Beware of Arlo's Planned Obsolescence – I recently encountered a frustrating issue with my older Arlo Pro cameras. Two months ago, all three of my Arlo Pro cameras simultaneously stopped accepting a charge, rendering them unusable. Upon researching the issue, I discovered that many other Arlo camera owners experienced the same problem around the same time, suggesting a deliberate attempt by Arlo to render older devices obsolete.

Despite my efforts to find a solution, including reaching out to Arlo support, the problem persisted. As a workaround, I resorted to swapping the batteries between my older Arlo Pro cameras and a functioning Arlo Pro 2 camera to keep them charged. However, this makeshift solution is unacceptable and inconvenient, especially considering the investment made in these security cameras.

It's disheartening to see loyal customers feeling deceived by what appears to be a malicious tactic to push them towards purchasing newer products. Arlo's failure to address this issue has severely tarnished its reputation among its user base.

Firmware updates to remove these End-of-Life (EOL) features would be a step in the right direction to regain trust and loyalty from their customers. However, based on the responses from Arlo representatives and the experiences shared by fellow users, it seems unlikely that Arlo will take any meaningful action to rectify this situation.

As a result, I cannot in good conscience recommend Arlo products to others. The company's behavior is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of respect for its customers. If you're considering purchasing Arlo cameras, be aware that you may be subject to planned obsolescence tactics in the future.

I urge potential buyers to consider alternative security camera options from companies that prioritize customer satisfaction and product longevity over short-term profits.
