We would never ever recommend this company to anybody. Incompetent rude inexperienced staff, plus two small trucks for a house load of furniture lead to a disastrous outcome. Just don’t go there, very unprofessional company. NO STARS!!!!!

Bells moved my furniture from Tasmania to country Victoria much soner than I'd thought. They had to pick up from 2 close by addresses in Tas and all went vety smoothly. I went overseas shortly after the delivery and I (mistakenly) thought part of a… Read more

We arranged a move from Sydney to Tasmania. We provided a manifest and photos to Bells to ensure they were aware of what we had to move. A decision was made to use their "packing service" for an additional fee as we had done so on a previous move with a different removalist and it was a great way to move. We expected a group of packers to turn… Read more

up in advance of the move to make sure everything was packed correctly, but no chance of that happening. On the day of the move the driver turns up with two assistant removalists. We asked where the packers were and we were told "we are the packers". So the driver and his assistants are supposed to carefully pack everything in the house, then move it to the truck all in the one day. Our previous moves had taken two days to pack in advance of the move.

During the packing the driver advised us that the container he had was nowhere near big enough to take all our gear. He said that he had room for a small 2 bedroom unit, and yet we had a 3 bedroom house and there was no way it would all fit. He advised that the company "always did this - underquoted and then there were extra charges for the extra moving". We then had to agree to almost 100% over what was quoted to complete our move. We had no choice but to agree to pay as it was too late to make alternative arrangements.

The worst was yet to come. When the container was delivered to our new home in Tasmania we started discovering the damage. The fridge was scratched, a tool box had been thrown on top of everything else and was damaged. Numerous pictures were damaged with broken glass and frames. Ceramic pots not packed with any paper or foam so naturally they were damaged. Valuable personal items were thrown into a box together with no packaging (see photos). To this day we are still finding damaged items.

So after being charged almost twice what was quoted we then had to threaten to sue the company to recover a small amount of the cost of the damage they had caused through a lack of care and by not providing the packing service they had agreed to.

Do not use this company if you care for your personal possessions. Use a company that gives a true quote and that will provide a proper packing service.

Removalists who go above and beyond! – Outstanding service! Competitive, and willing to go above and beyond to get the job done. Fantastic hard working crew. I cannot thank Chris Bell enough. He even showed up on the final day of the move to help his crew met my settlement deadline. Highly recommended. Show details

Faultless storage and delivery service – My household goods were in storage for two years instead of the anticipated 9 months. Today my household goods were delivered - everything was in great condition - there was no damage and the delivery team were exceptional. Hardworking, courteous, careful and efficient. I can't thank them enough for a job so well done. I would not bother getting quotes from anywhere else and I highly recommend Bells Removals and storage.

Removal Tas to Nth QLD – We can highly recommend Chris Bell Removals. They moved our household furniture from Tas to North QLD in Feb/March 2022. Bells and their Australian Movers Group affiliate in Townsville (A & R Removals) are excellent, easy to communicate with and very customer focused in our experience. No damage or marks to anything. No mould even though in… Read more

storage in tropical Townsville for around 4 months. Timely and efficient, careful storage and delivery to our new home. We highly recommend Chris Bell Removals for anyone in Tas or moving there. Chris came and quoted personally. Pricing was good with only minimal variation due to increase in actual quantity at uplift. Use of rail from Melbourne to Nth QLD is very efficient and secure as the same container loaded in Tas is what arrived at our new home in Nth QLD.

Above & Beyond! – Chris Bell organized our move from Tasmania to Queensland and we were blown away with his excellent customer service and going above and beyond for us. I was heavily pregnant at the time of our move and with Covid-19 and March 2021 floods there were understandable delays with the delivery. AVOID AT ALL COST – Firstly they damaged walls and tiles at our house whilst removing our belongings - all of which required professional repairers. Secondly I caught one of the men smoking in our container whilst loading our furniture. Totally outraged the owner offered to spray our belongings, once they arrived in Tasmania, with a chemical that was used by the Fire… Read more

Services to use in a house that had smoke damage, which they did. However they did not use any desiccants to absorb any moisture so whilst our belongings sat in their storage facilities our belongings grew mould - expensive antiques, clothes, leather items and much much more. Upon receiving our belongings, some of which they forgot to deliver, not only was there so much mould but an incredible amount of damage from their incompetent attempts at wrapping our items. We have lost so many of our beloved items due to their unprofessional work standards. Yes we had insurance, but we are still battling to get our claim finalised due to Bells purposely withholding their payment of excess liability to the insurance company, who wont pay us until Bells pays them this excess. This process is still ongoing after TWO YEARS and no closer to having this finalised. We are still living with the mouldy items due to the claim still be outstanding. Chris Bell, when this started, would not even have the decency to take any of my calls and nor has he ever apologised for the totally disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour from himself and his crew . I could not stress more fiercely that do NOT engage in the services of Bells - you run the very real risk of receiving the most expensive mistake of your life.

VERY Disappointed , No Care Taken – Chris Bell was full of promises. Guys turned up at our home in TAS, to move our furniture to NSW. We had packed everything in boxes except for the 75in TV, and Oil paintings. These they would pack themselves. Tv in its own tv box and pictures in there’s. Then off to storage. When it all arrived in NSW, which was after a few calls as it was hard to… Read more

get an answer when it would turn up. The TV And the paintings had been shoved into the same tv box which was bursting. On opening , the 75in tv was smashed, one picture was broken. So much for taking care as promised. As the removal people unloaded the truck they ticked off the boxes on their list and asked where we wanted them put. Seemed ok. They ticked all boxes and gave me the list. Not till later, I realised four boxes were missing. They were clever, I think they knew, probably dropped off at another home. I did phone Chris Bell later to let him know, they could have an idea where they were. He said he would look into it. Never heard a word . Very Disappointed. Very poor Service. Could not recommend them at all.

Destroyed valuable furniture – The service I have received by Bells has been an absolute disgrace. After a history of 4 years and paying many 1000s in costs we had a very simple moving job to be done. The team turned up at our house with the goods that they had had in storage and proceeded to practically destroy 2 expensive light blue sofas with black handprints all over them… Read more

and an embedded black rubber stain from dropping the sofa onto the wheel and the driveway. They enlisted a really good furniture cleaner who did everything in his power to clean the sofas and still couldn’t get the embedded stains out. Since then they have evaded paying the furniture cleaner and tried to shift the blame to him. He has been accused by Bells as being unprofessional after having spent countless efforts to get paid for what he did. The team that did our move were filthy dirty and incompetent and should never have been in control of expensive furniture. Avoid Bells at all costs. Use companies who are honest and work professionally or be prepared for damaged goods and no ownership of the issues.

Careless and inefficient – Chris Bell Removals failed dismally on all fronts for our move. We were leaving a villa in Hobart and most of our household goods needed to be stored for about 6 weeks until we could move into our new house in Hobart. We carefully detailed with Chris personally the fragility of some items (artwork, antique furniture) and this was noted on his… Read more

quote. When the items were eventually delivered to our new residence : 1. Valuable artwork was missing - ‘found’ after several phone calls. 2. One painting was punctured and horribly scratched and damaged simply due to negligence and poor packing/handling on Bell’s part. 3. Glass smashed on several paintings. 4. Some items simply disappeared-never to be seen again. Never, ever could we recommend Bells Removals despite having had a long association with the business. I echo what others have said ‘AVOID AT ALL COSTS’.

Terrible, avoid at all costs – Bad service, came late and despite having a house full of things prepared to move and out on a porch they took two and a half hours to pack it up due to taking several smoke breaks and also watching videos on their phone. unprofessional admin staff a couch was picked up only to realise a week later that it wasn’t on the list, given this they demanded payment of an extra $870 and demanded by close of business that day. I then paid an extra $80 for them to remove the couch and without any communication three weeks after sent me an email asking when I was picking the couch up and stating that storage fees would apply to a couch I didn’t know where it was after paying handling fee to dispose of. Upon receiving my items six weeks later there was damage to several of my items including but not limited to; scratches and scuffs, hole through a table and loss of paint of several other items. Save the heartache and spend a little bit extra and avoid this overpriced rubbish of a company for what they provide.

A helpful, short-notice Piano removal – We needed to organise for a piano to be collected - which could not be got into the place we were moving into. A good choice – Had to quickly vacate a three bedroom rental property. Bell's removals provided a prompt and professional service. Price point was acceptable and communication was pretty good too. Various circumstances changed during the move and Chris quickly adapted and provided excellent advice and alternatives when I found myself unable to store my furniture straight away. I will soon be re-employing Bell's removals to assist with further removals.

Unprofessional company – I can not rate bells removals low enough in terms of communication. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. My complaint and bad review is not because it took over two months for my… Read more

furniture to arrive, or with the way in which my items were handled, my horrible experience and warning to others is entirely due to the communication from bells removals, in particular Chris bell. I was emailed that my furniture would arrive in tasmania on Wednesday 17 June 2020. On the morning 17 june I called bells removals to confirm what time I should expect the furniture. I was told that my items would not arrive this day as the truck had been in an accident in nsw. Chris bell claimed that they didn’t know anything further. When I asked why I had not been advised that the furniture would not arrive by the date scheduled, i was told that bells removals were going to contact me that day. I later found out via media article that the truck had been in the accident on Monday. So bells removals did not contact me on Tuesday or Wednesday to tell me that my furniture would not be arriving. It went down hill from there. No one from bells removals would contact me for a status update even when I asked them to, so I called them every second day until Chris bells verbal abuse during one conversation was so distressing that from that point on I spoke to the police in nsw who kept me updated. How a company such as this can remain in business with such appalling unprofessional communication is beyond me, not to mention the verbal abuse that Chris bell clearly feels is appropriate when speaking to a client. In my career dealing with clients openly and keeping them updated is paramount. Regardless of whether there is a change in status of their matter or not. You contact them to let them know that you have not forgotten them and they are important. No exceptions.

The worst move I have ever had!! – I have utilised several different removalist companies at least half a dozen times being an ex-serviceman and have never had an issue prior to using Bells. I unfortunately chose the wrong company to return back to my home town... Bells are by far the worst company I have dealt with. Initially chose Bells based on 10+ year old recommendations. The… Read more

company is definitely not what it previously once was.

Early in the piece Bells communication was lacking, with poor correspondence and unanswered questions.

Bells utilised a partnering company to pick up our goods from NSW which was all good.

1st problem was Bells underestimated the amount of goods we had, after we wrote an insurance sheet out with every item we had. No one came out to assess the quantity required. Bells were blas about the whole situation. Every other removal company I have dealt with have had someone come out and calculate both quantity and value of items.

2nd problem - The NSW partner were instructed by Bells to not bring any storage boxes and our items would be ready and packed by owner - despite us paying for the packing service which was a requirement of the insurance we purchased through Bells. On the morning of the removal I had to race out to buy 20+ boxes for all our goods... Not what you want to be doing when your whole house is getting packed.

3rd problem - Bells invoice came they tried to charge me for the boxes that they didn't deliver. Obviously, I refused to pay until they amended it. After several contacts for an amended copy, it didn't get sent, so I waited. A couple months later I received an angry email telling me I had to pay the invoice immediately, they resent the same copy which still charged the boxes they never delivered. I responded and they were adamant they had sent the correct invoice 2 months prior. They never sent it. I finally got the right invoice, I paid immediately.

4th problem I request down-lift and am informed of a charge to get my items out of their storage facility to my new house. They had hidden this fee in a note section in the original invoice and never mentioned the fee to me (Bells said the invoice was for uplift, store and down-lift). Also never mentioned the fee to deliver on a Saturday (I believe its $650 for anyone wondering).

5th problem - Once the date was booked they never confirmed that everything was going as scheduled, I had to call them 2 days prior to ensure that they were still coming. The only correspondence I received was invoices.

6th problem - Goods arrived for down-lift, removalists were very good and professional, very careful when bringing items out of the truck. There were however a few items that were damaged. Never try to claim damaged items back on the insurance, in fact don't get the insurance as they make you jump through hoops to try and receive any compensation. Within days of down-lift I informed the Bells office that I had damaged items, even sent items numbers and photos of the damage... I received no answers. A few days later I emailed every contact I had from Bells and finally received an email saying a member of their team was working on it and I will receive an update. I wait a week. I have received no update so I send an email again asking what the problem is and how to continue with my claim. I receive an email back stating that same member of the team was going to get back to me, I receive nothing. One more week later I sent another email demanding answers. After all this time they send an email telling me to fill out a form which is due from us within 30 days of down-lift. I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED THIS FORM INSTANTLY after I had an issue. It took this long just to receive this form, I can't imagine the effort I will have to go through once I put the form in...

Your terrible customer service has defeated me. I rather tell people looking for a good removalist company my story than claim back the $1500 worth of damage.
