they used to… Crisper drawers, hinged shelf, Water jug etc. all give way to glass for extra cleaning and shelves that don’t adjust well to today’s product sizes!
How creative is it, to sketch a design on paper with no practical thought towards the consumer! Although I wrestled with the challenge to stack and place items another way, in the end I didn’t compromise my valuable fridge space due this designer flaw. Albeit everyone’s idea on packing shelves and purchase of groceries is different…
To date, I enjoy my Westinghouse simply because; I don’t have to bend down as much and hope it will out perform my Admiral of 21 years...
Piece of History:
2008 – 4 star energy rating; Westinghouse WBM5100WB – R $1340.00 Delivery $40.00
1991 – 5 star energy rating; Admiral 410L $1038.00 Free Delivery Bottom Mount and Energy Rating Shelf height and wasted space in between
Excellent – RRP was about $1900 but I managed to get it for $1380. Extra 3 years of warranty through Westinghouse was about $90, and I wish I had known as I paid $140 in store. Live and learn. It has behaved itself so far, and it meets our needs, so I'd buy one again. Well, it was actually the WBM5100WB, but let's not split hairs. Nice and quiet. Large. … Read more · 2
Actually worked straight out of the box unlike the Fischer and Paykel I nearly bought (thanks to all the people on productreview for saving me from that one). Make sure you have someone to help you get it off the polystyrene shipping base. I did it on my own, and nearly broke a caster. The Westinghouse thermostat controls are pretty simple and aren't over-engineered like Fischer and Paykel appliances, which seems to be their downfall. Mild on the power consumption compared to the old fridge. Recessed door handles mean nothing to walk into in a crowded kitchen. You can change the dryness of the air going into the vegie crispers too, so things don't wilt as much, and there seems to be a decent amount of room in the door. Ice cube trays are up the top and out of the way. No compartment for meat, but I guess that can also be a plus as you aren't as restricted when you want to put something large in the fridge. Freezer draws mean you have to open the door all the way to get them to slide, but are still probably the best option for an upside down fridge.
