Driver failed to deliver my food. Uber Eats refused to refund my money. Waited over an hour. Driver did not understand basic English or directions. Even my GPS was turned on to help him, but to no avail. So I thought how could I make this easier on him?

I asked if he could meet me outside Parliament House, right next door to the original delivery location, or even the main CBD train station (there is only one).

I might as well have asked him to explain the fundamental forces of singularity combined with the cosmic nature of microwave background radiation, as this was a clearly too challenging task.

I asked how long this was going to take, and all he said was "wait".

This was just a simple food delivery where others before had succeeded.

I asked him repeatedly, "Where are you? Can I come and meet you somewhere? How can I help you?"

He just got aggressive and shouted "WAIT" at me.

I told him this shouldn't be that hard, so I hung up.

Then I reported to Uber Eats the fact that I did not receive my order, and they ignored me. I explained that I paid $76.05 for an order I did not receive. They ignored me. I repeatedly followed this up for several days and got ignored.

There was no phone number, so no-one I could speak with. I was stuck. I tried everything and followed this up for 4-days. Then I filed a complaint against the delivery driver but kept getting pre-filled/AI responses. I kept reporting the issue and eventually Uber Eats responded with "Unfortunately, we have determined that we are unable to provide a refund at this time".

So, I told them that is unsatisfactory and asked WHY they haven't responded to my messages and how they determined they will not issue me with a refund.

I also explained to them that they cannot simply pocket a customer's money and not deliver the goods the customer paid for. That is illegal, let alone unethical. I told them they were contravening ACL (Australian Consumer Law) and if they don't refund me, I'll report the issue to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission).

Then magically they responded within 4 minutes and refunded my money immediately.

Now I ask you, how many people out there have been ripped off by similar circumstances and simply not persisted because it's just too hard and time consuming?

Disgraceful.

More efficient and enforceable protections need to be in place for Consumers. We shouldn't have to read through the legislation to tell a food delivery company that they're behaving unethically by refusing to refund undelivered food.

This kind of terrible service is just begging to be replaced with automation, and if humans can't do a better job, then that's exactly what's going to happen.

This is the third time my order hasn’t been delivered, and it’s extremely frustrating. There’s no clear way to contact anyone for help or get a proper update on what’s going on. Beware! I found a long hair in my food and they refused my refund saying it wasn’t eligible. This is not the first time I’ve had food quality issues with Uber Eats. They charge you extra for a service fee but there is no service. Probably not be of the worst experiences I’ve had Show details

Fat Stak, started yelling, "I don't care, only make $3 from this delivery, I don't care, I'm cancel order." Then drove off! I have video footage of this.

Then not only was I left with no food for my sister's b'day, the restaurant closed and then I had to deal with a damn bot crap "support" that felt taking me around in circles. Then the bot cancelled my order and charged me in top!! I did not approve this! So the butt hurt driver decided to not deliver my food, basically stole our food, I tried to get support/assistant from uber eats and end up with a robot cancelling my order then charging me on top!! This is THE WORST FOOD SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!! WAY TO SHOW THE CUSTOMER THAT YOU CARE! I'm getting my refund and then deleting the app for good!

DO NOT USE!! Ordered a meal from Wokit Up and it got delivered to a completely wrong address. There is no contact number and if you go to the help section on the application it tells you to contact the driver which I did and all he said was to contact Uber! Show details

customer support) Dear Uber Eats Support Team, I believe there has been a serious misunderstanding regarding my complaint, so I will explain it in a very simple way. If you order a pizza and only receive some of the toppings without the base and sause, would you accept a refund only for the missing dough & parts and just eat the toppings? Of course not. The item is incomplete and cannot reasonably be consumed as intended. This is a food not raw materials. This is exactly what happened with my order. A fundamental part of the item was missing, making the meal incomplete and unusable. eat. On earlier this week I ordered a BBQ BACON Angus burger with no onions and no McChicken sauce. It arrived with both, and my granddaughter wouldn't even pick it up, let alone eat it. For those who say scrape it off or remove the unwanted parts once they have "polluted my dinner" she can't forget they were touching her other food. I immediately reviewed the meal online thinking that would be it, and was gobsmacked (Although shouldn't have been) with their response. They responded as follows:-

"Hi Al,

Unfortunately, we have determined that we are unable to provide a refund at this time.

We understand you are disappointed with your recent experience. You can update the rating to reflect your order or delivery experience. This information helps our merchants and delivery people improve in the future.

Our system provided this response based on your issue. " This sounds very much like some badly programmed AI has made this decision. I have been a good customer for a long time and this was my first complaint. It's bad enough that all of these companies are allowed to mislead you with their advertised delivery rate. From most peoples perspective I imagine that when people see a quoted delivery rate they should be able to expect that the quoted rate is the difference between the coast to buy in store and the cost to have the meal delivered. In fact this couldn't be further from the truth.

Each item ordered has it's price increased from the instore price. Then there is a service fee, well, surely the service was to deliver a meal, and they only quoted $0.99 for that, then finally there is the quoted delivery cost. The worst case I have come across personally was a $23 item that cost over 3 times that. I honestly think they, the delivery services, are being allowed to get away with false or misleading advertising

 Follow-up  · After I wrote this review, and complained very loudly I eventually got a $24.30 refund. The delivery fee was $7.99, the service fee was $5.93, but I can't find the instore cost for these items on line as maccas don't seem to publish their pricing unless you sign up for their app. Apps are very difficult to use as I have serious multi-level spinal… Read more

In the Dominican Republic, you need to be aware that if your order arrives damaged, incomplete, or incorrect, you may be told that you do not meet the requirements for a refund. Even if you contact “support,” the issue may be repeatedly redirected… Read more

or delayed, only for them to eventually claim that everything was handled properly. In other words, they may imply that you are not being truthful, close the case, and leave you having lost both your time and your money.

Perhaps these are new Uber policies for 2026? Regardless, this situation feels clearly unfair to customers. It seems that only the businesses and Uber benefit from this kind of unfair and misleading approach.

I do not recommend the service, mainly because of what appears to be deceptive practices and poor customer protection. On top of that, an additional 5% tax has been imposed, making everything more expensive and riskier if proper assistance is not provided.

It may be better to purchase your meals directly from the restaurant or consider other alternatives instead.

 Follow-up  · update: the situation is getting worse , some business don't attach the bill receipt and if anything wrong happens the support won't assume your case, that is just an excuse to avoid responsibility because they have all information on the system

strawberries. 2 Problems...they make terrible muffins, and I am allergic to strawberries. I did catch it as they were packing, but there is absolutely NO way to contact them and fix this. Nor was there an obvious way of not allowing substitutions. This is a VERY poor design! At lest the Coles app allows you to reject substitutions...

 Follow-up  · To follow-up to the questions... Most of the market orders were OK, though I don't order often as UberEats doesn't include the store discounts in their pricing. They pretty much just did the substitution. Nothing else was offered. The policy wasn't very clear, so I am willing to share the blame. :)

I can't even write a review for Uber. Its blocked on every platform! I will never use that platform ever again! This is what i was trying to put as a review before I was getting "server busy" "unable to post review" "Shame on you uber. Honestly, how is Uber Eats still in business? Every single time I order, it’s the same story wildly overpriced food that shows up late, cold, and half the order is either missing or completely ruined. You pay a premium expecting convenience, and instead you get frustration. What’s the point of paying delivery fees, service fees, and inflated menu… Read more

prices if the basic service can’t even be delivered properly? It feels like there’s zero accountability. Missing items? Good luck getting a proper refund without jumping through hoops. Food arrives crushed, soggy, or stone cold? Too bad. And somehow this has become the norm, not the exception. At this point, it’s not even worth the gamble. You’re better off picking it up yourself or ordering directly from the restaurant at least then you might actually get what you paid for. Seriously, Uber Eats needs to do better. Or just get out of Australia all together This isn’t convenience it’s a ripoff.

So sick of getting my food cold. The drivers always have multiple drop offs so by the time I get the food its bloody cold.
