Instantly trips RCD – Rcd trips instantly. Have had most major parts ohm tested (Heater element, Compressor, overload and start relay) All are within tolerance. When start capacitor is disconnected fridge will turn on without compressor running (all lights and fan work). Will also run if start relay is disconnected from compressor. Can anyone advise ?  Show details

Great until it died – This has been a good fridge until the other week when the alarm went off about 9.00 pm. Alarm indicated that freezer was not maintaining temperature. Press the reset button, alarm stopped. All Good. An hour later same thing happens. By 2.00 am in the morning I am sick of being woken up every hour to press the reset button so I turn the fridge off… Read more

so as to get some uninterrupted sleep. Turn it on in the morning and when I get home from work that evening , wife says it has been doing the same thing all day.

It seems that you cannot disable the alarm.

Very disappointed that this has only lasted 3 1/2 years. We have always had good experience with Westinghouse products previously, that's why we stuck with them on this one.

Luckily I purchased extended warranty. Or so I thought. It has been inspected by Electrolux but they don't seem to be corresponding with warranty people so am now in limbo without a fridge and they don't seem to care.

Maybe for future purchases we will just buy cheap Chinese brands with the expectation of replacing them more often, saving money on expensive products and extended warranty cover.

Poor quality – They sure don't make Westinghouse like they used to! Purchased from Bing Lee a few years ago and was replaced within a year due to the cracks appearing in the freezer. The replacement fridge has also suffered the same fate. There are a plethora of cracks on the base of the freezer, and now also the fridge and the ice trays cracked. Also… Read more

be aware that the actual fridge turns into a freezer quite regularly resulting in food in the vege bins and lower shelves partially freezing.

Poor build quality/keeps freezing food in body of frig – It was only 12-18 months old when we began to notice cracks on the plastic internal skin at the bottom near the crisper drawers. Then we discovered more in the freezer compartment. Now despite it being summer and having the cold setting in the fridge compartment on less than half way it still freezes vegetables in trays at the back of the frig.… Read more

Our previous fridge a Fisher and Paykel gave us over 20 years of faithful service without any problems. We couldn't recommend this brand of fridge to anyone as a result of these shortcomings.

Horrible – I bought this fridge in 2012 (3 years ago) and it is broken. All my food in the fridge/freezer keeps going off since it is not cooling it properly. Worse than that is the door alarm keeps going off every hour! Ive followed all the instructions to stop the beeping but it still keeps going. Been trying to get someone out to repair it thru my… Read more

extended warrenty but they're not helping either. Love how my partner bought a different brand fridge 10 years ago for less than half the price and it's been hooked up on the outside patio for years and it's never had a problem.

Too early to tell – Our last Westinghouse lasted more than 20 years, and in fact was still going when we decided to replace it. The build quality on this one (cabinet wise) is pretty poor, and we've noticed the same on other Westinghouse fridges in the shops. It is noisy compared to others we've owned so we're hoping that longevity will be it's strength. But for… Read more ·  3

now it is good, and economical to run.... let's see, only time will tell....because on noise & cabinet build quality I'm sure there's plenty of competitors in this size and type range (and some are cheaper when on promotional special).

Westinghouse virtuoso s/s fridge – Our first fridge we bought was a Westinghouse 30yrs ago! Since we were so impressed with it we decided to replace it with same make again. Unfortunately it hasn't given us the same satisfaction, from the time we bought the fridge the freezer seal does not close properly. I called the call centre several times regarding my concerns but I as told… Read more

that's the way the seals are nowadays. Over time though it progressively become worse and I'm constantly wiping water that's dripping off the freezer. I realise I'm past any warranty but I'm extremely frustrated by this problem. Has anyone else experienced the same and can I fix this problem?

Hate it – Purchased this in stainless steel because I had had one for 15 years before and because it was made in Australia. After three months the inside bottom of fridge (skin) started showing cracks from where the vegie compartments in the bottom of the fridge joined in the centre. The cracks grew. I claimed under warranty and got a new fridge. At 18… Read more

months small hairline cracks appeared in freezer base(skin). I was busy and didn't worry too much until one day - they were everywhere and getting bigger. I rang warranty- into extended warranty- not covered as only mechanical is covered in extended warranty. At 2.5 years the water tray under the fridge fills up with water weekly which activates an alarm in the fridge which goes off once a week in the middle of the night always. (Probably as there's cracks in the freezer!) Waiting to see of this is covered under extended warranty. "Lumley" extended warranty no good- am arguing over the purchase date as their computer says exactly one year before I actually purchased it- even though I have receipt from retravision store, EFTPOS receipt and delivery docket- all with the date of purchase- their computer system says otherwise. Would never buy another Westinghouse!

Love this fridge! – Our first fridge (Westinghouse) lasted 34 years (one replacement thermostat) !! We decided to go larger, despite no children living at home anymore, and we bought the white version of the model before the above fridge and were very happy with it. It now lives (and works) in our shed because we splurged on the SS version when we completely… Read more

remodelled our kitchen 2 1/2 years ago.

There is so much to love about this fridge, but my very favourite features are the vegetable and fruit crisper drawers. I have been able to keep vegetables beautifully fresh for weeks(!) and avocados for up to 2 weeks in the fruit drawer. The temperature settings are spot on (I have to use a fridge thermometer to keep meds exactly between 2'-8'C). Mould has rarely been a problem- always of my own making by being slack! The icecube maker in this one is a real bonus.

We have a large home garden, orchard and chooks, so there is always a lot of produce to store before using or passing on. The 2 large top-of-fridge freezers in the kitchen and in the shed are fully used. I love my Westinghouses! As above. Nothing so far.

Excellent – Waited 6 weeks before writing this review, to be confident, and can now say that it's our best ever frig. It runs very quietly, and is so very easy to use. Our previous was a bottom mount, on the theory that you use the fridge more than the freezer, but the top freezer has been of no consequence in that regard. The glass shelves make it quite easy… Read more ·  2

to see what's lower down in the fridge without much bending, and it's a joy to have the freezer at eye level. We researched many models before buying this, and it came nearest to ticking all the boxes, at a relatively modest price, only $100-$200 more than our previous one, same size, 11 years ago! We'd thought our old one was running a lot, so I bought separately,a digital fridge and freezer thermometer. That shows us that this one is very good at maintaining constant temperature; readings only vary 1 degree or so. Nothing but happy! Plenty of usable space, glass shelves, quiet.

Pretty Damn Good! – Have had my Westinghouse 420L for two weeks now and am very impressed with it. Was worried that the exterior was going to be a pain to keep clean (especially with a 4 and 2 year old wiping their hands on it every day), but so far it's been a breeze to keep clean. Plenty of room inside, although I did take out the two little shelf compartments to… Read more

make room for taller 2L bottles. The freezer is great - very roomy and just the right temperature. Instead of having to put the ice-cream in the microwave for 15 secs to defrost so you can scoop it out (as I had to do with my previous freezer), the ice-cream is just right for scooping out - not too hard, not too soft. Crisper has lots of room. All of that, plus it's very quiet (which wouldn't be hard compared to our old one - even the delivery guys commented on how noisy it was)! Very quiet, good size, easy to clean, good price. If I had to name something it would probably be how long it takes for the fridge light to turn on, but I can live with it.

very annoying lighting issue – unfortunately showrooms don't have the fridges turned on so issues such as this aren't apparent til you get it home... the freezer light is on a manual switch and comes on immediately on opening the door... the fridge light is on a digital switch and it take 2 1/2 secs for it to come on when you open the door!!... i've had it checked out & the… Read more
