Not proactive and zero after sales support. Reading the one star reviews was like 'deja vue' for my experience: "defensive. cr#p instructions" "delivery issues with poor follow up" "roller door issue" "treated me like an id*ot" I think one star was a bit harsh but as I did not consider them to be "ok" give two stars. garage from them in kitset form. The ordering/DA process support was okay. Only issue was they made an assumption - incorrect - about where the garage would be sited on our property. They never asked and we had to get that corrected before proceeding with the awful NSW construction planning portal. Once we started putting it together found that if we had reduced the length from 7.5m to 7.25 it would have saved us at least two sheets of corrugated (and therefore $$) and a lot less work in cutting colourbond sheets. Why did nobody in their design team point this out to us??? ZERO proactive support/suggestions, 7.35m would have worked just fine for our needs whilst saving time, and money.
Garage was delivered 3 days BEFORE advised date, not an issue. We had short delivery - difficult to determine as per other reviews that it was such a jumbled mess and no time to tick off even if we knew what we were looking at (also not so greatly labelled). Rang our CS contact to advise we were short delivered, as per usual no reply so we had to leave a message. Ended up contacting the driver direct who still had the missing items on his truck and turned around to deliver. Many hours later (next day?) Helen returned our call and assured as that nothing could be missing as the garage hadn't been delivered yet - i.e. they were not aware of the update. Talk about treating us like id*ots - why on earth would we ring up about a missing component before the delivery had been made??
Assembled ourselves which took AGES because of poor/non-existent instructions and product labelling. Not everyone uses a tradie.
Two months after assembly finally had been done one of the garage doors started playing up and kept getting worse. Emailed WideSpan/SteelX's Senior Customer Support Rep again who advised she would need to contact the door supplier and could we send some photos/videos. Fair enough to this initial reply. A week after sending the requested info emailed to check if received and any update. Said yeah, yeah we'll let you know when we hear back from door company. A month after first contact rang the senior support rep - had to leave another message requesting an update because we were sick of parking on the street (which she knew we were having to do due to door issues). No reply either email or phone call. 30 hours later rang her direct number again begging for a phone call to say where we were at. Twentyfour hours after my SECOND message not being responded to I rang the 1300 number and the guy answering said our contact was not available and he would ask her to call me - I may have laughed at this stage. Lots of apologies about having a busy couple of days and I get that but I'd allowed over a month for resolution. I basically told [Name Removed] I hadn't heard anything from widespan or the door company and as I was writing a review at the end of the week I needed to know which company to direct most of my disgust at the lack of care towards. Well knock me over with a feather but the door company rang us the next day and gave some great suggestions and help. Two or three weeks later I still have not had a reply of any kind from our Senior CS Representative. Guess pleading does not work.

We love our shed and veranda, we bought and recommend to anyone if you are going to buy a shed to go to widespan sheds for one and our contractor did a Brillant job putting it up. Show reply

found bits missing, I just sent a couple photos in an email and the missing parts where delivered fairly promptly. The plans where comprehensive and once you got your head around their numbering system it was pretty easy to assemble. Every component on the kit house frame and trusses had and individual number and I found out quickly that it was important to place the numbered parts in their correct position (as shown on the plans) if you wanted a plumb, straight and square frame. There were a few hiccups with frame plates not begin punched correctly but it was pretty easy to fix. When it came to cladding all the sheet lengths where correct and there were enough fasteners to complete the job. When they say it's a kit home, it's not really a complete kit, there is still lots of stuff to buy that that needs to be factored into your costs. Insulation is one item that shouldn't be skimmed on for these kit homes as the metal frame and metal cladding can turn you house into a hot box if not insulated correctly. Thermal break insulation is mandatory on these homes if you want any chance of a cool home, especially if you have metal clad walls that are exposed direct to the sun. We used Thermal break as well as bulk insulation in the walls and the roof had blanket insulation under the sheets and bulk insulation over the ceiling sheets. We also will be putting 10mm Sisal back foam insulation under the floor joists. We used James Hardies Scyon flooring as it did take us a while to build our kit home and we wanted to ensure that the flooring wouldn't be damaged by elements over an extended period. With windows, kitchens and lots of other components to buy to complete the kit home it is important to ensure you have enough budget. The design of our Oasis 60 kit home is great and we are moved in now and couldn't be happier. Thanks Wide Span :)
Bought a 9m x 6m Colorbond shed. Materials were incorrectly manufactured, and five essential parts were missing. My emails have gone unanswered for weeks. Due to the missing parts, I am unable to complete the shed build. I have reported this matter to the ACCC and CBS South Australia.
Avoid this company at all costs — any faults will not be rectified.

Vermaseal Fixing (MNMNM0650040) – "Additional fixings ordered" – Still missing
PA Door Header (C10010-PURLV) – "Suitable and will be cut onsite. Re-fab not required"
Mid columns – "Pre-drilled bolt holes misaligned with provided plates. Brackets tested and adjusted. Re-fab not required" – Incorrectly made
Ridge capping – "Scratched, but damage is only on the underside and won't affect product. Re-order not required" – Damaged during packing by Widespan Shed Company
Gutter Installation Guide (Construction Manual WSS241695, page 39) – Incorrect instructions provided. I found a video online (https://vimeo.com/481523620 ) which shows it attaching to a fascia, but mine will be attached using four screws. The rest of the product appears to be the same.

What really stood out to me was the professionalism, respect and genuine helpfulness I experienced throughout my interactions with them. As a single woman undertaking a significant amount of research and making decisions about building projects on my own, I really appreciated being treated with respect and taken seriously.
Unfortunately, I have encountered the complete opposite from some other companies during my research—so much so that I have actually had to stop dealing with or block some businesses because of the way I was spoken to and treated.
That made the difference here even more noticeable.
I was genuinely impressed not only with the assistance I received, but with the overall way I was treated. That level of professionalism and respect is not something I take for granted, and I think it deserves to be acknowledged.

Ordered a house and shed to be built as an owner builder. Was not provided final plans until all outstanding balances were paid. Once I received the final plans for the house it turns out they are not compliant with my construction certifier and I have had to engage a third party to modify these plans at an unexpected extra cost. water stops shown on plans for shower areas and doorways, verandah and landings do not have a step down at door openings, no thermal break section details shown on plans and there is much more I could list here. I emailed the list to Wide Span regarding these issues and they were unable to assist at all with any of these items, not a single one. Don't even know how this is legal when these things are required by building regulations. Thought buying a kit home would be straight forward however it is not and I deeply regret this purchase. Was great to deal with until the payment was made then when the shed kit turned up with wrong brackets supplied and missing parts and no pa door with no idea when it would arrive they have done nothing but try and pass the buck onto the builder I will never use them again or any of there partnered business absolutely disgraceful after sale customer service
