Disappointed

Of course this microwave suddenly started sparking two months after warranty ran out. I thought Westinghouse would be a great product. The bigW microwave I replaced it with at half the price has a two year warranty .It pays to shop around and don’t just trust a brand Show details

Very Basic and Poor quality for the price

The microwave door mechanism is very clunky and noisy when opening/closing.
The humming noise generated while heating food is also excessive. Don't buy this if you have an open kitchen lounge. There are 5 loud beeps when the heating cycle is completed, there is no way to adjust the volume. The Interior light failed after 14 months, there is no instruction on how to change the bulb?
Overall, I'm very disappointed with the poor quality of this product for the price. Show details

Sensor cooking poor, cooking unreliable

The settings on this microwave are awful. The sensor options in particular are a joke. The rice is consistently undercooked, the defrost cooks everything, reheated meals are overcooked, and vegetables and potatoes undercooked. Even using the normal cooking functions the final results are unreliable. Avoid this product, Choice had it right and it's not worth the money.

Update: I agreed to mediation before publishing this review but the company did not respond to my emails or calls. Months later and still no response from the manufacturer. Show details

Regret the purchase

You have to physically turn the turn table when placing the item in so that it turns when operating. If not the turntable doesn't move.
The power lever, I can't get it to always operate at level 10. Most days it will, then all on it's own it only operates at level 8. Even if you set time then set power level at 10 it will only operate at 8. Show details

After 18 months internal rust on upper surface

After using this microwave oven over 18 months for simple heating tasks, nothing complicated, I notices an area of rust covering about 10cm by 10 cm in several patches on the upper surface of the device. A web search suggested it was now probably best not to use the device because of the danger of radiation leakage. Apart from the rust, the microwave has been satisfactory, and it is very easy to use. I also purchased and extended warranty from the retailer, but that has shown itself to be useless. Show details

Terrible

Purchased in January 2020,worked well until it suddenly stopped heating. Light and turntable still work.
Can not be repaired. I'd expect a Westinghouse product to be MUCH for reliable and come with a longer warranty.

Poor quality & unreliable

I was disappointed in it’s cooking performance, and now I’m very unhappy with it’s reliability. This microwave oven seemed to cook unevenly, with hot spots in the food, that I hadn't noticed in my previous microwave ovens. Recently it got very noisy, and now has failed after just 3 years of little use. Power is ON, light is ON, the turntable rotates, but no cooking. For $189 I would expect a life of 10 years or more, like my previous Sharp and Panasonic ovens. I'm advised it isn't repairable as the EHT power supply and Magnetron have failed. Show details

short warranty and can not be repaired when faulty

Thought I had purchased a good quality product. worked great for 18month then suddenly stopped heating - light and turn table still working. Called Westinghouse to be told that it only has a 12month warranty and this Microwave is unpreparable (for any fault). I knew it was out of warranty but as it was expensive I thought it would be cheaper to just repair it but apparently that's not an option. Show details

Noisy

This appliance cooks well, but is very noisy compared to previous Panasonic model. Love the fact it doesn't have "cool down" feature. Quick cook by simply touching a button is a great feature, from 1-9 minutes. So far the cooking is right on point - fast and powerful. The noisy operation to us is an issue & makes it disappointing & therefore loses stars as it is annoying and in this day & age should be whisper quiet. Show details

Perfect for heating, defrosting, and etc

Very straightforward microwave. It has a style & fashion that is basically easy and or usable for everybody. It helps to warm up foods accordingly and at the same time aid in defrosting frozen stuff brilliantly. Show details

So close yet so far

Pros:
- Cooks well
- Large capacity
- Stainless steel doesn't leave fingerprints (no other brand has this)
- Clock is large and easily readable from a distance
- Unlike the 23L version, doesn't have the compulsory power saving mode which turns off the clock after 60 seconds

Cons:
- Not quiet
- Clock is 12 hour only and orange in colour
- Lamp cannot be turned off when leaving the door open to ventilate condensation after cooking, forcing you to close the door and seal in the moisture. The 23L version is the same despite its compulsory power saving mode.
- The black plastic rim between the door and side panels should have been stainless steel as well Show details

Perfect basic microwave

We had an Ilve combo microwave which died after some 10ish years of service (looked like the magnetron, as everything worked, it just didn't heat), so we looked at every locally available microwave that would fit the space we had. Having recently purchased a Westinghouse fridge freezer, we opted for the matching microwave.

I has a larger turntable and is more powerful than the old Ilve.

It does everything we need, and cost significantly less than the trim kit we bought to go with the old oven.

Really happy with this purchase, have had it for a few weeks now and just getting used to the shorter times required to do things, with this higher wattage unit. Would buy again Show details

Does anyone else find that this model seems to generate moisture that stays on the inside surfaces? We have to leave the door open for the moisture to evaporate. Shouldn't the fan pump moist air out (or dry air in?)

Do you have sufficient clearance around the unit for ventilation? The manual recommends: "A minimum clearance of 7.5cm is required between the oven and any adjacent walls. Leave a minimum clearance 30cm above the oven."

Dose anyone have a problem with the door fogging up after cooking? I have had this happen with other microwaves but this happened last night & is still fogged this morning.
