Good for 3 years only – This washing machine (German made) worked well until after 3 years when it started to beep and the tap symbol started flashing, thinking there was a problem with either the water supply or outlet blockage. I had thoroughly followed the troubleshooting instructions in the manual and could find nothing wrong. The error always happens after the initial wash phase is finished and the machine takes in water for the first rinse. Sometimes the error is so bad that the machine pauses. I searched online for a solution and found that other customers had the same issue. The repair bill is just not worth the cost. When this machine dies I will stick to the LG brand which I have found to be a lot more reliable. Surely you would expect that a German made machine costing a premium would last a lot longer than 3 years, I am bitterly disappointed.

Despite Bosch approaching me upon reading this review, they have not contacted me yet

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $1,077.

I bought this washer on 08/11/2020 from JB Hi-Fi for $1005. I've had it for over five years now and use it, on average, 2–3 times per week. While it's been mostly great, it does have a few annoyances that stop it from getting a perfect score. The good stuff: - Most importantly, it washes clothes extremely well, and far better than my old washer.… Read more

Clothes come out cleaner and fresher, and it removes stains effectively (usually without any pre-treatment or soaking). This washer has yet to meet a garment it couldn't effectively wash.

- It's very quiet, even during high-speed 1400 RPM spin cycles, which do a terrific job of wringing out clothes at the end.

- The wash programs are easy to understand and customisable, allowing you to independently adjust water temperature, spin speed, and other settings. Cycles can also be paused to open the door and add a forgotten item without restarting the program from the beginning.

The bad stuff:

- After a cycle, quite a bit of moisture remains inside and underneath the detergent drawer. When the drawer is opened after a wash, some water also drips onto the bottom of the thick black rubber seal around the door opening. This means that after the final wash of the day, I need to use some paper towels to dry the detergent drawer (inside and underneath) as well as the rubber seal. I also leave the drum door open when the machine isn't in use to help it dry out and prevent any potential mould from developing.

- The "SuperQuick" program is very sensitive to the amount of detergent used. On two occasions, it produced excessive suds that the machine couldn't clear, getting stuck in a de-sudsing loop. Eventually, the suds expanded and overflowed from the front of the detergent drawer. This hasn't happened with any other program. My solution? I no longer use the "SuperQuick" setting.

- When washing small, uneven loads (for example, a single heavy item), the machine sometimes struggles to reach the highest spin speed (1400 RPM). It will attempt to ramp up, slow down, and then try again in a loop. My workaround is to avoid very small loads, or if I need to wash just one bath mat or towel, I add a few extra items to balance the load.

Worked reasonably well while it lasted but with low to moderate use it only worked for 2 years and then broke down. A very expensive purchase for 2 years worth of washing. I will never buy Bosch again. Show details

Beware - Make sure you register your appliance within 3 months of purchasing – Purchased in 2018 and after moving house September 2024 and having the transit bolts in, the machine started making a loud noise. Repairer came out to advise it wasn't the drum but the motor was on it's way out. As Bosch advertise so proudly of their 10 year motor warranty, I remembered it was still under this warranty. claim and sent the repairers recommendation of the new motor to Bosch. Bosch are now refusing to pay for the new motor as the product wasn't registered within 3 months of purchasing...something that completely slipped my mind with having a new baby in the house and The Good Guys never mentioned to me when it was purchased. Even though I have proof of purchase and it should be covered, they are using the "3 month registration" period to get out of it. Very unhappy and wouldn't be recommending a Bosch.

stable on the floor. Second it tears and wears clothes, especially the collars. Fortunately it was on sale in DJ, and I bought it in again. It is quiet running and not damage clothes like the top load one. It is has more models to select for different fabrics. Made in Germany and I expect it will work a long time. I am happy with energy rating which will save a lot compared with top load unit.

Does a Great job, however its the second time we have to replace the rubber! – Its the second time the rubber gets ripped during wash for no apparent reason, just the rubber part costs about $300 plus the cost to replace it. We had no jackets with zipper or anything hard, only towels in the machine when it ripped so no idea what causes it. Show details

It was going so well, until – We purchased a new Bosch Serie 8 washing machine about 5 years ago for just over $1,000. It was an expensive purchase for us, but we decided it was worth spending more on a well-regarded brand to enjoy many years of (hopefully) issue-free usage. Asides from a sock blockage in the early days, the machine was working without issues. It did a great… Read more

job of cleaning clothes, and was very quiet in operation.

A few days ago, a large puddle formed under the machine shortly into a cycle. Expecting a minor blockage or hose problem, we called out a repair tech at a cost of $150. We were surprised to be told the issue was not blockage, but several large cracks in the outer plastic tub, causing water to pour out. Technician said he'd never seen anything like it, except for damage caused during transit or transit bolts being left in. But the machine hadn't been moved since it was installed. We were told it's not economical to repair, despite the rest of the machine still looking good as new.

Bosch seem to take pride in offering a 10 year warranty on the advanced motors in these machines, but in this case it is the more basic components that have failed. I'm not sure if our next machine will be a Bosch. Despite working well over it's lifetime, we will be looking for more life from our next washer.

Great washing machine – Gravitated to this model as it was made in Germany and I trust it will last a long time. No frills washing machine that can handle up to about 8kg. replace. All good now. Hoping this will now last for a long time.

Update 4th March 2024: This is the second update. Again, I got caught out on a weekend. This time the machine went completely out during the wash cycle. Haven’t been able to turn the machine back on. So I emailed customer service to see what they have to say. Currently waiting on their reply.

Update 9 days later: Bosch organised for a technician to come out and check. When the guy turned the machine on (by this time the machine had stood unplugged) everything worked without fail. I ran a full wash after this with no issues. The only explanation is that the machine hadnt reset properly when we tried the quick wash the week earlier. Not quite sure what actually caused the error in the first place though, as the ‘flushing out’ of the machine and hoses didn’t wash anything out. Perhaps its the humidity up here, which impacts the electronics???

Original post: Decided to invest in a Bosch Serie 8, the German-made product, in the belief that the extra $$ would give us a quality and long-lasting item. We are now 3 month out of the 2year warranty and the machine is not draining water. It seems others here have the same issue, despite the appearance that there isn’t an actual blockage or fault with the pump. First, it displayed error code E18, which suggests a blocked drain. We did all the maintenance, drained the machine, cleared the filter, unscrewed the tap to ensure nothing is blocking the pump, checked that the little propeller in there is spinning, which it did (freely), checked the drain hose to ensure no kinks or debris in there. Next we got error code E83, which isn’t displayed on the BOSCH website for this machine, but an internet search suggests an issue with the circuit board. When we ran the quick wash again, E18 came up again. Obviously, all these things happened on a Friday afternoon/evening with no chance of speaking with a service person. Rang BOSCH on Monday morning, stated the problem, and was offered to book a technician to come out. When I asked if they could do something about the warranty (seeing that we were just 3 month out) I was told that an error code 18 is not covered under warranty anyway! That sounds very odd and if that is the case, please be aware of that. When I asked about the code 83, it was just ignored, despite the fact that we had the circuit board replaced circa 12month ago, when we had the first issue with the machine. Being disappointed is an understatement! My husband has a field day in mocking me for holding on to my German heritage and insistence on buying a German-made product. He went on Sunday and bought a Fisher&Paykel.

Unacceptable Bosch Serie 8 Washing Machine - A Total Letdown for a German Made Machine – I'm utterly disappointed and feel compelled to warn others about the Bosch Serie 8 washing machine. reliability.

To add insult to injury, my washing machine’s inverter failed after just 4 years of use. The repair cost is a ridiculous $420 - that's half of what I paid for this machine! It's outrageous to think a product branded as 'Made in Germany' – synonymous with quality – would fail so miserably in such a short time.

I am appalled by the inferior durability of Bosch compared to other brands. Their limited warranty and poor product lifespan are a slap in the face to any consumer. I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of Bosch. Don't be swayed by their reputation; it's a facade. There are far better and more reliable options out there. Do your research and choose a brand that values your investment and trust.

Bosch is certainly not it and I’ll be warning everyone not to purchase Bosch but instead a brand that has a much better warranty attached to it.

They honestly dont care about their customer nor they really want to look at their product issues . I am still waiting for the issue to be resolved. Mistake i made was that i just went with the reviews on appliances.com.au please check what is covered in the warranty. My sincere advice is avoid buying bosch product or you get extra warranty on the machine which covers for all the repairs. Else you will be in trouble paying heaps of money for their repairs. They ensure they are covered by defining terms in the warranty which gives customers no options but to suffer for the decision made to purchase their product.

Over Rated – I bought this based on reviews & being made in Germany, and my Samsung not lasting too long. Got to say I'm disappointed. If you are a big or tall guy, one pair of jeans is going to defeat the spin cycle often - as it seems it can't handle the balance of something that heavy if the rest of the load is t-shirts, tops etc. So it ends up spinning at half the pace and you pull out the load that is super heavy in comparison to my last machine.

Cleaning is nice enough, though might be slightly tougher on clothes than my last machine. Drum is smaller than others claiming 8kg. It is annoying the 'mixed cycle' is not the default option and you have to twist the dial halfway round and push another button just to do a basic 1 hr wash. Why wouldn't 'Daily Wash' be the default?? Not having a spin-only cycle is ridiculous - especially as it's what I often need given it doesn't work well in the first place and I want to take the jeans out and redo the rest.

Noise is fine, quiet enough if it's working well - lots of beeping as it struggles to deal with 7kg of wash though. TBH if I could swap it out for something else, I would. Guess I've got this for 8 years though. It better last that long for the price.

They then pulled the IDOS drawer out of the machine, cleaned it, and put it back in and it started throwing two new error codes about the drawer unit they'd just removed (the bosch intelligent detergent system).

The quote to fix the appliance with the IDOS and power module is $1100 + the $150 call-out fee (Sadly we only found the receipt with our extended warranty after they'd left).

We can pick up the same BOSCH Series 8 washing machine brand new for $995 at Good Guys. Our previous Whirlpool $500 washing machine lasted for 10+ years, a bit disappointed when you pay $1250 and the device lasts for half the duration of a cheaper model. Seems a waste too, to scrap a unit when it still looks as new as the day we bought it.

Update: JB wouldn’t honour the extended warranty as we were a little bit outside of it. In the end we had to buy a brand new machine.

Really disappointed – This is the most rubbish dryer I ever come across. They took it for repairs nothing happened. From day one getting error messages and stops. Customer service nil.

it tends to push early non dissolved detergent/softener to the side at the front side (I use liquid detergent/softener, as well as the liquid capsule, both have issues), but later the water would never fill enough to clean them up. This is the area clothes do not reach, but it will absorb back to clothes when you take them out of the washing machine after wash. - There is no 30 minute cycle, instead the 15 minute cycles runs on low speed spin which leave your clothes both dirty and wet. This is just bad. I had a Samsung, an LG, and a Fisher & Paykel before and none of them performed this badly. I bought a Bosch because a friend says their build quality is good (which, I cannot verify after comparing with others) but with the basic job not fulfilling, this is the first and last white goods I would ever buy from Bosch.
