Lenovo
1.2Simply only for the trash bin (and I am talking about the high end models, not the low end devices) – Bought in February 2022 a Thinkpad P2 Gen 4 AND a Thinkpad X1 G3 - really premier devices (over 7k AUD). The X1 arrived with white powder on the keyboard and like someone touched the mouse pad after eating pizza plus, the mouse keys did not work. Prime support, and it needed weeks (despite other promises) to even get the device sent back, and months to get it refunded.
Now the P3 gen 4 just shuts down as someone pulls the battery out at random times. Send a prime support ticket - 5 days - no response. As I don't want to go through the same endless phone calls for "prime support" as for the X1, I guess this 4k AUD thing is a complete write off. It will anyhow need several months to get it repaired, need anyhow to buy an alternative device to do my work (as I needed already for the X1), and waste my time in phone calls - thus better to stay away also from the prime Lenovo models. Brand reputation does not implicate the quality you get.
Browsing through alternative models, and found some good alternatives and am joining the NoLenovo InMyBag movement, as I can't anyhow trust this device... ;) I love the models of newcomers that want to compete with Lenovo.
Should have done this in January, saved MUCH money, and have a trusted device. Time to write to the customer protection rather than go through the same thing again as with the X1!
The weather is too good in Australia rather than wasting time with those guys. Time to accept the loss.
Sadly after 20 years time and may Lenovo devices to move to another brand. Low quality at a premium price is not acceptable for me.
As informed customer (I trusted Lenovo that I disregarded those advices): 1) NEVER buy via bank transfer, as your credit card insurances are value gold in case of problems; 2) prime support is definitely wasted money, as it's no more than warranty that other retailers offer in .oz; 3) yes, they ask 20% restocking fees (for whatever they are) if you change your mind while the device is en-route in mail; 4) reputation of high quality devices does not implicate that other brands don't have actually high quality at a lower price tag with "true" quality despite not having this reputation (i would have saved 1/2 the costs) - i love our X1 replacement laptop that we needed to buy due to months of waiting for "prime support"; 5) count on zero post sales support - it costs you MUCH time and energy, without any outcome and months of waiting - you anyhow need a replacement device (this is the reason why I simply gave up for my second "premier device" including "premier support" and simply trash it before going through it again) Better to trash it on a YouTube video in an environmentally friendly way and buy another brand model as replacement than to go through this again within just 6 months...
Would any other costumers like to see a environmentally friendly video how I trash this device? I am happy to make a YouTube video - any ideas of what you would like to see what I do with the laptop? Just should be environmental friendly ;) - any ideas?
Thanks Lenovo for doing this to a small startup company!
UPDATE 3/8: was a P1 not a P2 or 3 (my mistake), but despite several comments on the support ticket - zero support except one email to update drivers (had them already updated prior the bug). Still unresolved, and no support...
