Best kitchen appliance – Have had this convection microwave oven for 6 years. Prior to this model had the earlier model we purchased in 2003 which was still functioning perfectly after 13 years of regular use. Just changed due to aesthetics in our new kitchen. Use it every day as a crisp and grill microwave. Perfect for roasts, quiche, bacon and eggs, reheating foods such as lasagne etc. Bakes perfectly on fan forced. Easy to clean. Show details

Whirlpool 6th sense microwave COOKBOOK – I recently purchased the Whirlpool 6th sense crisp microwave oven model JQ280. To help demystify cooking cakes, biscuits as well as other recipes in my oven - I purchased the recipe book on the Whirlpool website. On leafing through this book I quickly realised even though the books front cover had a photo of my microwave oven it was not written… Read more

for my oven. I do not have a CHEF MENU BUTTON on my model I cannot turn a knob to select CAKES AND PASTRYS NO.10 No.10 for my oven is Auto MW and shows Asparagus not COOKIES No. 6. The Recipe book then states to press start to commence the cooking cycle. PLEASE how do I cook the COOKIES recipe on page 65. A conversion chart needs to be supplied. This is my 3rd Whirlpool microwave oven since the 1990's and would not buy any other brand but this recipe book has really let me down. Jann N.

no service or spare parts available- you can't even get a replacement plate – The Concept is great, the product works well, but there is no support, I have emailed the company 3 times with no response. I rang them and they said see if you can get one online we don't have any spare plates and have none on order. Show details

Crisp function is awesome! – I’ve only had this microwave a week so I’m still getting used to it, but so far I’m loving it! The crisp function is great for cooking wedges, pizzas and sausage rolls. I’m still trying to work out the timing for defrosting bread as the 6th sense defrost function only covers meats and vegetables. There is no guidance in the instructions or… Read more

reference guide, it just states to choose the auto function but there is no auto function for bread. Other than that I’m really happy with this microwave.

Perfect 6th sense brilliant – Loads of features, 2 person unit does a great job and beats having house heat up like the regular ovens. Heats up quickly, less washing up, food retains moisture. Programmes great selection including steam function. Highly recommended and value for money. Show details

Whirlpool's best Microwave – I have purchased the JQ280 29l convection - crisp - grill - microwave oven. I find it very easy to use , I find it heats the food evenly and preserves the original texture of the food. it is a smart looking machine and has a handle to open the door unlike other models that have a push button to open the door. it is also a quiet unit it comes with an extended 3 year warranty for piece of mind.  Show details

What can't you do with this micowave? – Owned an earlier Whirlpool Crisp and Bake and recently upgraded to the larger 29L Convection, Crisp and Grill and haven't looked back. More features with the 6th sense function and auto weighing, so far cooking to perfection every time. Steamer dish and steam function makes veggies a breeze. Even cooked a pork belly like in the you tube video, beautiful crackling and juicy pork first go.  Show details

Whirlpool JQ280IX Crisp N Grill – Purchased this after our trusty Sharp microwave packed up. It's very quiet, easy controls to use and it crisps food extremely well. The crisp plate comes with a handle to remove it when hot but I found it hard to use so just use oven gloves. It microwaves well, I haven't tried to cook a roast in it yet. The 6th sense function works very well. … Read more

I also like the design as the top element exposed is not exposed as it was in the Sharp. This makes cleaning much easier.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the fact the instruction manual could be better and include more instructions for convenience foods like pies (not jsut party pies). Also, some of the Amercian English confused me: I didn't realise 'fish sticks' meant fish fingers!

We had it for an extremely good price from Harvey Norman Osborne Park ($399) so I couldn't be happier and I am sure with trial and error which sort out the speeds and timing I need to use.‹

Great multi purpose oven – This was a Christmas present so still early days but so far a big improvement over my basic cheapie microwave I had before. It is quick and silent and the extra features make it very handy in the kitchen. My only negative if it is one is that I found the instructions very minimal for someone like me who is older and not as familiar with fancy… Read more

gadgets but I got there in the end with the help of youtube. A bigger more comprehensive instruction booklet with loads of recipes would make this a very much 5 star purchase.

Microwave JQ280IX Whirlpool – we were very happy with our new purchase, after less than 1 year it broke down. Everything still worked but whichever function you used, it automatically turned off after + - 2 minutes. Having a technician come on site but he could not fix the defect either, with our extended insurance we could get a new one. No, it is not that simple because this device was no longer available ... Show details

Early Feedback – After 15 years, our old Samsung microwave finally gave in and so we were on the hunt. After extensive research, we settled on the Whirlpool JQ280 for its size, functionality and looks. Since spending about 2 weeks with the product, we are pleasantly surprised with all the extra functionality and comfort it has over our older machine. Not only does… Read more

the functions deliver in its simplicity of use, but the little things also add up. Aligning the handle of the mug once the milk is heated; soft and relatively silent door opening/closing; are just a few examples of how this machine has provided a little more comfort for us. The food weighing and automatic power/time calibration is surprisingly accurate for the dishes we normally cook in the microwave. With the extra cookbook provided by whirlpool along the extended warranty, we highly recommend this product as an excellent return on investment. you will most certainly make the most out of your $480 investment.

Twenty Plus Years of Satisfaction – My 3rd Whirlpool with crisp function but the 1st with 6th sense convection. So easy to cook just about any dish you could think of in a fraction of the time with perfect results not to mention ease of cleaning with just a quick wipe with a damp cloth if need be. No wonder you never see Whirlpool advertised they sell themselves by word of mouth about their innovative features. P.T.P Show details

Best kitchen appliance I’ve ever bought! – I have only owned the Whirpool 29L Crisp N’ Grill JQ280IX convection microwave for a couple of weeks and I really only began using it over this last week. It took me a week or two to wrap my head around the fact it wasn’t your basic microwave and that I could use it for something other than just heating up a heat wheat pack, like cooking dinner!… Read more

So far absolutely loving all of the features. The included accessories are awesome but I wish the steam bowl was just that bit bigger.

The microwave meets all the family needs – We have replaced our well used 15 year old Whirlpool crisp n grill. The new oven is better as the oven size is 50% bigger and has upgraded features. The ability to reheat a cup of coffee, heat a frozen pie with crispy pastry, to baking a cake or roast a family dinner, demonstrates its flexibility. Being energy conscious we see the microwave as energy efficient compared to a conventional oven. Show details

I love my new Crisp and Grill MWC25WH – I never thought it would be so easy to cook pizza, heat a pie & also cook chicken shaslicks and much more. It has made such a difference to the time I spend in the kitchen. Plus it saves me power as I don't need to use my oven as often. Show details

Very quiet and powerfull – This microwave is a real improvement from previous models. Very quiet and efficient. Crisp always comes out perfectly. We upgraded because previous whirlpool door started coming apart, unfortunately this model has not fixed the design and glass may separate again. Hopefully it is built stronger. Show details

Broken on 2 occasion – The first Whirlpool we bought was about 15 years ago. It lasted for 12 years. We purchase the JQ280 in 2016 within 2 years it crashed and could not be repaired. It was replaced early this year. Today it crashed again with flash of light and terrible sound. The shop is taking it away and will give us our money back.  Show details

I would never be without one – This is my third Whirlpool Crisper Microwave oven. Absolutely love it. You can cook just about anything in it. Is so handy to cook frozen food that needs to be crispy. Saves so much time and electricity. Would highly recommend to busy families and also single households who just need to cook small amounts quickly at a time.  Show details

A tried and tested convection microwave - well worth the price if it lasts as long as my old one did – My previous convection Whirlpool died after I hit the plastic start button too hard in a fit of pique. It was close to 20 years old and still going strong. After buying an LG which started playing up just out of its two year warranty, I passed it along to someone else who only needed the convection function and was delighted to see I could get… Read more

a Whirlpool again at Good Guys. I still had the racks, crisping tray and handle from the old Whirlpool, and the recipe book translates well. The new Whirlpool hopefully will last as long as the other one. I do almost all of my baking in the convection microwave due to superior evenness in browning. If you don't already have a convection microwave you are missing out. Cooking a properly browned chook has never been faster using the combined microwave and forced air (convection) function. I got the extended warranty which I hope not to have to use.

Pretty good – I have been using this for around 6 months now and seems pretty good and 6 sense works good as well. This crisping tray non stick can get scratched easy so try not to cut things in ot IE pizza etc.Make sure you leave plenty of room around this as it can get quite hot on the convection side of things.  Show details

Guess Whose Mum Doesn't Have a Whirlpool? – Whirlpool were once a very reliable American made appliance. Now they are made in China and assembled with LG components. Ours broke down after just 1 year. The microwave looks nice and has many features but they seem to be cutting corners with the electronics inside. Very disappointing given it was not a cheap no name brand.  Show details

This is great, very versatile – I bought the Whirlpool 29L Crisp & Grill Convection Microwave because my microwave needed replacing. It is the first time I've bought a Convection Microwave and will never regret my decision. I found my children were turning on our large oven to warm up one or two things for a snack here and there which was wasting a lot of electricity. Buying… Read more

this means they can turn it on and not wait long for what they want warmed up and it'll be crisp if needed too. I love the idea of using it as either a microwave or a normal oven. I wouldn't, of course, cook a huge turkey in there but it's fantastic for things like pasties, pizzas and things like that. It is priced at $499 at the Good Guys which is where I bought it from, which is a little lower than most other comparable products I looked at.

Whirlpool JQ280IX – Purchased from The Good Guys on-line e-bay store to go with my new kitchen which was installed about a week ago. Within 24hours I received a call from the Capalaba Store who had them in stock and would be dispatching asap. Its taken a bit of getting used to but with the added advantage of the previous crisp and grill models (this is my 4th) have… Read more

been able to sort things out. Yet to use the convection settings. With the comment above advising that this model had been discontinued, I called Whirlpool who advised not discontinued, just awaiting stock. It is however now made in China, but at least it works and I'm happy with it. I agree with Judy (May28 2016) the VIP34 model was probably the best because it had a timer on it which appears lacking in the later models (unless I'm missing the know-how on how to use it), still my oven has a timer which I can use if required. The clock on this model is much easier to reset should there be a power failure, unlike the Gusto which I found had to be switched off at the power to reset. With no water to the new kitchen for a time, I packed up the old Gusto (previous microwave model) to ensure I used the new one and practised on reheating and the odd frozen meal. Now its only taken me about 15-20 years to figure out about the JET setting rather than just heating on 750 all the time and complaining about it (lets just call that a blonde senior moment on my part!!)

Very disappointed – Was looking forward to finally getting hold of a whirlpool crisp and grill- hard to come by so found one on eBay that had been "used once". Don't know if they had the same problem as me, but on the crisp function flames were visible inside coming from the top element. Immediately turned off the power and the flames continued. Whirlpool JQ280 inferior to previous 12yr old model – As my previous VIP34 convection microwave was so good I naturally turned to the same brand for a replacement when its magnetron could not be replaced but JQ280 is a major disappointment! Firstly unlike previous model manufactured in Sweden it is made of lightweight inferior materials, does not heat above 220degrees, takes longer to attain… Read more

convection heat required, control knob had to be replaced within 1 week as it kept falling off, clock function useless as it keeps losing 15mins/week, and now after only just over 12 months use spasmodically turns itself off before set time has been reached. I miss my old reliable VIP34 which never needed a service call!

Sadly it seems Whirlpool has dropped its quality control to achieve lower pricing .

Cheap great cooking. by a whirlpool microwave crisp grill – Please do not discontinue your Whirlpool Microwave crisp grill as it is the best microwave on the market I have had 2 of them and my dad has had two of them they cook everything with amazing results from crispy chips to Bacon ,roast lamb, vegetables. custards, cakes, and crispy pastry for a tiny power cost.

My favourite new toy in the kitchen! Love it! – After several attempts to find a good convection microwave (previously had an LG Solordom for few years and also tried a breville one which was also average and sent back for refund after couple days use) I finally found one that does everything well! It has enough power in microwave mode to be comparable to a standard microwave, and the other… Read more

functions all work great. My favourite is the Crisp function which cooks crispy chicken tenders from frozen in about 7 minutes with no pre-heating required. Grill also works well for cheese toasties and the convection function works as it should and heats up quicker than our large oven. I agree with other review that the feet on it could have more grip as ours does slide around a bit on the shelf, but otherwise its great, although it was tough to find, had to purchase the floor model at The good guys and they said they were not going to get any more stock, so if you can find one definitely grab it! Only had it for a few weeks now but hopefully will last longer than the previous LG.

Good but not great – Recently bought this over the smaller GT286 IX, due to its larger capacity and power options. What's wrong with it, you may ask? Secondly, the microwave continues to cook after the timer is lapsed. I find this be… Read more ·  1
