Don't buy – This is my first heat pump dryer and I won't buy another. I bought it because the condensation from my old dryer was really bad even when I opened a door. The only good thing about this dryer is that it collects the water but there is still too much condensation to close the door while it is running. There was also a bad smell in the machine when… Read more
I got it. They told me it would go away with use but it never has and my clothes tend to have the same smell after using it. I'm assuming it's a mildew smell and I can't seem to get rid of it from my dryer or the clothes but when you live in Victoria the clothes line isn't always possible to use. The worst thing about the dryer is that it takes around 4 to 5 hours to dry if you dont have a big load. This is not great when you want to wash all your clothes, sheets and towels over a weekend. I can't see how this machine can be cheaper when you have to run it for so long to dry your clothes. The quality also isn't there for this machine which is a shame for a brand that was so popular not that long ago.
Faulty machine, beware! – I bought mine a little over 3 months ago and i noticed it was no longer drying clothes. i contacted the company whom i bought it from and they said that there was a component breakdown and one of the major parts needed to be completely replaced! And that this requires they remove the machine from my house to work on it and order spare parts! For a… Read more
new machine?! this isn't what you expect from a new machine that costs this much! This can't be an isolated incident! So disappointed! I expected better!
Whirlpool heat pump 9kg sense – The dryer take 4 to 5 hours to dry sheets. In winter they still dry faster on the line here in south east qld. Useless. Don’t go with a heat pump dryer. I wish we didn’t buy one. It was never explained how long they take to dry something. Specially when most of the time you are wanting to use the dryer to speed up the process. Please whirlpool tell me how to use this machine to make it dry faster. I’m going out of my mind Show details
Good, but over-priced, do not recommend at this price – I've had this dryer since about the middle of last year. I hadn't really used it because I was unsure about the energy cost. I've started to use it more seriously and it is quite impressive. However, it is grossly over-priced. As soon as I purchased it, the price was reduced by about $200, so I was unimpressed! That aside, the components are, to… Read more
be frank, quite flimsy and I now wonder whether I would have been better off going for the Bosch, which has a solid glass door. Or a Beko, much cheaper, which gets rave reviews and even has an internal light. My dryer came with a dent and deep scratch, hidden underneath some packing tape, so it wasn't revealed until it was a bit too late to exchange or get a discount. How did it pass QC?
As to performance, it has a lot of functions, including reverse tumbling and is Woolmark approved. It also has an express setting. However, what you don't know until you play around with it is that most of the extra functions rarely work because the dryer overrides your choice. I note that the Bosch permits timed drying as its own function, whereas this one only works after choosing but one other function. You can't choose the level of drying, either, mostly because it defaults to its own settings. I've found the best way to dry, say sheets, is to just use the automatic setting, then before that cycle is completed, after an hour or so, use a timed cycle of very hot air to finish the drying. This works well.
On the plus side, it dries relatively quickly and the sheets don't ball up. It's also reasonably quiet, but occasionally gets a bit noisy when it's going through the cycle. But I just can't recommend it at this price point. In fact, it's turned me off purchasing other Whirlpool products because I'm not convinced the QC is what it ought to be for such expensive white goods. Obviously, I can't vouch for its longevity, but I don't feel that it will be long-lasting. Edit, 21.05.2023: Caveat emptor - buyer beware! There are scratches on the inner drum just behind the door that I hadn't noticed because, surprise, surprise, they were also well hidden. I might claim this on warranty, though that will be more trouble than its worth. So, as I said, poor quality and I will never buy Whirlpool products again! Maybe I just got a lemon, maybe it was where I purchased, but I don't care, I won't risk it.
