foundation — information that had not been communicated beforehand. Three vans and their crews left having accomplished nothing, wasting both my time and theirs.
To avoid the additional expense of a shed build, I proposed mounting the batteries on my existing shed roof, which the team approved. A second appointment was scheduled and again the crew arrived on time. The batteries were installed on the southern wall, with 32 panels facing north and 10 facing south — all satisfactory.
However, I then noticed crew members smoking on my property and discarding cigarette butts on the ground. Upon their departure, the site was left with yellow cable ties, plastic foam from the panel corners, and cable sheathing scattered across the area.
More concerning, midway through the installation, the crew leader took my hat — valued at $40 — and wore it for the majority of the day without my knowledge or permission. This was only confirmed through my CCTV footage, which I later presented to his supervisor. Additionally, during the installation, panels were dragged across my Colorbond guttering, leaving the paint visibly damaged.
Several weeks later, a power outage left both my house and shed without power, despite having a fully charged 42kW battery system. When I contacted the company, I was informed that a "blackout box" was required — at an additional cost of $1,500. This critical piece of equipment had never been mentioned during the sales or planning process. When I queried this, no satisfactory explanation was provided. I was also advised that even with this additional expense, backup power would be limited to just two circuits in the shed and nothing to my home — rendering the investment largely ineffective for my needs. Had I been fully informed from the outset, my decisions regarding panel placement and infrastructure would have been quite different.
The one positive note was the assistance provided by Naomi, who was professional and helpful in resolving an issue with the inverter settings.
Overall, I would not recommend Sunboost. The majority of their customer-facing staff appear to be based in an overseas call centre, and the installers are third-party contractors rather than direct Sunboost employees. While their pricing may be competitive, the lack of transparency, poor workmanship, and inadequate product knowledge make them a poor choice for anyone seeking a well-informed and professionally managed solar installation. I have also yet to receive the replacement hat that was discussed, and was separately quoted $350 to have panels repositioned horizontally which I refused to pay.
I am happy to pay for a blackout box or mod to the system at reasonable cost, but some how needs to be on the house which Im sure they can do?
Some concerns in relation to the power production of the system which is a 10.5 Kw but never produces more than 7.8Kw Ensure the sales person explores all the battery sizes and prices to ensure you get best quality, value. Show reply
Sunboost were great, just installed my Fox ess battery and solar through them. Installer was great, very good job. I dealt with Carlos at sunboost, very easy to deal with and helped all along the way with all the paper work etc. overall no problem at all and highly recommend them for anyone.

We used Sunboost to install our solar system a couple of years ago and just last week we used them to purchase and install our new solar battery to fit with our current solar system. Follow-up · Nope never deal with sunboost again the issues we had under warranty our inverter would connect to internet tried so many times but wouldn't send anyone out unless we paid but mind you still under warranty so got local Solar guy out fixed problem free of charge took him 5 minutes then sunboost cut us off cause we couldn't connect for them to see never again

my house I ordered 6.6kw solar panels and 27kwh batteries. A few weeks later after the initial installation Sunboost informed me my installation would change to December but no actual date, I had to chase them up in January again to confirm and installation date and still no installer consigned to my installation.
I decided time was running out before the 1st of May 2026 rebate change so I requested my deposit back which they did.
I rang around many Solar companies and they all promised the world but when I pressed them for exact details they would respond with statement like "do not worry about it, we will work it out on the day".
I finally decided on Quick Solar who guaranteed 4-6 week install but unfortunately they were the same and now I have no system installed and facing thousands of dollars more for the same installation.

27/4/2026 we noticed that our Sunboost solar system was not functioning properly the Solax inverter was intermittently dropping off grid or not restarting each morning to collect solar power from the panels. phone, he was able to talk me through a reset test procedure on the inverter and the Wifi stick, to confirm the issue was a problem & informed me that he would log the fault and raise a Ticket number and he would monitor the unit for 24hours and get back to me with advice on next steps to rectify any problems. The unit failed the next day to restart, and I received a call from Tom again that morning to advise me that our solar system Inverter warranty had expired in February 2026 and that he was going to contact the Sunboost / Solax tech teams to see if there were any processes to help rectify this problem and he would come back to me asap. I received phone messages and emails from Tom to contact him in regard to our problem & when I made contact, he advised me that he was going to organize an update procedure to be done on the Inverter unit in the hope that it may reset and rectify the problem we were experiencing, in conversation with him he explained that I had a mechanical background & would be happy to assist with any of the shutdown procedures needed to be done, He organized the Solax Techs to log into our inverters wifi dongle & complete the update on our unit the same day & after it was completed I called him back and he talked me through each step of the restart & then had me download a solax Wi-Fi App on my mobile phone so I could monitor the inverter over the next few days which he would do also, and the result was fantastic, our solar system is back up functioning 100 % which was a big relief for my Wife & I.
