Would I buy one again?
Would I buy one again? Probably not. While the style of the french doors and pull out freezer suits our kitchen the functionality is questionable. The compressor is intermittently noisy, the spring loaded mid door seal does not work reliably and the temperature setting is optimistic and inaccurate.

Design fault with freezer handle. Poor out of warranty experience.
Our freezer handle broke off the other day from normal use which was a bit of a shock. Strangely the left hand clip broke on the door side but the handle mount broke on the right side leaving the fridge side clip intact. I thought it would be as simple as calling Westinghouse and buying some new clips but sadly I was wrong. I was informed that the clips on the door side are apart of the freezer door and the whole door would need to be replaced which would cost over $300. To add insult to injury Westinghouse don't sell the plastic handle mounts ...instead they make you buy all the handles as a set which would be another $300+. So it would be well over $600 to repair an obvious design fault. When I reported the fault and advised that the price of the parts makes it uneconomical to repair there was no further offer of support for this fault even though it looks to be known issue. This is very disappointing that the freezer is now unusable because of a couple of cheap plastic clips and a poor design. Our previous Fisher & Paykel fridge was over 10 years old and worked flawlessly and obviously had much sturdier handles. The only reason we upgraded to the Westinghouse was because of the french door design. I definitely wont be buying another Westinghouse in the future.

Broken after 1.5 years. Third time called for service.
Fridge motor has died after 1.5 years of use. After 6 months the motor began to make a loud screeching noise, called Westinghouse they sent a repair man (2 weeks later) and replaced an apparent faulty part. Roughly 6 months after that it began making more loud noises. Called repairs again. Now after 1.5 years it has completely died. Motor will not work $200 worth of food going bad, was just on hold for 1 hours and 20mins to just ask for a call back. I'm now wanting a full refund and never buying a Westinghouse product again. Amazing that a $2,0...00 fridge could be so porely made. When I was younger our fridge lasted 15 years not one and a half years. *update* Have spoken with customer service. The lady initially tells me the technician will take around a month to come. Now I am expecting a call from a contractor in the next few hours. She asked my if i have a spare fridge (which I don't), to which she tells me "well most people have a spare fridge these days" which I find completely absurd. I would honestly like a full refund/return on the fridge now as I have no confidence this will not happen again once the warranty ends in a few months time.

Best fridge I have ever owned
After a disastrous experience with my last Samsung fridge I purchased this one about 5 months ago. It is so practical. I was a bit unsure about the freezer drawers at first but they are excellent and hold so much. The humidity control on the crisper keeps fruit and veg so much longer and the wide open shelves in the fridge compartment hold everything I have thrown at it including a whole baked leg of ham and turkey over Christmas.

Westinghouse French Door Fridge/Freezer - WHE5204BC - Deceptively big on capacity!
We bought this fridge to replace our Westinghouse that broke down after only 8 years. This one is the newer model of the one we had. It's a tad smaller size but has a much better internal design, allowing for more space to be filled. We really do like it, despite the few 'cons' below, which aren't really bothersome.
Overall size, colour (dark grey) doesn't show finger marks, great internal space, very cold internal temperature, anti-spill shelves, adjustable shelving that allows for lots more in-door storage, and a great freezer sect...

Should be reported to Fair Trading
Bought this fridge in 2017.
May 2019 fridge broke down-lost $200 worth of food-Lucky still in warranty.
Computer board replaced.
2 weeks ago Handle came off freezer. Enquired about parts(should have been maximum cost of $5 for a new handle spacer but told you cant buy just the spacer. you have to buy 3 new handles-Are they kidding-Cost between $250 & $300-This is scandalous-Rippoff. About a week after the 2 year warranty expired-go figure

Disgusting doesn't work after a period not cover in warranty too
Fridge power drops whenever connects to point after a year. When i rang customer care, they says not their problem anymore as warranty doesn't cover it after a year.
3 years still going strong g
my last fridge started falling apart after 4 years but this one has been a gem so far. I purchased it in early 2017 and have not had any problems with it and can safely say its a well built fridge. its definitely been a good purchase for me

Compressor blew after two years
Purchased this fridge in 2017 and have been in love with it until the compressor blew suddenly!
I run a small cake business and have been left without a fridge for two days not to mention thrown out over $100 worth of food.
Paid $145 for a Westinghouse technician to come out and tell me what I already knew, and that the entire unit would need to be taken to a workshop for “repair”. Will never purchase a Westinghouse again - extremely disappointing!
Purchased in December 2017 at Appliances Online for $1,800.00.
Was a great fridge until the door handle mount broke....
Fridge has been great until the freezer door handle came off.... I would have given it 5 stars until this
The design of the handle mount is bad with a lot of weight bearing on a small plastic mount
When the mount breaks you cannot replace it - you have to buy an entire handle kit which is 3 steel handles and 6 six plastic mounts.... cost ~$300. The money I can live with, the waste is unacceptable. Not good Westinghouse - hope you are listening !
Purchased in February 2018 for $2,100.00.
this fridge does not maintain a reliable temperature ,and when you try to set the controls panel
it doesn't work ,I need to get their people at $125 to look at the problem ,plus costs if it needs repairs
and they know the fridge has issues anyway ,when you payed $1850 you expect to get more than 2 years
my parents had a fridge that was 40 years old
Happy until handle came off.
Very happy with this fridge until the handle came off the freezer drawer. Fridge is only 3 years old. Enquired about a part to be told I needed a handle repair kit at cost of $309 ( it was a small plastic bit that was broken) On a aprox $2000 fridge , handle should last longer than 3 years.
Purchased in December 2016 at The Good Guys.
Less than 3 years old, problems starting
Refrigeration too warm 12 degrees Celsius , Freezer still operational.
Unit was turned off for 3 days and was OK then, but after 4 days -same problem
Not very happy as never had issues with any other model.Problems seem to be consistent as per feedback from other users, I expect a fridge with this price tag to perform longer than 3 years!!
Purchased in May 2017 for $1,600.00.
This is perfect
Very happy with my French Door Westinghouse Refrigerator. Have had it now for 6 months. It has so much more room in it than my last French Door Refrigerator, especially in the freezer section.
Purchased in June 2019 at The Good Guys.
Only a couple of yrs old and the freezer handle came off the other week. The fridge presents in as new condition and falling to bits. The handle which goes expands full width of the freezer door (which is the width of the fridge) is quite heavy and its roll is to pull out the massive heavy draw full of frozen food but its mounted on about a 5c piece plastic nob which is clearly a fixture WAY too small for the job and one of the plastic bits snapped off. The handle cannot be re-fitted! Also the seals/gaskets are not sticking properly ie when ...you open the doors there is no suction so opening feels like opening a cupboard. I noticed food that should last for months going mouldy plus the seals are wet with condensation. The seals appear perfect to look at yet failing. All up the fridge is not fit for purpose. At this stage Im monitoring the temp and other variables to see how things go and will contact the manufacture....if no job maybe the ACCC. A fridge yrs back could last 20 yrs plus. We know manufacturers are always trying to produce and use cheaper materials but would at least expect 10 yrs out of it. Westinghouse - I'll remember not to purchase anything Westinghouse again.

A bad fridge
Has stopped working within 3 years It does not refrigerate any more, In the previous 33 years I have used only 2 refrigerators, one Electrolux and one Amana. Very disappointed.

Broken after 2 and half years
Never had fridges broken after two and half years. This is the worst fridge I ever seen. I am expecting a good quality appliance from Westinghouse. Never buy anything from this brand again.
Purchased in December 2016 at David Jones for $2,000.00.
Love our new Westinghouse
Upgraded due to growing family 2 months ago from our smaller white top mount Westinghouse and have had no regrets.
It was the best looking stainless steel fridge that fit in our relatively small area (less than 890mm wife)
The freezer compartments fit what feels like double the amount of food compared to old fridge/freezer even though new one is only 100L overall bigger.
The fridge feels like it’s also designed well and space in the door trays is more than adequate.
We never hear it running like our old fridge occasionally and haven’t had any...

Worst Fridge Ever
When we bought our house we thought we'd "invest" in an expensive fridge that would hopefully last years and years. The first fridge was replaced within the two year warranty. The second fridge was replaced within the two year warranty. The third fridge started to ice up massively. I manually defrosted it which helped for a couple of months, then it started icing up again to the point I couldn't even open the freezer door so I got an emergency independent fridge technician over to look at it. He recommended turning the fridge/freezer off for tw...o days and said hopefully that would resolve the issue. I had to throw out a lot of food, at least $100 worth. After two days I turned the fridge back on but I could still see a gap in the freezer and sure enough within a day the freezer was fully iced up again. I called Electrolux and they said my fridge wasn't under warranty anymore and they didn't think they could get a technician out that day (Friday) and Saturday was booked out but they'd see what they could do and call me back within an hour. After not receiving the call back within an hour and taking into account callout fees and parts and labour, my husband and I agreed not to throw good money after bad and ended up purchasing another brand new fridge which I'm hoping lasts far longer than the Westinghouse one did and doesn't need to be replaced so often. This fridge is utterly useless and a complete waste of money. I provided Electrolux the opportunity to respond to this review via mediation and they advised they could only have assisted if I still had the fridge for them to inspect. I'd had it taken away for disposal when our new one was delivered - why would I keep a broken fridge that was leaking all over my floors and who has room to store this? Electrolux also asked to see the service report from the independent fridge technician I called out, however I did not have one, in fact the technician didn't even charge me for the visit and he did not physically repair the fridge, only made the recommendation to switch the fridge off for two days. I am now in the process of making a complaint to the industry ombudsman.
Purchased in April 2013 at David Jones Retail Stores.
Nothing but problems. leaked and damaged our floors. Got a 2nd fridge and still leaks. 2 months and still waiting for tech to come out. Would not recommend this brand

Questions & Answers
Hi , I have Westinghouse WHE5200SA, Top part is not cooling, Fridge is about 4-5 years old. can you give me any idea? email pls : [Email Removed]
Hi where can I get replacement door handles. The handle on my freezer draw has broken the plastic clip.
I've read about this happening before with this model! I believe that the current Westinghouse fridges are now made in Thailand and no longer in Australia, hence the cheap and flimsy build quality. If your fridge is within warranty period, contact the store where you bought it. If not, you'd probably need to contact Westinghouse directly.
Yes I know they are no longer made in Australia. I have got into a supplier that may help me.
Thanks for you're information.
I have just purchased second hand. The freezer handle was broken, white clips are still there, was aware I had to buy new handles. Switched on fridge and left it for 3 hours and it got cold but the freezer door would not open and the beeper keeps going on the fridge. Phoned electrolux and they said use a credit card to break the seal, did not work, will not open. Gave me names for repairers. I have contacted one to come and check out the fridge.
