We installed 3 Zip hydrotaps for our new home. For years we used a different brand but were convinced to buy Zip. The good points are the hot water pressure is good and it looks good. The bad are that it stupidly warms the room temp water as it goes through so you can’t use it for normal drinking water without filling a jug and putting it in the… Read more
fridge. Also I agree with the cutoff for the hot water but it also cuts off the room temp water so you can’t fill anything of a decent size. I also find the security cut out is too awkward and the lack of a moveable spout are disadvantages. So results are mixed. Next time I would probably research other Brands.
Love my Zip Hydro tap as it is so easy to use and so little to do around it
Don't buy. Apart from looking the part they are noisy and terribly unreliable.
Strongly recommend Zip HydroTap – Very convenient and highly sufficient for all daily family uses Show details
BOIL YOUR KETTLE INSTEAD – If I could give it a Zero I would. This is the second Zip machine we have had. In our last house we had no problem with the machine in 5 years. In this house we have had the Zip tap with sparkling water for 6.5 years and at least every few months it breaks down. We live 1.5 hrs from Brisbane and they come here twice a week so we cannot get a… Read more
servcice call for weeks ahead. Our plumber had it in his work shop for 6 weeks 4 years ago while he had to fight with Zip to cover the costs. He finally got on to a manager with some common sense who covered the warranty. The machine keeps stopping due to "water leak" but there is no leak. A few weeks ago Zip recommended a local Company who were really good but had to take the machine away. Their customer service is excellent and leaves Zip for dead. We have just returned from 5 weeks away after having used the machine for a couple of weeks before we left. We have been home for three days and Lo! and behold same old problem. I am ready to throw the whole machine to the tip and stop spending any more money. I could have bought a new machine twice over for what we have spent. Zip needs to stop selling these machines until they work out what is wrong with the construction of it. Back to boiling the kettle again and bottled soda water. We got the soda water tap so we could save on buying plastic bottles and the cost. I could have bought thousands of bottles for what this machine has cost. My advice to anyone considering a Zip tap is DO NOT BUY. YOU WILL BE SORRY
WHAT A BRILLIANT, CLEVER PRODUCT – We just bought the new G5 Hot, Cold Sparkling Zip after having two G4's that have worked well over the many years we have had them. We are so happy that we bought a new Zip again as the new unit works really well and is quiet. Cannot recommend this product highly enough. Show details
Bad service – Recently spent $4500 on a zip tap only to find it was not installed properly and started leaking( kitchen was 6 months old and spent $44000) Called service same day and explained I needed to turn water off to kitchen and could they send someone to fix urgently ( considering install by zip cost $499 and tool less than 2 hours and all parts were… Read more
included in the purchase ) basically told not today and received text that service booked in for 6 days later Called next day and explained again the situation and not happy and asked to speak to manager but none available, advised if I need to come down to their office and make a scene I will, ended up calling back and sending someone 2 hours later Beware that they need to cut the bottom kitchen shelf as a vent and done the worst uneven cut possible, spoke to my kitchen provider and was advised this well swell up if it gets wet and water was leaking which luckily I noticed and rot away I advised by email twice as well as called to advise I need this rectified to prevent future decay … 4 weeks later still no response I ended up paying my kitchen cut to fix. Repairer he sent out advised he needed to replace panels on a 4 year old kitchen and basically needed to pull the sink cupboard apart as water damaged by same reason cost was around $900 So in short probably a good product but there service is crap and installation cost is well overpriced and don’t expect any help if anything Goes wrong Tom m North Strathfield
Dealing with Zip is so painful it puts you off buying their taps! – To be completely clear I don't have a problem with the tap or with the technicians who actually come out to service the taps. My problem is with the Zip administration. I've had a Zip tap for a number of years and have recently replaced my original tap with the Classic plus. My original tap stopped producing hot water. It took sometime to get… Read more
someone out to look at it and when they did I was told that it was obsolete and that they no longer had parts for it. The problem with this was that I had been signed up for a Hydocare agreement (at a cost of a bit over $700 each year) some years earlier and they kept getting me to renew it each year. The Hydrocare agreement covers parts and labour and a new filter each year. It turns out that they haven't had parts for my original tap for some years, so I've just been paying an enormous amount of money for a yearly filter change! It took days to try and talk to someone in the administration about but eventually they agreed that I would buy a new tap and they would then install it for free and refund me this year's Hydrocare agreement cost. The person that I had to deal with did not answer his phone, did not respond to messages left on his phone and did not respond to emails. Contacting other people in the company wasn't much help either as they insisted that I had to continue to deal with the original person. It has taken over 2 months to get the new tap installed and I'm still chasing a refund of the hydrocare agreement. Think twice before buying a Zip tap because if anything goes wrong with it they are pretty much impossible to deal with. They seem to lack any idea about even really basic customer service. Do not buy a tap directly from them as they only sell at the RRP! Buy from one of their stockists as they seem to discount the RRP considerably (I got my new one for over $1000 less than the RRP that Zip quoted me). Be very careful before you sign up for a Hydocare agreement. Check whether they actually have parts and can service the tap each year. Otherwise you're paying for a very expensive filter change and would be better to just save your money and spend it on a new tap when your old one dies.
Great product but breaks down regularly – We love our Zip hydrotap, we have had it for 5 years but it has needed many services unfortunately, so much so that we took out a gold membership service for several hundred dollars to avoid the regular call out and service fees. The latest call out we were told that it can’t be serviced as it was a 2013 model and they no longer have the parts… Read more · 2
however we bought it ‘brand new’ in 2017. The end result it was replaced with a descent year model and now working. ZIP do have outstanding technicians and probably biggest asset in my opinion. Techs name was Mark. A true gentleman, I think his the reason why I back ZIP now.
