Serie 8 WAW32640AU, great machine when working, quiet, efficient, good with delicates, but then the bearings went in the drum ( bosch call it the oscillating unit ). I often have fixed bearings, pumps etc in various white goods, I pulled it down ( 1hrs work ) only to find I couldn't split the outer drum to remove the inner drum to access the 70… Read more

dollar bearings. Guess why Bosch call it an oscillating unit, you have to buy the whole thing 650aud. I am livid, absolute joke you can't service it. Bearings should always be accessible for service or replacement. Bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer combo from Sydney showroom, Everything is serviceable IF it breaks. European rubbish is designed to be " environmentally friendly ", but you have to throw it in landfill when a set of bearings fail, I am over the hypocrisy.....

DO NOT waste your money on Idos – Our IDos unit is no longer working, so the washing machine will not automatically dose, fabric softener or washing powder. Service call was $160 to be told $500 to replace the faulty part! What a joke. This machine was expensive to purchase. Don’t buy it. Bosch don’t care about aftercare service. Especially with this well known fault! We can’t use the machine for its intended purpose. Show details

DO NOT BUY A BOSCH! Poor craftsmanship and constantly in need of repairs – This is my first Bosch washing machine and it is also the last. It was great for the first 2 years until the heating element malfunctioned. Not even 2 years and I already needed it repaired. I was under warranty so luckily, the repair was free. Then, the drain pump malfunctioned a year later. My warranty expired so I paid around $600 for the… Read more

servicing and parts. A year later, I was getting E81 errors. It was infrequent and I just did what the customer support advised me to; clean the detergent drawer and push it in/out again. Still, the E81 errors persisted.

Last month, there was a problem with the impellers but that one was on me. Still, I had to pay $165 to get it repaired. Now, I get E81 errors after every wash. I called customer support again and they told me to do the same things. I asked for a quote for repairs. It turned out to be $815. I did not go through with it.

So over the course of 6 years, this washing machine constantly had problems. I paid $765 for repairs and would've paid $1580 in total had I not gotten fed up with it. That's a whole new washing machine!

I do not recommend a Bosch to anyone. They are riding on past brand reputation based on my personal experience with this extreme disappointment of a washing machine.

A service tech with common sense – Bosch rejected our review on their website - not sure why? Our not so old washer WAY32540AU/28 decided to die after just on 5 short years. The message was 'close door' which we ordered and fixed a new part but the message continued, . I had a Bosch service tech come out and he too thought it was the lock until we told him it was replaced and… Read more ·  1

then it was diagnosed as the 'mother board.

This was going to cost over $550 to fix it with just 12 months on that particular part. We decided to buy a new washer. I was pretty down as we'd already spent $80 on a door lock ( as the machine was saying the door wasnt closing) which we fitted ourselves, but still the error continued. Now Bosch call out is $88 plus $10 for every six minutes. So as I was adding up the expense to have our machine diagnosed but still not fixed. It was going to be expensive! however to our delight and absolute surprise the Tech upon packing up said that there would be 'no cost' and it would be a 'good will' call out. I was pretty emotional that in this day and age where everything costs, he was walking out of here saying - no fee call out! What a nice guy. Bottom line - we went straight to Good Guys and purchased an new Bosch Washing Machine which has just been delivered. I guess if we had been charged a hefty call out fee for telling us the machine was a costly fix, I would have definitely bought another brand!! Fingers crossed that its lasts for a few more years than 5! - however I have just read all the bad reviews on this brand and hope that we haven't made the same costly mistake twice!

However ATM - Well done Bosch on your smart technicians. You've actually made more money out of me!

I’m actually in love with a washing machine – I can not fault this machine. It’s the third Bosch I’ve owned. The first lasted well for seven years before requiring service and being given to a family member. The second I was never happy with as it always twisted up our clothes. It died after two years and was refunded outside of warranty - thank you Bosch, incredible service. This machine is… Read more ·  1

my replacement and is streets ahead of the previous ones.

The iDos feature is more handy than you might expect and is one of the features I really love. I go through far less detergent than I used to and it’s so quick to get a load started. The machine is super quiet, effective, simple to use. Plenty of options to speed up a cycle or improve efficiency. The delicates cycle is perfect for our handwash clothes. Spinning clothes and towels on 1600 brings them out so much drier than any machine I’ve had in the past. They’ll dry on the line in a day, rather than two. My only advice is that you watch the recommendations for loading. If you choose a fast cycle, make sure you don’t load the machine too much.

Two questions I had about the machine prior to buying were is there a child lock (yes, see the tiny writing under the ‘finished in’ button) and can you spin without rinsing given they are on the same cycle (yes, deselect ‘rinse plus’ once you’ve set the cycle.)

I can’t rate this machine highly enough. I bought it based on the strength of its reviews and now I get why they are overwhelmingly positive. I LOVE this machine and would recommend it to anyone.

Love it! Handles the really dirty clothes too – Love this machine my only regret is I did not buy the bigger one. We have lots of pets inside so lots of dog hair and this machine handles it like a pro, 2 x dogs, 2 x kids and a tradie partner it’s seen it’s fair share of dirt over the years. Easy settings to use and the night wash is perfect if you want to do a load overnight without the finish beep. Show details

Great machine – I bought this from a couple heading off overseas, it was a year old. Could not find a soak program, but the hot hour wash with Sard does the job. Is a wonderful ‘set and forget’ trouble-free unit. The 1600 spin is fantastic. You can pause it to throw in forgotten items if the water isn’t too high. Idos fix maybe – Lots of negative reports on Bosch i-dos auto detergent not working. I fiddled with it for a couple of days & it seems to be working. I had seldom used it & just added detergent manually. I think this causes old detergent to gunk up the detergent pump in the I-dos. I cleaned everything as per the Bosch instructions then using my air compressor I… Read more

GENTLY blew air through theI-dos pump from both ends. Only gentle air not blasting. My idea was this may remove any old detergent gun king up the pump. Put it back together & it seems to be working. No more error code 81 which is faulty I-dos sensor. If you dont use I dos I would put warm water in the detergent tank & turn I dos on so that the I dos pump is getting flushed & residue is not gunking everything up. Just add detergent manually. Hope it helps. Good luck

Don’t bother with Bosch – WAW32640AU purchased December 2017. Do not bother with Bosch. We purchased a top of the line Made in Germany appliance because of the reputation and legislation requiring appliances to last. Our previous Fisher and Paykel machine lasted 25 years without one service. This Bosch has required 4 service call outs, at one of these the technician… Read more

broke the machine further. The latest repair has quoted an extra $400 on top of the failed $175 repair, so 5 service call outs in 5 years….considering purchase of new machine of a different brand but one of the reasons I purchased a Bosch was to reduce environmental impact. Don’t buy into the marketing spin of machines made in Germany lasting longer, they don’t.

E81 error message – Constantly having an E81 error message on our Bosch Serie 8 washing machine, I have tried cleaning the draw and keeping the liquids topped up as well as other possible resolutions that I have read on other forums but the problem is stil happening. to be a common fault of the idos system I am not sure if it is dosing the liquids properly or not. I have also notice that a replacement idos drawer is over $400 which is a lot for what it is and for what the machine is worth. So we feel the product has let us down, the machine is not quite 6 years old and I expected 10-15 years which is what we have gotten out of other brands over the years. The machine has been good beside this problem.

E81 Error Message – Once E81 error message happens it will lead to the related part replacement needing rectification by a specialist which can be costly unless you are under a replacement program (extended warranty) with your retailer.

Only good when it works – Bought years ago brand new and only worked for a couple of years until the dreaded E81 error message (I-dos drawer faulty) appeared. being dispensed. As mentioned by others, it is a $400 part to replace and given you can get a new machine for around 1K with the same features, it is hardly worth spending the cash to fix. Whilst I can't fault Boschs' I-dos system when it works, I would definitely think again before buying another with this feature. Hopefully their newer machines are reliable because this one sure isn't.

Typical Bosch. Great out of the box, stuffed 2 years later no warranty – I’ve got 2 of these and like others, it’s great when it works, unusable when it doesn’t. iDos drawers fail, no soap, e18 errors for no reason, just general garbage. Bosch have serviced both these machines after me telling quite a bit. Bosch even told me I am using the wrong soap! It’s the bloody soap they list as their preferred soap! Any… Read more

excuse to get out of a service call.

Anyway, after a lot of threats and negotiation, they agreed to come out. Replaced iDos drawer in one. Now at 4 years, I am on my own for 2x $450 soap drawers. I can buy a new machine for less then the soap drawer!! Rediculous.

I am so done with Bosch it’s not even funny anymore.

When it worked properly it was great – It worked great until we noticed the clothes coming out smelly and the idos drawer wasn't emptying. The little motor that pumps the detergent in the lid had died, and the unit is only available as the whole lid, which costs... $465! 1/3 of the cost of the machine? motors/impellers and some plastic moldings and a plug, no controller electronics or anything. So basically to "repair" the machine I can spend $465 on a replacement part and hope something else doesn't fail or buy a new machine? Hardly the model for sustainability? (Machine is 4 years old?!?)
