Quirky and utilitarian – Have had one since new, bought in 2015. Highly modified, haven't had any issues except those caused by modifications. Made to be modified, GREAT offroad. Not the best car to drive on-road though. Roof leaks sometimes.. but the floor has bungs to let the water drain. The tech is dated.. but the car is 9 years old and still going strong. The… Read more

drive it like a truck – its a light truck, drive it such and it will last.not like a sports car. I replaced suspension, steel rear bumper and steel bulbar. still leaks water inside and plan to reseal, maybe for good. roof get radiating scorching hot ,plan to line with insulation. bad ball joints, outer bearing is plastic! so cheap.the cause of the death wobbles. replace… Read more

with all steel bearing ball joints with grease nipples , problem solved with no death wobbles. great 4WD, as with all short wheel base gets uncomfortable on long trips. Regarding the ball joints , death wobble! After dismantling the ball joints. I found a tapered bearing shaft fitted into a tapered outer nylon type bearing. The play was around 2mm. But after retention the nut to specks. No play was noted. Thus fixing the problem with the death wobble. But fitting an all steel bearing with grease nipples. Makes sense with rough 4WD driving.

Leaking faults.Terrible experience with FCA and dealerships – Update to last review My jeep has still not been successfully repaired and has been sitting at Jeep since 4 April. Stellantis/FCA are a scam and the warranty process needs to be investigated by the ACCC. Jeep/stellantis are wanting to offer me a repurchase which is $20k less than any advertised jeep with similar milage and model (used prices).… Read more

They are refusing replacement due to stock levels even though I have said I will take any of the exdemo Jeeps you have which are aplenty. Stellantis complaints rep [Name Removed] acknowledged I will take a big financial hit and said to me 'I feel for you mate but legally we don't have to replace and have the option to repurchase'. No integrity at all and due to market movement, this warranty process has created a loophole where Jeep can scam its clients if warranty replacement is requested. I have to acknowledge, [Name Removed] from Peter Warren has been trying to do a better job on the repair in the past few weeks after it sat at the dealership for months with no action but my disastrous situation remains. ----- My jeep has been at Peter Warren Jeep Warwick farm for over 2 months to do a warranty repair due to it leaking inside when it rains. What was supposed to be a 1 week job to change seals and front carpets has taken forever with no communication and when I finally get through to them it is constant lying on why they haven't done it yet. FCA are hopeless and have no ability or empowerment over dealerships to do anything when handling complaints and have not taken any action to date. I lodged complaint to ACCC and Fair trading only to have FCA complaints person [Name Removed] tell me to please direct thes3 complaints under er Peter Warren Jeep and not Jeep Australia (who the warranty is with). I go to Jeep Warwick Farm and see my Jeep in the carpark collecting dirt and water making the leak situation worse

Problems that can leave you stuck up the creek without a paddle – Overall its been a good car but it has had a couple of major issues though. One being the control track light and ABS light constantly on and putting the engine into limp mode. All this while travelling out west, well away from any sort of mechanical service. Turned out to be faulty crank angle sensor wires. This was fixed under warranty after… Read more

finally making it home travelling 3500km in limp mode. Now, just out of warranty it has sprung an oil leak. Turns out to be a cracked oil cooler housing. Looking online it is a common problem. Not only in Australia but in the US. but sorry sir, that will be $2,000.00 bucks to fix. Hang on, its a known common problem, why isn't it covered even though its out of warranty. Not to mention it will take up to 2 weeks since as usual, Jeep don't have parts. I guess I will have to walk everywhere.

i would never consider another petrol powered jeep. Perhaps a diesel, but considering the 2 problems I have had are both issues that could leave you well stranded or with a completely dead and damaged engine if you are travelling i don't think I would. After all, it is Australia and outback there isn't a service station or town every 20 or 30km. I mean, I never had another 4wd or car that had faulty crank sensors or cracked an oil cooler under 4 years old. Back to Nissan or Toyota for me when I get my next car i think.

Great little vehicle – Whether we're climbing a hill or heading to work, our little 08 wrangler is great fun to drive. It's not the most comfortable vehicle getting around, but it is a serious off road vehicle so you can't expect much there. We were amazed at how quiet it is in the cabin with the hard top on and while it is quite basic on the inside, there is really… Read more

very little you could ask for. My wife and I are quite tall and find that the interior has plenty of space for us, and the fact you can remove the rear seats is fantastic. That being said though, with the seats in, boot space is minimal. On the other hand, if you had the top down, the storage spaces that are there can be locked, which is quite handy. One drawback is that with its punchy 3.8l v6, it is very thirsty and with fuel prices on the rise, it's not that friendly to your back pocket. If you're looking for a tough little adventure vehicle, go no further. But if you want comfort, economy and space, this might not be ideal for you.

Jeep Wrangler, Awesome! – Toongabbie 3 reviews 1 answer Generation: JK (2007-2018) Jeep Wrangler. Awesome 5 out of 5, reviewed on Sep 09, 2014 It is the best feeling to own a Jeep Wrangler, I purchased A Gecko coloured Wrangler 4 door, one of the last sent to Australia in that colour. looks. The jeep boasts a powerful engine which is responsive when needed. Off road performance was very surprising being very capable at getting up and down mountain trails. If you want a fun drive then this has to be it a couple of minutes you have the roof off and your driving with the sun shining on you and the wind blowing through your hair. The 4 door unlimited has plenty of room in the back for trips away. The modifications for inside and out are absolutely endless, you will have no trouble finding the perfect addition to your Jeep (The Jeep dealerships are extremely expensive). The other good thing about driving the Jeep has to be the Jeep community, the facebook groups are full of great people that help or advise on everything Jeep are fantastic. The Jeep wave also give a great feeling of community unity. One of my greatest moments was driving when 5 kids all shouted in unison " He Bought A JEEP" with a blast of the horn and a wave I set off feeling good about buying a Jeep. Buy one you will love it.

Best car ever if you are a ‘car person’ – Have had Jeeps going back to the YJ. A lot of downsides if you are not going to actually use it off-road. But as soon as the tyres hit dirt, then it’s game on baby! Also, you will be spending $$$ on mods! Show details

not the most comfortable car I have driven. It does great in urban areas. The Stereo is great. THe GPS is faulty. Siri over rides Jeepey GPS. The highway ride is pretty good for a 4wd. The ride on the beach is great. We go up to DOuble Island Point and we have never had to let the tyres down.

No front hubs so just pull the 4wd lever back and it is on and off you go. You need to apply the 4wd but once you are shown it is easy. No soft button like those other auto everything cars. The tow capacity is real low on this short wheel base. The servicing cost sting if you use Jeep. My warranty was only 3 years so then went to Ultratune. We are not high kilometer drivers. It is about 12,000 km a year. We are upto 50,000 k at the end of 4 years. We just replace the first set of tyres at 45,000. No other issues at all. Never let us down. Replaced battery at 3 years and 3 months. I did rustproof it and think this has saved me some pain. Good clean after the beach. put rubber matts over the carpet when we go up the beach. It is competent as a 4WD but I am not keen to get it real dirty. I like the car and the thought of getting it all muddy hurts me. and scratching it Noooooo!. Jeep continues to put the front and back bumpers made from some plastic stuff that fades in the sun. You need to keep polishing them to bring them back to new look. Don't like how the bonnet has no lock on it so if you are paranoid buy the accessory to lock it. THe back ride for passengers is not roomy. Most people that ride with us are just Jeep fanatics so it is no problem. THe AC holds the temp in Qld humidity. Keeping it in the shade is a better choice to keep it fresh. Don't forget that you need to store the hard top if you remove it. Don't forget you need to sotre the Jeep alternate back canopy somewhere in your house. As my wife says to me honey if you want men to look at you go and buy a Landcruiser!

the Mazda CX3! The only down side would be petrol consumption, but I did get it down to 9 ltrs per 100 klm on a long trip, which was very good considering the size of the motor. On average it would be around 11 ltrs per 100 klm. A found everything handy to reach in regards to the console, good headroom, good comfortable seats with additional back support, they don't have a left foot rest which I did miss but this is very minor. My Jeep was a two door and passengers getting into the back would find it a challenge but I didn't buy it for them. The Jeep was very reliable. In nearly 5 years of owner ship I only replaced the battery. I never took it off road so can't comment on it's ability in the bush. Would recommend one to anybody thinking of getting one. If they did bring a fully convertible one to Australia, I would buy one!!!

Don't buy a Jeep! – I'd like to thank Chrysler and their trained mechanics at Know Chrysler in Knox VIC and also Northern Motor Group in Bundoora VIC - you have no clue how to fix your own vehicles!!! steering system?!! Knox Chrysler order new parts twice and they didn't fit my vehicle, then had to wait in Chrysler Engineers from the US to tell them how to fix it. I'm not a license mechanic but maybe you should have tried a hydraulic hose shop down they street?!

And to Northern Motor Group - you charged me hundreds to fix my check engine light - which turned out to be an electronic fault in the turbo actuator - you said it was all fixed, then when the customer service representative drove it out of the service bay, the CEL came back on and the problem was the same as when I dropped it off a week earlier.

Today you replaced to whole turbo for thousands of dollars, when I picked the vehicle up it was perfect - for less then 20 kilometres - when the CEL cam backlights on and the vehicle lost all power and went back to the same condition is was when I dropped it off to you (the second time) two days earlier.

As an aside - these aren't minor or the only problems I had - on purchasing the jeep with a Mopar lift installed by Werribee Chrysler - the steering bangs and knocks. Northern Motor Group determined it was the "aftermarket" lift kit that was hitting the frame of the vehicle??!

AND finally - the jeep went into transmission limp mode after 12 months of driving, several hundred kms from home - during a bush fire (yes, I admit the massive bush fire has nothing to do with Chrysler). Turns out the transmission valve set was bad from being built in the factory - and despite the original dealer using the vehicle themselves and conducting the first service - this was not picked up, even though the error codes were present. On a good note - thanks for replacing he transmission vales under warranty...

My vehicle is a 2012 Jeep JK Wrangler 4 door automatic 2.8L CRD - less than 5 years from being built - on road driven, no modifications except what the dealer installed (Mopar 2 inch lift).

If you want great service, reliability, good pricing - don't by ANYTHING that Chrysler is involved with!

JK Unlimited Overland - great package – I bought my JK new at the start of 2014. Like 99% of new cars these days it is reliable and has done all that I've asked of it from day one. well matched; my pet peeve with autos in other vehicles is the hesitation you get with some when you want to speed up quickly, not so with the (Mercedes-benz sourced) unit. It seems to anticipate what you want to do well and with light throttle, glides smoothly through the gears.

The front axle does not have CV's that go pop in the middle of nowhere like its competitors. How many "4WD Action" DVD's have you seen with those other 4WDs breaking CV joints when the going gets tough. Jeep insist on uni joints to drive the front wheels. Enough said.

In the shopping centre, car doors don't hit the bodywork - only the side step.

Wheels are impossible to curb.

In the bush it handles itself extremely well with no modifications. Just pick your line carefully and let the vehicle do the rest.

On the soft sand you can push pretty hard and it will stay on top of the sand, not bog like the heavier vehicles; never any issues pulling Prado's Patrols and Cruisers out of trouble with the snatch strap.

The vehicle is multi-purpose - I think that's what I like the most. Its like a swiss army knife. It handles my daily drive beautifully. Its quiet, comfortable, and American's must like their music blaring 'cause its got a good sound system and integrated sat nav. When I want to, the family can enjoy the outdoors - its a fairly rugged unit.

If I want I can kit it out with aftermarket stuff, and believe me the choice is endless - "want a tailgate organiser? Sure!, what colour?"

You can take the roof off, the doors have two screws and a plug to detach if you want to go doorless, you can get a sunshade if you want to cruise around topless and not get sunburnt etc. etc. etc.

Floor carpets throughout lift out without removing seats, seatbelt buckles and anything else normally bolted to the floor through the carpet. This makes it a hose-out affair.

I bought mine with the factory towing package. The undocumented feature is that you also get "sway control" via the vehicle stability programme. On my latest holiday towing on a gravel road I can vouch for its effectiveness. Got me out of trouble 3 times when the whole rig tried to get into an uncontrollable sway.

I like that the oil filter is on top of the engine at the front. Makes filter changes very easy standing up :)

The alternator is also almost the highest point at the front of the engine - saves dirt, water and other offroad crap affecting it.

The bonnet folds right over and rests on the front of the roof - gives good access to everything in the engine bay.

I have been impressed with the after sales service. All warranty concerns have been addressed professionally and (almost) enthusiastically by my dealer. I think your own experience will come down to the dealership you buy from.

What I don't like:

Tailgate strap that holds the tailgate open is a dodgey design. Sand and grit from the inner rear wheelwell find their way into the mechanism and it eventually seizes.

Rear brake rotors were caput at 40,000k - at wear limit. Must be made out of mild steel. Jeep, the pads are supposed to be the sacrifical element, not the rotors.

The ride. It doesn't jolt or crash, but it doesn't soak up minor road imperfections very well. You do feel most, if not all of the road surface as you travel along. It doesn't bump you off course like an 70's landrover or landcruiser, but it could learn from an equivalent live axle vehicle like a 105 series cruiser for example.

Will I buy another one? Yes indeed - as long as they don't soften its capabilities like for example the Jeep Cherokee.

but it's an under-stressed 3.8l V6 pushed 1.8 tons around. Over the life of the vehicle my average fuel economy is 11.4L/100km which is 80% Highway driving. Fuel economy gets a lot worse if you've got a heavy foot, 4x4ing or carrying a heavy load. Worst I saw was 16.8L/100km towing a broken down car on trailer.

OFFROAD; the vehicle is very capable, just set your tyres to the right pressure for the conditions and it will go anywhere. With slightly wider tyres (265vs245) I usually run 13-1psi in sand, and 20-25psi on rocky and gravelly tracks. High range is quite long in the tooth doing barely 2000rpm at 110kph, but it has a quite short low range where the engines mild performance can be best used. Maximum torque is from 2000-4500rpm so keep in that range for best results.

ONROAD; it's average. The solid axles lend to a rougher ride, but because a Wrangler is Coil sprung front and rear it handles quite well for what it is. If it had leaf springs it wouldn't be anywhere near as nice. Fuel economy can be bad if you pushing a headwind due to the box shape. Slow down to 100 and you'll save a fair bit of juice.

QUIRKS; Obviously it's that Roof that you can remove. I generally only use the hard top and not bother with the soft top. The soft top tends to be fairly noisy, but the hard top is much quieter if seated properly. You can get wind leak noises if it's slightly misaligned. I've never had a problem with water leaks on either Soft or Hard top. Over the years as the rubber seals have withered a bit the wind noise has got worse, but it's not terrible. Tyre noise doesn't penetrate the cabin much at all due to the Ladder subframe-chassis setup. The heaters are very good and the AC works fairly good too, but there is no cabin filter for the 07-09 model.

PARTS and SERVICING; This is where it gets bad. Quite frankly Fiat Chryslers track record in Australia for customer support and after sales service is poor, and it's a well warranted record. I had an ECU adjustment done that cost $75 to stop the headlights turning on when I remote unlock. Two weeks later the ECU magically reset itself and their answer was 'they just do that'. Absolute crap. Getting parts can be nightmare, and the price mark up is crazy. I wanted to replace a full door seal...$432AUD for the genuine Mopar part and a 2-4 week wait. I looked up a USA aftermarket parts supplier. $140AUD after conversion for the EXACT SAME genuine Mopar part and to my door in 4 days freight included. It's not all bad though as parts and mods are readily available from a multitude of USA suppliers, and they are happy to ship. There are some aftermarket suppliers in Australia, but you have to pick and choose as some are good and fair priced, and others are just scum trying to scalp people.

CONCLUSION; It's a solid offroad machine that handles okay on road, and that 'Roof off' feeling is awesome in summer months. Just make sure you get a good one that hasn't been abused. Fuel economy is fair for it's size and shape. If you can handle a bit of wind noise it's good fun.
