Made me incredibly ill to the point I thought there was something really wrong with my body and baby. I started taking Elevit when I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant - I only had mild nausea at the time. 2 days after taking Elevit I had nausea 24/7, frequent vomiting, headaches, painfully bloated stomach and violent diarrhoea. I thought I was just… Read more

unlucky with the pregnancy symptoms and continued to take Elevit for 12 days. I was suffering and in misery with the symptoms I went back to my GP who told me to stop taking Elevit, it can cause severe negative pregnancy symptoms and has double the recommended dose of iron for pregnancy which can turn toxic in the body causing severe illness and also higher then recommend folic acid then the safe standards recommended. I started researching and looking at all the reviews and I cannot believe this is still for sale on the shelf. I’ve changed prenatals and have been on Bump Bliss for 2 weeks now and I feel so much better. Elevit had me thinking my body was shutting down or dying it was that uncomfortable and putting me in constant pain - I was getting heart palpitations and numbness/ tingling in my jaw and neck while taking Elevit. Please do your research before taking any prenatal. Elevit is full of synthetic ingredients.

4 months on it and I have had a horrible start to the pregnancy. I thought it was my blood levels or something else but everything else was fine. I stopped this for 4 days after 4 months and all my issues (shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation and feeling like crap) went away. Absolutely don't recommend Show details

Extremely sick!! – I wish I had done my research before purchasing Elevit. Since taking Elevit I have been extremely sick with nausea, vomiting and the worst constipation. I have been stuck in bed for weeks thinking it was really bad morning sickness until I started researching Elevit. Elevit contains a lethal amount of Iron which was way too toxic for my body. The… Read more

normal amount of iron to take during pregnancy is UPTO 30mg. Elevit contains 60mg!!!.. that is double the recommended dose for a pregnant woman!! Elevit states they use the highest doses including folic acid using 800mcg instead of the recommended dose of 600mcg. As soon as I stopped taking Elevit I was back to normal within a day with mild pregnancy symptoms.

Works for me but terrible constipation – I’ve taken elevit throughout both pregnancies and didn’t experience any of the nausea side effects mentioned below. I did feel more energised and the only downfall was that it gave me terrible terrible constipation throughout my pregnancy. My obstetrician advised to every now and again to take a small break from it to help get things moving again.… Read more

Other than that it’s been pretty great! I also took the breastfeeding elevit for my first baby and I swear it made me feel a lot more energised, and helped a lot during those newborn days.

Works for me so far – I’ve been on this for about month now. I think it does give me more energy which is a huge plus. I have noticed darker stool though which I think is due to the high iron in it. It does cost more than the alternatives and it may not be everyone but it gives me peace of mind while TTC being the most popular prenatal out there

Swear by it, surprised how many don't like it! – I been taking elevit for over 7months now. I have found it great and just recently found out I'm pregnant. I forgot to take it for a day here and there, it made the morning sickness so much worse when I missed it! Everyone is different but I find myself less bloated, more energy and definitely feel better for taking it. Also helped me conceive which I was told I never would :) Show details

Made me extremely extremely bloated and constipated. It was terrible as pregnancy already makes you constipated and bloated. After I stopped taking I was okay. I tried it again a few weeks later, same symptoms. I found that Blackmore Pregnancy and Breastfeeding was much better. Show details

I blame this product for my horrible first pregnancy. Was constantly sick all day everyday. Couldn’t work for most of my first trimester. 2nd pregnancy took elevit for a day and was vomiting all day so I stopped it and the vomiting stopped. Never got a condition in my 2nd that I had in my first when dr said I will mostly get it because I had it on my first. I put it all down to the vitamins, Will not recommend this product to anyone

No $10 cash back received – Bought 150caps value pack because there was $10 cash back. Submitted a claim online and after 2 weeks of waiting, still no cash back received. Emailed them, no response. $10 is not much to be honest but to advertise cash back and not give it is a SCAM. So be careful. Show details

Avoid!! Causes serious gastro issues – I had elevit pre-conception pills for a month. Immediately after I started having bloating, diarrhea, gases, stomach pain. I went from being a very healthy woman with no problem whatsoever (I've always eaten very healthy, done sports and luckily I have no health conditions) to having several gastro issues. other patients and decides to stop the intake of Elevit. I anyway went to see a doctor just to double check it wasn't something else, but my medical exams were all ok. It took me at least 2 months to start feeling better after I stopped having Elevit.

Since I started having those pills, I became intolerant/ hypersensitive to certain food, I used to eat everything without problem, now it's no longer the case.

Stay away from Elevit! This product shouldn't be sold!!

Contains Folic Acid which is a synthetic form of Vitamin B9 – Folic acid and Methyl-folate are two different types of vitamin B9 (Folate) which is required for the body to make DNA and RNA and metabolise amino acids necessary for cell division and maturation of blood cells. Folic acid is a synthetic type of Vitamin B9 which needs to be metabolised in order for the body to absorb it. Methyl-folate is a form… Read more

of Vitamin B9 that is already converted/activated and can be easily absorbed in the body.

Elevit contains 800mcg of Folic acid in their product which does prevent neural tube defects if the body can metabolise it and it can be absorbed easily. Look for a prenatal supplement that contains an activated form of folate such as Methylfolate, as it does not need to be metabolised and can be absorbed easily. Please do your own thorough research on this, as the two types are significantly different. My wife has stopped taking Elevit and has opted for a more organic supplement that contains an activated form of folate (Vitamin B9).

Wouldn’t buy again – Unfortunately Elevit made me feel super sick. I was constantly nauseous and had diarrhoea, both which resolved the moment I switched prenatals. I did love the ease of the all in one product but unfortunately it didn’t work for me.

Would not recommend - body buzzing sensations – I used this with my first pregnancy and didn’t really notice anything out of the ordinary but then I began using the breast feeding vitamins and was experiencing body vibrations/buzzing at night that got so bad It was causing insomnia and driving me absolutely crazy, once off the tablets went away. Awful – All the chemist warehouse reviews are amazing, It must be lies. I have tried to leave a review on their website but it won't let me ... these made me burp fish all day. I was so nauseous. What a waste of money.

This product should probably be taken off the shelves!! – Elevit ruined my 1st trimester of pregnancy! At first, I thought morning sickness came around early this time (2nd pregnancy). But my nausea, stomach cramps, diarrhea, and overall sickness got worst until I finally realised something was terribly wrong, and I felt like I was dying. I've stopped taking the vitamins now, and feel 100% improvement. But I think it will take me a while to recover from the damage this product has caused me.

Consult Your Doctor Before Buying – I started taking these tablets and for a week all went well. However, from third week onwards, I started getting really worst spasm in my stomach. Once I took the tablets in the night and went to sleep, I used to get the worst spasm ever. My stomach was all well when I stopped taking it. Be careful. Show details

Your morning sickness might ACTUALLY be Elevit side affects/worsened by Elevit!!! – What a horrific product. I started taking 2 weeks into pregnancy, about 1.5 weeks later I was feeling absolutely horrendous and felt that it was just morning sickness getting me nice and early into pregnancy. HOWEVER, I travelled for a week away working and forgot to take my Elevit tablets, that week I felt back to 100%. Thinking it was just a gap… Read more

in morning sickness, I went back onto the Elevit when I returned home and immediately back to sickness and terrible nausea. It only took me then to realise it was the Elevit causing these horrific sickness stints. I’ve also got very itchy skin which I am hoping will heal now I’ve gone back off. I am in shock reading these other reviews as my doctor had recommended this product with no mention of side effects being so common.

A dissapointing product with very strong marketing unfortunately. I hope other women figure out it’s this product and not necessarily their morning sickness.

Do not buy – I started taking these while trying to conceive on advice from my doctor. I experienced severe nausea, bloating, constipation and general fatigue. I took it for three weeks thinking that I was possibly pregnant given these symptoms. I cannot believe that this product continues to be recommended by doctors. Show details

Do not recommend! – This product made me short of breath, fatigued, nauseas. I realised after 2 and a half weeks of taking the tablet that it had caused all of these symptoms. Do not use! – I started taking Elevit when I was 4 weeks pregnant and had quite bad morning sickness. I thought it was normal so I tried taking my prenatal at different times of the day to try to get it to stay down but noticed each time that within 20 minutes I would be throwing up. I stopped immediately once I saw reviews online and got the NaturoBest prenatal instead and my morning sickness has completely gone away. I do not recommend Elevit whatsoever. Show details

Overpriced and upset tummy – I regret spending $69 on these. I took for a week BEFORE I was pregnant and I was so nauseas, cramping, bloating, constipation. Went off and I was fine again. These are terrible. All synthetic supplements for way overpriced. Use the money to get Kin or Naturobest instead. Way better activated natural vitamin ingredients that are easier to digest for a similar price. Show details

Do your research before taking a pregnancy supplement – I have found doctors over the years have willy nilly recommended elevit...I think some mention it may upset my stomach. Ive always just resorted to elevit because the name I suppose is well advertised and the doctor named it..... DONT TAKE IT! I have stupidly made the mistake of taking these on and off over the years, each time was a waste of… Read more

money. This last round, being pregnant I ready had terrible nausea but through a process of elimination, and a light bulb moment I realised I NEVER felt good on elevit. Always sick in the guts and cramping. Since I stopped taking them and went to another brand (kin) the cramping completely stopped. Changes in your digestion through pregnancy is hard enough to deal with so don't risk taking these!

Worst experience with a supplement ever – I ran out of my normal pregnancy vitamins which I bought abroad, so my doctor recommended Elevit and I took it at week 23 of pregnancy. Being well into my second trimester, I… Read more

have not been experiencing nausea or vomiting for over 10 weeks. I had the same dinner as everyone else yesterday, which was fresh and cooked at home, nobody else feels bad afterwards, so I am pretty confident Elevit is the culprit. A waste of $60!!

Don’t use it – After having problems with blackmores gold I tried elevit and silly me I didn’t read reviews, I wish I had. I was so fatigued I couldn’t do anything for days, first day not taking it and I’m still feeling exhausted, made my period cycle longer and gave me terrible stomach cramps, I am no longer using pre conception tablets and will just take folate, please think twice before using this!

Don’t recommend – I had no nausea all the way to 5 weeks pregnant and had 2 different doctors recommended I begin taking these vitamins so I went out and got them. Please don’t use Elevit!! – I started using Elevit when I found out I was pregnant. It’s my first pregnancy so I did not know what to expect. panic attacks in which I really didn’t think I could do this for several months. I was an emotional mess… It got that bad that I thought about termination of my pregnancy for my mental and physical health.

After my partner made a comment that it might be due to Elevit, I did not take it too serious until I saw all the negative reviews. I stopped the vitamins a few days ago and I’m able to leave my house again and I am over the moon with bubs growing. Turns out that without these vitamins I have no negative pregnancy symptoms besides a slight morning sickness every now and then. Please do not use this horrible supplement because it is not worth it. I will never recommend it or touch it again, it’s a shame they are allowed to sell something like this.

Horrible experience. Messed with my period cycle. Just wasn't for me – I took Elevit every day for a total of 2 months while trying to conceive. From the very first day, I had horrible stomach pains, bloating, diarrhea/dark green stools every single day, and occasional nausea. I read reviews online saying these symptoms would subside with time and my body would get used to it, but after 2 months it never happened.… Read more

Also, I have ALWAYS had a very regular 28-30 day menstrual cycle, but after the first month of taking Elevit my cycle was 35 days long, and the second month it was 40 days long!!! I had changed absolutely nothing in my lifestyle leading up to both periods EXCEPT for taking Elevit. I don't feel comfortable taking this pill that has clearly affected my hormones and my cycle. I'm going to stick to a healthy diet of more fruits/veggies and a daily folate vitamin while TTC because that's just what works best for me. My sister takes Elevit and she swears by it and never had these symptoms. I guess everyone's different.
