I hadn't used Whywait for a few years but had some major problem with a toilet they installed over ten years ago. I spoke to Gary and he not only remembered the installation but talked me through how to turn off the water and then organised the repair. Great service once again.
A job well done – Needed help with pipe issue rang the office nice lady who advised they would attend to the issue same day. David attended and did a terrific job . Well done for great service.
Exorbitant pricing for a hose down a pipe – $66 call out fee, which is fine. 20m length of pipe with a blockage, just needs a power wash. $700! For a hose down a pipe? Tell him he’s dreaming.
Ripoff – $364 for a 30 minute job. Recently in my absence, my wife called a plumber to do a similar job and he charged $144. I knew I did not have to accept the quote but the main supply was leaking, so I had no option to get a timely fix. It will never happen to me again.
Don't Use These Thieves – A week and a half ago we had Whywait Plumbing come around to unblock our sewer line. All good for the week and a half and then the sewer line started backing up again. I called them to come out and do what we had paid $506 for in the first place but they said that it would be a whole new charge. No other trade would charge twice to the same job. … Read more
Part 2: I have contacted the manager of Whywait yet again to explain that I have the same problem only to be told yet again that they would be charging me as if it was a new job, wouldn't come and check there work or admit that they hadn't done the job properly in the first place. I have since had to get another plumber, Fallon Plumbing, out to clear my sewer line and behold they found that the roots (see photos below) that Whywait were supposed to clear were still blocking the drain. When I told Fallon Plumbing what had happened they even gave me an extra discount to compensate for the double payment. They also guaranteed their work.
Prompt service – Same day service, prompt and obliged with a leak check as well. Courteous and fuss free payment option . They provide a range of check up as well as emergency service needs
A Plumber You Should With No Hesitation – Whywait Plumbing are an extremely professional and reliable business. Making a booking is so simple. A $60 call out fee is taken but then offset against the final bill. They turn up on time and keep you advised of the appointment. Upon arrival, and after inspecting the work, they give you a written quote for approval. They work quickly,… Read more
efficiently and keep you informed as necessary. The plumber was accompanied by an apprentice who handled a simple task and then was asked to explain to me exactly what he had done.....a very professional approach to training.
Great quality service – I have been a service partner with WhyWait Plumbing for several years now and have found them to be consistently dependable, delivering a superior level of service. Their response times are excellent, I always know when they are coming and the quality of work is always excellent. I have never had to clean up after them and their advice is honest and realistic. I can happily recommend. Show details
Apologies – Regarding last review I have spoken to the actual owner of the company who has listened to my complain and helped me out he was never told about the complaints and it was unfair for me to comment I have had work done in the past by Why Wait Plumbing which we are very happy with regards Sue Parsons Thank You Brad Show details · 2
Ridiculous prices, arrogant staff – Needed replacement hot water system in a rental property. Rep tried to con me into moving it to a different area of the property, got a second quote and it was half the price and put exactly where the original was originally installed. But I still had to pay their rip off call out fee. Show details
Shower mixer replacement – Plumber D. W was very informative and professional in his manner. Fixed shower mixer x2 quickly and cleaned up afterwards. Gave exact pricing before work commenced. Good job! Can completely recommend Whywait.

DO NOT use this company – Cost a fortunate, did not complete the job. And most importantly left with exposed electrical wiring. When I phone for help to fix the job they had started they refused and yelled at me and told me to get a new dishwasher instead after paying $1200 over two call outs

Ripped off and had no idea – I was quoted $66 for someone to come out to provide a quote to fix my solar hot water system, I received a call from a plumber at my dwelling informing me that the call out fee is now $200 because he had to check my plumbing?, no call to discuss beforehand, I didnt ask for him to check the house pipes, it has already been approved by the plumbing… Read more

An Absolute Rip Off!!!!!! – A 50 litre hot water tank replaced for $1900!!!! Unfortunately my very elderly father was too frail of mind to understand that he was completely ripped off. He was given the usual run around described by other unfortunates on this site. BEWARE!!!!
Bushrangers (Highway Robbers) Still Exist in Queensland – Had Whywait Plumbing check my continuous flow gas hot water service which was not heating and I agreed it needed replacement. They gave me a quote, could not find stock locally and said it would take 3 or 4 days to come in. I checked with the office to ask what they had quoted since there was only a code on the quote form; was told identical unit… Read more
to what I had (a Bosch). My wife also checked with the plumber while at the house and got the same answer. Unit arrived as expected, and install was arranged for next day. All good so far. Guys arrived, I had earlier phoned the office and asked if they could install a bathroom basin tap I had purchased while they were on site, no worries.
I was busy elsewhere, so just let them do their job. All done, then comes the bill! I had agreed to the quote $1680 for the hot water, but then they charged me an unbelievable (and unjustifiable) $340 for a 15 minute tap install while they were already on site for a tap I had supplied !! "That's our standard fee" was the only response, even when I called the office to complain, same story, "That's what it costs us, that's our standard charge" No interest in discussion, obviously well skilled in stonewalling tactics to keep repeating the same line until you hang up.
I was not happy, then I went outside to look at the hot water: Not only did they install a completely different unit to what they had quoted and confirmed to me (and what I had before) it is not even the same size and does not fit correctly in the recess; on top of that it is fitted out of alignment. I had a Bosch, they quoted a Bosch, then installed a different size and capacity Rheem without so much as a whisper to me that was what they were doing.
So, ended up I got what I found was an $800 (retail) hot water service that I did not order, did not agree to and was not quoted on installed for $1680, and my own tap installed for $340 by a mob of highway robbers that haven't got the gumption to discuss anything once they have your money. Good old Ned Kelly would be proud. Guess who I will use next time I need a plumber -NOT. Approximate cost: $2020
Absolute Rip Off!!! – Called why wait plumbing to connect a laundry sink and a macerator. Young Plumber shows up today, who was pleasant enough, but didn’t seem overly confident in completing the job. He thought the job would cost about $1000 and he had quoted for about 5 hours work. Although high, I thought because I’m under a time constraint to have the work… Read more
completed that I would pay that amount. Actual written quote was nearly $5000! I called the manager to ask if he could explain the quote as I thought it may of been a mistake! All he would say is that it what it will cost! No explanation, no discussion, just a blanket response of thats what it will cost! I was actually supplying most of the materials so couldn’t for the life of me see where they got $5000 from. I guarantee the plumber himself won’t see anywhere near $5000 so the company is just blatantly ripping people off! Be wary of using this company!!! Complete rip off!!!
Excellent same day service – I highly recommend Whywait Plumbing Services. Friendly, efficient and cost effective. A significant amount of water was flowing out around our water metre - within 4 hours of requesting a service the leaks were identified and repaired with no fuss, I will most certainly use your services again Lynne Ormeau
Excellent service – We recently used Whywait Plumbing for a water leak. Brad was great over the phone, when Dion came out he fixed the water leak straight away. Highly recommend Whywait Plumbing
Most professional plumber on the Gold Coast – I don't understand the negative reviews for this company. Last week our kitchen sink completely blocked and we called two plumbers who said they had cleared the drain and a day later it was blocked drain again! In frustration (and late on a Friday afternoon as we were having a grand final part the next day), I called Whywait Plumbing. Gary… Read more
answered and was incredibly helpful. He then sent Nathan out who retrieved nothing short of a small tree from the drain pipe outside. I can't believe the other two plumbers missed this. In all my time on the Gold Coast I have not encountered more helpful, friendly tradespeople. Highly recommend for a professional service.
Totally Ripped off – This company totally ripped me off. I had a dripping bathroom tap which was one of duel sinks. I was quoted a rather high price but went ahead with Whywait Plumbing as they were there on the spot and I was busy with other things. When I returned home I discovered the tap they replaced wasn't the same as the sister sink. On ringing the company I… Read more
was told by a woman... not a hundred percent sure of her name but think it was Michelle that I would have to pay for a new second tap as the one they replaced the faulty one with was a spare they had in their premises and they didn't have another. In total it cost me over $600 to replace one dripping tap. WAIT people and get someone else.

Do not use this company!! – Very disappointed with the company and how childish they are ! Have had issues that have been paid for in full and still not fixed now when ever I call them they hang up on me. Not happy

Memorable....For all the wrong reasons!!! – Needing a plumber on 9th May 2018 I went to the go to man...Mr Google. Up came whywaitplumbing so I called and scheduled a visit to one of my investment properties in Parkwood. 4214 I asked for the Plumber to call once he was on site and to advise what he intended doing to clear the (blocked drainage). I took the called from (Plumber) and he… Read more
said he had a waterblaster and it would easily clear the problem. Before hardly gasping for breathe he went on to say that I had better take his Annual Service Contract and this was only going to cost me $180 but I would need to agree to this prior to the work beginning. I declined and said I was only interested in getting the blockage cleared. Then he said ok. thats $566.31 have you got your credit card there!!!
Omgoodness this man has no idea how to encourage business or build clientelle and confidence in workmanship.
Next phone call I got was that he had cleared the blockage but discovered all my piping would need to be excavated, pulled out and replaced. (Of which I declined to accept). (he sent me an added invoice for this work and that totalled a further $3928.57 if he was to proceed). PLUS as the job would involve pulling up my concrete pad none of this work was included in the quote, plus there was a ream of other supposed/maybe/could happen/ situations that are also not included....but can be arranged at extra cost.
This all got too much for me and I rung into whywaitplumbing to express my total dissatisfaction with this Tradie allocated to my job.
I spoke with a lady called [name removed] and she apologised and explained they are a firm that Contracts their work out to numerous tradies, but, she would pass my words on.
As the name implies WHY WAIT PLUMBING ....this is the very reason one....Should wait!!
Do your research...flick over the page on these cowboys!
Terrible service - both technical and customer service – I had a plumber named Nathan out from Whywait Plumbing Services on 10/03/17 to rectify a broken pipe from our rainwater tank to our water pump. While Nathan was here I also asked about a dripping shower head, installing a water float to our trickle feed (town water) tank, a broken downpipe, a dripping external tap and installing a strainer to our… Read more
hot water system cold inlet. Nathan talked for a very long time about most items and said that he would replace the whole external tap instead of just replacing the washer (seems very wasteful to me as the tap was fine and I ended up just replacing the parts myself for a total of $5). He also told me that we could fix the broken downpipe ourselves (I could tell he didn't want to do it, he wasn't just trying to save us money). He did actually do some of the work but we found many problems afterwards. The pipes he replaced around the rain water tank were leaking water at the joins, he put green glue everywhere, down the pipes, down the side of the rainwater tank, over the pump, etc, the water float in the trickle feed tank didn't actually work (he came back to try to fix it but still couldn't and blamed it on the float but when the people from the parts manufacturer came out both said that it wasn't a good plumbing job and that it wasn't a problem with the float - just how it had been installed - which I knew anyway). He also didn't remove all of the tape from the water pump connectors before he reconnected them to the new pipes he put in so some of the tape got caught in the pipe leading to one of our toilets so it wouldn't fill back up. Luckily he was still packing up when I noticed this problem so he removed the pipe and found the tape causing the problem. He didn't end up charging me for that part (luckily) as he'd already done up the paperwork and I'd paid for it and I didn't have the $50 cash on me that he was going to charge me (for which I wouldn't have received a receipt I'm sure). We don't use the shower that he did a $138.00 repair on (which is just their standard tap service) and only just started using it a week ago and the dripping shower head is back again. I have rung their office a few times now about the issues and Michelle has always answered. She does not appear to know what good customer service about and I was told there was no kind of 'warranty' timeframe at all for a dripping tap repair. I said that I didn't want to pay another $138.00 for it not to be fixed again and that I had a lot of problems with their service and that I wouldn't be using them again. Michelle said, "okay" and that's it. I would be very concerned to have somebody with that level of customer service answering my phones if I owned that company. The first time I rang was a day after Nathan had been out and it was quite apparent that Michelle didn't want to hear that the service I had received from Nathan wasn't good. Maybe they should go by the notion that the customer is always right unless proven otherwise.
I wasn't going to write a review as I normally only like to write good reviews but with service this bad I just had to warn other people. I was charged over $1,200 for this terrible service also.
