Lasted 2 years and 4 months then died. Has had very little use, mostly just run a few minutes to warm or defrost. Westinghouse not interested when I contacted them. I bought all new Westinghouse items for my renovated kitchen. Never again, they can stick their products. Show details

Impressed with performance, aesthetics, and affordability – I purchased this microwave one month ago and am really impressed with it. The stylish black colour adds a modern touch to our kitchen. The microwave's quick start features make it convenient for our busy family. At $199, it offers great bang for buck. With its 40L capacity, it easily accommodates our family of four and surprisingly fits my rather… Read more

Disappointed – Of course this microwave suddenly started sparking two months after one year warranty ran out. I thought Westinghouse would be a great product. The bigW microwave I replaced it with at half the price has a two year warranty .It pays to shop around and don’t just trust a brand Show details

A disappointing microwave from a trusted manufacturer – Back in early 2019 we went looking for a new microwave to replace the then 9 year old LG unit. Requirements were large capacity cavity, large glass rotating plate, high power, preferably old school touchpad and a kitchen timer. Advanced cooking features were not required, even though they can't be avoided, just wanted to enter a time and press go!… Read more

Choices came down to the then current models Samsung, LG NeoChef and this Westinghouse.

We ended up choosing the WMF4102BA Westinghouse as it was the simple old school unit that met all the requirements. Unfortunately after purchase we found a number of disappointing shortcomings.

1. After about 7 to 9 minutes of cooking time it goes into longer and longer cooling periods during cooking cycle. It eventually gets to a 20 to 30 sec off and 30 to 40 sec on split. Westinghouse say this is normal and just means everything takes longer to cook. What used to cook in 14 to 15 mins became 17 to 18. 2. Doesn't heat evenly. Try to heat a cup of water or milk and it will heat the top half of the cup to the point of boiling over while the bottom half remained barely lukewarm. Required a stir of the contents every 60 or so seconds. 3. Tried the sensor cook and reheat once. Just overcooked the food and dried it all out. Never used it again. 4. Just over 2 years old, and just out of warranty, the plastic covering on the touchpad started to ripple, stretch and tear through. Looks terrible. 5. Requires you to press the "Cook Time" button before entering a cook time. 6. Can't use the cook function while using the kitchen timer is running and vice versa. A big let down compared to the previous LG. And was the main reason the new LG got the flick, even though it didn't have a keypad, it has no kitchen timer at all.

And now at just over 4 years old as of this review, it died. A very loud buzzing noise followed by a weird smell alerted us to its death before anything worse happened. Got it just before it let out the magic smoke.

Which is a overall a massive letdown in itself given how little use its had. Would average maybe 2 cooks per week under our ownership.

If half stars were available I'd give it a 2.5, as I think that's what it deserves. I toyed with rounding down to 2 stars, but felt that was a little unfair so rounded up

Not quite what we expected – When our Panasonic microwave died after 10 years faithful service we were both keen to have a Westinghouse replacement as all our other major kitchen appliances are Westinghouse. My wife also wanted a large turntable and 1100W power. We ordered on-line as we were in the midst of the coronavirus lockdown. As soon as we opened the box we went "Oh… Read more

No". We had checked the measurements before ordering and it seemed to fit the microwave recess, but due to a combination of a large mounting box for the GPO (power point) at the back of the recess; the power plug being of the straight-in-line type (rather than low profile) and the bulging protrusion from the back of the microwave, the machine sits forward of the opening of the recess. I've had to devise a shield to protect the mirowave door from the heat of the wall oven below.

Unfortunately there was no point going back to Appliances Online because they prominantly stated on their website that due to COVID19 they would not be accepting returns. We will bear that in mind in future. But we are also at fault because with the coronavirus lockdown we panicked and didn't take the time to fully research a new purchase. How could one live without a microwave?

As for the microwave, I think we have a dud. Just have a look at the photo of cheese and baked beans on toast. One half of the cheese has not melted, after 30 seconds at 1100W. I have not experienced that with any other microwave oven. With other dishes the outside can be hot but the centre cold. But I thought microwave ovens worked by heating from the inside out? The 'Sensor Reheat' setting certainly reheats. It does alot more. Even without a food cover interferring with the sensors, it will re-cook the food and is happy to reheat the contents on a plate for 4-5 minutes unless stopped beforehand. But it does not cremate. (Our previous machine was a Panasonic and it had a very accurate and gentle reheat function.)

We paid Appliances Online $247 for this machine. In retrospect we should have bought the $99 1100w KMart microwave oven.

Very pleased about this product – This microwave which I purchased this morning after doing a lot of research has paid me "dividends" already. I paid $222 for this at Good Guys in Belconnen Canberra. Extremely reasonable price for a solid microwave. First I must say it is too early days but must say never seen a microwave that does not steam up after cooking rice. The… Read more

previous one I had to always wipe the water moisture off the inside but this one is as dry as a bone after cooking. So already a plus. Also this is very solidly built with very convenient features.

I sincerely hope Westinghouse will maintain its reputation by producing quality reliable products like these in the future to make this world a better one. My fridge too is Westinghouse. The previous Westinghouse fridge lasted close to 20 years like my first microwave.

So I will be keeping my fingers crossed on this new purchase to be a good one.

After reading Product Reviews on microwaves this was the best I found.

Good luck to all.

Quality build. But not very smart – What I like: The build quality of this microwave is definitely at a higher standard compared to similar priced ones from other brand. The buttons and door release has a solid feel. And the door release does not get stuck in the open position like a lot of other brands. It is also more efficient for the same cooking power. The finger proof coating… Read more

really does work (not just a marketing claims like other brands).

What I didn't like:

The control panel has a matte finish making it look like a cheap sticker. It is not smart enough to return the food to the front when finished. I cook all my food at full minutes (eg. 7 or 8 or 9 minutes) and they always end up at the back of the turntable. The 1 to 6 keys have been programmed as quick start for 1 to 6 minutes of cooking. But left the 7 to 9 keys to do nothing. Would have been good to extend that quick start function for all keys. The LCD display is a very dirty creepy yellow colour. It looks like a pair of eyes at night especially when the clock is left unset at 0:0.

Noisy – This appliance cooks well, but is very noisy compared to previous Panasonic model. Love the fact it doesn't have "cool down" feature. Quick cook by simply touching a button is a great feature, from 1-9 minutes. So far the cooking is right on point - fast and powerful. The noisy operation to us is an issue & makes it disappointing & therefore loses stars as it is annoying and in this day & age should be whisper quiet. Show details

Perfect basic microwave – We had an Ilve combo microwave which died after some 10ish years of service (looked like the magnetron, as everything worked, it just didn't heat), so we looked at every locally available microwave that would fit the space we had. Having recently purchased a Westinghouse fridge freezer, we opted for the matching microwave. I has a larger… Read more

turntable and is more powerful than the old Ilve.

It does everything we need, and cost significantly less than the trim kit we bought to go with the old oven.

Really happy with this purchase, have had it for a few weeks now and just getting used to the shorter times required to do things, with this higher wattage unit. Would buy again

Very Basic and Poor quality for the price – The microwave door mechanism is very clunky and noisy when opening/closing. The humming noise generated while heating food is also excessive. Sensor cooking poor, cooking unreliable – The settings on this microwave are awful. The sensor options in particular are a joke. Regret the purchase – You have to physically turn the turn table when placing the item in so that it turns when operating. If not the turntable doesn't move. The power lever, I can't get it to always operate at level 10. Most days it will, then all on it's own it only operates at level 8. Even if you set time then set power level at 10 it will only operate at 8. Show details

Manufacturing defects and no repairs possible – This microwave stopped heating three weeks after the one year warranty ended. Good guys wouldn’t touch it because it was out of warranty. Electrolux (brand owner) said this model was not repairable and was never designed to be repaired if it failed. I took it to an electrician who tested the fuses and determined that the magnetron (part that … Read more

pushes heat in to the microwave) was broken. He also noticed wires sticking out where the magnetron was attached - a manufacturing defect.

Electrolux have been unhelpful so far in responding. The Good guys don’t tell you the microwave cannot be repaired if it fails.

Conclusion: don’t buy this microwave, if they fail within 12 months Electrolux just replace them. They clearly know they’re poorly manufactured and are just hoping the issue presents itself after the warranty period is up so they can avoid dealing with it.

Excellent large no-frills microwave – Bought this one after our Sharp Carousel started arcing. It's not an inverter, but not an issue for us since we really only use our microwave to cook vegetables and reheat left-overs and beverages. double check it would fit into our microwave shelf (made it by 10mm), something to keep in mind. some brands you have to apply so much pressure it makes it unworkable. In the case of this Westinghouse microwave, it's great. You just need slight pressure for the buttons to take. I have only used the default options to reheat food (which work really well), but I'm keen to also try the "melt" butter or chocolate options. A nice feature to have. It has a bright digital display, easy to clean (not too many crevices inside to worry about) and has a timer which I find useful (just to use in the kitchen, it doesn't affect the microwave itself).
