2 Gary966  · Junk, buy a decent brand – Choke lever broke after a few starts. Bump head disintegrated.
4 Terence S.  · Great product – Light and easy to use starts with one pull just got to work out how to reload the line also a lot quieter than the 2 stroke.
5 xr67falcon  · Found fantastic – Amazing unit & working fantastic for me. Love not having to mix up a fuel mix to use it
5 Shaun  · Very good copy of the Honda umk425 model great machine would recommend anyone to purchase one of the – 100 percent perfect

Terrible snipper – Worked well in the beginning but always noticed some fuel leaking out of the tank. Now after 12 months and maybe 6 to 8 uses it won't idle and trimmer head won't spin despite the motor running. I replaced the spark plugs, cleaned out the filters and looked in the carby for any build up but nothing noted of concern. This machine is a waste of money and will be dropped in the nearest bin. Dont buy

Not bad but needs some love – The starter pawls are what need an upgrade. They broke for me on the first use. The plastic can't take the heat. So that's easily solved. I bought metal ones to replace the plastic ones. All i had to do was measure them up and find the same size. Now it works fine. It costs about 10 dollars for 2 new metal starter pawls of the same size. (I… Read more

suppose this would void your warranty lol)

The only other trouble with this machine is that it needs a bit of adjustment with air flow. (Maybe yours is a little different, but for mine, the mixture definitely needed a tune) but i found once the engine got up to full operating temperature, it ran a bit sluggish and weak, so i adjusted the choke lever from hot back towards the cold direction, progressively restricting air flow and making the mixture more rich, until it felt like it had power again and the revs would jump up quickly instead of going down first before coming up and losing revs as soon as it touched grass. So i marked the new position for air flow, and it now runs perfect with a good amount of power.

Also, if anyone is having trouble starting this thing on cold starts, you could try 0w-30 or 5w-30 oil instead of the recommended 10w-30 oil. I usually use 5w-30 and it starts easy as. (This also might void your warranty lols)

I think it's a good whipper snipper but this might not be the best whipper snipper for someone that just wants their product to be perfect straight away.

I have 2x of these. One is used weekly in a hot climate and another used fortnightly in a more temperate climate. 1x was bought brand new and the other 2nd hand. The one I bought brand new is now 5 years old. Maintenance involves changing the oil yearly and re-greasing the bevel gear. I can say for sure that the choke mechanism is very flimsy and… Read more

breaks easily. The red lever has broken on both units I have within the first year. This is a common cause for cold starting and idling issues. The fuel lines are also made 'on the cheap' and after many uses, have collapsed or broken inside the fuel tank.

Thankfully, there is a way to find replacement parts. But you can't always find it just by searching Yardking 883322. Some other reviewers refer to these as a Honda clone. But this trimmer is more accurately a clone of the "Bushranger L2601 Straight Shaft Trimmer". The all-important pull starter is a direct fit and was in stock my local mower shop. If the carburettor and choke is working properly, it will start pretty easily.

Yardking line trimmer not ideal long term – At first really good, appears high quality, easy to maintain, long term after 6-12 months when parts break unfortunately you’re at a loss, parts can not be found. Please do your research. Show details

Bang for the dollar – So purchased the yardking line trimmer from bunnings for $219.00 more out of curiosity about the performance of the 4 stroke engine and quality of components, I already have a Honda umk435 so figured I'd give the yardking to my daughter, first impressions the split shaft isn't precisely aligned you must check that the shaft goes into the square… Read more

drive on the powerhead (if not aligned properly it will miss the square on powerhead drive, the trigger mechanism does feel a little cheap but does work well so bonus there, the fuel pickup line in the tank isn't located correctly from assembly as when I tested it, it run out of fuel on angle position upon further investigation the line needed to be moved a little in the tank, the engine does perform well and has plenty of grunt on par with my GX25 bent shaft, however it is noisy considerably more then my Honda units, but its also $400 cheaper then those units if you just want a unit to do a bit of trimming around the house then I could recommend it, if not I'd recommend to look elsewhere.

Appears to be an excellent buy – This unit was easy put together from sealed box purchased from Bunnings for $198.00. Purchased as a gift for my adult daughter and the 4 stroke no mixing fuel concept appealed to me so that the one fuel container can be used for both lawnmower and the trimmer. Trimmer started first go once oiled and fuelled. We did my edges and general tidy up of… Read more

a large yard 600m block in Sydney used to show her how to use it and I wanted to test it to make sure she knew how it should be used and identify issues and there were none. Cannot fault it for the price and value. Idles well and runs strong. Not too heavy and steady 4 stroke power used for edging along driveway. This NEW Yard King represents excellent value. How long it lasts is something I am yet to see but at a quarter of the price for a known brand 4 stroke if we get 3 years out of it then it represents good buying. I used product review to search up different units so thought it only fair to then review the one I ended up buying.

2 years and still going strong. Heavy compared to a 2 stroke – I bought this 2 years ago as an accidental replacement to my 2 stroke. My intention was to by a battery powered unit. This line trimmer came out at a much better price ($135.00 - on special) and simply has more power than a battery powered unit. It has been a loyal unit so far - never let me down. Considering ht price point there isn't much to… Read more ·  2

complain about.

Just to preface - I use/perform the following for the line trimmer: - 98 premium unleaded - 10w-40 Castrol Magnatec oil - Now using aftermarket string/line (PowerFit brand) - Cleaned every 3 months - Stored standing

Good: - Easy to start - No issues so far - Apparently a good Honda copy according to other reviews - Powers through the toughest of grass and weeds - Split shaft - great for transporting between properties - Great quality finish for a cheapie

Not so good: - Fairly loud - Heavy (compared to my old 2 stroke) - Can stall if not warmed up properly in cold weather with full throttle applied, once warmed up no problems at all.

Great machine – The machine is a four stroke so like all motors it requires a pre start inspection prior to starting to ensure continued performance. It is quiet, runs smooth and is well balanced. stars well after the required priming. All the bad reviews I read are obviously from people that need to read the instructions and to lean about motors. It is a very comfortable unit to operate. Show details

Nothing wrong with it – Yes you have to put some oil in when new - be a man, own some oil. Yes it vibrates - be a man, you’re holding an engine. Winding on line sucks, but so does cleaning the toilet - grow some kahunas like your grandpa had instead of your feeble sack that quivers in fear at the thought of working outside the comfort of your air con office. Ppl who complain are lazy and scared of work, and being a man. Show details

Less than 2 years old and it keeps stalling – Bought it from Bunnings and I used it occasionally. Now it keeps stalling and getting hard to start it up. No more warranty and replacement is difficult. Avoid this trimmer if possible..

It has hardly been used – The petrol tank is leaking now close to where it is screwed on, it might be the user but the line trimmer doesn't come out without turning off the machine and pulling the line out myself Show details

Trimmer for parts – Hi I’m happy to sell mine to someone for parts. I just bought a Ryobi battery trimmer. A plastic ring related to the pull trigger/start mechanism broke - otherwise all other components are sound.

Not a bad buy – I bought this machine recently and my first impressions were not good. That was until I discovered that the unit was supplied without oil. I think this should be in big red letters on the front page of the supplied brochure. After filling with oil the machine has ran perfectly for me. I suggest all those who complain about the starter mechanism… Read more

stop pulling the hell outta it...a gentle pull is all that is required. YES the unit is heavy but I think this is rectified by using the shoulder harness. Over all happy with my purchase...PS keep an eye on the oil level...mine seems to drop pretty quickly.

Do not buy this product – Choke lever broke after a few uses. It is extremely flimsy. Also it's quite heavy, compared to other line trimmers.not suitable for people who are older. Also don't buy it from Bunnings as they don't help you in any way if you have lost your receipt. Show details

Two months. Replacing to another model – Lasted two months, not even worth the warranty. Needed to keep pulling apart to get the job done. Being a 4 stroke it should perform better. Unfortunately not. In my opinion a waste of money. Show details

It got a "1" because that is the lowest the ratings go' – As far as starting goes it drew blood on me, 2 out of 3 time I tried to start it. More often than not, I ended up withy a blister on my middle finger. Once running, which hasn't been very often, it lacks power to cut lawn. For the CC size if the beast I would have expected more action at ground level. Over all just not a good machine. Show details

Don’t waste your money – Horrible purchased from Bunnings 2 weeks ago for $220 first time I used it cut out on me a few times go to use it a second time and you can barely move a few metres without it cutting out, the engine struggles to get through normal grass and losses power all the time, never again taking it back and spending the extra few dollars on another ryobi that lasted me 6 years  Show details

Never again YardKing – Bought a yard king 4 stroke petrol for $220 from Bunnings. It worked for a year (used only 6 times) died on 14th month, just after warranty period. Took it back to Bunning, they did not want to hear anything as it was after warranty period. Took it to a repair place they checked and told the motor is dead so not worth repairing. Bought with lot of expectation but was very disappointed, never again. Show details
